Are you interested in going camping? If you are like many other campers, you may be looking to go camping for a more than a day. If you are interested in doing so, you are doing more than just going camping; you are actually taking a camping trip. Unfortunately, extended camping trips give many opportunities for boredom, but there are many steps that you can take to make the most out of your camping trip.

When it comes to making the most out of your next camping trip, you are advised to examine what your intended goals are. For instance, are you looking to have your camping trip double as a family vacation or are you interested in using your camping trip as a romantic getaway? This is an important question that you should take the time to answer, as it may have an impact on how you can go about making the most out of your next vacation.

Whether you are interested in using your camping trip as a romantic getaway or a family vacation, one of the many ways that you can make the most out of your camping trip is by taking part in all of the activities that you are granted access to. In many campground parks, especially in the United States, you will find that you can do much more than camping. For instance, many campground parks have lakes, which you can go boating, fishing, or swimming, on or in. It is also common to find hiking trails that you can hike and so forth. When you pay an admission fee at a campground park, you are, essentially, paying to participate in all these activities; therefore, you should take advantage of them.

In addition to gaining access to many "standard," campground park activities, you may also want to think about creating your own. For instance, if you are taking a camping trip with your family, you may want to think about brining along some board games or outdoor sporting equipment. This may help to make your next camping trip enjoyable for everyone; especially if you let your children help you plan your camping trip, such as the activities that you will all participate in.

Another one of the many ways that you can go about making the most out of your next camping trip is by preparing for the unexpected. When we go camping, we all hope that there will be clear, sunny skies. Unfortunately, we all know that the weather often has its own plans. If you have campground park reservations in place, there is a good chance that you do not want to cancel those reservations just because of bad or rainy weather. If this is a situation that you end up running into, you may want to consider brining along additional supplies. These supplies may include board games, transportable entertainment items, and so forth.

In addition to camping and enjoying many outdoor activities, camping is also often associated with eating outdoors, namely at barbeques. Many campground parks have picnic tables and barbeque pits at each of their campsites. Should you have access to these neat camping accessories, you will want to make full use out of them. Yes, driving a few minutes away to eat fast food or at a fancy restaurant may sound appealing, but why would you want to or need to do so when you should have everything that you could want or need, food wise, right at your own private campsite?

As outlined above, there are a number of different ways that you can go about making the most out of your next camping trip. Perhaps, the most important thing to remember is that your campground park should be filled with an unlimited number of outdoor and possibly even indoor activities. Since your admission fee includes these activities, you should make sure that you get great use out of them. Not only will you get your money's worth, but you and the rest of your camping party should have a fun, exciting, and memorable time.

If you are, have you ever thought about going camping? What is nice about camping is that it is an affordable recreational activity, as well as one that is perfect for a wide range of occasions, as few of which are outlined below.

Perhaps, the best type of occasion that is perfect for a camping trip is that of a family vacation. Camping is most ideal for family vacations because it is affordable. Whether you have two kids or five kids, it can get fairly expensive to plan a "traditional," family vacation, like one to an amusement park. Many families have found it much more affordable to go camping instead.

What is nice about going camping for your next family vacation is that you have an unlimited number of options. In the United States, many public campground parks are stocked full of activities, like boating, hiking, swimming, fishing, and so forth. No matter how old or young your children are, they will likely enjoy camping.

Another one of the many occasions that can call for camping is one that is often unthought-of. Although it may not appear that way at first glance, camping is also ideal for those looking to take romantic getaways. One of the many reasons why camping is nice for romantic getaways is because of nature. Many couples love the outdoor feel and the romance that it can create.

If you would like to go camping for your next romantic getaway, but you are unsure as to whether or not you want to camp in a tent, you should research a few of your other options. There are rental stations in the United States that have RVs for rent. You may also find a number of public campgrounds that have cottages available for rent.

Another occasion that may warrant a camping trip is that of a family reunion. Although family reunions are decreasing in popularity, they do still exist and are still fairly popular. The only thing about family reunions is that many only last a day or even just a few hours. If you have a large family, it could be difficult to catch up on what is happening with everyone. That is why many families are starting to examine campground parks for their reunion locations.

As previously stated, campground parks often have an unlimited number of activities for you to participate in, like boating, fishing, swimming and hiking. This means that everyone in your family, large or small, can have fun on a camping trip, especially one that doubles as a family reunion. With affordable admission fees or camping rates, it should be relatively easy for most of your family to afford a one or two night stay at a public campground park.

Camping is also ideal if you are just looking to take a break or if you are looking to escape from your everyday life and all of the stresses that are associated with it. Although fun is often associated with groups, you may enjoy a solo camping trip, even if it is only for one night. What you need to remember though is to be sure to keep a cell phone with you at all times. Solo camping trips are nice, but they can be dangerous. Be sure to let someone that you know and trust where you will be camping and when you are expected to return.

The above mentioned occasions are just a few of the many instances, where you may want to think about taking a camping trip. As a reminder, camping is a nice and affordable recreational activity, whether you are looking to camp for only one night or one week.

