Ajay Devgn is said to be very happy with the response to his latest films.

Though not much has been said or written about it, both the latest releases of Ajay Devgn, All The Best and London Dreams have done extremely good business at the Box Office, which has suddenly given Ajay Devgn’s career an upward swing.

Though none the three films, which were released on Diwali made it big this year, it was All The Best, directed by Rohit Shetty and produced by Ajay Devgn, which took away the maximum applauds. What was even more encouraging for Ajay Devgn was that rather than the traditional serious and action oriented roles, which he is known for, Ajay Devgn was praised for trying his hands at comedy in this film.

Again, though it may not be a super hit, Vipul Shah’s London Dreams has managed to pull crowds and proved to be a profitable deal for the producers. Moreover, despite the fact that his role had slight negative shades in it, Ajay Devgn is being praised all-over for his excellent performance in London Dreams.

Happy with the success of All The Best and the praise he has got for London Dreams, Ajay Devgn recently threw a party at his house. When asked Ajay said the good response to the two films was important for him, since it showed that he was being accepted in different kinds of roles. Ajay added, "It’s a great feeling that at this stage of my career, I am being seen in movies as diverse as a London Dreams or an All The Best. At one point of time, I was doing only intense roles.”

Happy with the response to his films, it is expected that Ajay Devgn will now be encouraged to try for different kind of roles.

Neil Nitin Mukesh and Mugdha Godse

Right from the time when he started his career as a director, Madhur Bhandarkar has been known for making some realistic, thought-provoking and hard-hitting film. Jail is no different.

Jail tells you the story of life in a prison and what do those, who live in them go through, both physically and mentally. It is a film, which narrates a story about a life, which most of us have not heard or seen before.

Jail, which is the story of Parag Dixit [Neil Nitin Mukesh], who in the beginning of the film probably has no major complaints from life, with a good job and a caring girlfriend (Mugdha Godse]. by his side. But, Parag’s life changes when after meeting with an accident, he finds himself in Jail. Once in Jail, Parag is confused with his life, which has become a hell. The only relief he has in Jail is his friend Nawab (Manoj Bajpai), who feels that Parag is innocent.

Apart from that, Parag only has hope that he will be a free man some day. Until and unless that happens, Parag has to live a life of a prisoner in Jail.

The film depicts the life and stories of prisoners in such a beautiful way that you feel hooked to the film and cannot move from your seat. The story of Parag itself is told in such an interesting way that you get hooked on.

The film also enlightens you about the Indian legal system and the psychology of prisoners. Apart from a part that looks repetitive, other twists and turns like the prisoners escaping from van and Neil getting thrown in a dark cell have been filmed in a great manner.

The work done behind the camera in form of story, screenplay, dialogues, cinematograph and set designing is quite good. Though, there is no scope of music in the film, whatever little music the film has, fits in the film beautifully.

The way Neil Nitin Mukesh has managed to show the sorrow and helplessness of Parag, shows he can act. Manoj Bajbai is another actor, who needs to be applauded for his performance in the film. The two have been supported well by Mugdha Godse, Aarya Babbar, Chetan Pandit,. Rahul Singh and Joe D’Souza.

But on an overall basis, Jail is a Madhur Bhandarkar film. He has once again proved with Jail that when it comes to making realistic and entertaining films, no one can match his skills.

Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor

Movie Review: Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani

Whereas every good director has the capability of making great movies, there are only a few directors, who can make all kinds of films, whether it’s a comedy, a romantic film, a serious drama or an action film with the same perfection. With Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, Raj Kumar Santoshi has once again proved that he is one such director.

The great aspect of this film is the perfect mixture of romance and comedy, which has been depicted on the screen with great perfection. Especially the way romance has been depicted in the film, makes you feel like falling in love all over again.

