- It's interesting how this hasn't started as the usual "new" series atmosphere. The beginning is a lot less dramatic than the beginning of the original Tsubasa (Reservoir). This is probably to show that a) this is a direct continuation and b) there is no time for fooling around, let's get down to what really matters.
- Just a color spread instead of 3 color pages. It must be a policy of Shonen Magazine SPECIAL. I guess it's fine since we'll probably get a new color illustration every month.
- Kurogane's arm now has a skin! Easier to draw ;)
- Miyuki-chan already made an appearance!
- Nice to see Fuuma and Seishirou already on Chapter 1. It goes to show that CLAMP will address back to those issues (I hope so).
- GATE 7 OMG FREAKING GATE SEVEN. At first I thought they were the same ones from GATE 7 (silly me) and I was already making conspiracy theories ("THAT'S why they put GATE 7 on hiatus! They were waiting for this link!") but then I remembered "Wait a minute... this is Tsubasa...". I have to put my mind back into the "Tsubasa mode" I was so conveniently off from the last couple of years.
- Miyuki-chan, Seishirou and Fuuma, GATE 7 characters. This is CLAMP saying: we are not fucking around.
- Need translations....

Breaking news for Tsubasa fans!

It's been announced that a new "Tsubasa" series will begin on August 20th in Kodansha's monthly Magazine SPECIAL.

The series will be linked to the currently ongoing XXXHOLiC Rei series.

I have mixed feelings about this. I am sure the community will be more than happy to see this news, but I wish CLAMP would just move on. The least I can do I hope we will now get all the answers that we didn't get in the first place.

XXXHOLiC Rei #3 to come with original audio drama

The second volume of XXXHOLiC Rei, which was released today in Japan, is announcing that the 3rd volume of the series, to be released on August 20th, will come with an original audio drama. The drama's script will be written by CLAMP member Nanase Ohkawa.

The latest XXXHOLiC Rei volume also updates the number of "XXXHOLiC" volumes to 12.7 million copies sold to this date.

Looks like Kodansha is trying really hard to always bring a special bonus for each volume. This looks more interesting than the Blu-ray re-releases, though -- in my opinion!

XXXHOLiC Rei #2 release date

The second volume of XXXHOLiC Rei will be released on April 23rd, says Kodansha.

Like volume 1, this volume will have a limited edition that will come with the original animations of XXXHOLiC Rou (2010) and XXXHOLiC Rou ~Adayume~ (2011) in Blu-ray format.

CLAMP will draw the Blu-ray jacket illustration and a XXXHOLiC-themed memo paper sheet will come as a bonus.

(not sure if the image above is from the cover of volume 2 or the Blu-ray jacket... probably the former).

Hey you all, I'm still alive! CLAMP, on the other hand, are not much alive these days.

There hasn't been much going on in the past months, that's why this LJ hasn't been updated in a while.

In the meantime, I strongly advise you all to follow either my Facebook page or my tumblr. I've been posting small little pieces of news over those two places.

I'm sure this scarcity of news is only temporary ;)

"Logic Lock Festival" key visual revealed

As previously announced, CLAMP will be in charge of drawing the illustrations for Nakamura Aki's debut mystery novel called 〜Logic Lock Festival〜Tantei-goroshi Paradox.

Last weekend, the key visual of the novel's main character was revealed on a poster signed by Nakamura Aki and CLAMP.

The book will be released on November 14.

I was hoping the characters would have a less teenager and more adult look.

CLAMP to illustrate mystery novel & more

CLAMP will be in charge of drawing the illustrations for Nakamura Aki's debut mystery novel called 〜Logic Lock Festival〜Tantei-goroshi Paradox.

The book will be released on November 14 by publisher Seikaisha, under its Seikaisha FICTIONS label. On October 12, the book's key visual will be revealed in a special poster signed by CLAMP and Nakamura Aki to be on display at Machi ★ Asobi.

• XXXHOLiC Rei/Drug & Drop

On other surprising news, Drug & Drop #2 will be released on October 23, on a simultaneous release with XXXHOLiC Rei #1. Check the covers below:

To celebrate the simultaneous release of both works, there will be a special campaign held at the Animate shops where postcards featuring the cover illustrations will be given as a bonus to purchasers.

• Card Captor Sakura

ARIKA announced today on its Facebook page that the Card Captor Sakura and the Mysterious Card mobile game will terminate its services on December 12 of this year. The game was first introduced in December 2012 and CLAMP has been providing monthly new illustrations for this it. You can check the new illustrations that CLAMP did for the game so far in this gallery.

