For example, if there are 100 sites linking to your site, search engines see that as your site having some value. With the value and presence of your site on other sites you are seen as an authoritative site and your rankings begin to improve on search engines. Now, people think any old back link is good for your site. While this is true there is one important factor that people sometimes miss, having the anchor include your keyword. For example if you have a site about the Nintendo Wii and you are selling the actual product, you may want the anchor of your text link to read "cheap nintendo wii". With a lot of incoming links with that anchor, search engines think that your site is very relevant to those keywords and they begin to rank you higher and higher for that specific phrase as you continuously build more links. Finally, there are many different ways people build back links, such as directory submissions, blog commenting, buying direct links, and more. When building back links be very careful because too many links too fast will also be seen as harmful to your site because of search engines thinking you are spamming the internet with your website. To avoid this, it is recommended to join some sort of link exchange network where systems build links for you. The systems are supposed to take into account the fact that the speed of link building is very important in link development.

The Best Way to Make Money Online: Participate in Dosh Dosh’s Group Survey

Let’s try something different. Perhaps a collective effort of some sort. I want to know what you think is the best way to make money online. What really works well to bring in a substantial amount of income (at least in your own experience).

There are a great variety of ways to make money on the internet. Sometimes far too much than is really necessary.

A serious beginner needs to wade through an incredible amount of information before he/she knows what works and what doesn’t.

Then again, everyone has a different threshold and level of knowledge. How far do you want to go, in order to make money online? What do you know about the different ways of doing so? What have you personally tried?
That’s also why its fun and educational to learn from people with different experiences and backgrounds. So instead of just hearing from me on this topic, I’ll open this up to everyone who reads Dosh Dosh by doing a group meme or survey

Survey Topic: What’s the Best Way to Make Money Online?

If someone came up to you and said that they wanted to know the best way to make money on the internet. What would you tell him or her? Let’s imagine that the individual in question is eager and willing to learn what is needed for real results.

By best, I mean the method that brings the greatest amount of potential income, while being practical, cost-effective and do-able. I know a great deal depends on the individual skill levels and interest, so it can be quite difficult to provide a fix-all solution that is suitable for everyone.

I would suggest focusing on what you personally think, feel or know is the best way to earn money online. Elaborate a little on the general steps you think someone should take to successfully utilize the method you’ve suggested. Imagine you’re talking to a friend who trusts your opinion and experiences.

Reasons Why I’m Doing This Group Survey

There are several reasons why I am doing this exercise. First of all, I am curious about what you all think about the topic matter. Not everyone reading Dosh Dosh is a blogger and many are entrepreneurs, small business owners and marketers, so the response should be interesting and useful.

Secondly, this is a good way to give some exposure for everyone. Many of you have been leaving comments regularly, visiting the site daily or promoting it on social media websites. Some have also been subscribed to Dosh Dosh for a long time too. I really do appreciate all the support.

This is a way of saying thanks, by sending you some traffic and visitors. Dosh Dosh gets a decent number of daily visitors and over time, that could translate into a fair amount of traffic and free publicity for you.

Rules and Guidelines

To participate in this group discussion, you simply need to address the survey topic by either leaving a comment or writing a blog post.

Everyone who leaves a comment will have their opinion listed within this or a new article itself, with a link to your website (if you have one). If you write a new blog post referencing this article, you’ll get a link to your blog post as well.

Having said that, there are six basic rules you need to follow:

Comment Length. Your comment should be at least a few paragraphs long. No witty one-liners, please. The reason for this is because I want to encourage everyone to add value and hence, generate something that’s useful for everyone. There’s plenty to write about and you don’t have to feel inhibited or shy here. Just go ahead and share what you think is absolutely the best way to make money online.

Write a Thoughtful Comment. Your comment will be viewed by many readers (over tens of thousands eventually) and I’m sure you want to brand yourself and show your best side. Spend some time to think about what you’re going to write and be sure to edit your copy for grammar/spelling mistakes. This is for your own benefit; I’m quite that visitors will prefer to check out the person behind a well written and insightful comment.

Leave Your Name, Please. Instead of leaving your URL or site name, leave your comment in this format: Maki - Dosh Dosh (name - site name). This makes it easier to reference and its more friendly too. I don’t really fancy comments with keyword or brand names because I don’t know who I’m talking to. Yes, this also means no anonymous comments too. Use a fake name if you must.

No External Links. I don’t really like deleting external links left by readers, especially when they point to to shady or spam sites so I’m going to institute a no-links policy for comments across the board. Please do not insert any links to any site in your comments. Of course, if you write a blog post, you can link to anything you want, within it.

Site URLs. I won’t be linking to poker, porn or pills and any other site which I deem to be really offensive. I would also prefer to not have any affiliate landing pages as well. This isn’t a free for all so do not use unsuitable urls.

Don’t Over Promote. It’s perfectly fine to talk about your own experiences or sites but please don’t use this as a chance to sell your services or products. This isn’t really the place for you to do so. Keep your comments on topic and relevant. Excessively promoting your own site will just make you look bad.

I’ll put up the comments as and when I receive them either in this post or a new article. I will probably close this post in a day or two depending on the number of entries received, so that it won’t be too long or difficult to read.

