Hi everyone! I got back from Vietnam last week, which was earlier than expected because the trip was extremely bad and unfortunately this time around, my sister and I couldn’t rough it out another ten days. I could go into detail about why it was bad, but I think I’ve done enough bitching about it already, so moving on (: !

Before I went to Vietnam, I went to Virginia Beach with my friends. It was really awesome because Kaye managed to get us a discounted price for a hotel with an ocean front view. Weee! Imagine staying at a hotel and seeing the beach from your balcony, it was mad nice! Although, the parking at the hotel sucked so we ran into a corner while attempting to park and scratched <sun>Sunny</sun>’s dad’s van D: ! Aside from that bad luck, the beach was really sunny and it only rained in the evening when we were going to eat dinner, so no t`was no problem.

On the way there, we saw this pretty bad ass biker. So all of us pulled out our DSLRs (except for <sun>Sunny</sun> because he was driving and except for <ca>Cali</ca> because he sucks and does not own one) to take pictures of him. I was afraid he was the scary kind that might kill us for taking his picture, but he saw us and waved/smiled so I snapped away :{D

I also have to point out that this guy has a beast license plate. For everyone who can’t read it, it says, “2 SEK Z” XD~

My friends have, for some reason, grown to calling each other a bitch, or just throwing around the word so excessively that it’s very casual amongst us (and we forget that other people aren’t in our joke so we call them it too D: ) so this I found this t-shirt amusing.

On the boardwalk~

Kiddies digging a hole.

Kiddies buried me in the hole D:

Afterward, we had to drive out to Kyushu for dinner because all of the restaurants on the boardwalk seemed really low quality for the obnoxious price they were asking for. For a tiny restaurant in the middle of nowhere, it was freaking amazing!
MY vanilla creme brulee~ There was a little hand drawn sign behind us that did some good advertising because it made me crave some, but I was dyslexic/ignorant-with-french-pronunciations & accidentally read “cream bruce lee” D:

We are all highly attractive people, I know.

After dinner, we went for a walk around the boardwalk at night.

We caught the end of a band playing. I have no idea what they called but they had an amazing bass (the giant orchestra bass) player.

Along the boardwalk at night, Kaye & Phana got their ears pierced for a really reasonable price compared to what they charge here in Northern Virginia. Kaye got her cartilage pierced and Phana got a really smexy industrial. I wanted to get extra piercings on my ears too, but since it was right before Vietnam, I didn’t think I could hide my piercings for a month over there with my parents D:~ Shamee! Maybe next time we go down.

We were exhausted that night, but wanted to wake up in time to see the sunrise on the beach. Unfortunately we slept through ALL of our alarms (except for Phana who did wake up and then went to go turn them off =_=;;) so these were the closest to sunrise pictures that I could get D:
Both <sun>Sunny</sun> & <ca>Cali</ca> think that these sandals are horrendous but I’ve been looking for a pair of something similar for a while~ They were on sale for $20 and I needed sandals to wear in VN anyways (:

From Zara. The blue shorts were $40, the most expensive I’ve ever paid for shorts ~_~;; The red ones were on sale for $15. They’re high-waisted shorts so it’ll be fun to try to find a way to wear them.

I think this track is banging & you should too.

This is turning out to the most exhausting summer vacation of my life. Most of the time, I’ve spent my summer vacations literally just laying around every single day on the computer & work. That’s it. That’s what my summer vacations have been like, extremely dull. However, with all of these new friends I’ve made this past school year, I’ve been continuously dragged out a lot & I’m exhausted! Work work work, play play play, work, play, work, play, work. I have yet to have a day where I just sit around and do nothing. Maybe today will be that day since I have a day off & I’m technically grounding myself because I have to finish cleaning out my old room today o; Either way, I’m not complaining, just observing. I’m going back to the homeland for a month so at least I’ll have a forced month break from work & these friendly activities.