Many companies have their own version of a military sleeping bag that includes all the components of a real military-issued unit. Some offer lighter designs that are still efficient. However, the heavy duty designs are generally comprised of four units that campers can make use of individually or combine together to make a sturdy all-weather unit built for survival purposes. These types of sleeping bags are quite popular with professional campers or hikers and also with those who do research in extreme conditions. A military sleeping bag guarantees the utmost in protection when it comes to sleeping bags.

A military sleeping bag that has the Military Specification Modular Sleep System (MSS) comes with the following features:

If you do, there is a good chance that you also enjoy eating outdoors. If you enjoy hosting backyard barbeques or picnics, you may want to consider buying a buying yourself a picnic table, if you don't already own one.

If this is your first time attempting to buy a picnic table, your first though may be to head on down to your local home and garden store. While this approach is more than doable, you may want to take the time to find the perfect picnic table for yourself. What you need to remember about picnic tables, especially those that will be fixated in your backyard, is that they are not only a place for you and your guests to eat at. Picnic tables and their appearance can also say a lot about yourself and the quality of your home. That is just one of the many reasons why you may want to take your time when looking to buy your first picnic table.

One of the best ways to ensure that the picnic table you do choose to buy is the one that is best for you and your needs is by taking a number of important factors into consideration. One of those factors is what you plan to use your picnic table for. This factor is important, as it may have an impact on what type of picnic table you choose to buy, as well as how many you do end up buying. If you are looking to have a picnic table for recreational purposes, in your own backyard, it should be much easier for you to buy a picnic table for yourself than it would be if you were looking to buy a picnic table for commercial purposes.

Size is another one of the many factors that you will want to take into consideration, when looking to buy a picnic table for yourself. This factor works in conjunction with your intended picnic table uses. For instance, if you have a large family or if you regularly plan on hosting backyard get togethers, you may want to get more than one picnic table or at least one that is large in size.

Picnic table designs are another one of the many factors that you will want to take into consideration, should you decide to buy a picnic table for yourself or your home. You should know that picnic tables come in a number of different sizes, shapes, and styles. In addition to coming a wide range of different colors, as well as being made with a number of different materials, you should be able to find picnic tables that come in different formats. Most standard picnic tables come as one piece, but it is possible to find three piece picnic tables. These are picnic tables where the seating benches are often separated from the table itself.

Cost is another factor that you will want to take into consideration, when looking to buy a picnic table. When examining picnic tables, you will find that they are sold for a wide range of prices. Often times, you will find that cost of picnic tables tends to depend on two main factors. These factors include where you purchase your picnic table from, as well as the style you choose to buy. Even if you are on a budget, you should be able to find a picnic table that you can afford. This may involve a little bit of research and price comparison, but it should be more than possible for you to find quality, yet affordable picnic tables.

The above mentioned factors are just a few of the many factors that you will want to take into consideration, should you decide to buy a picnic table for your backyard. When it comes to making your purchase, you may want to examine your local department stores, home and garden stores, or you can use the internet.

Do you love spending time outdoors? If you do, have you ever thought about hosting a picnic? Although hosting a picnic can be a fun and exciting experience for you, it can also be a stressful and overwhelming one. That is one of the many reasons why not all individuals are able to handle hosting their own picnics, especially those that are larger in size. Before you decide to host a picnic for your friends or family members, there are a number of important factors that you will want to take into consideration. A few of those factors are outlined below for your convenience.

One of the many factors that you will want to take into consideration, when trying to determine if you should host a picnic is the size that your picnic would be. Who would you like to attend and how many people would you want to come? This is an important question that you will want to answer, as soon as possible, as it has a huge impact on the picnic planning stages, as well as whether or not you even want to host a picnic. For that reason, you should create a rough draft of the guests that you would like to invite to your picnic. If you are concerned with hosting a large picnic, you may want to start out small and only invite a few of your closest friends and family members.

Once you have determined an estimated number of picnic guests, you will then want then focus on the location. There are a number of different locations that are ideal for picnics. These locations tend to include state parks, local parks, campground parks, lakes, ponds, as well as in your own backyard. Why it is advised that you wait until after you have an idea as to how many guests you would like to invite to your picnic, is because the size of your picnic may limit your options. For instance, if you have a small backyard, you may not be able to have a large picnic. In that instance, a state park or a local park may be a better option for you, and so forth.

As you likely already know, hosting a picnic involves a lot more than choosing a location or creating a guest list. As the host of a picnic, you will likely have to arrange all of the food and drinks, as well as purchase them. For that reason, you will want to focus on how much money you want to spend. In fact, you may actually want to focus on how much money you do have to spend. Creating a budget for yourself is nice, as it can serve as an important guide for you. A budget can help prevent you from spending more money than you need to spend or more money than you have to spend.