18 Adsense Optimized Wordpress Themes to Maximize your Contextual Ad Earnings

When I first started Dosh Dosh, I decided to use an Adsense Wordpress template that was designed with the primary goal of maximizing ad earnings. I wanted a Wordpress theme with distinct ad blocks so I can easily blend contextual or other types of affiliate ads alongside my main content.
As you probably know, effective ad placement is critical if you plan to make any significant amounts of money through Google Adsense or other contextual ad systems.

Using a blog template with distinct ad blocks and optimized ad placements will very likely help you increase your Click through rates and affiliate conversions. These customized blog designs are also known as Adsense Ready themes.

How are Adsense Ready Themes different from other blog templates?

A key element that is central to all Adsense Ready themes is their focus on integrating contextual ads around content. As you will notice, the ads and link units are carefully placed above, beside and below each individual post to maximize exposure and their click through potential.

Several themes will also allow you to easily place blocks of square ads within each post, which is one of the proven ways to receive the highest amount of ad clicks from the average blog visitor.

Here are some general characteristics of most Adsense Optimized themes:

Built in Adsense blocks for easy ad insertion.

Ads are active once the Adsense Publisher ID is inserted or changed

Optimized Ad placement, colors and types according to Google’s guidelines

Adsense linkunits and search are already included.

Search Engine Friendly. Post and category titles are used for page titles etc.

Why should I use Adsense Ready Templates?

The main reason why you should use an Adsense ready theme is convenience. You don’t have to sift through too much code and there’s no need to make major adjustments to the template’s form.

In many instances, all you need is to insert your Adsense publisher ID and you’re done. This will probably only take a few minutes, which can be a huge time and effort saver.

You can probably hack any other Wordpress template to include ads but they can be a hassle if you are unfamiliar with how to optimize your ad placement. Most of these templates are not terribly attractive but I think they are functional and their ad placement is pretty decent.

I think Adsense Ready templates are very useful when you own dozens or hundreds of niche websites which use credited feeds or free content. Niche websites with high paying keywords will be naturally more profitable when you use templates with optimized ad placements.

Dosh Dosh’s List of 18 Adsense Optimized Wordpress Themes

As far as I know, this collection of Adsense Ready themes is the largest online. I’ve included a link to each theme’s home page and as well as a direct download link for your convenience.

Some of the screen shots were taken from the websites referenced and others were screen grabs of blogs running the specific theme. If you know of any other Adsense themes I’ve missed, leave a comment and I’ll add it to the list.
All of the themes should be compatible with Wordpress 2.0+. Feel free to check the theme’s homepage for more information on compatibility and installation.

Google Adsense Tips

Use Link Units near your navigation. Link Units tend to be most profitable if they are clicked on by users searching for something particular. Therefore, placing the Link Unit near your navigation is the prime place users look to find what they are looking for on your site.

One Google Adsense tip is to follow the Google Adsense TOS (Terms of Service). For example, you may use Google Adsense on as many web pages as you want throughout your website but remember to follow the Google Adsense rules that state you can have a maximum of three ad units and three link units per page.

When deciding on a topic to build your website around, choose a topic that is more of a niche topic instead of a general topic. Google Adsense works best when the website topic focuses on a specific niche because the targeted ads become more closely related to the topic. When a website is very broad you will notice the Google Adsense ads are often not relevant to the content of the page and this reduces the likelihood of users clicking on the ads. With a targeted site you get better related ads and therefore the CTR will be much better.

Pay not only attention to your earnings in your Adsense Reports but look closely at what type, color scheme and placement seems to be the most effective.

When building a new site it is best to not put the Adsense ads on the pages until after you have designed the site and added the content to each page. A real new site is probably better off initally focusing on building inbound links and generating traffic before adding the Adsense code to the pages.

Google Adsense pays approximately 60% of the revenue for each click to you.

The ads that are displayed are based on the content of the page and not the meta tags. So your keyword density in your copy is important for having the most relevant ads appear on you page.

Google Adsense Secrets

Google published a short list of the highest performing Google Adsense ad sizes:

336×280 Large Rectangle

300×250 Inline Rectangle

160×600 Wide Skyscraper

In addition, the 728 Leaderboard size ads also perform very well and should be used regularly along with the Large Rectangles and Wide Skyscrapers.
The Google heat map shows that most users focus their attention mostly on the content in the center of the page and in the usual navigation areas just below the top and on the left side. The Google Adsense secret to place ads in these areas will result in better click through rates then other areas of the page.

A few Google Adsense secrets are to blend the ads into your page so users cannot easily ignore your ads, a phenomena known as banner blindness. When you blend your Adsense ads into your content the ads look and feel like part of the page. For example, if you use black font then try placing some ads w/out a border and customize the ad so it has a black title, black description, and a black hyperlink. Another example of this is if you use high contrasting color links on your page then make the Adsense ads also use the same high contrasting link colors as well.

When using multiple ads on a page, realize that you want to have your users clicking on the higher paying ads so it is sometimes best to remove an ad. Removing this low paying ad allows the other two ads to earn higher paying clicks.

Overall, Google Ads are supposed to enhance your visitors' experience and not take away from it and this point alone is the best Google Adsense secret.

Google Adsense Secret Tips & Optimization Tricks

1. For short articles, CTR is best when ads are placed just above the content

2. For long articles, CTR improves if ads are placed somewhere in middle of the content - visitors read the long content and then they are looking for more resources.

3. Use Text Ads instead of Image Ads as users get more options. If you still want to display image ads, consider ad formats that support image ads - Choose either the 300×250 medium rectangle or the 160×600 wide skyscraper - or both, if you display multiple ad units on a page.

