A new map, new weapons and more will be included in the update/dlc. Here’s a trailer:

What the video above doesn’t say is that matchmaking has allegedly been improved and the ability to join friends in progress has been added. Those “features” are way more important that new maps or weapons anyway.

Of course, there is no such thing as 100% free. While the multiplayer portion of the game will be free to play (including every map), progression will be capped, and the price of admission beyond that will be $15. If you were ever interested in trying the game out, here’s why you should.

The full retail version of Killzone 3 sells for about $29.99 on Amazon and http://www.gamestop.com/ps3/games/killzone-3/77979″>Gamestop. In addition, to play on all the maps, you’ll need to purchase the Killzone 3 Map Pack Bundle.

The campaign for Killone 3 isn’t anything outstanding and the multiplayer is far superior. This free download is definitely worth checking out, and may be a purchase in your future that you won’t regret.

If you’re willing to help out at their booth, you can get your hands on an “exhibitor badge” which gives badge holders exclusive access to the show floor. If this seems too good to be true, it kind of is, so be sure to head on over to the official Twisted Pixel website and check it out.

The pack will be launching on the PlayStation Network sometime tomorrow, and on the 13th of December for the Xbox 360 and on PC via Origin. From the beginning, EA and DICE have been calling this an “expansion pack” and not a “map pack” for good reason. Not only will a few remastered maps be added into the game, but new weapons, vehicles and “assignments” as well. All this new stuff will cost $15 (1200 MSP) for anyone who didn’t purchase the Limited Edition. Those folks will have it for the low price of free.

“Bloodbath Arena” will be available for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC on November 22. Based on the information released so far, it appears that this is the standard “kill waves of enemies” DLC that developers love to add to their games. These also tend to be the worst pieces of add-on content, so you may want to do some research before buying.

Speaking of price, if you pre-ordered the game and received the Limited Edition, you’ll be downloading “Bloodbath Arena” for free. Everyone else will be paying $9.99 or 800 MSP. No word yet on whether Steam pre-orders will be getting this content for free or not.
