We volunteered to host our family Thanksgiving this year. We have actually volunteered many times, but this is the first year that we actually hosted. Logistically it worked out very well. The only thing that surprised me was the amount of leftovers in our fridge. Until today I have not actually cooked anything since Thursday.

My grandfather prefers real whip cream. Now this is something that we rarely use. They only had quarts of whipping cream at the store which left us a pint and a half left over.

What to do? Whip Cream French Toast. This is just a variation of a buttermilk French toast recipe I found, but it was very delicious.

1 1/2 c. Whipping Cream
4 Eggs
3 tbsp. Sugar
1/4 tsp. Salt
2 tbsp. Butter
8 Slices of Bread

Pre-heat skillet or griddle to a medium heat Mix the cream, eggs, salt and sugar until consistent in texture and color. Place the bread in a single layer in a baking pan. Pour mixture over bread and let stand for 10 to 15 minutes. Grease the skillet or griddle with a thin layer of butter Using a slotted utensil, move the bread from the pan to a skillet or griddle. Cook until golden brown. This was about two minutes a side for me.

Beth and the boys thought this was delicious. If you try it, let me know what you think.

A little over a year ago the boys lost their blinds. I don’t mean they misplaced them, but rather that they lost the “luxury” of having them. I never thought of blinds as a luxury, but I changed my mind after replacing them five or six times a year for several years.

Today they finally earned them back. It was a combination of them going to sleep on time and them treating their belongings with respect. Let’s hope that this time around they do much better or they may lose them for another year.