This story starts with Prem (Ranbir Kapoor), who runs a Happy Club and believes being happy and keeping others happy. In an attempt to help a close friend, Prem by mistake kidnaps Jenny [Katrina Kaif].  Though Jenny is initially not happy with what Prem has done, she gradually starts understanding him. Whereas, Jenny treats him as a good friend, Prem falls in love with her. But, before he can say anything, he comes to know that Jenny has been adopted by her parents, who want to marry her off to someone she doesn’t like. Prem, on being told by Jenny that she loves another boy Upen Patel , helps both of them to unite since, Upen’s father is also against his son’s marriage with Jenny. 

The first hour of the film is simply great. Though the second hour is also equally good, there are certain parts in the second hour like the kidnapping scene, which takes place so suddenly that they look slightly out of sorts. The final portion of the film looks more like a love triangle.

With Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, Raj Kumar Santoshi has come up with a film that the youth would relate to and love. Apart from a great story and a great script, Raj Kimar’s Santoshi’s direction is worth praising.

The film’s music is foot-tapping and goes well with the film.

The performances by both Ranbir and Katrina are par excellence. The two have been supported well by Darshan Jariwala, Smita Jaykar, Upen Patel, Namdeo, Zakir Hussain and Navneet Nishan.

On a whole, good story, good acting, good music, good direction and the fact that it’s a film for the youth, should ensure that Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani does well at the Box office.

Putting an end to speculations of a rift with his father Raj Babbar, Prateek Babbar is campaigning for him. 

After loosing his mother at a very early age, Raj Babbar and late Smita Patil’s son Prateek was brought up by his grand parents, his mother’s parents to be precise.

Moreover, though you may think that since Prateek lost his mother when he was very small, he would have got that extra support from his father, the truth is that unlike his other children, Raj Babbar never helped Prateek enter Bollywood. Prateek entered the Hindi Film Industry through Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, a film produced by Aamir Khan, which had nothing to do with his father.

Since Raj Babbar did not help Prateek get into Bollywood, there have been rumors that not all is well between father and son.

But, now as Raj Babbar get ready to contest an election from Firozabad, he got an unexpected support, when setting aside all speculations of a rift between them, Prateek reached the constituency to campaign for his father.

But, even as Prateek campaigns for his father, the siblings of late Smita Patil are not too happy with the idea of Prateek helping his father.

Not saying anything directly against Raj Babbar, who hasn’t been in good terms with their family for a long time, Smita Patil’s sister said that she is not  happy to see Prateek campaign for his father because he can’t even speak proper Hindi.

Prateek by being with his father at this important point of time, has tried to send a clear message that he has no rift with his father. But, since Smita Patil’s family is not too happy about it, can this relation last for a very long time, is yet to be seen.

Katrina Kaif and Aishwarya Rai

How can anyone refuse to wish Aishwarya Rai a Happy Birthday? Its about love and loyalty to Salman Khan. So Katrina Kaif has chosen later two and refused to wish Salman’s ex-girlfriend, Aishwarya Rai on her birthday.

Katrina was in the process of giving television interviews with co-star Ranbir Kapoor for their film, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani. They were doing the interview rounds at Mehboob Studios. A reporter requested Ranbir to wish Aishwarya on her birthday. Ranbir had no problem in doing so. Now same request was made to Katrina Kaif too. She must have learnt her diplomatic lessons well. She informed the reporter that since Ranbir had already wished Aishwarya on her birthday, she didn’t feel the need to do so.

But diplomatic lessons apart, Katrina too is human. She showed a remarkable control over her emotions but later on stormed out of the studio floor. She took refuse in her vanity van and took forty five long minutes to cool down.

The Bollywood stars from the Hindi Film Industry are no less than their Hollywood counterparts. In fact, if you look at it closely, given the way our Bollywood stars are loved by their fans across the world, it sometimes make you feel that the Bollywood stars are much bigger than those in Hollywood.

There have been numerous occasions when fans have expressed their love for the Bollywood stars in strange ways.

As Shahrukh Khan celebrates his birthday on 2^nd November, he must have been reminded of many such fans, who express their love for him in such different ways.

But, one fan of his, whom Shahrukh may not be able to forget so easily is this lady from Australia, who sends a unique gift to Shahrukh each year on his birthday.