4. Google Ads without background color and borders always perform better. Make the border color and background color same as your page background color.

5. Always put ads above the main fold. Make sure that the ad unit with the highest clickthrough rate is the first instance of the ad code that appears in the HTML. Since the first ad unit is always filled before the rest, you want to make sure that ad unit is located in the best placement on your page.

6. Try setting the ad link URL color to a lighter shade. If your text is black, you may make the adlink as light gray.

7. Go Wide - The large rectangle is the best paying adsense format (336×280) - The Google Adsense Publisher team also feels that the best formats are the wider ones - the ad formats that contain the widest individual ads. Try using the 336×280 large rectangle, 300×250 medium rectangle, or 160×600 wide skyscraper.

8. Placing images next to ads or above ads does help in attracting user attention.

9. Blend AdLinks with other navigation links or place horizontal adlinks at the top of your webpage. AdSense publishers are permitted to click on link unit topics on their web pages, provided that they do not click on any Google ads on the resulting page.

10. Organize an Adsense Party for your friends and colleagues - Request them to navigate your website, watch their activity - it will provide vital clues about which regions on your website draw more user attention. Try putting ads near those areas.

11. You can put upto 3 adsense units on a page. Try putting a large skyscraper on the right navigation sidebar of your website. That area is close to the browser scrollbar. You can also add 2 AdSense for search boxes, 1 adlink unit and 1 referral button per product (i.e., 1 AdSense referral button and 1 Firefox plus Google Toolbar referral button).

12. The first few lines of your content are an important factor for determining what Ads are served on your webpage. That’s the right place to put keywords in bold (strong or &ltb> tags) or header tags (h1, h2, etc).

13. Always select the setting to open Google Adsense search box results in a new browser window, so you won’t lose your visitors. Click the Open search results in a new browser window checkbox and this add target=”google_window” to your form tag.

14. Maximum people think the search box is on the top right corner. So you know where to put it.

15. Don’t syndicate full content. If people can read everything from the newsreader window itself, why would they visit your website where your ads are.

16. Use URL channels to determine performance of individual pages. I track my most popular pages with Google Analytics, Statcounter and create a channel for each of the URL. You can even track adsense click with analytics

17. For low CTR pages, try changing titles or adding more content to get better focused ads

18. Block low paying advertisers with Filters. Why to loose a visitor for 0.01 cents. Use Overture or Google Adwords Keywords tool to discover keywords that are less popular with advertisers.

19. The AdSense for search Top Queries report shows you what your users are looking for, by listing the 25 most common searches conducted through your AdSense for search boxes. Use this report to identify additional topics to add to your site, or to keep track of your most sought-after information. Focus and improve that content.

20. Not everyone has a RSS reader. Use RSS to Email services like FeedBlitz, Bloglet or Rmail to let users subscribe to your blog by email.

Remember, you are the best judge when it comes to choosing ad formats. Even Google doesn’t offer the best advise always. For instance, in the visual heat map, Google suggests that webmasters are best served by positioning ads on the upper left-hand side of a Web page. But on the Google homepage, you will find ads on the far right.

Tips to Increase Google AdSense Earnings

a. Some of its charm rubs off on
the ads, making the ads more believable — and interesting!

If you have a website with impartial product reviews, for instance, visitors
are more likely to click the ads to learn more about a product, check out the
latest prices or order online.

It’s crucial to create content that’s genuinely interesting. But your work
doesn’t stop there.

After setting up your AdSense Account, the first thing you want to do is play
with your ad formats and placement to make the ads blend in. That's where
the bulk of the "easy-money" is hiding.

But once you've got that right, what next? You start tweaking the text and
making all sorts of other changes to improve your CTR.

But every time you make any sort of change to your ads, you must
track the results.

Consider this example:

Joe Drinker has a great website about "How to make Beer at Home". It's
doing well on AdSense, but not well enough. His week’s stats look something
like this:

Date Page
Impressions
Clicks Page CTR Page eCPM Your
earnings
4/2/05 40930 1516 3.7% 5.62 229.92
4/3/05 40358 1574 3.9% 6.59 265.99
4/4/05 38962 1517 3.9% 6.11 238.01
4/5/05 33563 1381 4.1% 6.38 214.21
4/6/05 32978 1325 4.0% 6.76 223.81

65
4/7/05 28207 1294 4.6% 7.52 212.01
4/8/05 27322 1251 4.6% 7.47 204.20

Joe is pretty happy with his CTR but wonders if he can raise his CPM and in
the process, lift his earnings. So he looks up high-priced keywords related to
his subject, and works the term "beer cans" into his content.

A few days later he logs into the stats on his AdSense account and finds that
that that change has actually HURT his income:

Date Page
Impressions
Clicks Page CTR Page eCPM Your
earnings
4/9/05 32744 985 3.0% 4.21 137.95
4/10/05 32286 1023 3.2% 4.94 159.59
4/11/05 30954 986 3.2% 4.59 142.08
4/12/05 26850 898 3.3% 4.78 128.52
4/13/05 26382 861 3.3% 5.08 134.28
4/14/05 22566 841 3.7% 5.63 127.20
4/15/05 21858 813 3.7% 5.60 122.52

Joe has not only disappointed a lot of collectors who come looking for beer
cans — his site contains lots of keywords but little in the way of good content
— he has also discouraged visits from people who want to make beer at
home.

