How to Calculate Pi by Throwing Frozen Hot Dogs

Calculate pi using frozen hot dogs.

Throwing a pie in someone’s face is good. Throwing food at pi is better. Believe it or not, of all the countless ways to approximate the most prolific irrational number in the universe, there are none quite as interesting or as surprisingly satisfying as throwing perfectly good food around your kitchen. In fewer steps than it takes to circumscribe your house in a circle of baguettes, you, too, can easily add a slice of pi into your dinner menu tonight. The best part is…it really works!

Over two hundred years ago, a group of settlers fleeing religious persecution decided to set a new course for human history in a new frontier. Those early pioneers chose a rocky shoreline to establish their way of life. Centuries later, America continues to set the example of what can come from a free and hardworking people. We truly remain the shining city upon a hill that the colonial leader John Winthrop implored us to be.

What started as a small colony in the territory that would eventually become the Commonwealth of Massachusetts has progressed into the greatest and most prosperous nation in history. Americans remain the freest people on earth because of our cherished Constitution and the system of government it establishes.

We have so much to be thankful for. We should recognize especially the sacrifices made on our behalf by those in uniform. Thousands of Americans will be spending Thanksgiving overseas in combat zones in order to protect our liberty and way of life. We should give thanks to those who willingly put their lives on the line for the rest of us. Where would we be without them?

We are also thankful for what God has granted us. We are truly blessed in America with rich natural resources, plentiful energy sources, fertile land, beautiful cities, and the talented and industrious people we call “our fellow Americans.” We pray that God will continue to bless us.

In his farewell address to the nation, President Reagan reminded us that “all great change in America begins at the dinner table.” Thanksgiving is an opportunity to discuss where we are as a nation at this moment in our history and where we should be heading in order to remain prosperous and free. Take time to discuss these things with each other, and take time to teach the young people in your family about our nation’s history so that they may never forget all that we have to be proud of and thankful for.

Below is a part of the specification for how the underlying technology of webpages work:
————————–——————
RFC 2324 HTCPCP/1.0 1 April 1998

In practice, most automated coffee pots cannot currently provide
additions.

2.3.2 418 I’m a teapot

Any attempt to brew coffee with a teapot should result in the error
stout.

3. The “coffee” URI scheme

Because coffee is international, there are international coffee URI
schemes. All coffee URL schemes are written with URL encoding of the
UTF-8 encoding of the characters that spell the word for “coffee” in
any of 29 languages, following the conventions for
internationalization in URIs [URLI18N].

This was a post from last year and it is hilarious so enjoy!

50 (or less…) Fun Things To Do In An Elevator

1. Make race car noises when people get on and off.
4. Whistle the first 7 notes of “It’s a Small World” incessantly.
5. Sell Girl Scout Cookies.
6. On a long ride, sway side to side at the natural frequency of the elevator.
7. Shave.
8. Crack open your briefcase or purse, and while peering inside ask, “Got enough air in there?”
9. Offer name tags to everyone getting on the elevator. Wear yours upside-down.
10. Stand silent and motionless in the corner, facing the wall, without getting off.
11. When arriving at your floor, grunt and strain to pull the doors open, then act embarrassed when they open by themselves.
12. Lean over to another passenger and whisper, “Ever had a Wet Willy?”
13. Greet everyone getting on the elevator with a warm handshake and ask them to call you “Admiral.”
14. One word: Flatulence!
15. On the highest floor, hold the door open and demand that it stay open until you hear the penny you dropped down the shaft go “plink” at the bottom.
16. Do Tai Chi exercises.
17. Stare, grinning, at another passenger for a while, and then announce: “I’ve got new socks on.”
18. When at least 8 people have boarded, moan from the back, “Oh, not now, stupid motion sickness!”
20. Meow occasionally.
21. Bet the other passengers you can fit a quarter in your nose.
22. Frown and mutter, “Gotta go, gotta go,” then sigh and say, “oops!”
23. Show other passengers a wound and ask if it looks infected.
24. Sing “Mary Had a Little Lamb” while continuously pushing buttons.
25. Holler, “Chutes away!!” whenever the elevator descends.
26. Walk on with a cooler that says “Human Head” on the side.
27. Stare at another passenger for a while, then announce, “You’re one of THEM!” and move to the far corner of the elevator.
28. Burp, then say, “Mmmmm…..tasty!”
29. Leave a box between the doors.
30. Ask each passenger getting on if you can push the button for them.
31. Wear a hand puppet and talk to the other passengers “through” it.
32. Start a sing-along.
33. When the elevator is silent, look around and ask, “Is that your beeper?”
34. Play the accordion.
35. Shadow box.
36. Say, “Ding!” at each floor.
37. Lean against the button panel.
38. Say, “I wonder what all these do?” and then push ALL the red buttons.
39. Listen to the elevator walls with a stethoscope.
40. Draw a little square on the floor with chalk and announce to the other passengers that this is your “personal space.”
41. Bring a chair along.
46. Carry a blanket and clutch it protectively.
47. Make explosion noises when anyone presses a button.
48. Wear “X-Ray Specs” and leer suggestively at other passengers.
49. Stare at your thumb and say, “I think it’s getting bigger.”
50. If anyone brushes against you, recoil fiercely and scream, “BAD TOUCH!”

from wikiHow - The How to Manual That You Can Edit

Too stressed? Need some relaxation? Your happy place will help ease your troubles, and make you feel like you’re ready to take on another day. Without using a map to get there,
here are some tips on, “How to be in your happy place.”

Steps

Think of where your happy place is. Where do you feel comfortable? What makes you happy? What do you enjoy doing with your time? Your happy place can be with a relative who has passed away, or you can be in a snow covered field surrounded by birds and trees. Think of what you consider to be “a happy place.”

Relax your body by sitting on your floor, or wherever you’re most comfortable, and start breathing slowly.

Inhale, wait a few seconds, then exhale. Repeat until your body feels at peace. Now turn your relaxation into thinking about your happy place. Now that you’re relaxed, close your eyes, and think of your surroundings. Where are you? Who is there with you, or are you alone?

Remain still breathing slowly, think about the conversations that are going on around you. Listen to the way that your grandmother is laughing, or take in the aroma of your grandfathers stew. Think about things that you love, and the things that you miss.

Concentrate and act as if those people are really there with you. If someone hears you talking to yourself, don’t pay any attention to it, keep your thoughts on where your happy place is.

Tips

If you can’t get away during the day to find your happy place, you can do this while laying in bed, the tub, or while taking a shower.

Trying to find your happy place while doing dishes or cleaning the house may not relax you enough to find your happy place. Your mind will be concentrating on your daily chores, rather than happy thoughts.

If it helps you, use photographs of your loved ones. Set them by you, to remind you of every little detail, their face, eyes, hair, even personality.

If your happy place is on a beach, hold a sea shell in your hands while keeping your eyes closed. Picture yourself bending over to pick that shell up off the sand.

Any little prop or memento will help you find, and be in your happy place, as long as you’re relaxed and focused on where your happy place is, and that you are in that place with people and things that you love, and thoughts that make you happy.

Often times it helps to imagine your loved one and go for a stroll in the park.
