There are so many blog sites existing on the internet and still counting. Blogs about health, science, technology, and many other topics are proliferating over the web. Name it and you will be amazed to see how many blog sites are there. This only shows that many people are really interested in blogging. Whatever their reasons may be, one thing is for sure: blogosphere is definitely here to stay.

But what are exactly the reasons behind these blogs? Why do many people blog?

1. Freedom of expression. People write blogs for them to express themselves. Sometimes, you may have something to say on a certain current event but you don’t know how to say it verbally, then the best way for you to express your opinion is through a blog post. Never mind what other people might say. At least you were able to present your point of views in a dignified manner and you’re responsible with it.

2. Social networking. Blogging is one way to meet other people around the world through the cyberspace. You may share your ideas with them on certain issues and ask them to give their opinions too and even let them share significant events in their lives. You may get in touch to people that you share something in common through your blogs.

3. Self-promotion. Without a doubt, blogging is another way of promoting yourself. Through the blogs you post, you can present yourself in such a way that will highlight your skills to entice potential employers. It’s a make or break for you depending on how you present your blogs. As you can see, many blogger are exerting efforts to give ideas in a scholarly manner.

4.Marketing. Most companies post blogs to promote their products and advertise their company. Through their blogs, they invite readers to give their reviews of their products thus enabling them to determine what to focus and the areas that need improvement. They also post a blog in launching a new product line.

5.Record purposes. Some people are into blogging to have a record of their personal transactions. This is their way of keeping their calendar activities updated. Through this, they can easily remember what they have done previously and what must be done for the better in the future.

6. Mode of communication. Sometimes people write blogs to inform their family and friends abroad of the latest happenings in their lives. This is their way of letting them know and feel that they are special to them. No matter what happens, they keep in touch with them through their blogs.

7. Create awareness. Most of the time, many individuals post a blog to provide information on something that needs public attention for the general welfare. Issues affecting everybody are basically the content of their blogs as this is their way of trying to make a difference in the society. Such blogs truly live to its purpose of bringing together people and connecting with them.

Bloggers have different reasons and purposes for their posts. Readers have their reasons too in looking for a specific blog. In any case, the bottom line is both are mutually benefited. If you are the writer, you were able to convey what’s on your mind, satisfied with your output and rewarded for that. If you’re a reader, you will be entertained and at the same time informed on what you read.

Owning a business is exciting yet challenging at the same time. There are many things that you need to do before you succeed. No matter the kind of goods and services you offer, you’ll need to focus special attention on the following key areas: your business reputation, customer satisfaction, employee satisfaction and the existing market trends. These keys are essential yet easy to apply for any businessman who wants to set his business on a growing trend.

Below is a brief discussion on how to set your business on the right development path.

Business Reputation

The key to business growth and development lies with the existing business reputation. A tarnished reputation not only endangers your business success and respect, but also ruins your potential business opportunities. For this reason, you must always ensure that your business harbors a positive image within the society. If you cultivate an image of being exploitative, arrogant and malicious, chances are that you’re going to be out of business within the short run. All the same, there are some incidences of bad publicity which are hard to avoid. To counter such you’ll require setting up a public relations department. A good PR department should be able to counter any rumor or negative public image in an attempt to restore your corporate image.

Customer Satisfaction

Customer satisfaction is the key to business growth and development. Basically, this involves cultivating a healthy customer to business relationship. It is all about earning trust from the current and prospective customers. It is all about meeting your customer’s expectation. Customer satisfaction is all about giving quality and nothing short of that. It is always important to note that your actions matter more than words. So if you want your customers to feel more satisfied, learn to keep your promises and act upon your words. Basically in order to build customer loyalty you need to develop good listening skills, make polite suggestions, make achievable promises and set up a good customer support team. This will not only boost your current sales but also give you a stable future.

Employee Satisfaction

Your employees are the next most important pillar in business development. A well-motivated workforce will ultimately deliver good quality work. So it is very important to ensure that your employees are satisfied working for you. Introduce employee incentive programs so as to boost their motivation. Studies show that there is some indirect connection between incentives and the quality of services delivered by the employees. For this reason you’ll require coming up with ways to thank your employees for being part of the team. Some of the best employee incentive ideas include.

Sending a thank you note.

Trips.

Gifts.

Coupons

Marketing

An effective marketing strategy is very fundamental to business success. Basically, you should always aim at staying ahead of your competitors, attracting new customers and retaining the old ones. In order to achieve this you’ll require doing plenty of market researches so as to know exactly what your customers require and what your competitors are up to. You’ll need to develop good marketing techniques so as to reap the maximum benefits. It goes without saying that you’ll require applying effective sales techniques. Here are a few important sales tips that you can adopt:

Know your customers. In order to know your customers ask yourself the following questions: what is their age bracket? What are their characteristics? What are your competitors up to?

