These standards are a guide for educators to use to enhance their teaching. I wish I had some more professional pictures to use. I would love to have pictures of me in the classroom interacting with the students and would probably include a professional headshot of me as well. But I did the best with what I had. I think I did well with the text too, considering I don't yet have an actual class. I was very grateful for the template provided in Word. It looks clean-cut and professional.

Click here to go to my website where you will find the link to the brochure.

My Simple Grade Book

I have added a simple grade book to my website. My name is Andrea Taylor and I am using this blog for my Education 305 class called Technology in the Classroom.

I believe that today's technology adds significantly to the learning community in allowing for a greater degree of exchange between teachers, students, and parents. For example, through blogging, I would be able to post updates on what is happening in the classroom that can then be viewed by the parents at any time and from any computer, keeping them involved in what is happening with their child at school. In addition, the students can also participate in discussions outside of class, which not only extends the learning community outside of the classroom but also allows for those who may be more shy about participating actively in class to do so using the platform of a blog where they feel less vulnerable.

There are certainly other ways in which technology enriches the learning process, specifically in allowing for more creativity to be used for instruction and learning. I may use videos to enhance my lessons, for example, which could even be made by myself. These can be shown in the classroom but can also be posted online. The students can thus enhance their learning outside of class through the internet and the videos available there. In addition, I may create my own website that allows for an abundance of resources available to both students and parents.

I am very excited to be able to draw from the strengths of today's technology and use them as a teacher to enhance my lessons and create a more positive learning community.