Speaking of the food and drinks, you may want to examine what food and drinks you would like to serve at your next picnic. What is nice about being the host of a picnic is that you have the freedom to serve whatever you want. With that in mind, you should know that popular picnic food includes barbeque meats, as well as sandwich meats. As for picnic drinks, bottled drinks, such as bottled water, comes highly rated and recommended among many picnic goers. If you are looking to reduce the amount of money that you have to spend, you may want to think about asking your guests to contribute. They can easily do this by brining a side dish with them.

The above mentioned factors are just a few of the many factors that you will want to take into consideration, before you decide to host a picnic. Although hosting a picnic may seem like a long, complicated, and overwhelming process, it isn't always.

If you still picture camping tents as being made of canvas and requiring a good bit of pole setting and staking, then you're in for a bit of a surprise when it comes to the camping tents that you can readily find today. From cocoon like miniature tents that are just big enough for your sleeping bag to large room sized tents that can fit the whole family, the kind of tent that you select is just like any other piece of camping equipment that you might purchase - it just depends on the kind of camping that you plan on doing.

First, start by considering where and when you plan on using your tent. Many tents are rated by the number of seasons that they are designed to withstand. For example, four season tents are those that are more durable, wind and cold resistant so that they can be used in severe winter conditions. Other camping tents may be rated as three seasons, meaning that they are not best for use in severe cold. Read the information provided by the manufacturer in the product description to determine what weather conditions it is best for.

Beyond the weather conditions, you'll find a wide variety in the sizes and types of features that are available. If you are a single traveller or are camping with someone that you don't mind sharing intimate quarters with and you want to carry as light a load as possible, then consider the bivouac type of camping tents. These are simple, cocoon type shelters that basically provide an extra layer of protection by creating a sheath that is a few inches away from the sleeping bag all around you.

For those who would prefer a bit more elbow room, more traditional tents start at a size meant for one person an can continue up to a kind of room sized tent that is large enough for a family - or more. For the smaller to medium camping tents, many of them are 'pop-up,' or in other words, they unfold to their assembled shape, making them easy to set up. Of course, the larger the tent that you select, the more assembly that will be required by you.

Beyond size, you'll find numerous features regarding the tent itself. From color to material to design, the variety is nearly endless. You can find a basic camping tents with no frills, or you can get ones that have 'windows' and 'skylights' and even 'rooms' within the tent. Of course, with that variety comes a huge range of prices and weights as well - important things to remember when you are travelling alone or on a budget.

The proper camping gear is what is going to make your camping trip fun and exciting as well as safe. You will need the tent or camper for sure, but you also need gear such as pet camping supplies if you have a pet along, flashlights, a portable grill, lawn furniture, coolers, and heaters and insect repellent. If you think about it, you will probably need it when you are camping. This goes for your cooking supplies, bedding, and cleaning and bathing supplies. When you go camping, you do need some camping gear to be happy and safe.

Pet Camping Gear

The number one thing on your list for pet camping gear should be the pet tag that is motion activated. This going to help you see the dog, but also allows others to see the dog when it is pitch black outside. This is going to protect your pet and others from a potentially dangerous encounter. You should also include a dog bed or a lounger for them. The lounger is nice because it keeps them off the ground. The pet gear should also include a first aid kit, toys and enough food and water. Different water sources can affect a dog's body and can cause diarrhea.

Other Camping Gear

You might even need to bring along a repair kit for your camper top or tent. If you do discover a leak, you are going to need to repair it even if it is temporary, so you do not have any rain or bugs getting inside. Camping gear should also include a first aid kit. No one knows for sure that they will not cut their finger or need some antibiotic cream. You should also have plenty of batteries or a rechargeable battery for the any of your gear that requires batteries.

You should also have camping gear that includes binoculars, hunting knife, and rain gear and of course, tin foil. Once you have everything you need, you should be all set to get out on the road and find a great place to camp. Camping equipment is actually anything that you think you might need. Some people will not need the pet camping gear, but some may need gear for kids. The idea behind camping is to have everything that is going to make it fun, safe and relaxing. Whatever you need to accomplish this should be a part of your camping gear.

I can't wait to hit the trails and climb the mountains! I mean I like to go all out and scale those fierce rock walls with just some chalk on my hands and no safety cables whatsoever. Okay, you caught me; I'm lying. Hey, this isn't "Cliffhanger" you know. Anyway, I really do like to hit that wilderness scene for a fun weekend of camping, hiking and lounging by the fire ring. There's just something relaxing about crickets chirping at night and the bright moon washing over my face. Not a car in sight for miles; no chaos of crowds and pitter-patter of marching feet. Yes sir, that visit with Mother Nature is often much needed. So, have you taken any good camping adventures lately? One thing you'll need to make sure is up to speed is your outdoor camping equipment. Do you have all the necessities for a fun and eventful weekend away from home?

I know where to search for the best outdoor camping equipment. It's rather simple really. All I have to do is kick back on my living room sofa and pop open my Mac Ibook G4. Suddenly I'm in cyberspace. With the aid of my Google search engine I can literally hit up all the best stores. When I say best stores I'm talking about the coolest websites that offer the absolute lowest prices to date on outdoor camping equipment.

