New GTA5 Screenshots Explained

Take Two released a fresh batch of Grand Theft Auto V screenshots this morning and the internet started buzzing. I’m going to break down just when and where in the campaign they take place and point out the secrets Rockstar doesn’t want you to know.

The first image is at the top of the page. It takes place in the very first mission of the game. The main antagonist is featured here leaning on his totally sweet ride waiting for your playable character to leave school (brick building on the left) for the day. He seems really upset about that suspension.

GTAV has Instagram. Confirmed. This probably also comfirms the presence of smartphones. Will a mission objective require taking pictures of lunch? Probably.

This screenshot has a motorcycle in it because this is GTAV and of course motorcycles are in it. This image also serves to remind us all that The Lost and Damned was pretty damn good.

I’m pretty sure this is a picture taken in Oregon and will not be in the retail release. It’s still a very pretty picture.

Grand Theft Auto V will break from series conventions and star a police officer. This is a screenshot of a mission where taking the spotlight off the car leads to mission failure.

This hand-carried gatling gun will be pre-order DLC. The green handkerchief is a microtransation. Handkerchiefs are available in pink only. Additional colors are $2.99.

Sky diving, because, why not?

A pre-mission cutscene involves diving to a location to probably kill some people. Players will be amazed that they can go scuba diving in game until the cutscene ends and the player is back on land.

GTAV uses lens flares in an effort to outdo Mass Effect.

This is a screenshot from the final mission of the game. If it’s raining, you know something big is going down. Entertainment rules.

Resident Evil 6/L4D2 Crossover Looks Amazing

Valve teased a crossover between Resident Evil 6 and Left 4 Dead 2 last week with the following images.

Left 4 Dead 2 characters Nick, Ellis, Coach and Rochelle will be available as playable characters in The Mercenaries: No Mercy. I have never personally enjoyed The Mercenaries as a game type, but I also have not played much of Resident Evil 6. The short video that was recently released looks great. Capcom has an amazing engine that they work with. The inclusion of characters and special infected from the Left 4 Dead franchise is a natural fit and a smart move.

While the console version of the game appears to be getting the short end of the stick, the PC port has taken a long time and the little bonus is nice. Resident Evil character skins are also available in the Left 4 Dead 2 Steam workshop.

PlayStation All-Stars Patch 1.10 is Live
