I keep on saying how much I dislike complaining about instant replay and yet, here I am, complaining about instant replay. Maybe I actually do enjoy complaining about it. Maybe I only feel truly alive when experiencing the vital adrenaline surge of pure, righteous anger. Maybe I can’t even trust myself anymore. I look in the mirror, I don’t recognize who it is staring back at me. But nevermind all that, I honestly do tire of retreading the same arguments and examples over and over again, around and around ad nauseum until everyone barfs all over each other like that scene in the Sandlot when they took chewing tobacco on the Trabant. White Sox Trending Up

As we hit Memorial Day weekend, the baseball season has been going for the better part of two months and one team that is playing better than I thought it would this season is the Chicago White Sox. Coming out of spring training I had all bad vibes about Sox potential in the summer of 2012, but right now while they may not be consistent, they are doing fairly well. For a lot of reasons, including solid starting pitching and the quasi-resurgence of Adam Dunn.

When I say fairly well I say compared to the fear I had that the Sox might be horrible this season, indeed even as bad as the Cubs. (Oh, no, not that!) Starting pitching is living up to its potential and that is huge.

Austin Jackson has been placed on the Detroit Tigers 15-day disabled list with an abdominal strain. Because Jackson has been out of the Tigers lineup since the middle of May, he will be eligible to return on June 1. Detroit has yet to determine the extent of the injury, so it’s not yet known if Jackson will be able to return when he’s eligible to come off the DL. MLB Game Recaps: Justin Verlander Loses Pitcher’s Duel

It’s not often you’ll see Justin Verlander give up two runs, strike out seven, and go eight innings, but lose. Last night was one of those rarities though. Justin Masterson of the Indians matched Verlander pitch for pitch and helped the Indians to a 2-1 victory.

Masterson tossed seven innings, allowed five hits, gave up just the one run, and struck out four. Aside from his high walk total, it was perhaps his best start since his first start of the year.

The Indians scored first off a Shin-Soo Choo home run in the bottom of the first inning. They added their second, and winning, run in the fourth. Michael Brantley singled off Verlander with two outs, then promptly stole second. He was singled home by Jose Lopez.

The win pushed the Indians to 26-18 while the Tigers fall to 20-24. Justin Verlander‘s record drops to 5-2 on the season.