You don't know how to make sure you're finding the best deals? No problem! Pop open a little website called Bizrate.com and it will provide you with a list of sites that compete with a wide range of products and prices. This way you can be certain you're not getting shafted on all the new outdoor camping equipment. Last summer I was in search of a contemporary family tent. Now, my first plan was to hit up the local R.E.I. They tend to have all the finest outdoor camping equipment you can imagine. While I did spot a tent that caught my attention, I wasn't sure that the price was the lowest. In fact I was pretty darn certain it wasn't. This prompted me to get online and browse the Internet superhighway for a list of competitors that offer an array of outdoor camping equipment. I was determined to not get shafted. After a little shopping around, I was able to find the tent for nearly 30 percent less. Now that's discount outdoor camping equipment. That extra effort was well worth the low cost.

If you are, have you ever thought about having a picnic? If you have yet to do so, it is something that you may want to take the time to think about.

When it comes to determining whether or not you should have a picnic, there are many individuals who wonder how they can know if it is a good idea. There are actually a number of signs that you can use to determine if having a picnic, namely hosting a picnic, is a good idea. Just a few of these signs are outlined below.

One of the biggest signs that you may want to look into having a picnic is if you are looking to spend quality time with your family. Picnics can be done with one person or fifty of them, but they tend to be best when they are done with family. When you have a picnic you are all able to spend time eating and playing many games or outdoor sports. This is what makes picnicking a fun family activity. No matter how many members are in your family or what their ages are, everyone would likely love going on a picnic adventure.

In addition to looking to have good, quality time with your family, if you are looking to have a romantic date or adventure, you may want to go on a picnic. What is nice about picnics, as previously mentioned, is that they can be a lot of things. For instance, if you want to have a romantic time with your partner, you can do so. On the other hand, if you are looking to have a fun time with your family, a picnic can also do that for you as well. One tip, however, if you are looking to use your picnic as a romantic date is to pick a picnic spot that is somewhat secluded.

Another one of the many signs that you may want to think about having a picnic is if you are looking to have a fun adventure, but save money at the same time. For many couples and families, a simple picnic can turn into a whole day of fun. This is because you can do many other activities as well. Popular picnic activities including volleyball, soccer, softball, and so forth. What is nice about these activities is that they should be free for you to play, especially if you already have the needed equipment. That is why it is affordable to have a picnic adventure, as often times you only have to pay for your food and drinks.

Another one of the many signs that you may want to think about having a picnic or hosting a picnic is if you are looking for a change. Yes, picnics are popular, but they do not occur as often as they use to. Many families and romantic couples would prefer to go out to eat at a restaurant or stay at home. If you and your romantic partner or you and your family do not usually have picnics, at a park or even in your backyard, you may want to think about having one. Whether your picnic is intended to be quality family time or a romantic getaway, you may enjoy the change. In fact, you may enjoy it so much that you want to continue having picnic adventures, possibly on a regular basis.

As previously stated, one of the many reasons why picnics are so popular is because they can take place at a number of different locations. For instance, you can have a picnic at a campground park, a state park, near a lake, or even in your own backyard. Perhaps, that is what is best about picnics, your possibilities are endless. If you have yet to have a picnic adventure, you may want to get started with planning your first one.

Or what about no flights to catch, no security hassles, no hauling of heavy bags in and out of costly hotel rooms. If you are, you are definitely not alone. In the United States, a large number of individuals enjoy hiking, often whenever they get the chance to do so.

Although there is a good chance that you may have gone hiking before, there is also a chance that this hiking adventure may be your first one. If that is the case, you may be wondering what you should bring along with you. If you are, you will want to continue reading on, as some common hiking gear pieces and hiking supplies are outlined below for your convenience.

Before examining some of the common pieces of hiking gear that you should bring with you on your hiking adventure, as well as other hiking supplies, it is important that you take the length of your adventure into consideration. If you are planning on camping overnight on a hiking trail or in a hiking park, you will need to have some additional supplies, like a camping tent, sleeping bag, and so forth. The above mentioned items can serve as a great starting point for you, but you may also want to think about creating your own hiking adventure checklist.

When it comes to hiking gear, one of the most important pieces of gear that you will come across are hiking boots or hiking shoes. Many individuals do not know that they should actually go hiking in boots or shoes that are designed for hiking. Unfortunately, many individuals set out on a hike in traditional sneakers or even sandals. Hiking shoes are not only comfortable, as they are designed for hiking trail terrain, but they can also be used as a safety tool. With strong support for your feet and your ankles, hiking shoes and boots can help reduce your risk of injury in the event of a slip or a small fall.

A hiking stick is another piece of hiking gear that you may want to think about buying or brining along with you. Hiking sticks can be purchased from sport stores, but hiking sticks can also be found by scavenging through your backyard. Hiking sticks are not only nice because they look neat, but they can also help you keep your balance. Also, in the event that you fall or have a hiking accident, your hiking stick can be used to bang against rocks or something else to help get the attention of rescue workers or passerby's.