SATURDAY

Saturday was my sister’s senior prom so I volunteered for a 9AM-1PM shift and rushed home to help her with her make up (:~ She did her eyeshadow and I helped out with the skin part & eyeliner (its because I don’t know how to use eyeshadow since I’ve never used it before D: ) Unfortunately, she decided to go in our backyard to tan a week ago, so her skin was way too dark for any of my foundations/bb cream so I had to mix my two shades of NARS concealer (from Phana, thanks!) to cover her skin. <sun>Sunny</sun> & I dropped her off at her friend’s house where her boyfriend, Joon, was waiting & then we headed off to the Fairfax Fair.

I think she learned how to pose while wearing heels to look shorter than him in pictures. I NEED TO LEARN HOW TO DO THISSSSS O:

At the fair, we went on a few rides first and <sun>Sunny</sun> quickly got over his fear of amusement rides (we need to go to Kings Dominion & ride REAL rollercoasters now). After a few nauseating rides, we went to go look for food. We first ate at a Famous Dave’s booth (which I didn’t take pictures of cause too hungry) & I was still hungry ~_~;; There’s just something about eating at outside events that I can never get fully full from, whether it be fairs, picnics, or amusement parks, etc. So afterward, we saw a stand selling deep fried goodies! Even though my body reacts in a dying manner to anything unhealthy, I wanted to try it.

I looked extremely tired, so I drew on my face D:

Still hungry so got chocolate covered bananas. I like drawing on pictures, I need to do it more often. <sun>Sunny</sun> was trying to look bad ass, but now anymore since I drew on it :3~ I mean, I COULD’VE been crude & drew a penis since he is making a crude face, but I’M NICE (:

After wandering around a bit more, we got chicken on a stick.

At the fair, they had a “hypnotist show” which <sun>Sunny</sun> & I dropped in for a bit to watch. It was pretty funny & I thought it was real hypnotism but my friend who was in the show and another spectator friend told me it was fake and they were all just playing along for the sake of the kids in the audience. Does this make me a kid since I believed it D: ?!!?! My level of gullibleness never ceases to amaze me |:

SUNDAY
After work on Sunday, I decided to grab dinner with Steven. <ca>Cali</ca> invited me to DC but since I had work early the next day, I had to decline. Steven took me to a place in downtown Vienna (which is a really nice place to walk around btw :{D) called Natta Thai. It’s a really cheap, not overpriced, nice, quaint, small place for Thai food.
Steven’s wild pork dish.

The Golden Triangles were pretty good. Its like crispy little bread things with cheese inside and you smear peanut sauce(?) all over it. My pad thai was EXTREMELY sweet. Way too sweet for my liking. It was so sweet, I must’ve eaten at least three giant clumps of sugar ~_~;; Steven’s wild pork was a huge contrast to my pad thai because it tasted a little like Indian curry, not sweet at all, and was spicy.

MONDAY
On Monday, I had to work a 6AM – 4PM shift. Why? Because we were going around marking a billion things down for clearance. At the company I work at, none of the clothes is ever marked down automatically, it has to be done manually. So what we do is looking at this sheet of paper with a billion numbers on it, and go through every single garment’s price tag and see if the tiny number on the tag matches to the one on the paper. If it is, we have to get a tag gun and mark it down manually ~_~;; WHATEVER! It was easy work, and I love working at 6AM because I don’t have to deal with shitty customers. At least hopefully I’ll be able to quit in August and find a job that might pay less, but has better morning hours.

Anyway, after four hours of sleep, nine hours of work, lack of food, and physical exhaustion, <sun>Sunny</sun> thought it would be fun to go row boating at Burke Lake Park even though my facial expression obviously showed differently. So we rowed to the middle of the lake, and out of no where it starts raining balls. We got instantly soaked down to our undies ;w;~ So we sadly & miserably rowed back to shore, where as soon as we got back, it stopped. I convinced <sun>Sunny</sun> to take me home so I could shower & change out of wet clothes because he wanted to go do something else. However, as soon as I reach my home, I showered and promptly collapsed from exhaustion&hunger onto my bed and canceled any further plans.