CLAMP-NET.COM re-opens!

CLAMP's official website, CLAMP-NET.COM, has officially re-opened today!

The website has a "Schedule" section, listing the upcoming events and releases, and a "Blog" section, with posts from the CLAMP members.

It looks very simple, content-wise, and it doesn't fully cover all of CLAMP's vast portfolio, focusing mainly on their main list of works. I hope the website will grow with time.

CLAMP has also launched their official Facebook page, hurray!

The new website was designed by vanillate. The clay dolls that appear throughout the website were designed by Miro-san.

So it's finally open!! I'm looking forward to see what the website will offer us =)

Update: GATE 7 special chapter in JUMP Live (Updated)

The special chapter of GATE 7 will be published in tomorrow's issue of JUMP Live, according to the magazine official website.

JUMP Live is a digital magazine and at least for iOS users, you need a Japanese Apple account to download the app.

CLAMP art exhibition to be held in Kyoto

As part of the "Kyoto International Manga Anime Fair 2013", a CLAMP art exhibition to be held in Kyoto has been decided. The exhibition will run from September 6 to 8 at the Kyoto Computer Gakuin, in Kyoto.

Original illustrations from Magic Knight Rayearth, Card Captor Sakura, Tsubasa, GATE 7 and XXXHOLiC Rei will be on display, as well as the illustrations that CLAMP did for the Card Captor Sakura mobile game and the serialized novel, Haken Anime!.

There will also be screenings of the anime adaptations of Magic Knight Rayearth and Card Captor Sakura with special guests such as Naomi Tamura, Sakura Tange, Kumai Motoko and Junko Iwao.

Admission fees: 900 yens for advanced purchases; 1000 yens on the days of the event.

XXXHOLiC Rei #1 to come with "Shunmuki" Blu-ray (Updated)

The latest chapter of XXXHOLiC Rei announced that the first volume of the series will have a limited edition that will come with the original animation of "XXXHOLiC Shunmuki" in Blu-ray format. The animation was originally released in 2009 in DVD (OAD).

Update: Kodansha's XXXHOLiC portal site has more information about the release.

Apart from the remastered version of "XXXHOLiC Shunmuki", the Blu-ray will also come with the the first episode of the XXXHOLiC TV Drama. A special postcard will be included as well. This limited edition will go on sale for 5,250 yens.

GATE 7 special chapter to be published in "Jump Live"

It's been announced that CLAMP will draw a special chapter of GATE 7 that will be published in digital magazine Jump Live, a new online spin-off magazine of Shonen Jump.

GATE 7's appearance in the magazine is listed to take place in the future, you can see it listed in the magazine's upcoming line-up here and here.

This could mean that the relationship between CLAMP and Shueisha hasn't been compromised and the reason why GATE 7 is currently on hiatus may lay on different, yet unknown issues.

CLAMP draws special ticket and Clear File for Kyoto International Manga Museum

CLAMP has drawn the art for a special limited ticket to the Kyoto International Manga Museum that will be sold exclusively at this year's Comiket (August 10~12). The same illustration will be used for a Clear File that will be sold only at Comiket:

CLAMP is representing Kyoto for this year's edition of the Kyoto International Manga Anime Fair. As previously reported, CLAMP made an illustration that was on exhibit at Paris' Japan Expo earlier this month.

XXXHOLiC Rei #1 out in October

According to the latest chapter of XXXHOLiC Rei, the first volume will be released in October.

This clears the doubt of whether the counting would be restarted or not. Yes, XXXHOLiC Rei will have its own counting starting at volume 1.

We all kind of expected that, anyway.

GATE 7 on indefinite hiatus?

This month both GATE 7 and Drug & Drop are on a break, and while this doesn't seem strange for Drug & Drop (since the last chapter was published last month), it certainly seems strange for GATE 7.

GATE 7 has been on a break since March and the last chapter that was published was an omake (not an actual chapter).

If you check GATE 7's information on the "CLAMP camera" app, it says that the series is currently on hiatus:

But strangely enough, if you check CLOVER or X's information, it doesn't say they are on Hiatus. GATE 7 is the only work with that information.

Additionally, the introductory text about CLAMP on the app states that XXXHOLiC and Drug & Drop are the only two active series that CLAMP are working on:

To make things even more suspicious, the official twitter account of CLAMP is no longer following Shueisha or JUMP SQ's twitter accounts. On the other hand, GATE 7 is still listed as on the series being published in JUMP SQ: http://jumpsq.shueisha.co.jp/rensai

Just earlier this week, both Ohkawa and Nekoi went to Kyoto on a business trip, which I believed was for taking more pictures and doing some more location hunt for GATE 7, but I am unsure if that was indeed the real purpose of their trip now.

