There are a great variety of ways to make money on the internet. Sometimes far too much than is really necessary.

A serious beginner needs to wade through an incredible amount of information before he/she knows what works and what doesn’t.

Then again, everyone has a different threshold and level of knowledge. How far do you want to go, in order to make money online? What do you know about the different ways of doing so? What have you personally tried?

That’s also why its fun and educational to learn from people with different experiences and backgrounds. So instead of just hearing from me on this topic, I’ll open this up to everyone who reads Dosh Dosh by doing a group meme or survey

Survey Topic: What’s the Best Way to Make Money Online?

If someone came up to you and said that they wanted to know the best way to make money on the internet. What would you tell him or her? Let’s imagine that the individual in question is eager and willing to learn what is needed for real results.

By best, I mean the method that brings the greatest amount of potential income, while being practical, cost-effective and do-able. I know a great deal depends on the individual skill levels and interest, so it can be quite difficult to provide a fix-all solution that is suitable for everyone.

I would suggest focusing on what you personally think, feel or know is the best way to earn money online. Elaborate a little on the general steps you think someone should take to successfully utilize the method you’ve suggested. Imagine you’re talking to a friend who trusts your opinion and experiences.

Reasons Why I’m Doing This Group Survey

There are several reasons why I am doing this exercise. First of all, I am curious about what you all think about the topic matter. Not everyone reading Dosh Dosh is a blogger and many are entrepreneurs, small business owners and marketers, so the response should be interesting and useful.

Secondly, this is a good way to give some exposure for everyone. Many of you have been leaving comments regularly, visiting the site daily or promoting it on social media websites. Some have also been subscribed to Dosh Dosh for a long time too. I really do appreciate all the support.

This is a way of saying thanks, by sending you some traffic and visitors. Dosh Dosh gets a decent number of daily visitors and over time, that could translate into a fair amount of traffic and free publicity for you.

To participate in this group discussion, you simply need to address the survey topic by either leaving a comment or writing a blog post.

Everyone who leaves a comment will have their opinion listed within this or a new article itself, with a link to your website (if you have one). If you write a new blog post referencing this article, you’ll get a link to your blog post as well.

I don’t really like deleting external links left by readers, especially when they point to to shady or spam sites so I’m going to institute a no-links policy for comments across the board. Use Link Units near your navigation. Link Units tend to be most profitable if they are clicked on by users searching for something particular. Therefore, placing the Link Unit near your navigation is the prime place users look to find what they are looking for on your site.

One Google Adsense tip is to follow the Google Adsense TOS (Terms of Service). For example, you may use Google Adsense on as many web pages as you want throughout your website but remember to follow the Google Adsense rules that state you can have a maximum of three ad units and three link units per page.

When deciding on a topic to build your website around, choose a topic that is more of a niche topic instead of a general topic. Google Adsense works best when the website topic focuses on a specific niche because the targeted ads become more closely related to the topic. When a website is very broad you will notice the Google Adsense ads are often not relevant to the content of the page and this reduces the likelihood of users clicking on the ads. With a targeted site you get better related ads and therefore the CTR will be much better.

1. For short articles, CTR is best when ads are placed just above the content

2. For long articles, CTR improves if ads are placed somewhere in middle of the content - visitors read the long content and then they are looking for more resources.

3. Use Text Ads instead of Image Ads as users get more options. If you still want to display image ads, consider ad formats that support image ads - Choose either the 300×250 medium rectangle or the 160×600 wide skyscraper - or both, if you display multiple ad units on a page.

4. Google Ads without background color and borders always perform better. Make the border color and background color same as your page background color.

5. Always put ads above the main fold. Make sure that the ad unit with the highest clickthrough rate is the first instance of the ad code that appears in the HTML. Since the first ad unit is always filled before the rest, you want to make sure that ad unit is located in the best placement on your page.

6. Try setting the ad link URL color to a lighter shade. If your text is black, you may make the adlink as light gray.

7. Go Wide - The large rectangle is the best paying adsense format (336×280) - The Google Adsense Publisher team also feels that the best formats are the wider ones - the ad formats that contain the widest individual ads. a. Strictly follow the rules mentioned in Adsense policies. You will always earn more revenue from Adsense by playing it clean.

b. Never modify the Google Adsense HTML code. If have trouble embedding AdSense code in your WordPress or Blogger template, take help of the AdSense support forums or send an email to your AdSense account manager.

c. Never ask your friends or visitors to click on your Google ads. Google takes Click fraud very seriously . Do not include incentives of any kind on your site for users to click on your ads. Don't label Google ads with text other than "sponsored links" or "advertisements.".