Believe it or not, the Australian lady buys a piece of land on the moon each year and gifts it to Shahrukh Khan on his birthday. While confirming the news, Shahrukh said that he gets these certificates from the Lunar Republic Society, which actually confirms that he owns a piece of land on the moon, which has been booked in his name by the concerned lady. Shahrukh added, “I am really blessed to get the love of so many fans around the world.”

No, it is not as if the lady is a total stranger to Shahrukh and contacts him just once a year on his birthday. Shahrukh says that the lady is in constant touch with him and sends the most colorful E-Mails the Bollywood star has ever seen.

There are reports of Shahrukh Khan planning his retirement and thinking of settling down at a quite place. Now, since water has been found on the moon, he can use the land he owns on the moon for good purpose.

Ajay Devgan and Salman Khan in London Dreams

Though everyone wants success, it is always not a great thing to have in one’s life. Even though, you may be best friends, but when you succeed and get ahead of your friends, the other person tends to get the feeling of insecurity, hatred and jealousy against you quite naturally. This is precisely what London Dreams tends to convey.

This film is completely different from Vipul Shah’s earlier films like Aankhen, Waqt, Namastey London and Singh Is Kinng.  It has been made at a very large scale and shows relations in a real and intense manner.

London Dreams is a story of two friends, Arjun (Ajay Devgn), who wants to fulfill his grandfather’s dream by a performer on stage and Mannu (Salman Khan), who has no big goal in life and is content with being a child at heart.

Whereas Arjun forms a band in London with Zoheb [Rannvijay Singh], Wasim [Aditya Roy Kapur] and Priya [Asin), Mannu takes to playing in wedding bands.

The life of both Arjun and Mannu changes when at the request of Arjun, Mannu comes to London and joins Arjun’s musical band. He is not only  an instant hit with other members of the band and those who listen to band’s music, but even gets close to Priya.

But, little does Mannu know that as his status grows within the band and its fans, Arjun becomes jealous of his friend and plans evil against him.

The story has been told in a beautiful manner, which time and again moves into flashback, when both Arjun and Mannu are kids and then back to times when they are young. The writer is also able to show the difference between two characters of Arjun, who is a complete introvert and an extrovert Mannu in the most appropriate manner. Though, there is nothing wrong with the first half of the film, which is a treat to the eye with some fabulous sets and locations, the story only picks momentum in the second half when you as a audience can’t leave your seat while you get to see Arjun planning against Mannu.

The film has certain drawbacks too. Scenes like Salman not being able to find out that Ajay is conspiring against him, look quite unnatural and stupid. Certain other scenes like Ajay’s outburst after a concert is also not convincing. Moreover Ajay’s success as a rock star in London without any help is also difficult to believe.

The film’s music is probably the biggest drawback for a movie that revolves round a music band. The last song of the film and a few scenes thereafter seem to unnecessarily increase the length of the film.

The performance of all three lead actors including Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn and Asin is excellent. Though, they are supported by a team of actors, no one except the three of them have a good enough role worth talking about.

London Dreams is a sensitive subject, which has been handled by director Vipul Shah well enough for you to visit the cinema hall and watch it.

Amitabh Bachchan In Aladdin

Movie: Aladdin

Starring: Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Ritesh Deshmukh and Jacqueline Fernandez

Alladin is one of those movies that look promising in the beginning but as the film progresses, you feel disappointed by what you see on the screen. The fantasy, which promised to excite the young and the old alike failed to impress even those small kids, who otherwise love such fantasies.

This film is a story of Aladin Chatterjee [Riteish Deshmukh], an orphan, whose life changes when he is given a lamp by Jasmine [Jacqueline Fernandez], which lets loose a Genius [Amitabh Bachchan].

The Genius is desperate to grant three wishes to end his contract with the magic lamp. The Genius initially turns Alladin’s world upside down, until the ringmaster (Sanjay Dutt), who wants to kill Aladin appears on the scene.

Though, there are some interesting moments from time to time, the film becomes slow and boring as it moves ahead.

