How to capture a part of your screen using MS OneNote

Instead of installing other tools or applications to capture a part of your screen, you can use Microsoft OneNote.

1. Open MS OneNote from your Desktop

2. Click on File > Display

3. Under Display, refer to screenshot below for the items to place a check.

4. Upon closing OneNote, OneNote icon should be displayed in your System Tray.

To capture a part of your screen, press + S keys then select a part you want to capture.

Paste it to your Documents, Emails or in MS Paint.

Mapping your Local Shared Drive via Command Prompt

Except from using Windows Explorer, you can also Map a Shared Drive from your local network thru Command Prompt:

In the Command Prompt, type:

NET USE [preferred letter drive] \\Drive\You\Want\To\Map

Example:

NET USE [preferred letter drive] [IP Address of you local shared drive]

Example:

Preparations on your first day at work

After I leaved my previous company, tomorrow is my first day at work.

And today I’ll clean up everything including myself and prepare stuff that I will need.

For those who don’t have any idea on how to do it, try my tips.

Here are the following that I must accomplish today:

1. Have a haircut

The mirror of your personality will be your hair. That’s why, you have to choose a clean haircut. Try CLEAN CUT. Hahaha.

2. Trim your Beard, and mustache

While waiting for my employer’s call, I let my facial hair to grow. And now, I have to cut/trim it.

3. Self manicure

Who’s gay? There’s nothing wrong on men having a manicure. Just make your nails clean and don’t put any nail polish because it will look gay to others.

4. Prepare clothes

We’re required to wear business attire. And I’ve already prepared that I’m wearing tomorrow (Honestly, my mother prepared it! Hahahaha).

5. Shoe shine

You can do this all alone. You’ll only need is a shoe polish and a brush (or even a piece of fabric).

And when you’re done, have a beauty rest because tomorrow will be your big day.

Error Saving Webpage : This Webpage could not be saved.

This error appears whenever I try to save the page as Webpage, complete (*htm, *html) using Internet Explorer 7. I tried to save it using Mozilla Firefox but the page is having a problem on its css. I attempt to alter the codes from the saved htm and css files but still the css of the page doesn’t work.

Then I try the following steps:

1. Save it as : Web Archive, single file(*.mht)
2. Open the mht file in Internet Explorer.
3. Save it as: Webpage, HTML only (*htm, *.html*)

You will not believe it but it work. Although some components are missing but it is not included in my task. LOLz

I hope this problem can be fix on the future release of Internet Explorer.

What you can do on your Last Week of Work?

Starting today, it will be my Last Week at the office and will take another week to report on my new workplace. Until now, my stuffs are still unprepared although the title of this post concerns with the preparations. LOL

Here is the list of preparations you can do on your last week on work:

1. Pack-up all your stuffs

A week is too much to Pack-up all your stuffs. To have a smooth exit, try doing it now.

2. Check Important Documents

Check the papers you have in your workstation. Separate those important ones from your scratch papers and drawings.

3. Clean your Place

Clean your place for the benefit of the next user that will be assigned on it.

4. Bond with the others

Expect that this week will be the expensive but you can avoid that. Set any activity with them, playing sports then have a dinner afterwards.

Note; make sure that the sport can play by everybody.

5. Practice & Review

I’m in IT so before I report to my new workplace, I must review and practice the java programming and the frameworks and technologies they are using.

6. Improve my Blog here

Since we have a connection to my blog, I have to improve my blog stats before it's late because I don't have Internet connection at home. I have my Prepaid Broadband but it is very expensive to use.

On my last day, the last thing for me to do is gather signatures of my bosses for the clearance.

ERROR 619: A connection to the remote computer could not be established, so the port used for this connection was closed

This error appears to my Smart Prepaid Broadband two weeks ago.

This is what happen. I insert the SIM card of the prepaid kit to my cellphone to use the remaining load balance to text my girlfriend. After I sent a message, i return it to prepaid kit then connect it to my pc. The ERROR 619 shown out after i click the connect button from the Smart Broadband Prepaid Software.

I thought that there was a problem with the SIM card or the hardware of the prepaid kit, that's the time i decided to call Smart Customer Service. Operator told me that the signal on my After some troubleshooting, ERROR 619 is still there. And my final decision is to bring it to the nearest smart wireless outlet on the next day.

During the next day, i finally tried my Smart Broadband Prepaid Kit to connect to the web. I didn't expect that it will connect to the web without the ERROR 619.

Until now, I'm still wondering about what happen to my Smart Prepaid Broadband. Maybe i'll stop using the sim card to my phone again. I'm thankful that i can use internet again. Yes!!!

New Blogger Features : Pages

Blogger has a new features where you can up to 10 Pages and expose it in your blog.