Use unique promotional methods. One effective to accomplish this one is by looking at what your competitors are using. If in case there is a loop hole in their promotional methods, capitalize on it. At the same time, learn to uphold a healthy competition.

Embrace Internet Marketing. The benefits of internet marketing are numerous. Put your business on popular social networking websites. This will not only boost your popularity but also enable you to learn your customer’s preferences. Internet marketing is the next big thing; you’d better not lose out on this one.

With these business success tips, hope that you’ll eventually craft your growth and development path. You basically require the right knowledge, skill, talent and the right attitude to set your business above the rest, from here onwards there is no turning back for you!

Back in May, reports began to surface speculating that Facebook was in talks with Face.com to possibly purchase the company behind the domain. While neither side confirmed the discussions, apparently all the rumors were true because the deal is finally official. On its company blog, Face.com confirmed that the acquisition was legit, while various other sources report that Facebook made the purchase for anywhere from $50 to $100 million.

The details are still being gathered, but that hasn’t stopped observers from speculating what the social giant has in store for its new property.

Possible Face Recognition Technology for Facebook

Based out of Tel Aviv, Israel, Face.com is a startup that is best known for its facial recognition software. The firm offers a collection of APIs that allow third-party developers to tap into that technology and incorporate it into their own applications. Face.com already has two Facebook apps. The first one is Photo Finder, an application that provides a simple way for users to find untagged photos. The other one is Photo Tagger, an application that lets users automatically tag a large number of Facebook photos. All signs point to this technology being used in the Facebook experience moving forward.

At this time, no one is sure how Facebook will integrate Face.com, its team, and technology into the platform. But seeing how the Tel Aviv-based startup already has apps like Photo Finder and Photo Tagger in its portfolio, using it to improve on the platform’s tagging capabilities may be a likely bet. Many users have complained about how tagging suggestions are not as fluent on Facebook mobile as they are on the desktop version of the site. The integration of Face.com technology might possibly create an experience that makes it easier for users on mobile devices to tag photos. Facebook’s recent launch of the standalone photo app Camera gives this theory even more credibility.

In the initial announcement on the company’s blog, Face.com thanked its supporters, employees, developer community, family, and everyone else who helped along the way. The firm also said that it looks forward to working directly with the Facebook team to build new consumer-friendly products. And while Face.com didn’t say exactly what it will be doing, it did mention how its technology is currently being used to deliver an optimal photo experience for users of the social network, and also hinted that working on the site’s mobile platform could indeed be a part of the plan.

Facebook Shopping Spree

It seems as if Facebook has been on a acquisition spree as of late. The company purchased photo sharing service Instagram for $1 billion back in April, and shortly thereafter, acquired Glancee, a social discovery tool, for an undisclosed sum. Many observers will be waiting with bated breath to see how these acquisitions and others are incorporated into the existing Facebook experience.

First launched back in 2004, Digg was the very first social news site and also the true pioneer of the social bookmarking phenomenon. The site was extremely popular, but as they say, nothing lasts forever. In early July, the once prominent service was sold and divvied up in three parts: Betaworks got the website and technological assets, the staff went to SocialCode, a Washington Post property, and several patents went to business-focused social networking site LinkedIn.

So what happened? Why did Digg, a site that appeared to have so much going for it, just suddenly crumble? Well, this thing was a long time coming, and the reason it ended up floundering in the social space can be attributed to several factors.

Superior Competition

Competition tends to play a part in most business failures, and that appears to be the case here as well. Digg had its fair share of competitors, but most would probably credit Reddit for taking the spotlight away. According to data from comScore, Reddit surpassed Digg in traffic for the very first time in December of 2011. From there, it never looked back. But this hasn’t been a case of just barely edging out the competition. It’s been more like a continuous landslide victory. comScore’s findings reveal that Reddit has been putting a beat down on the opposition ever since in terms of unique visits and page views. With many of its loyal users jumping off the ship, it seems Digg lost the will to fight.

No Business Model

The one reason social networking will likely forever be a fragile industry is because many of its biggest players lack a viable business model. It’s been true with Facebook, Twitter, and Digg especially. Money isn’t everything, but in the business world, funding is vital to an organization’s very existence. When a company cannot demonstrate the ability to make money, the venture capitalists that are providing the financial support start to see them as a risky investment. Digg lost its supporters and was forced to go to the seller’s market. The other side to the lack of a business model is limited value. According to reports, the service once valued at $200 million sold for a measly $500,000.

Digg Killed Digg

We have seen some interesting accusations regarding who is responsible for putting Digg out of its misery, but in reality, there is no one to blame but Digg itself. The service fumbled on numerous occasions and with each mishap, further alienated its audience. It is another case of bad decisions and poor leadership, the two ingredients that have helped crumble the mightiest of corporations. Hopefully for Reddit, StumbleUpon, and other sites in this segment of the social space, Digg’s demise will serve as the blueprint of what not to do.