As for the clothing that you will want to wear on your next hiking adventure, it will depend where you are going hiking, for how long, and what the weather will be like. You are advised to thoroughly examine the weather forecast before leaving for your hiking trip. Even if the weather is expected to be nice, you may still want to bring a few warm clothes with you, as you should also be prepared for the unexpected. An extra change of clothes is also advised. If you are concerned with space, you may want to think about look into buying some of those space saving bags, which are perfect for hiking.

You will also want to make sure that you bring a selection of food, snacks, and drinks with you on your next hiking adventure. As for drinks, you will find that water is the best. As for the snacks, you will want to make sure that you bring snacks that are easy to eat, like small bags of trail mix, pretzels, or other easy to eat and transport snacks. If you will be hiking and camping at the same time, you want to make sure that you bring more than just snacks; you will also want to bring real food. You may want to think about making yourself a few sandwiches, as well as bringing along a few pieces of fruit.

Additional items that you will want to bring along with you on your next hiking adventure include a map of the hiking park or hiking trail in question, a compass, a cell phone, and a first aid kit. Of course, these items, in most cases, are optional, but they are items may make your next hiking adventure enjoyable, as well as safe.

If you would, have you already selected your intended destination or your campground park? If you have yet to do so, you will want to continue reading on.

When it comes to choosing a campground park to camp at, there are a number of different approaches that are taken. In all honesty, most campers choose one of the campgrounds that is located closest to them and others, literally, just pick a campground park out of their phone book. While these approaches do work, it is important to remember that you do not necessarily know what you are getting. If you are looking to have one of the best camping trips ever, you will want to take the time to find the campground park that is perfect for you and your needs.

As nice as it is to hear that you should carefully choose the campground park that you end up camping at, you may be wondering exactly why that is so. What you need to remember is that not all campgrounds and campground parks are the same. This is something that many people fail to realize, but it is something that can have a huge impact on the success of your next camping trip. If you are not careful, your next camping trip can seem more like a nightmare than a vacation.

Another one of the many reasons why you should carefully choose your next campground park is because it may have an impact on how much you have to pay to go camping. Campground parks often charge varied admission fees. If you are not careful, you may end up paying more money than you need to. When examining the cost of a campground park reservation, it is also important to keep the onsite services, facilities, and activities in mind. The more you have access, the higher the cost of a campground reservation will likely be. With that in mind, it may be worth the extra costs, but not always.

As previously stated, not carefully choosing your campground park can turn your next camping trip into a nightmare. One of the reasons for that is because it impacts what you can do. That is why the services, facilities, and activities that you have access to at a campground park are important. You will want to look for a campground park that is filled with activities. For example, look for ones that may have playgrounds for children, swimming pools, fishing, boat rentals, and hiking trails. The more activities that you have access to at a campground park, the more likely you are to enjoy your camping trip.

Your campground park decision may also impact what you have to bring along with you. For instance, if the campground park that you choose to camp at does not have an onsite laundry room or a laundry facility, you would likely have to pack more clothes to bring along with you. The same can be said for the activities that you can participate in. For instance, if your campground park has a swimming pool or a hiking trail, you may want to bring along a bathing suit and sneakers, respectively.

The campground park that you choose to camp at may also have an impact on how many outside trips you have to make. In the United States, you can find a relatively large number of campground parks that have onsite general stores or even first aid centers or kits available. Should you forget to bring anything on your trip or even if you suffered a small injury, you may need to leave your campground park should you not have what you need onsite. While this may not seem like a huge deal, it may put a damper on your camping trip and impact its success.

The above mentioned ways are just a few of the many ways that your selected campground park can impact your next camping trip, both in positive and in negative ways. To help ensure your next camping trip is all that you had hoped it would be, you will want to take the time to find the campground park that best fits you, your needs, as well as your wants.

Most metropolitan areas through out the country have sporting goods stores or other types of retail businesses that carry camping supplies. What type of camping do you and your family enjoy, and what type of activities do while camping? Tent camping is much different that camping with an RV, and you will probably need to have a different set of camping supplies with you. Camping should be all about getting out into nature and enjoying the outdoors, not about struggling with your old antiquated camping supplies. There is something for everything you will need while camping, things you don't even know you need until you see them in a camping supplies catalog, in the store, or online. And yes, you don't need all this new fangled stuff, but it sure makes life in the wild easier. Remember, it's just the little things.