TUESDAY
On Tuesday, <ca>Cali</ca> gave me a prompt wake up call at 7:44AM because he wanted to drag me out to DC before work (sigh). He bought a “groupon” for Bourbon Coffee because he has a really bad case of addiction to coffee (I helped by introducing him to Starbuck’s espresso doubleshot D: ). We were going to back to the other place to get crepes but it was literally on the other side of the world. We passed by a different crepe place walking to Bourbon and I convinced <ca>Cali</ca> to eat there instead because I did not want to walk to the other side of the universe before work & we both enjoy trying new places. Unfortunately, everything on the menu had nutella (which <ca>Cali</ca> is allgeric to because he is allergic to hazelnut) except for a simple strawberry one since they did not have chocolate syrup substitute ):

The crepes ended up being way too sweet for us, so we just trashed the rest of it and walked around Dupont Circle. Apparently I was acting “drunk” according to <ca>Cali</ca>. It must have a been a mix of the huge amounts of caffeine, sugar, and lack of sleep~ We walked past various food shops and were hungry for something that was actually substantial, but it was lunch time so the lines for everything were out the door. We sat in the actual circle for a bit to people observe before heading back to <ca>Cali</ca>’s apartment so he could train me to play Modern Warfare. Geezus, I suck at CS, Halo, and now this D:

For some reason after work, <ca>Cali</ca> often thinks its in my best interest to drag me to DC ): ( MAI WALKS AROUND ALL DAY~ What makes you think Mai has energy to walk around DC afterward D: ?!) Well either way, its okay because <ca>Cali</ca> always makes sure I’m properly fed first & DC is prettier to walk around than my frumpy little store anyways. I also think its mad silly because <ca>Cali</ca> is from California. He’s lived in California his whole life until August of last year. So the fact that someone who hasn’t even lived in the DMV area for a year is showing me around DC instead of the other way around. . . Well it’s kinda sad, right? ( Don’t ask me why <ca>Cali</ca> decided to move to this area when he was livin` large in CA, I don’t understand either |: )

So anyway, the first time he dragged me to DC was to go see the monuments at night with his roommates. Apparently the monuments are basically open 24/7? I don’t understand who would want to go see Mr. Lincoln at midnight and beyond, but apparently a lot of people do |: & I don’t actually ever think I’ve been to the memorials/monuments at night. I only remember going during the day time when its hot & filled with unk3wl tourists D:
World War II memorial & Lincoln’s in the background.

They wanted to go see the Vietnam memorial too but I was so tired that my legs actually felt like giving out and I had to wake up early the next morning D:

The next time we went to DC, <ca>Cali</ca>’s roommates were out, so they didn’t come along ):~ Although, we took the metro to Dupont Circle (because <ca>Cali</ca> literally lives directly in front of a metro station) and walked to the crepe restaurant. O___O~ I never knew DC was so alive at night! Dupont Circle and the surrounding neighborhood like Friendship Heights(?) are really lively and nice to walk through. Like in the circle center of Dupont Circle, they had TVs set up so that people could watch the world cup. <ca>Cali</ca> wanted to watch, but I had to drag him away because I DNC about watching sports and I wanted my promised crepes |: Unfortunately, I forgot to bring my camera so I had to use my crappy phone D:

I got fresh apple with brown sugar & cinnamon. <ca>Cali</ca> got chocolate & raspberry(?).

If anyone’s wondering where we got our crepes from, we went to Point Chaud and they’re open until midnight I believe? Well <ca>Cali</ca> are going again tomorrow in the morning before I have to head off to work because I are crave me some yummy yummy fewds & will hopefully remember to bring a camera this time (:

HAR HAR~ I’m kidding. I know none of you guys care what I buy at Target |: Are you curious about the BACKSTREET BOYS CONCERT?! Cause it was mad fcking rad! I took a few pictures, but mainly poorly recorded videos. Why? Because we were literally the last row due to a ticket mishap/mix up, the lighting was overexposed on my camera D:, and I was dancing/shaking/screaming a lot so you can hear me. ( <sun>Sunny</sun> took pictures on his DSLR but is too lazy to upload them |: ) I wasn’t really singing along as much as I was just screaming lyrics n_n;;~ It was held at Wolf Trap, so it was an outside stage. It was raining a bit that day, but cleared up for the show at night (: ~ The show didn’t start until eight but we got there at like 7:30? So <sun>Sunny</sun> & I just camwhored a bit.
My favorite picture of the bunch :{D