His search ranking has gone down, making his website harder for people to
find him and lowering his impressions. It's also hurt his earnings per click as
the people who visit the site leave faster. What's worse is that he's also
risked his AdSense standing!

Now, does that make it a bad idea to optimize your website for AdSense?

Not at all. It is actually a good idea, if you do it right. And by that I mean…
No Shortcuts!

There is a simple, step-by-step process to optimize your website for high-
paying search terms. And this method is almost fool-proof! So why isn't
everybody doing this?

Simply because very few web publishers know how to use Tracking to their

advantage.

Tracking will not only help you minimize your mistakes, it will also reveal
hidden pockets of money that you would have never found otherwise.

Read on to find out how YOU can use Tracking to sky-rocket your
CTRs and increase revenues per-click.

. What To Do Before You Apply To Google AdSense

Guidelines for new web publishers

Imagine this. Mr. Big Google Advertiser is surfing the net, looking up some
trade-related keywords. He clicks through lazily to land on a strange website.
The logo looks amateurish. The content is full of typos. Heck, some of the
links don't even work. And then, he sees something he least expects to find.

He seems to freeze for a second. His eyes pop wide open and you can see a
muscle going in his cheek. He picks up his phone and dials a number. "I can't
believe it!" He booms, "I can't believe you put MY ad on THAT website!"

Uh oh.

Google has a reputation to live up to. A reputation for providing quality
content, targeted traffic and good value for money to their advertisers.

The way to meet these requirements is to provide content that meets their
requirements and goes one step further to add something unique, which
other websites might not offer.

Before you apply to Google AdSense, make sure you haven't cut corners on
the layout and the quality of content. Google is quick to reject websites that
are built specifically to attract search spiders or that trick people into clicking
AdSense Ads.

To make a sizable income from AdSense, you need unique content, a true
commitment to your visitors and focused content — which makes it easy
for advertisers to target their audience.

To sum up, here are a few quick Do's and Don'ts before you Apply:

12.1 Don't build a website that specifically targets search spiders,
with nothing unique to offer human visitors.

I’ve already discussed the importance of creating content that your users

are genuinely going to find interesting. If you have interesting content, you’ll
have higher CTR and higher revenues.

With so many legitimate ways of creating revenue-generating content, you’re
only cheating yourself when you take a short-cut. You reduce your CTR and
you increase the odds of being banned by Google.

Don't build a website just to make money from AdSense.

The easiest way to produce genuinely interesting content is to produce
content that genuinely interests you!

You might feel that the more pages that you can throw up, the more money
you’ll make but if you can’t produce the sort of content that can compete
with companies who produce genuinely good material, you’re not going to
get the traffic or the revenues.

But there is plenty of topics that you know about and enjoy. That’s the kind
of material that can give you money.

It will also make earning that money a lot more fun.

Provide targeted content that will help Google Advertisers to
capitalize your traffic.

But writing about what you enjoy rather than what can help you earn
doesn’t mean you should forget about using your content to bring you
targeted ads.

If you know that there are certain keywords in your topic that are worth
more, then you can certainly write about those. You can also make sure that
you toss in plenty of keywords and headings to keep those ads targeted.

DON'T build a website specifically to target high-
value keywords unless you plan on developing
quality content!

Not all advertisers bid high on the same keywords.
Just as it’s a bad idea to create more content simply to create

more money, so it’s a mistake to focus on particular keywords to
create lots of money!

If you are prepared to produce good content and want that content to include
high value keywords, one VERY useful report reveals those high-value
keywords. You can find it at:
http://www.adsense-secrets.com/cashkeywords.html

If you want to aggressively build sites, another very useful tool you might
want to look at is Top Keyword Lists.

This is a 'plug and play' monthly membership service offering twenty-five
high-paying AdSense markets each and every week. With a simple page
generating application, you can turn out twenty-five sites quickly and easily
from each week's updates. If you prefer to spend a little more time building
your site with articles, they offer a unique keyword research tool that allows
you to pinpoint the key phrases you should concentrate your articles on for
maximum payout through AdSense. Read more about it at
http://www.adsense-secrets.com/topkeywords.html

Websites that rank higher in a Google search (SERPS) will get a
better per-click payout than websites which rank lower for the
same search term.

I don’t know if that’s because Google just wants to reward sites who meet
their criteria for high search listings or because they assume that sites that
rank higher are going to have better users for advertisers than lower-ranked
sites.

Most likely though, is that it’s all about content relevance. A top-
ranking website is considered more relevant than a lower-ranking one. So
keep an eye on your Google Search Ranking for your targeted search terms
and work continuously to optimize your website. The upshot is that when

you’ve created your site, you need to pay attention to search engine
optimization.

That won’t only win you free traffic, it will also get you more money for the
traffic you receive.

Increase 'Readiness to Buy'

Advertisers prefer websites that qualify visitors for the purchase.
Allow me to explain with this simple example: A search for "cell phones" can
throw up a page about the perils of cell phone radiation, a university
professor's treatise about messaging technologies and a buyer's guide that
compares features and prices of top-selling cell phone models.

For an advertiser looking to target cell phone buyers, the buyer's guide offers
the most relevant (and therefore valuable) advertising space.

This is part of targeting your content.

You want people to click on your ads. So do your advertisers.

If you can keep your content focused on the products your advertisers are
selling then you should be able to increase your CTR.