Retail stores like REI, Recreational Equipment Inc., specialize in equipment and supplies for every outdoor enthusiast and their interests. The also have a website, www.rei.com, where you can order camping supplies online and get email notifications of sales, etc. Whatever it is you enjoy, from camping, hiking, biking, backpacking, kayaking, climbing, skiing, snowboarding, fishing, or hunting (forgive me if I leave something out, it's not intentional!). REI is the place to shop when looking for unique camping supplies and equipment; remember I said you might not know you need it until you see it! Online camping supplies are also available from www.campmor.com. Campmor has a huge selection of backpacks, clothing, shoes, tents, sleeping gear, camp furniture, cooking gear, and camp tools. You can also receive a Campmor catalog through the mail if you prefer. Every item that is carried on the website is in the catalog too, so you can shop for more camping supplies even when you don't have internet access.

In addition to Campmor, discount camping supplies can be found at any discount retail center, such as Wal-Mart. If you are shopping online, there is a good selection of discount camping supplies available at where else, www.discountcampingsupplies.com. This site has a number of links to retailers that have discount camping supplies for sale, such as the REI outlet store at www.rei.com, and Campfire Sales at www.campfiresales.com. You're sure to find just what you are looking for at any one of these camping supply stores. Get out there and be one with nature, go camping!

Persons who enjoy frequent camping trips may not appreciate the quality found in discount camping gear, as they look for products that can withstand the rigors of being used every weekend. However, there are those who will used it infrequently and are quite happy being able to buy discount camping gear for occasional use. That is not to say that all gear sold at a reduce price is not durable, but it may take some doing to find quality camping equipment at reduced prices.

There is a difference between discount camping gear can cheap equipment, and knowing how to tell the difference can make it possible to save money on quality gear. Many makers of durable equipment will occasionally discontinue to line of products and offer their inventory of old merchandise at a big savings. Buying this discount camping gear can net a great product at a great price, but it can also mean the sale of factory seconds to the uninitiated buyer of camping equipment.

For the most part, persons who only camp occasionally will be well served by buying discount camping gear, as its durability is not as important. Most products are designed to meet the immediate needs of the campers, but are not designed for extended or frequent use.

Considers Price Based On Frequency Of Use

Buying discount camping gear should not be a spur of the moment decision. If a person buys, for example a camp stove that will only be used about six teams a year and pays $30, that works out to $5 for each use, and it it works fine for 10 camping trips, they will simply toss it and buy a new one every couple of years.

On the other hand, a person who will use it 30 times a year would have to replaced it twice in one year. Buying a better quality stove for $60 that lasts three or four years, will be a better savings for them instead of buying discount camping gear not designed to last. How frequent the equipment will be used and any potential abuse it will suffer needs to be considered.

There are many items that are ideal to buy as discount camping gear, especially if the plan is to use it for one season and then replace it, however if the idea is to buy it and have it last for several years, discount camping gear may not be the best investment.

Camping of all types is great fun, but one of the most satisfying types of camping is backpack camping. When you go backpack camping, you can really get out into unspoiled nature. By going backpack camping, you are getting out of the roadside campgrounds and out into the wilderness. backpack camping gives you the chance t experience actual nature. You will see fish and chipmunks and hooty-owls. You can march along singing Fa la lee. Fa la la, Fa la lee. Fa la ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Backpack camping is such fun.

When you go backpack camping, you can't take along everything that you can bring to your campsite when you go car camping so you need to plan and prepare more carefully. You should consider where you will be going and pack accordingly. Since you only have limited space, you will need to be selective about what you bring. All the heavy bulky items must be left behind. When going backpack camping you will need to limit yourself to one pot, one pan, one cup, one fork, one spoon, one knife and so on. when you go backpack camping you will be out and away from civilization so you will need to be self sufficient. You will need to bring a sharp axe to cut firewood, but you had better make it a small one.

If you will be backpack camping near any mountain lakes or streams, you may want to bring some light fishing gear. Of course, you will need a tent for backpack camping and a small lightweight one should fit the bill. When backpack camping, you will also need a sleeping bag. The type you get will depend on the season and on the altitudes you will be camping at.

If your backpack camping will be taking you to high altitudes, which is where I see us all in five years…then you will need a warm, but light sleeping bag. These can be costly, but the discomfort they will save you by not having to lug a big heavy sleeping bag around or suffering through a series of long cold nights because your sleeping bas is inadequate. So if your backpack camping will be taking you high up into the mountains where it is very cold at night, even in the summer, you would be wise to invest in the best new high tech sleeping bag you can afford.

Backpack camping can be great fun with the proper planning and preparation. Backpack camping is great exercise and spending time in the back country away from all the rat race and noise of your daily life is so rejuvenating that you will be more than glad you went backpack camping.

As your home away from home, it's important to choose the tent for camping that will serve the needs of you and your family so that you remain safe, comfortable, and can enjoy your camping vacation. There are a number of factors that go into the selection of the appropriate tent, such as the locations that you plan to camp, the number of people that you will need to put in each tent, and the amenities that you want or need in each tent.

One of the most important things to consider when looking at a tent for camping is where you plan to use it. In the US, camping tents are generally divided into two categories; three season and four season. As the names imply, three season tents are made to be used in only three of the seasons - spring through fall. They are not made of materials and construction elements that make them useful in the colder climates during the winter. If you plan to do winter camping or even cold altitude camping in warmer climates, then you would want to look for a four season tent.

