I’ve had this recipe since 1986, but I never made it. So today I decided to give it a try.

Ingredients:

1 pie crust
2 eggs
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 cup melted butter, room temperature
170 g semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped nuts
Whipped cream

Directions:
Preheat oven to 375F.
Beat eggs until frothy. Add flour, sugar and brown sugar; beat until well blended. Blend in the butter. Stir in the chocolate and nuts. Pour batter into pie shell and bake for 1 hour.
Serve warm with whipped cream.

I used Ghirardelli 60% Bittersweet chocolate chips and unsalted Amish butter; everything else was standard stuff from Walmart. I omitted the nuts (nut allergy in the family).

This is an incredibly easy recipe; it took me about 10 minutes to mix everything and put it in the oven.

The results:

It tastes just like a chocolate chip cookie! Absolutely delicious. But there were some problems.

The crust was too dark. I thought it was burned, but it was just overbaked. The recipe originally called for pre-baking the crust, but I removed this step.

The chocolate chips sank to the bottom. I’ve been told that dusting the chips with flour before baking will prevent this, but I’ve never tried. If anyone has a suggestion, please share it!

This one is definitely a keeper; I highly recommend it.