Of course, it’s also Google’s job to make sure that your ads match your
content, but if you’re writing about DVD’s it makes sense to produce content
that encourages people to buy DVD’s because those are the sort of ads you
know you’re going to be served!

If you were writing about homebuying, you can be sure that you’d get ads
about mortgages and real estate agents. Put up pages about finding the right
mortgage or how to pick a real estate agent and not only do the ads look
even more relevant, they’ll also appear more attractive.

Tim Carter is a living example of how content relevance builds loyalty. As an expert
in his field, he adds relevance and credibility to the ads appearing on his pages.
Check out this example at: http://www.askthebuilder.com/535-Installing-Large-
Ceramic-Tiles.shtml

Don't cut corners. Watch out for typos, amateurish layouts,
malfunctioning links, poor-quality or plagiarized content.

Users expect to reach professional websites. Those are the ones they spend
the most time on and pay the most attention to. Those are also the ones that
Google rewards the most.

It pays to put effort into improving your website. It pays to have a good
design and a site that’s attractive and well-maintained.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://dollermachine.blogspot.com/2009/07/what-to-do-before-you-apply-to-google.html' title='. But blogs
certainly aren’t the only types of content online or the only types that can
use AdSense.

In an active Internet Community, users generate most of the content.
You cannot completely control the keywords or the topics, which means
AdSense might spring some surprises with the ads that show up. (Just have
some Alternate Ads handy, in case AdSense pulls up a series of non-paying
public service ads.)

Unlike passive surfers who like to explore your website for relevant
information, forum members are very focused on their messages and the
responses they attract.

Many publishers that play host to Internet Communities complain of
negligible CTRs, scattered keywords (low content relevance) and low cost per
click. What they don't realize is that Internet Communities are a hidden gold-
mine which inspire fanatical loyalty, repeat visits, unique content and a high
level of user involvement with the content.

Mega-brands such as Apple and Harley Davidson were built on the same
foundation — a deep sense of personal bonding, high involvement with the
product and strong referrals. You can achieve the same result with your
website!

While all Internet Communities are not the same, they do have the same key
strengths. You just need to recognize them and find new ways to cash in on
them — as some savvy web publishers are doing already!

On the next page you'll find a few ideas to spark off your imagination:

Forum Members are very focused on their topic of discussion. Ads
that appear on the top, bottom or side margins of the page may
not distract them from their main objective — which is to read

and write the posts!

The best way to capture their attention is to put your ads at the end
of the top posting on each page. Posts that appear on top are read
more often, and usually set the tone for the rest of the discussion.

Many web publishers swear by Google's 728x90 leaderboard ad
with two ads trailing top-of-the-page posts.

What gets the most clicks in any forum?
The forum buttons of course! Put your ads close to these useful
buttons, sought out by users to search threads, create a new thread or
post a reply.

Without ever asking users to click, the heading "Deal of Day" turns the
Google Ads into a recommended resource for finding the day's top
deals.

Impressive forum stats, such as the number of members, threads and posts
appear alongside the ads, making them look more legitimate. The sheer
number of users creates a sense of urgency to check them out before other

members get their hands on the coveted deals!

Make sure you apply the same text formatting as the user-
generated content. It's important to gain your users' attention first
— then pitch your message when they're all ears!

Try putting the ads at the bottom of each post. If users spot the
pattern and your click-throughs start to drop, try putting the ads at
the bottom of every alternate post. The key is to keep them guessing!

Don't break up a post by putting ads in the middle. Since forums
have user-generated content, people are more sensitive to these
intrusions and might be offended if you make it seem as if the ads are
their personal recommendations.

Don't lump a bunch of ads together in the middle of the page. It
works well with 'passive' visitors, but your forum members will read
right around them!

Allow users to pull up targeted ads with a Google Search Box!
How often has a forum posting piqued your interest enough to launch
a Google search? Once? Twice? All the time? If you're anything like
me, the Google Search Box is an added convenience, welcomed
by most users. It makes your visitors stay! And if they click an ad
from the results page, you make money!

Which of these strategies will work for your Forums?

Only time can tell — but don't forget to track your results with Google's FREE
AdSense Channels. There are publishers who have made a fortune with their
community pages. It doesn't take rocket science. Banners? Skyscrapers? Rectangles?
Squares? What about borders and background colors?

The choices can be overwhelming. Many people let Google decide for them-
preferring to stick with the default settings. Big mistake! From my own
experience I can tell you that it's like swapping a hundred-dollar bill for a
ten-dollar one.

For almost one year I settled for just a tenth of what I could have been
making — just because I didn't bother to control the looks and placement of
my AdSense ads.

The various ad formats, colors and their placement on the web page can be
done in thousands of combinations. You can literally spend hours every day
experimenting with every possible combination. But you don't want to, do
you?

Let me give you a few 'ground rules' that have sky-rocketed the CTR's on my
top-grossing pages:

Don't "look" like an ad

People don't visit your website for ads. They want good content.

If you make the ads stick out with eye-popping colors, images or borders,
that makes them easy to recognize as ads — and people work extra hard to
avoid them.

The same goes for ads that are tucked away in the top, bottom or some
other far corner of the page. So easy to ignore!

If you want people to click, make the ads look like an integral part of your
content.

Today's visitors are blind to banners, mad at pop-ups, weary of ads and
skeptical of contests and giveaways. So how do you win their confidence?
Simple. Don't make your ads look like ads!