Secondly, the tent you select depends on the number of people that you want to have in your tent or tents. If you are alone, then obviously you won't need as much space as if you need to fit a family of six into your tent for camping. Plus, you may want to consider dividing your group into separate tents. Or, if you prefer, you can still have some privacy for the people in your group while camping under one 'roof' by purchasing a tent that has flaps which act as dividers inside the tent in order to create 2 or more interior 'rooms.' Also consider the activities that you'll be doing inside the tent. If it's going to be used just for sleeping, then that would mean you'd need less room and less height than if you plan to need to walk around inside the tent.

Tent fabric is important because it determines your protection from the elements as well as the weight of the tent for camping. Cotton gets heavier when it's wet, so most tents are made from nylon and polyester blend now. Checking the 'hydrostatic head' that is labelled on the tent for camping tells you how waterproof the tent will be. The higher the number, the better. You can increase the weather resistance of a tent if it has more than one 'sheet' or layer. These layers are also called 'skins' and stretch down around the tent and funnelling water away from the roof. You should also invest in a good ground sheet to reinforce the tent for camping and protect it from rips, tears and wear, as well as to keep the groundwater away from you.

There are not too many motorcycle camping trailers in which people can sleep, but they can be used to tote everything needed for time on the road to be more comfortable. Designed to be lightweight and pulled behind a motorcycle, the trailers can carry a tent, sleeping bag and other items to make camping on the road more like home instead of having to sleep under the stars. Some of the larger motorcycle camping trailers can even carry a canopy roof under which the riders can sleep in the event of rain.

Until the use of motorcycle camping trailers became for acceptable, riders hoping for an extended road trip had to rely on good weather or motels to provide shelter at the end of a long day of riding. Today however, the trailer have grown in size as well as stability allowing motorcyclists to enjoy the camping options previously offered to four-wheel vehicles.

Most of the motorcycle camping trailers designed today offer low resistance as well as low resistance to side winds, helping them be more stable on the road. Typically, about six-feet long and two to three-feet wide, they may not add to the stability of the motorcycle, but they also not detract from the rider's ability to keep the bike upright.

Pop-Up Trailers Provide More Convenience

Some of the larger motorcycle camping trailers, not initially designed as cargo carriers, will function similar to small pop-up trailers, folded down for ease of towing and able to be set up in minutes as a camper for two people. These trailers usually have a soft top and collapsible metal frames that quickly turn into a camper, complete with a canopy roof and side windows for ventilation.

They are lightweight, usually between 200 and 250 pounds, making them easy to two behind average sized bikes. While several varieties of motorcycle camping trailers serve essentially as cargo trailers, the newer camping trailers offer more convenience and comfort for sleeping in campsites or along the road. Some will even have a separate dressing area, standing higher than the sleeping area for ease of changing clothes while camping.

One of the many benefits of the newer motorcycle camping trailers is they are quick to set up and repack the next day, making them convenient to use for one-night stops on a road trip. They can also provide shelter from harsh weather without the need to find a motel to stay in until storms pass through the area.

You will have a much more relaxed and enjoyable camping holiday if you are organized well in advance - and that means a sound camping equipment check. Whether you are going for a week end or a fortnight it is best to determine where you want to go and check where the camp sites are. It is a good idea to call ahead and make sure that there will be a space for you - especially if the period includes a national holiday. Make sure that you have some knowledge of the area in which you'll be staying before you set off. If you plan on taking the family dog check whether that's allowed early on - if it isn't then you may need to find a kennels.

When people talk about camping equipment they usually mean most or all of the following as basic equipment:

* Tent
* Ground sheet
* Tent poles
* Tent pegs
* Sleeping bags
* Camping stove and kettle
* Blankets - it gets cold at night
* A large torch
* Portable lamp
* Portable toilet
* Pots, pans and cutlery
* Insect spray
* Water carrier - you don't want to be trekking for this every five minutes

You can probably think of other camping equipment that you would regard as essential, especially if you're a seasoned camper. People often forget the silliest things and it is a good idea to make your lists well in advance. Check your camping equipment and make sure that everything is in good order - there's nothing worse than putting your tent up and finding a nasty split in the top.

Many campsites will have a camp shop for daily necessities and some may even stock some pieces of camping equipment - but don't rely on it. Make sure that you have tea/coffee, coke and dried milk. The first thing you will want once you've arrived and put up the tent is something to drink. Take some cookies and potato chips for late night munching.

If this is a family holiday then don't go without some books and games to keep the kids amused. You might also want to add aspirins, bandage and antiseptic cream to your camping equipment list. Whatever you do don't go without matches and paraffin (if that's what you use) to light the stove. Always take some insect repellent and sun cream, even if it isn't summer you'll be spending more time in the outdoors. Make sure that you have towels, soap and toothpaste before you make your final camping equipment check - and have a great, stress free holiday.