Then their opening act came on at eight. An opening act which no one was really aware of. We had no idea who they are, and still don’t have a clue. All I know is that they’re four little kids, they SOUND MUCH <hi>younger than Justin Bieber</hi>, and have some awesome moves. But that’s all they have going for them. They weren’t singing while dancing, but I think it was their music playing in the background that they were dancing to. They only lasted 15 minutes, so we bummed around for another 45 minutes until Brian Littrell’s son, Baylee, came on stage to introduce the group ♥

They sang a good 50/50 amount of oldies and newer songs. During their outfit changes, they showed mini short clips of each BSB “starring” as a character in a movie. Like Howie was the main character in one of the Fast & Furious movies, AJ was this guy from Fight Club (not the main character), Nick was the main guy in Matrix, and Brian was the prince from Enchanted. Man, for my first concert ever it was fcking amazing~ I’ve never screamed so much like a crazed fan before. And for people in their mid 30s, they do a pretty damn good job of making adolescent teens still scream for them. They didn’t even have to be crazy sexual like a lot of the modern artists these days, (no dry humpingg~ they kept it classy & old skool).

Of course I couldn’t leave such an awesome concert without supporting them by snagging an overpriced t-shirt:

Apparently, they were going clubbing that night for an after party but I was too exhausted to go so I went home and downloaded some more of their oldies (:

& N`SYNC FANS CAN JUST SUCK IT! I’ve been a BSB fan for life :{D~ I wouldn’t mind if Britney Spears went on tour with her oldies too like Sometimes & Lucky.
So sad that Kevin’s gone now ;w;

And just because, here’s my recording of I Want It That Way (my favorite karaoke song evar~). Unfortunately, you can hear me screaming/singing really loudly/badly so I’m sorry if I ruined the song for you, but this is how I normally sing it when I go karaoke with friends n____n;;~ <hi>ESPECIALLY THAT CLIMAX PART</hi>. & I uploaded a few other recordings on YouTube but the quality isn’t worth it to watch. You could probably search & find better ones x;

I haven’t posted up a lot of things that I’ve bought lately, so I thought I should :{D ~ I know I’m going to Vietnam in less than a month, but I’ve seriously cut down on buying clothes ( since I have a HUUUGGGEEEEE credit card bill to pay off before I go D: ). Plus, I have this feeling I can’t wear a lot of my clothes in Vietnam due to the shortness of it all so I’ll probably splurge on a billion more clothes over there :3~ Plus, we’re going to Hong Kong for four days, so that means more chances to go shopping, hopefully~ /crosses fingers.

So anyway, this is a boring post about clothes, so if you’re a boy you probably won’t be too interested. However, a majority of girls I know really enjoy looking at what other people buy, and posting up what we buy, so mer.

Let me start by saying that I password protected my previous two posts due to the fact that the information included in them is pretty controversial. I don’t regret anything I said, but I feel that if I keep it public then it would continue to create more controversy than I would like. (I don’t like being the center topic of anyone’s gossip & I don’t plan to be just because I state my opinions). As much as I enjoy speaking my mind, I hate creating conflict more than anything. If you want to read it, please feel free to email me at mai@carrotlove.com for the passwords. ( Haha, I also don’t want to be the source of “gossip” information nor do I want to be one of those people who gets fired from work for blogging |: )

Yesterday I went to go hang out with <ar>Arrow</ar> and his friend from Japan, R. Now, I’m going to comment on their wealth, because it overwhelms me a bit, but don’t mistaken that as me being a gold digger. No, I do not gold dig people. I pay for my own stuff, thanks |: I also don’t treat them differently at all. I don’t expect anything different out of them because they have money, but it’s just interesting listening to and hearing about their lifestyle.

Hanging out with these two was like joining this group of people whom I’ve never interacted with before. They’re both extremely wealthy. For example, I saw <ar>Arrow</ar>’s house for the first time yesterday, and it was freaking <hi>HUUUUUGEEEEEE</hi> to the point where I actually got extremely intimidated just by being there and I wanted to turn around and go home ~_~;;

I’m not going to dwell on their personal life details, but man! It’s so strange to me about how nonchalant they are about their money and how they spend it D: !!