Websites that rank higher in a Google search (SERPS) will get a
better per-click payout than websites which rank lower for the
same search term.

I don’t know if that’s because Google just wants to reward sites who meet
their criteria for high search listings or because they assume that sites that
rank higher are going to have better users for advertisers than lower-ranked
sites.

Most likely though, is that it’s all about content relevance. A top-
ranking website is considered more relevant than a lower-ranking one. So
keep an eye on your Google Search Ranking for your targeted search terms
and work continuously to optimize your website. The upshot is that when

experience I can tell you that it's like swapping a hundred-dollar bill for a
ten-dollar one.

For almost one year I settled for just a tenth of what I could have been
making — just because I didn't bother to control the looks and placement of
my AdSense ads.

The various ad formats, colors and their placement on the web page can be
done in thousands of combinations. You can literally spend hours every day
experimenting with every possible combination. But you don't want to, do
you?

Let me give you a few 'ground rules' that have sky-rocketed the CTR's on my
top-grossing pages:

Don't "look" like an ad

People don't visit your website for ads. They want good content.

If you make the ads stick out with eye-popping colors, images or borders,
that makes them easy to recognize as ads — and people work extra hard to
avoid them.

The same goes for ads that are tucked away in the top, bottom or some
other far corner of the page. So easy to ignore!

If you want people to click, make the ads look like an integral part of your
content.

Today's visitors are blind to banners, mad at pop-ups, weary of ads and
skeptical of contests and giveaways. So how do you win their confidence?
Simple. Don't make your ads look like ads!

Go for text ads instead of image ads

A text ad offers many advantages over image ads:

A. With the right formatting, a text ad 'blends in' with your site content. An
image ad will not give you the same freedom with its
appearance, as the only thing you can play with is the size
and positioning.

B. You can squeeze more text ads into the space that a
conventional banner takes. People love to have more
choices!

C. Properly formatted text ads don't look like clutter. Banners
do!

D. People hate banners and avoid them at sight. Many tests
confirm that people are much more receptive to text ads
related with your content.

The Best Performing Ad Size

So you’ll want to use text ads and you’ll want them to look like anything but
an ad. But you’ll also want them to be a particular size. Which size is that?

336 x 280 – the Large Rectangle.

Why should you choose the 336 x 280 ad block? Simple. It gets the most
clicks! My studies have shown that this format looks most like real content
added to a page. I’ve dabbled with every size Google offers and this is the
size that consistently has the best results. Other people have told me the
exact same thing. That’s all I need to know!

Second best is the 300 x 250 – The Medium Rectangle.

This ad block size is really useful when you went to have two sets of ads side
by side. They fit on most web pages just perfectly!

I would also recommend using the 'wide skyscraper', text-only ads on the
right hand edge of the screen — in conjunction with the 3-way matching I
talk about in chapter 4.

If you think about it, nearly all PC users are right handed (even left-handed
people like me control their mouse with their right hand because it's how we
were 'brought up' to use a mouse.) By placing the ads on the right hand
edge it's psychologically 'less distance' between your right hand and the
screen.

This 'closeness' in my opinion makes the user feel more comfortable and
therefore more likely to click through to a link. They feel more in control of
their visit experience.

Stay away from the 468 x 60 ad block!

One of the first things people do when they sign up for AdSense is to grab a
468 x 60 ad block.

Big mistake.

I have a theory about why they do this. It’s the same theory that explains
why the 468 x 60 block does not entice clicks.

Most site owners have the mindset that when they put Google ads on their
site, they must place the code that conforms most to traditional web
advertising. And that would be...? Yup, the 468 x 60, the ubiquitous banner
format that we have all come to know and love and... IGNORE.

Everyone is familiar with the 468 x 60. And that’s exactly why the click-
through rate on this size is very low, even among advertisers who use
images on their banners.

The 468 x 60 blocks screams, "Hey! I am an advertisement! Whatever you
do, DON'T click me. In fact, you should run from me as fast as you can!"

In all but a few special cases, I have found the 468 x 60 ad block to be
completely ineffective, and recommend ignoring it the same way your visitors
do.

Using Colors To Increase Your Clicks

once a fashion show where each model wore the exact same black
outfit for the entire duration of the show. Boring? Hardly! The show was
intended to showcase platinum jewelry, and the outfits were designed to
enhance the jewelry — instead of distracting the audience.

You don’t have to make all the pages on your website identical (or black).
But you do want to make sure that the look of your page draws attention to
the ads — and makes them appear as attractive and as valuable as platinum
jewelry.

Many websites have strong graphic elements that catch the eye —
usually at the expense of the AdSense units.

If you're using AdSense, be judicious in the selection of fonts, font size,
colors, images, tables and other visual aspects of your website.

Draw subtle attention to your AdSense units. Make them the stars of
your show!

Make the border go!

You can more than DOUBLE your click-through's with this one simple
tweak!

Even before the Internet, ads in newspapers and magazines were marked off
with a thick, heavy border. No wonder borders and boxes have come to
symbolize advertising messages.

Ads with prominent borders make your pages look cluttered. They distract
the eye from the ad text, while marking off the ad blocks from the rest of the
content.

Google provides an extensive color palette in your administrative area (see
above). Use it to tweak the look of your ads to suit your web page.

With just one simple click, you can match the color of your ad's border with
the background color of your web page. When the border blends with the
background, it frees up loads of space. The page looks instantly neater and
the ads look more inviting.

Make sure you also pick a matching background color for the ad. The ad's
background must match the page background on which the ad will appear.
If the ad appears in a table, match the table background with the ad
background. The key is to blend the background and border color with the
page, so that the text looks like an integral part of your web content.

Text is Design too!

That's right: the text size, font, color and the color of your ads must match
the other text elements. If the text color of the ads is the same as the text in
the body of your page, it’ll help the ads blend into the site and make the
reader feel that you’ve endorsed them.

And if the size of the font in the ads is the as the size of the main body of the
content, it will have the same effect: they’ll look like part of your site and not
something brought in by Google.

That’s the sort of blending that translates into clicks.

You can see this on my blog. I’m running a test where I’ve changed the title
color of the ads to match the color of the titles on the text. I’ve also matched
the text color of the ads to the color of the site text and the background of
the ads to the background of the page. (I could also change the size of the
font and see what that does to my CTR.)

This 3-way matching (titles, text and background) can generate excellent
click-through rates.

Too many text styles add clutter and can confuse your visitors. Instead, try
every legitimate way to make the ads look like a part of your web content.

In other words use the colors to make sure that your ads don't look like
ads!

Blue Is Best

So you want to get rid of the border. You want to get your ads the same
color as the text on the rest of your page and the background matching the
background color of your Web page.

But what about the link itself, the line the user is actually going to click?
What color should that be?

That’s an easy one: blue.

I used to say that all the text in the ad should match the text on your page,
including the link. After seeing an article about the benefits of keeping the
links blue — and testing extensively — I don’t say that any more.

The logic is that users have come to expect links on websites to be blue. Just
as they expect stop signs to be red and warning signs to be yellow, so they
expect their links to blue.

That means people are more likely to click on a blue link than a link
in any other color.

The line in your AdSense code that sets the color of your link is the one that
says:

Google_color_link = “#color”;

“#color” is the hexadecimal number for the color you want to use. You
should make sure that number is #0000FF.

Keep your link blue and you can experience an increase in click-throughs as
high as 25 percent!

Deliberate Mismatching

When it comes to choosing colors, I recommend 3-way matching and using
blue for the links. But there is another strategy that you can use.

You can deliberately mismatch your ad colors and styles, provided you keep
it to the top of your page.

This distinction generates two powerful 'zones' and therefore two types of
experience for the visitor.

The first zone is always at the top of the first page, above the main site
banner. The titles and text colors match colors found in the banner graphic
heading. (Important — the URL links are hidden, so only certain text ads will
allow you to do this.)

The end result is that these ads, placed above the banner graphic look like
key control points for your site and are just more likely to be clicked. The
visitor feels that they are visiting the another major area of that site.

1. If you absolutely MUST use Java script drop down menus, image maps or image links, be sure to put text links somewhere on the page for the spiders to follow.

2. Content is king, so be sure to have good, well-written and unique content that will focus on your primary keyword or keyword phrase.

3. If content is king, then links are queen. Build a network of quality backlinks using your keyword phrase as the link. Remember, if there is no good, logical reason for that site to link to you, you don’t want the link.

4. Don’t be obsessed with PageRank. It is just one isty bitsy part of the ranking algorithm. A site with lower PR can actually outrank one with a higher PR.

5. Be sure you have a unique, keyword focused Title tag on every page of your site. And, if you MUST have the name of your company in it, put it at the end. Unless you are a major brand name that is a household name, your business name will probably get few searches.

6. Fresh content can help improve your rankings. Add new, useful content to your pages on a regular basis. Content freshness adds relevancy to your site in the eyes of the search engines.

7. Be sure links to your site and within your site use your keyword phrase. In other words, if your target is “blue widgets” then link to “blue widgets” instead of a “Click here” link.

8. Focus on search phrases, not single keywords, and put your location in your text (“our Palm Springs store” not “our store”) to help you get found in local searches.

9. Don’t design your web site without considering SEO. Make sure your web designer understands your expectations for organic SEO. Doing a retrofit on your shiny new Flash-based site after it is built won’t cut it. Spiders can crawl text, not Flash or images.

10. Use keywords and keyword phrases appropriately in text links, image ALT attributes and even your domain name.

11. Check for canonicalization issues - www and non-www domains. Decide which you want to use and 301 redirect the other to it. In other words, if http://www.domain.com is your preference, then http://domain.com should redirect to it.

12. Check the link to your home page throughout your site. Is index.html appended to your domain name? If so, you’re splitting your links. Outside links go to http://www.domain.com and internal links go to http://www.domain.com/index.html.

Ditch the index.html or default.php or whatever the page is and always link back to your domain.

13. Frames, Flash and AJAX all share a common problem - you can’t link to a single page. It’s either all or nothing. Don’t use Frames at all and use Flash and AJAX sparingly for best SEO results.

14. Your URL file extension doesn’t matter. You can use .html, .htm, .asp, .php, etc. and it won’t make a difference as far as your SEO is concerned.

15. Got a new web site you want spidered? Submitting through Google’s regular submission form can take weeks. The quickest way to get your site spidered is by getting a link to it through another quality site.

16. If your site content doesn’t change often, your site needs a blog because search spiders like fresh text. Blog at least three time a week with good, fresh content to feed those little crawlers.

17. When link building, think quality, not quantity. One single, good, authoritative link can do a lot more for you than a dozen poor quality links, which can actually hurt you.

18. Search engines want natural language content. Don’t try to stuff your text with keywords. It won’t work. Search engines look at how many times a term is in your content and if it is abnormally high, will count this against you rather than for you.

19. Not only should your links use keyword anchor text, but the text around the links should also be related to your keywords. In other words, surround the link with descriptive text.

20. If you are on a shared server, do a blacklist check to be sure you’re not on a proxy with a spammer or banned site. Their negative notoriety could affect your own rankings.

21. Be aware that by using services that block domain ownership information when you register a domain, Google might see you as a potential spammer.

22. When optimizing your blog posts, optimize your post title tag independently from your blog title.

23. The bottom line in SEO is Text, Links, Popularity and Reputation.

24. Make sure your site is easy to use. This can influence your link building ability and popularity and, thus, your ranking.

25. Give link love, Get link love. Don’t be stingy with linking out. That will encourage others to link to you.

26. Search engines like unique content that is also quality content. There can be a difference between unique content and quality content. Make sure your content is both.

27. If you absolutely MUST have your main page as a splash page that is all Flash or one big image, place text and navigation links below the fold.

28. Some of your most valuable links might not appear in web sites at all but be in the form of e-mail communications such as newletters and zines.

29. You get NOTHING from paid links except a few clicks unless the links are embedded in body text and NOT obvious sponsored links.

30. Links from .edu domains are given nice weight by the search engines. Run a search for possible non-profit .edu sites that are looking for sponsors.

31. Give them something to talk about. Linkbaiting is simply good content.

32. Give each page a focus on a single keyword phrase. Don’t try to optimize the page for several keywords at once.

33. SEO is useless if you have a weak or non-existent call to action. Make sure your call to action is clear and present.

34. SEO is not a one-shot process. The search landscape changes daily, so expect to work on your optimization daily.

35. Cater to influential bloggers and authority sites who might link to you, your images, videos, podcasts, etc. or ask to reprint your content.

Google currently offers four programs: AdSense for content, AdSense for search, adsense for domain and Premium AdSense.

AdSense for content
AdSense for content is the main AdSense program – contextually targeted ads are displayed on your webpage, and you get paid for every click. These ads are specifically targeted to the content of your webpage. Consequently, if you change the content of your page, the ads that are displayed would also change. AdSense allows you good control over what ads get served, since there might be some obvious problems if it didn’t. These include:

Blocking Ads – you choose

While the ad selection is automatic, you can block unwanted ads – such as those from your competitors. You just tell Google which companies to block from your sites.

Reviewing and filtering Ads – semi-automatic

Google has its own strict policies for ad content (no profanity, no racial discrimination, etc). These are filtered out automatically from your point of view. Additionally, you can choose to block additional content through custom filters. Don’t forget that Google also provides us Search boxes that we can put on our site. Do not put
them above the fold. But those in a less prominent place further down the page. Bottom of the
page or somewhere on the left side below the fold is perfect.
Do not expect much money from Search boxes, but anything that comes in extra counts!

Have your Ads above the fold

This is one of the most important tips to increase your CTR. The term “above the fold”, comes from
newspapers. Any news above the fold on the front page of a newspaper will be read more than
any other part of the newspaper. The same rule applies to AdSense too.
Here, “above the fold” means the top position of your screen that is visible without the user
having to scroll down. So if you place your ads “above the fold”, it will be visible to everyone, and
they won’t have to scroll down. Your Ads are therefore more likely to get clicked. Also, the area
above the fold loads before the rest of the page. So this is by far the best location for AdSense Ad
placement.

Try not to have any other links “above the fold”

This may not always be possible. But if you can, remove all links that are “above the fold”. The only

links displayed should be your AdSense Ads. By having any other link, you are giving your visitors
the option of clicking on them. This will decrease your CTR. If you do not have any other links,
your visitors will sub-consciously be forced to click on your AdSense Ads. This will shoot up your
CTR.

Do not neglect the bottom of your page!

If you have followed the above points, you will find that most people click on the ads above the
fold. But there will be some who will go down the page. And when they reach the end, they

get yourself banned. I have listed 12 things that you should NEVER even think of doing.

1.Never, I repeat, never click on your own Ads:

I think this is one of the biggest reasons why AdSense accounts get disabled.This seems obvious,

If you think by clicking on your own ads, you can fool Google, you are highly mistaken.Google
has got its own proprietary technology to find out if the publisher has clicked on his own ads.

clicks. So make sure you do not make this foolish mistake.

2.Never, I repeat, never tell others to click on your own Ads

I often see click-swapping on AdSense forums. It’s kind of you-click-on-my-ad-and-I-will-click-onyours.
Never ever do this.
If you want a strong AdSense business, stay away from trouble.Don’t ask even your friends,
relatives or employees to click on your ads.Do not provide any kind of an incentive to anyone for

3.Never, I repeat, never modify Google’s AdSense code

This is against Google’s policy. Just use the code as-is.Don’t play around with it at all.

This is a relatively new policy.When I started with AdSense, this rule did not exist.Moreover,what
Google actually wanted with this policy was never very clear.Nor did Google do a good job of
clearly defining what is allowed and what is not.

Even I had put some pretty images next to my Ads, and achieved excellent CTR. But here is a rule

moment removing images that were next to my ads.After
all, I love my AdSense account, too!
My suggestion: If you have images next to your AdSense ads, remove them immediately

5.Never, I repeat, never title your ads the wrong way.

You are not allowed to label your Ads with messages like“Click Here”,“Related Links”or anything
else that misleads people into thinking that it is not an Advertisement.
You are however allowed to mention “Advertisements”or “Sponsored Links”, because your ads are
actually Advertisements.And Google is OK with that. If you want, you may prefer not to put any
label at all.

6.Never, I repeat, never put AdSense on pages that do not have enough content.

Yeah, this is something that web-masters may not be aware of. But Google allows AdSense only
on pages with good content.
Therefore it is not advisable to put ads on Thank You pages, subscription pages etc.Make doubly
sure that you have Ads only on pages with good content.
This also means that you should not put your ads on sites with junk content.Any site that doesn’t
really add value to the visitor is considered to be a junk site

7.Never, I repeat, never put AdSense on sites that have got prohibitive content.

Make sure you do not have Ads on sites that have got anything to do with drugs, pornography,
hatred, gambling etc.
Again, this is self explanatory, but some people simply don’t understand!

8.Never, I repeat, never create multiple Google AdSense Accounts.

Google allows you to have only 1 personal account and 1 business account.Google links these
two accounts.Never try to fool Google by creating different accounts under different names.
As long as you do not get caught, it’s fine. But if Google traces these accounts as being used by
the same person, all your accounts are in danger of being suspended.

9.Never, I repeat, never enlist your site in any kind of auto-surf or traffic exchange

programs.
Again, this is against Google’s TOS. So stay clear of it.

10.Never, I repeat, never exceed the amount of ads you can display on a page.

Currently Google only allows 3 Ad blocks, 3 Link units and 3 referral buttons to be put on one
page. I personally feel Google has allowed more than what is required. So, I don’t know why you
would ever want more than this.

11.Never, I repeat, never reveal your AdSense Data

Google doesn’t allow public display of your CTR, Impressions,eCPM etc on forums, eBooks,
websites or any other publicly viewable media.
But Google doesn’t have any objection if you mention how much you earn from AdSense… just
don’t go into the details of your clicks, impressions, CTR, or eCPM.

12.Never, I repeat, never stay outdated!

Google’s policies are constantly changing. It will help if you know what changes are taking place
in the world of AdSense so that you can update your sites if required.
If you get banned by AdSense for whatever reason you cannot give the excuse that you were

You know, there is something really funny about niches.The way some niches work often defies
logic. Niches that you think would be high paying may prove to be total disasters.
And niches that seem to be hopeless might turn out to be real winners. It really has nothing to
do with competition. I always say that you can never be 100% sure about which niches would be
profitable and which won’t.
I have learned that if I go into 10 markets, there will be around 6 that will be winners. So if I want
300 profitable sites, I need to make around 500 sites.
If you ask me, I feel this is much easier than searching for “the best niches” that are out there. It is
just like throwing enough stuff onto the wall and see what sticks.
Once I understood this basic truth, I spent the next few months,making hundreds of mini sites. In

RSS could prove to be a powerful revenue source for AdSense publishers. It can certainly be a good way to inform users that you’ve got new content and bring them back in to view it.
I’m not sure about AdSense on mobile phones.

AdSense started allowing publishers to place one ad unit on mobile Web pages in September 2007. You can select the colors, specify the kind of code your mobile page uses (“wml (WAP 1.x)”, “xhtml (WAP 2.0)”, or “chtml”), and choose ad units with one or two text-link ads (although the double unit can only appear at the bottom of the page.)

It’s currently available in thirteen countries, including US, England, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Ireland, Russia, Netherlands, Australia, India, China, and Japan. It sounds like a good idea, but AdSense for mobile has its challenges. Phones have not shown themselves to be good ways to surf the Web. The screens are tiny, the downloads are slow and it’s very expensive. Most people are prepared to wait until they get home or to the office to look at a website, rather than do it on their mobiles. There are exceptions though. Surfing on phones is fairly popular outside America (especially in Japan). In the United States, it might be used for information that changes quickly such as sports news or finance. It's even rarer for a day to pass where I don't land on a site that has Adsense way over on the right side of the page, halfway hidden by the fold, probably making less money than that obnoxious flashing Click-Me-or-the-Monkey-Gets-It banner.

Just as you should optimize your pages for the search engines, you should optimize Adsense for your visitors. You don't want to trick your users into clicking on your ads (in order to ensure the continuation of the program, it's important that advertisers receive visitors that convert to sales), but you absolutely want to make sure your visitors notice the ads. The following five tips will help:

#1 Make sure there is enough keyword rich content (text) on your pages so Adsense can figure out what ads to display instead of showing Public Service Announcements. In particular, ensure you have used your keywords in your title and H1 tags.

#2 Blend the background and border to match the page's background. You don't want to trick visitors into clicking, but you don't want them deadened by banner blindness either.

#3 Put Adsense where people will notice the ads. This is a big one. Try above the fold and within the content. If you use CSS, a floating box works nicely. Definitely, don't stick the ads way over on the right side of the page or below the fold.