If you are, you will soon find that you have a number of different decisions to make. One of the many decisions that you will have to make, when looking to plan a camping trip, involves deciding what type of food, drinks, and snacks you would like to bring along with you. If you would like assistance with doing so, you will want to continue reading on.

One of the many food items that you will want to think about bringing along with you on your next camping trip is that of meat. Meat is a popular camping food, as many campers like to cook outdoors and have a barbeque. When it comes to meat, you have a number of different options, including chicken, steak, hot dogs, hamburgers, and sausages. If you buy your meat ahead of time and freeze it, be sure to leave enough time for your meat to properly thaw before each of your meals. Also, be sure to keep your meat cold in a cooler filled with ice.

As nice as barbequed meats are, many campers like to have full meals. If that is the case with you and the rest of your camping party, you may want to think about buying a few bagged salads. Bagged salads are nice, as they are pre-made and they come in a number of different styles, including ones filled with other vegetables. What you will want to do though is make sure that your bagged salads are kept in a cooler and that each opened bag is sealed with a rubber band or a bag clip.

Condiments are just a few of other items that you will want to think about brining along with you on your next camping trip. Your condiments may include mayonnaise, salad dressing, relish, ketchup, and mustard. What you may want to think about doing is just buying each of these items new for your camping trip. As nice as many of those outdoor camping condiment containers are, they can be messy to fill and transport. With most condiment items, like ketchup and mustard, costing less than two dollars each, it may be more than worth it for you to just buy your condiments new.

In addition to "real," food, you will also want to bring a selection of snacks with you on your next camping adventure. When doing so, it may be best to go with bagged snacks, as they are often nice and easy to transport and maintain. You can do something like a large bag of pretzels or chips or you can get the individuals packs. What is nice about bagged snacks is that they aren't all unhealthy foods anymore. You can find a number of healthy bagged snacks for you to take with you on your next camping adventure.

You will also want to bring a large selection of drinks along with you. Make sure that you have a lot of water, especially if the weather is forecasted to be warm and sunny. When bringing along other drinks with you, you will want to try and stick with anything bottled. Bottled drinks help to ensure that nothing will get spilled or tossed away after being left out for a while. This, essentially, can save you money. If you are camping with children, it is important to know that many juices are being sold in bottles; however, juice boxes may work as well.

The above mentioned items are just a few of the many food, drinks, and snacks that you may want to think about brining along with you on your next camping trip. When buying food, snacks, and drinks, you may want to create a list for yourself beforehand. You may also want to start buying your food, snacks, and drinks in advance, especially when you can find what you need on sale, as it may be able to save you a considerable amount of money.

The hiking staff or walking stick is an important part of a hiker's equipment. They help take the load off your knees and help you maneuver down particularly steep descents.

Though the length of hiking staffs can very quite greatly, the recommended height is six feet or roughly, 1.74 meters, long. A hiking staff could simply be a plain stick, the kind that you break off branches while on the trail, or it could high-tech with such sophisticated features as telescopic paraphernalia and adjustable.

Depending thus on the kind of hiking staff you have, price can range from ten dollars to somewhere around a hundred. However, if you want a real bargain, then head on to the woods and select and secure your hiking staff.

It should be a stout straight wood. Its diameter about 1 1/2 inches, or 3.5-4 centimeters. Any type of wood may be used for making your own hiking staff, however, the most suitable woods are hickory, ash, oak, and iron wood (or "muscle wood"). You may also use good grades of elm, sugar maple, wild cherry, yellow birch, mountain ash, and Saskatoon for your hiking staff.

The hiking staff is a great gear to own. You can use it to test the depths of swamp holes and dark streams, or use it for guarding your face when pushing through heavy bush. The hiking staff may also be used for feeling your way in the dark and for carrying bundles over your shoulder when wading a stream.

Other hikers have found other uses for the hiking staff. The hiking staff can be used as poles for making emergency shelter, for signaling, for improvising a flagpole, for building a light bridge, and as handles for an improvised stretcher. Not only that, but you can also make use of your hiking staff for the forming of a barrier to control crowds, as well as for jumping ditches.

How to Make a Hiking Staff

Here is a simple guide to help you make your own hiking staff before you hit the trail:

* First, select and cut straight a 6-foot sapling that is approximately 1/2" diameter at its thick end.
* Next, store the sapling in a cool dry spot. Wait for 3-4 weeks before taking it out again.
* Trim the stick to 5'6" length.
* Then, carefully remove the bark. The bark over the second 12" may be left alone to provide you with better grip of your hiking staff.
* Afterwards, trim the knots until the stick feels smooth.
* Then, mark at 12" intervals beginning at top (the thick end).
* Mark top 6" at 1" intervals.
* Then, finally, treat with oil stain or preservative.

This procedure for making a hiking staff is, of course, is rather elaborate for a mere walking stick that you use for added support. But it's rather nice hiking around places carrying a nice looking walking stick that doesn't look remotely like something you just picked up from the woods.