Either way, R was visiting from Japan so <ar>Arrow</ar> wanted me to accompany them to show R around Baltimore. Before that, we stopped by Good Fortune for some okay dim sum. I think Fortune is better, but we were in MD so that’s where we ate (:
A shrimp/crab cake thing covered in fried taro, yum!

The rest of the goodies (:

Afterward, we went to Baltimore, which was surprisingly only a 20 minute drive from where we were? <ar>Arrow</ar> originally brought us there to try these amazing crab cakes, but since we were all still full from dim sum, we had a lot of time to kill. We walked around the Inner Harbor shopping centers for a bit and visited a few gift shops so that R could buy a few souvenirs. We went up the Top of the World – Baltimore World Trade Center to the observatory deck and saw an amazing view (:~
The elevator moves so fast, it doesn’t even show numbers, it shows an “X” O:

We didn’t really know what else to do because there is literally nothing to do in Baltimore. Well there was the aquarium, but I was really poor and didn’t want to pay $40 to look at sad animals D}: So within the Top of the World observatory floor, there was a video showing us that there was “America’s oldest market” & it LOOKED cool so we went. On the way, we were approached by “someone who got mugged” and kept pestering us for money, so <ar>Arrow</ar> decided to be a good guy by giving him the money. However, now the more I think about it, the more I’m pretty sure we got scammed. But bleh, even though <ar>Arrow</ar> is as naive as I am, at least he’s a good person at heart with good intentions, right?

Unfortunately, what the video didn’t tell us that it was in an amazingly dangerous/sketchy area of Baltimore ~_~;; Honestly, I really really thought that I was going to get robbed so I didn’t pull my camera out so there are no pictures of sketchsville. Man, it was soo scary! Definitely more of an adventure than I bargained for.

After that really somber adventure, we decided that with nothing else to do, we should just go eat. So <ar>Arrow</ar> brought us to Mo’s for some crab cakes :3 The service was OKAY. It took us five minutes before we got seated because no one wanted to attend to us even though the place was basically deserted. It took another ten minutes before we got menus. We only ordered two dishes for the three of us, and they normal have a $6.95 plate sharing fee, but our waiter waived it for us. The total came out to be $70 including the already included gratuity charge, so it wasn’t bad. The bread was really good o;~ I mean, it was normal bread, but it was sooooooo fresh. I may be a bit of a bread whore, because I love it when we are given awesome fresh & free bread at restaurants. I tore it in half, and the middle was steaming and it was so soft +___+~ The crab cake was also really, really good! I’ve only had the crappy crab cakes at buffets which are 90% flour so to have a crab cake that is 90% crab meat was amazing~ ( SO THIS IS HOW RICH PEOPLE EAT, COUGH COUGH XD;; ) I couldn’t eat too much of it though, because I have this thing where if I eat anything fattening/oily/mad unhealthy, I feel REALLY icky inside. Its like this feeling where you have this huge burden on your body, and it gets uncomfortable to eat/breathe, so I could only eat a few bites D:~ (This is also the same reason why I can’t eat Outback Steakhouse’s Blooming Onion or at any diners.)
The red building is a lighthouse museum but it closed just as we got there ):

Apparently there’s supposed to be a difference between the two plates, but I couldn’t taste it. It was funny because R was getting annoyed that our waiters kept checking up on us and was like, “Why do they keep coming over here to ask if everything is okay?” So I used what I knew from Asian/American culture as well as what I read in this Tofugu article that in America, they check up on us because that’s good service & that’s how they earn their tip. It’s pretty rude in American restaurants to just call out to them, but it’s pretty common in Vietnamese restaurants. Either way, if you visit Baltimore, please remember these words of advice that <hi>the closer you are to the Inner Harbor, the safer it is</hi>.

Afterward, we just chilled at <ar>Arrow</ar>’s house for some iced coffee/tea that his mom made, which was really yummy :{D, and played Smash Bros. Brawl. I HATE THAT GAME. ITS SO CHEAP, /rage! Anyway, I thought it was strange because his mom kept on taking pictures of us just sitting on the couch playing a game. . . Like an excessive amount of pictures. She started hiding behind the wall and took creeper-style pictures too. . . Apparently <ar>Arrow</ar> and R didn’t think it was strange? D:
