<br />
If you would like some seeds just email me at thegardener at bucolicbushwick dotcom and I'll send you whatever seeds you've requested as long as I still have them in stock.<br />
<br />
<strike>Cherry Tomato: Sunsugar F1, 62 Days</strike><br />
Fantastic tasting cherries, unfortunately the plant struggled in the rooftop environment so I can't recommend it to fellow rooftop gardeners. Ground level gardeners however should not have the same problems. If you like Sungold you'd like this variety as well.<br />
<br />
<strike>Eggplant: Orient Express F1, 58 Days</strike><br />
Container friendly, rooftop friendly, great flavor, productive plants. Recommended<br />
<br />
<strike>Melon: Lil Keeper F1</strike><br />
Container friendly, rooftop friendly, excellent flavor, very productive plants. Highly recommended.<br />
<br />
Sweet Corn: Sugar Buns F1, 70 Days<br />
No success for me on the roof, but that shouldn't stop you from trying them!<br />
<br />
Sweet Pepper: Giant Aconcagua OP, 75 Days [3rd Generation Rooftop Seeds]<br />
Container friendly, rooftop friendly, great flavor, very productive plants. Open pollinated so you can save seeds! Highly recommended. A Bucolic Bushwick favorite.<br />
<br />
<strike>Sweet Pepper: Orange Blaze F1, 65-70 days</strike><br />
Container friendly, rooftop friendly, excellent flavor, productive plants. My favorite seed of 2014.<br />
<br />
Tomato: Beaverlodge Slicer OP, 55 days [2nd Generation Rooftop Seeds]<br />
Container friendly, rooftop friendly, excellent flavor, very productive, compact plants. Open pollinated so you can save seeds! A Bucolic Bushwick favorite and <a href="http://www.bucolicbushwick.com/p/top-seeds.html">Top Rooftop Seed Recommendation</a><br />
<br />
<strike>Tomato: Pink Berkeley Tie Dye OP, 75 Days</strike><br />
Container friendly, rooftop friendly, excellent flavor. Not very productive, but the flavor made up for it. Open pollinated so you can save seeds! Recommended.<br />
<br />
Watermelon: Little Baby Flower F1, 70 Days<br />
Container friendly, rooftop friendly, very productive plants. Recommended.<br />
<br />

<br>
The wind is starting to pick up on the roof so that means it's time to start wrapping up the garden for winter. I toyed with the idea (for about 2 seconds) of planting carrots or some other fall crop to extend the harvest, but I've come to the conclusion that fall vegetable gardening is just not for me, at least on this specific rooftop. It's just too exposed to the elements. As the weather gets colder it gets windier up here, which makes it an increasingly unpleasant place to spend time. Gardening for me is a pleasure, not a chore, and I'm not interested in doing anything that will make it chore, so once the wind picks up I know it's time to wind down the garden. This will be a slow process however since many plants still bear fruits. Some of the tomato plants and all of the pepper plants still have a few more vegetables to give.<br>

October has been absolutely beautiful so far. I've only had to wear a jacket a once or twice since the beginning of the month. Daytime temps still touch the 70's and besides that one chilly weekend nighttime temps are in the 50's. Most of the plants are still on the roof and this year's harvest total is definitely on track to be my second best year ever.<br>

October is here, but daytime temps are still touching the low 70's, so the majority of the garden is still doing well. All the peppers plants are still here, which I'm incredibly happy about. The last time any pepper plant lasted this long on the roof was in 2010, my top harvest year. If the weather holds I think this year might be my second best!<br>