Whereas certain amount of imagination is always welcomed in a fantasy, Alladin is far too absurd for any logical person to understand. Certain portions of the film are so senseless that you just fail to understand them at all.  It is actually the screenplay of Sujoy Ghosh and not the story, which is so loose that it lets the film down.

Even the other aspects of the film are not anything worth talking about. The first part of the film has too many songs, which again makes the film slow. And, talking of songs, the music of the film is also fails to deliver.

But the worst part is that Amitabh Bachchan in the role of Genius fails to leave any impact on the audiences. If that was not enough, Sanjay Dutt, Jacqueline Fernandez, Ratna Pathak Shah, Victor Banerjee and Mita Vashisht also fail to leave any impression.

The only good thing about Alldin is Ritsh Deshmukh, whose natural acting leaves a great impact on the audiences.

Overall, if you give Alladin a miss, you won’t miss much.

Ranbir Kapoor

Ranbir Kapoor is using his stardom for a social cause.

Despite his first major release at the box office, Saawariya, failing to impress the audiences, Ranbir Kapoor has become one of the most talked about star in Bollywood. And, though he has had only three releases so far, Ranbir Kapoor is one of the most promising and sought after star in Bollywood with many big producers like Karan Johar and Yash Chopra signing films with him.

Ranbir Kapoor is now trying to payback for his stardom by contributing his bit to the social causes.

While shooting in Bhopal for his film Rajneeti, Ranbir appealed to the people against polluting the environment and spread the message of using a cycle for commuting.

Ranbir used cycle for a short distance along with some other men while taking part in an event organized by Green Planet Bicycle Riders Association to spread awareness about environmental protection and global warming among people.

The association said that through Ranbir, they want to spread the message that people should use pollution free vehicles at least when they have to travel short distances.

Speaking at the occasion, Ranbir Kapoor said, “In times when our planet is going through a crises and petroleum and other fuel products have become a cause of pollution and global warming, we need to do whatever we can to protect the planet, the greenery and our own health. I believe cycle is a great mode of transportation that needs to be encouraged in times such as these. It helps to saves both the planet and the health.”

Director of Rajneeti, Prakash Jha couldn’t agree with Ranbir more as he too joined the campaign to cycle along with Ranbir.

Hopefully the use of a star like Rabhir and his stardom for a social cause will help spread the message more easily and people will start using cycle at least for short distance travel.

Shilpa Shetty and Shamita Shetty

Shilpa Shetty wants Shamita out of the Big Boss house and is trying for it.

Whereas friends and family members of all other participants taking part in the reality game show Big Boss 3 are hoping and praying for their dear ones to win that one crore prize money, Shilpa Shetty wants her sister Shamita to be evicted from the Big Boss house.

No, it is not as if Shilpa does not love her sister or does not wish good for her. After all, in normal circumstances, had Shamita won the show, there wouldn’t have been a happier soul than Shilpa as it would have meant a second win for the family after Shilpa won the international celebrity show Big Brother.

But, Shilpa feels her little sister has more important things to do outside the Big Boss house than being in it. As a sweet elder sister, Shilpa wants Shamita to be a part of the special day when she ties the knot.

Shilpa, who got engaged just a couple of days back without her sister’s presence at the ceremony, does not want the same to happen on the day of her marriage. But, whereas Shilpa is getting ready to tie the knot in the end of November, Big Boss 3 is to be on air till December.

If sources are to be believed, Shilpa, who enjoys a quite a good relation with the producers of the show and hosted the previous edition of the show, is in consultation with the producers to get Shamita evicted from the Big Boss house sometimes before her wedding date.

You need to recall here that Shamita until now is not aware of her sister’s engagement as it took place most suddenly due to an auspicious date (Mahurat). In fact, reports suggest that Shilpa was not willing to get engaged without the presence of her sister but had no choice.

Since, Shilpa is keen to have her sister alongside her on her special day, Big Boss now proposes to break the news of her sister’s engagement to Shamita and give her the option of quitting the show to attend the marriage.

It is expected that Shamita will do what her sister wants and will come out of the House voluntarily before the all-important wedding.