Go for text ads instead of image ads

A text ad offers many advantages over image ads:

A. With the right formatting, a text ad 'blends in' with your site content. An
image ad will not give you the same freedom with its
appearance, as the only thing you can play with is the size
and positioning.

B. You can squeeze more text ads into the space that a
conventional banner takes. People love to have more
choices!

C. Properly formatted text ads don't look like clutter. Banners
do!

D. People hate banners and avoid them at sight. Many tests
confirm that people are much more receptive to text ads
related with your content.

To compare the look and feel of the different ad formats, there's nothing like
Google's official AdSense guide at:
https://www.Google.com/AdSense/adformats

The Best Performing Ad Size

So you’ll want to use text ads and you’ll want them to look like anything but
an ad. But you’ll also want them to be a particular size. Which size is that?

336 x 280 – the Large Rectangle.

Why should you choose the 336 x 280 ad block? Simple. It gets the most
clicks! My studies have shown that this format looks most like real content
added to a page. I’ve dabbled with every size Google offers and this is the
size that consistently has the best results. Other people have told me the
exact same thing. That’s all I need to know!

Second best is the 300 x 250 – The Medium Rectangle.

This ad block size is really useful when you went to have two sets of ads side
by side. They fit on most web pages just perfectly!

I would also recommend using the 'wide skyscraper', text-only ads on the
right hand edge of the screen — in conjunction with the 3-way matching I
talk about in chapter 4.

If you think about it, nearly all PC users are right handed (even left-handed
people like me control their mouse with their right hand because it's how we
were 'brought up' to use a mouse.) By placing the ads on the right hand
edge it's psychologically 'less distance' between your right hand and the
screen.

This 'closeness' in my opinion makes the user feel more comfortable and
therefore more likely to click through to a link. They feel more in control of
their visit experience.

Stay away from the 468 x 60 ad block!

One of the first things people do when they sign up for AdSense is to grab a
468 x 60 ad block.

Big mistake.

I have a theory about why they do this. It’s the same theory that explains
why the 468 x 60 block does not entice clicks.

Most site owners have the mindset that when they put Google ads on their
site, they must place the code that conforms most to traditional web
advertising. And that would be...? Yup, the 468 x 60, the ubiquitous banner
format that we have all come to know and love and... IGNORE.

Everyone is familiar with the 468 x 60. And that’s exactly why the click-
through rate on this size is very low, even among advertisers who use
images on their banners.

The 468 x 60 blocks screams, "Hey! I am an advertisement! Whatever you
do, DON'T click me. In fact, you should run from me as fast as you can!"

In all but a few special cases, I have found the 468 x 60 ad block to be
completely ineffective, and recommend ignoring it the same way your visitors
do.

Using Colors To Increase Your Clicks

once a fashion show where each model wore the exact same black
outfit for the entire duration of the show. Boring? Hardly! The show was
intended to showcase platinum jewelry, and the outfits were designed to
enhance the jewelry — instead of distracting the audience.

You don’t have to make all the pages on your website identical (or black).
But you do want to make sure that the look of your page draws attention to
the ads — and makes them appear as attractive and as valuable as platinum
jewelry.

Many websites have strong graphic elements that catch the eye —
usually at the expense of the AdSense units.

If you're using AdSense, be judicious in the selection of fonts, font size,
colors, images, tables and other visual aspects of your website.

Draw subtle attention to your AdSense units. Make them the stars of
your show!

Make the border go!

You can more than DOUBLE your click-through's with this one simple
tweak!

Even before the Internet, ads in newspapers and magazines were marked off
with a thick, heavy border. No wonder borders and boxes have come to
symbolize advertising messages.

Ads with prominent borders make your pages look cluttered. They distract
the eye from the ad text, while marking off the ad blocks from the rest of the
content.

Google provides an extensive color palette in your administrative area (see
above). Use it to tweak the look of your ads to suit your web page.

With just one simple click, you can match the color of your ad's border with
the background color of your web page. When the border blends with the
background, it frees up loads of space. The page looks instantly neater and
the ads look more inviting.

Make sure you also pick a matching background color for the ad. The ad's
background must match the page background on which the ad will appear.
If the ad appears in a table, match the table background with the ad
background. The key is to blend the background and border color with the
page, so that the text looks like an integral part of your web content.

Text is Design too!

That's right: the text size, font, color and the color of your ads must match
the other text elements. If the text color of the ads is the same as the text in
the body of your page, it’ll help the ads blend into the site and make the
reader feel that you’ve endorsed them.

And if the size of the font in the ads is the as the size of the main body of the
content, it will have the same effect: they’ll look like part of your site and not
something brought in by Google.

That’s the sort of blending that translates into clicks.

You can see this on my blog. I’m running a test where I’ve changed the title
color of the ads to match the color of the titles on the text. I’ve also matched
the text color of the ads to the color of the site text and the background of
the ads to the background of the page. (I could also change the size of the
font and see what that does to my CTR.)

This 3-way matching (titles, text and background) can generate excellent
click-through rates.

Too many text styles add clutter and can confuse your visitors. Instead, try
every legitimate way to make the ads look like a part of your web content.

In other words use the colors to make sure that your ads don't look like
ads!

Blue Is Best

So you want to get rid of the border. You want to get your ads the same
color as the text on the rest of your page and the background matching the
background color of your Web page.

But what about the link itself, the line the user is actually going to click?
What color should that be?

That’s an easy one: blue.