There hasn't been any official announcements from either CLAMP or Shueisha concerning GATE 7's status. The last chapter published in March informed that a new chapter would be published two issues later, but it's been postponed indefinitely since.

A lot of people were worried, specially all the GATE 7 fans out there, so I made this post in order to shine some light on this matter.

I will keep you posted should anything new come up about GATE 7's situation, but for the time being, it looks like GATE 7 won't be appearing in JUMP SQ.

CLAMP CLASSIC COLLECTION Boxes + new Kobato. art

Not much happening these days, huh?

Thanks for everybody who checks this livejournal daily in the hope to see CLAMP news, because we have some today!

As you may or may not remember, last year Kadokawa re-released some of CLAMP's classic titles under a series called CLAMP CLASSIC COLLECTION. For those who purchased all volumes, special boxes to store all volumes featuring new CLAMP illustrations were given as a bonus.

Even though the last volume of the series came out in November of 2012, only now the boxes have been sent out to the people who earned them.

Here are a few pictures from the 3 exclusive boxes, featuring 3 brand new drawings by CLAMP (click on the picture to enlarge it):

I was starting to think these boxes would never see the light of the day! I'm glad to see them -- and the new drawings!

There is also a new Kobato. illustration!

CLAMP made this drawing as a gift for Kana Hanazawa’s (Kobato’s seiyuu) first concert. It is part of the contents of the concert's special pamphlet.

CLAMP-NET.COM re-opens in May!

Did you all enjoy this year's amazing April Fools joke elaborated by CLAMP? That sure was fun!

Some kind soul from tumblr translated all of yesterday's Twitter activity from CLAMP's official account, where details from this parallel story set in a business office were revealed. Check it out here. Some of them are really amusing!

And since it's no longer April 1st in Japan, CLAMP-NET.COM no longer shows the special page that was available for the occasion. Instead, it now shows a "coming soon" image revealing that the website will be officially open in May!

Yes! Can't wait! =)

My guess is that they hired a new company to be in charge of their website and mobile services (the 404 pages look different than they used to look! xD), hence why the site had to be taken down temporarily.

Also I wonder if they really did create a company called ShigatsuTsuitachi CO., LTD?

CLAMP launches Shigatsu Tsuitachi CO.,LTD (April Fools'?)

CLAMP's official website, CLAMP-NET.COM, has been relaunched to celebrate April 1st.

The website now mimics the behaviour of a company website named Shigatsu Tsuitachi CO.,LTD, with CLAMP's characters as employees of that "company". "Shigatsu Tsuitachi" means April 1st in Japanese.

The "company" is supposedly recruiting employers for 2014, apparently only people who were born on April 1st are allowed.

The website is offering a wallpaper featuring the same illustration used in the homapage and a tumbler template featuring the company's mascot, April Dog.

CLAMP's Official Twitter account has been redesign as well to follow the website's new look.

It all looks like a April Fools' joke, and everything might be taken down on April 2nd, so make sure to grab the extras quickly before they are taken down ;)

I hope the "real" CLAMP-NET.COM will be launched on April 2nd, or maybe new information will be added progressively to this site? Either way, CLAMP certainly presented us with a real treat of an illustration.

So it looks like this is set in an earlier point of the story, when Yuuko is still "alive" and Watanuki still wears his glasses and maybe he doesn't even have half of Doumeki's eyesight.

Something is wrong with Watanuki... could this be a parallel story? Where is Mokona?

All in all, I am glad Yuuko is back... XXXHOLiC is weird without her.

Follow-up: GATE 7 #4 sales report, XXXHOLiC news

GATE 7 #4 dropped to the 18th position on Oricon's Weekly Charts on its second week of sales, the position that was occupied by Drug & Drop last week:

02/11/2013~02/17/2013:

1st - FAIRY TAIL #36
2nd - Kuroko no Basket #21
3rd - WORST #31
18th - GATE 7 #4

Unfortunately, Drug & Drop didn't show up in the top 30.

According to Oricon, GATE 7 #4 sold additional 33.923 copies on its second week of sales, which means an accumulated of 173.686 copies sold so far.

It is unlikely that GATE 7 #4 will show up on next week's ranking, but I'll make a post if that happens.

On other news, there was a press conference held at the XXXHOLiC theme cafe yesterday to release the TV Drama adaptation to the press. Director Keisuke Toyoshima and main cast Anne (Yuuko) and Sometani Shota (Watanuki) attended the event.