Here are the ways to use it.

1. Login to Blogger.com

2. From your dashboard, Click on The Post button

3. From the Posting Tab, click Edit Pages link

4. Click New Page button.

5. You will see that it looks like you are creating your post. You can paste adsense ads or even search codes, texts. It depends on your creativity on how you will use the page. After

6. To save your page, you can click the PUBLISH PAGE button. It will ask you if you would like the Pages Gadget to appear. For bloggers who are using the blogger classic theme, Blog Tabs and Blog Sidebar options are appropriate. But in my case who’s using different theme, I prefer the No Gadget option because I will copy the link of that created page into my HTML code.

7. After you created your page, it will listed in your page list.

8. For the new bloggers, this is how I used the page. For the Experienced bloggers, nevermind the following steps I know you can do it more than I can do it. Harhar… 

9. From the Page List, select a page that you can use.

10. Right click from the link and choose Copy Link Location.

11. Then click the Layout Tab.

12. Find this part of my blog, then create a new one.

13. Paste the copied link to my code. And Publish. And this will be the Finish Product.

Bluetooth Video, Waiting for Connection

The error message Bluetooth Video, Waiting for Connection appears in Sony VAIO installed with Skype 4.1.0.179 for Windows.

Downgrading from Skype 4 to Skype 3 will do the trick. Now, i can call my girlfriend thru video call on Skype.

Disable the Yahoo Toolbar and AVG SafeSearch extensions in Tools > Addons >> Extensions . It will do the trick.

Smart Prepaid Broadband having problems with Windows XP SP3

I have my Smart Prepaid Broadband connected on my Windows XP SP2 pc. Every time that my pc will download and install the latest update from Microsoft which is the Service Pack 3, an error is always occurs which is pointing to some memory location. Every time it happens, I always reformat my pc which I’ve done almost 20 times last year.

I was enlightened when I remember that my advisor from an institute shares to our class that he was told by personnel from Smart Dealer that the Smart Prepaid Broadband product will only work properly in Windows XP Service Pack 2 but not in SP3. The reason? I’m still trying to figure out. But maybe, other Windows XP Users experiencing this kind of problem whatever their ISP is. That’s why when I last reformat my pc last week, I just registered my copy of windows thru the internet and turn off all the settings on the Group Policy under Windows Update. Until now, there was no error appearing on my desktop but sad to say that I will not get the latest Service Pack from windows until I’m not shifting to a Plan Broadband. The question is, why does the ISPs doesn’t work or release any patch or updates for this kind of issue with their product?

Venture of Applying

After my Venture of Applying, I signed my contract from an American company yesterday and will start after my 1 month notice from my previous company.

Actually it was 28 days because of my beloved girlfriend. I also filed my resignation letter and it was approved by my seniors. At last, I will escape from a shouting boss, super strict time, little salary increase, and specially an evil company. But I have to thank them anyways because without this company and macuha.com, I wouldn’t create this blog. But the time always comes that you have to say “bye bye” to everyone in your work place and say Hello World to your new company.

After studying about Hibernate Architecture, what are the next steps?

This post, we will tackle only Hibernate Best Practices and we'll not go into deeper explanation about it.

1. First, you must have a database. Hibernate supported many databases. But not in SQL Server. I don't know but, I'm having errors when i used SQL Server specially SQL Server 2000. In my case, i prefer to use mySQL.

2. Create a table, try the simple on. It may contain name of the Members of your family, friends or even Officemates. It depends on you. But make it simple as possible.

3. Download Hiberate3, dom4j, commons-logging, commons-collections, mysql-connector-java, c3pO, jta, log4j jar files.

4. After the Step #3 is finished, create a folder from your java project. Name it "lib". Copy-Paste the jar files to the lib folder then configure your build path and include them.

5. Create a hibernate configuration file. Then paste this code.

Note: Make sure that you create the configuration file inside src folder and you state the exact location of the MAPPING_FILE (e.g. com/hibernate/testing/mapping.hbm.xml)

6. Next, create a POJO(Plain Old Java Objects) or let simply say a Class with a setter and getter.

7. Lets create a mapping file.

Note : Like the configuration file, the mapping file must be with the configuration file inside the src folder.

8. Create a Client class. Name it EmployeeClient.java then paste this code.

The only thing you must remember is the configuration file, mapping file, and the POJO. If you are new to hibernate, make this post as your reference. Try to read more about hibernate then try to retrieve the data that we have entered in this post.

It's been a long time since I jump off to VB and shift to java. Since i already understand some of java's concept, I want to learn now the new technologies like Hibernate, Struts, and Spring. I've found a great site which contains basic concepts, history, and sample programs using the following frameworks and i want to share it to those developers reading this article.