I used to say that all the text in the ad should match the text on your page,
including the link. After seeing an article about the benefits of keeping the
links blue — and testing extensively — I don’t say that any more.

The logic is that users have come to expect links on websites to be blue. Just
as they expect stop signs to be red and warning signs to be yellow, so they
expect their links to blue.

That means people are more likely to click on a blue link than a link
in any other color.

The line in your AdSense code that sets the color of your link is the one that
says:

Google_color_link = “#color”;

“#color” is the hexadecimal number for the color you want to use. You
should make sure that number is #0000FF.

Keep your link blue and you can experience an increase in click-throughs as
high as 25 percent!

Deliberate Mismatching

When it comes to choosing colors, I recommend 3-way matching and using
blue for the links. But there is another strategy that you can use.

You can deliberately mismatch your ad colors and styles, provided you keep
it to the top of your page.

This distinction generates two powerful 'zones' and therefore two types of
experience for the visitor.

The first zone is always at the top of the first page, above the main site
banner. The titles and text colors match colors found in the banner graphic
heading. (Important — the URL links are hidden, so only certain text ads will
allow you to do this.)

The end result is that these ads, placed above the banner graphic look like
key control points for your site and are just more likely to be clicked. The
visitor feels that they are visiting the another major area of that site.

55 Quick SEO Tips

1. If you absolutely MUST use Java script drop down menus, image maps or image links, be sure to put text links somewhere on the page for the spiders to follow.

2. Content is king, so be sure to have good, well-written and unique content that will focus on your primary keyword or keyword phrase.

3. If content is king, then links are queen. Build a network of quality backlinks using your keyword phrase as the link. Remember, if there is no good, logical reason for that site to link to you, you don’t want the link.

4. Don’t be obsessed with PageRank. It is just one isty bitsy part of the ranking algorithm. A site with lower PR can actually outrank one with a higher PR.

5. Be sure you have a unique, keyword focused Title tag on every page of your site. And, if you MUST have the name of your company in it, put it at the end. Unless you are a major brand name that is a household name, your business name will probably get few searches.

6. Fresh content can help improve your rankings. Add new, useful content to your pages on a regular basis. Content freshness adds relevancy to your site in the eyes of the search engines.

7. Be sure links to your site and within your site use your keyword phrase. In other words, if your target is “blue widgets” then link to “blue widgets” instead of a “Click here” link.

8. Focus on search phrases, not single keywords, and put your location in your text (“our Palm Springs store” not “our store”) to help you get found in local searches.

9. Don’t design your web site without considering SEO. Make sure your web designer understands your expectations for organic SEO. Doing a retrofit on your shiny new Flash-based site after it is built won’t cut it. Spiders can crawl text, not Flash or images.

10. Use keywords and keyword phrases appropriately in text links, image ALT attributes and even your domain name.

11. Check for canonicalization issues - www and non-www domains. Decide which you want to use and 301 redirect the other to it. In other words, if http://www.domain.com is your preference, then http://domain.com should redirect to it.

12. Check the link to your home page throughout your site. Is index.html appended to your domain name? If so, you’re splitting your links. Outside links go to http://www.domain.com and internal links go to http://www.domain.com/index.html.

Ditch the index.html or default.php or whatever the page is and always link back to your domain.

13. Frames, Flash and AJAX all share a common problem - you can’t link to a single page. It’s either all or nothing. Don’t use Frames at all and use Flash and AJAX sparingly for best SEO results.

14. Your URL file extension doesn’t matter. You can use .html, .htm, .asp, .php, etc. and it won’t make a difference as far as your SEO is concerned.

15. Got a new web site you want spidered? Submitting through Google’s regular submission form can take weeks. The quickest way to get your site spidered is by getting a link to it through another quality site.

16. If your site content doesn’t change often, your site needs a blog because search spiders like fresh text. Blog at least three time a week with good, fresh content to feed those little crawlers.

17. When link building, think quality, not quantity. One single, good, authoritative link can do a lot more for you than a dozen poor quality links, which can actually hurt you.

18. Search engines want natural language content. Don’t try to stuff your text with keywords. It won’t work. Search engines look at how many times a term is in your content and if it is abnormally high, will count this against you rather than for you.

19. Not only should your links use keyword anchor text, but the text around the links should also be related to your keywords. In other words, surround the link with descriptive text.

20. If you are on a shared server, do a blacklist check to be sure you’re not on a proxy with a spammer or banned site. Their negative notoriety could affect your own rankings.

21. Be aware that by using services that block domain ownership information when you register a domain, Google might see you as a potential spammer.

22. When optimizing your blog posts, optimize your post title tag independently from your blog title.

23. The bottom line in SEO is Text, Links, Popularity and Reputation.

24. Make sure your site is easy to use. This can influence your link building ability and popularity and, thus, your ranking.

25. Give link love, Get link love. Don’t be stingy with linking out. That will encourage others to link to you.

26. Search engines like unique content that is also quality content. There can be a difference between unique content and quality content. Make sure your content is both.

27. If you absolutely MUST have your main page as a splash page that is all Flash or one big image, place text and navigation links below the fold.

28. Some of your most valuable links might not appear in web sites at all but be in the form of e-mail communications such as newletters and zines.

29. You get NOTHING from paid links except a few clicks unless the links are embedded in body text and NOT obvious sponsored links.

30. Links from .edu domains are given nice weight by the search engines. Run a search for possible non-profit .edu sites that are looking for sponsors.

