Following our last week’s new starting page lunch, we continue with opened place view, as promised. So, here it is, today we are proud to announce the all new redesigned opened place view is available. Let’s go over some features and new things.

Overall concept change

The new opened place view has been made more interactive, we have added event stream for a particular place, where you can see activities around it. There is now a block that shows other related places – places that are rated similarly to the given place by the same users. Also a possibility for cross platform place information sharing has been added, so now you can share places you love with your friends on Facebook.com, Twitter.com, Frype.com and many others.

Events stream

The events stream shows what is going on around the place. It shows everything from who has or will show up at the place, what events and when are going to take place, who added pictures to gallery, or edited wiki. It is basically the actual real time information about the place and people around it.

Related places block

This works a lot like amazon.com “Customers Who Viewed This Item Also Viewed…” we look at other places that have been rated similarly by users, thus rendering them interesting for people who view this place.

Other improvements

Wiki has undergone some changes and is now supporting some tags, for marking important information.
Ratings block has been changed, and is now showing your rating (you can rate the place), average rating and recommendation. Recommendation a lot of the time is not determined as we still don’t have a sufficient user ratings database, but hopefully it will be there soon.

Next in our list is your profile page. I’ll keep you updated on that.

It’s been a while It only goes to say that we’re working hard on redesigning main pages, and now we are proud to give you our new start page. This one is not only cool, but also useful. It has been redesigned based on user comments on what they would like to see on the first page.

Activities

Now you can easily see what and where is going on. Soon we’ll have pictures in the events section.

Events

Users want to see what and where has happened. Latest comments, latest places and other user activities.

Place of the day

We saw the need to emphasize some places, so we came up with the place of the day, where the most interesting places will get their day of fame.

Most active users

The same applies for most active users, we wanted everyone to know who they are, because they are people who fill Bonvoyagee with the interesting stuff you see and we’re lucky to have them. Activity is based on actions in the last 7 days, so the top is ever-changing, you too can be on the first page, by contributing to the community.

Popular places

Once we get to know you, we can offer personalized recommendation, until then popular places is the way to go, so similar to popular users we are showing popular places.

Future plans

Rebirth of the first page is just one step in Bonvoyagee redesign. Right know we are working on Opened place view, where emphasis will also be on activities and similar places. Also opened user and your profile are being redesigned.

Have a great weekend, find some cool places, and let everyone know

Hi, welcome to Bonvoyagee blog! Although we have been blogging since March 2009, this is the first post in English, so in few words about the project before we get to more recent activities on the site.

What is Bonvoyagee.com and why should you care?

People have always been interested in places. Where to go; where to eat; what to do? So Bonvoyagee is a site where you can find places you’ll like, through personalized recommendations and reviews by others. Personal recommendations happen because of our recommendations engine and the reviews are purely social, made by regular users just like all the content on the site. Anyone can add places, edit descriptions, add pictures, post reviews (comments, opinions) and rate places.

Social means that you can find not only interesting places, but also interesting people, follow their activities and tell them where you are and what you are doing.

Let’s talk about the features

The main purpose of the site is to be able to find and share interesting places. Although you can browse places (and people to some extent) while unregistered, the true power of Bonvoyagee is unleashed when you register.

Share activities

Add contacts from your Gmail and Twitter profiles, send invitation e-mails to people you know or find your friends already in Bonvoyagee.

Now you can follow their whereabouts and activities, and share your own activities with them. Use our mobile version to inform your friends of interesting places or happenings in real time. Upload pictures of events as they happen directly from your phone.

Find places

A lot of interesting places you will find through your contacts, but using our recommendation is useful too. Add places you know, rate them and leave a comment, or simply look for places using our search options. Our main search will look for places by name and description, and the secondary search can help you in finding place in a particular region on the map.

In the following weeks I will introduce you to all the features of Bonvoyagee and share our plans for the future. Feel free to comment, ask questions and suggest new features.

We want Bonvoyagee to satisfy your need for easier and more personal, face-to-face communication with people you care about and are interested in. Let’s take our relationships back to the Meet Space in a new quality!