31. Give them something to talk about. Linkbaiting is simply good content.

32. Give each page a focus on a single keyword phrase. Don’t try to optimize the page for several keywords at once.

33. SEO is useless if you have a weak or non-existent call to action. Make sure your call to action is clear and present.

34. SEO is not a one-shot process. The search landscape changes daily, so expect to work on your optimization daily.

35. Cater to influential bloggers and authority sites who might link to you, your images, videos, podcasts, etc. or ask to reprint your content.

36. Get the owner or CEO blogging. It’s priceless! CEO influence on a blog is incredible as this is the VOICE of the company. Response from the owner to reader comments will cause your credibility to skyrocket!

37. Optimize the text in your RSS feed just like you should with your posts and web pages. Use descriptive, keyword rich text in your title and description.

38. Use captions with your images. As with newspaper photos, place keyword rich captions with your images.

39. Pay attention to the context surrounding your images. Images can rank based on text that surrounds them on the page. Pay attention to keyword text, headings, etc.

40. You’re better off letting your site pages be found naturally by the crawler. Good global navigation and linking will serve you much better than relying only on an XML Sitemap.

41. There are two ways to NOT see Google’s Personalized Search results:

(1) Log out of Google

(2) Append &pws=0 to the end of your search URL in the search bar

42. Links (especially deep links) from a high PageRank site are golden. High PR indicates high trust, so the back links will carry more weight.

43. Use absolute links. Not only will it make your on-site link navigation less prone to problems (like links to and from https pages), but if someone scrapes your content, you’ll get backlink juice out of it.

44. See if your hosting company offers “Sticky” forwarding when moving to a new domain. This allows temporary forwarding to the new domain from the old, retaining the new URL in the address bar so that users can gradually get used to the new URL.

45. Understand social marketing. It IS part of SEO. The more you understand about sites like Digg, Yelp, del.icio.us, Facebook, etc., the better you will be able to compete in search.

46. To get the best chance for your videos to be found by the crawlers, create a video sitemap and list it in your Google Webmaster Central account.

47. Videos that show up in Google blended search results don’t just come from YouTube. Be sure to submit your videos to other quality video sites like Metacafe, AOL, MSN and Yahoo to name a few.

48. Surround video content on your pages with keyword rich text. The search engines look at surrounding content to define the usefulness of the video for the query.

49. Use the words “image” or “picture” in your photo ALT descriptions and captions. A lot of searches are for a keyword plus one of those words.

50. Enable “Enhanced image search” in your Google Webmaster Central account. Images are a big part of the new blended search results, so allowing Google to find your photos will help your SEO efforts.

51. Add viral components to your web site or blog - reviews, sharing functions, ratings, visitor comments, etc.

52. Broaden your range of services to include video, podcasts, news, social content and so forth. SEO is not about 10 blue links anymore.

53. When considering a link purchase or exchange, check the cache date of the page where your link will be located in Google. Search for “cache:URL” where you substitute “URL” for the actual page. The newer the cache date the better. If the page isn’t there or the cache date is more than an month old, the page isn’t worth much.

54. If you have pages on your site that are very similar (you are concerned about duplicate content issues) and you want to be sure the correct one is included in the search engines, place the URL of your preferred page in your sitemaps.

55. Check your server headers. Search for “check server header” to find free online tools for this. You want to be sure your URLs report a “200 OK” status or “301 Moved Permanently ” for redirects. If the status shows anything else, check to be sure your URLs are set up properly and used consistently throughout your site.

List of Free Search Engine Friendly Directories

Submitting your blog/website to search engine friendly directories is useful in boosting sites ranking, and also considered as one of the most effective method on how to increase traffic to your site.

Here are some measures to know if the directory is search engine friendly or not

1. Links are crawlable and indexable by search engines

Check if the directory has rel=”no-follow” tag (used to instruct some search engines that a hyperlink should not influence the link target’s ranking in the search engine’s index.)

Also try to check if the directory pages were cached by Google, Yahoo and MSN (type “site:www.directorysiteurl.com” in search engine search bar).

2. Offer people something that they cannot obtain elsewhere, brand your website/Blog.

Here is some way how to ensure that your content is of higher quality than others:

1. Make it Informative

You need to offer visitors the information they need to help achieve their goal, solve a problem, be entertained, find out latest news or have a good laugh.

2. Keep fresh content

Provide your visitors updated details with regards to the topic. Let them heard the news first in your site. I suggest adding fresh content every few days if possible; at a minimum, weekly.

4. Make it professionally done

Poor spelling and grammar has a negative effect on the services and information you are being provided.

5. Stay away from content generators or never copy and paste content from other website.

Google, Yahoo, MSN and other search engines are highly equip and logical to detect the copied and unoriginal content, they will send you to the bottom of the pile. Knowing if the content is unique easy, try Copyscape. Putting your own creativity online is one of the main key to increase your website traffic.

Optional: If you hate the thought of generating content yourself or writing is not your passion, outsource article writing. Consider outsourcing and worry no more. Prices per article start as low as $5 per article, depends on the length, content, specialization and quality required.

Ways how to attract advertisers on your Blog

One way how to make money online with your blog/website is to find and attract advertisers to advertise in your site. John Chow earns more than $30,000/month in online ads. So if you do the right ways how to attract advertisers on your Blog, I guess its a good business idea to move your profit to its maximum level.

1. Keep your website/blog professional.

It will help you gain the trust of advertisers.

2. Stick on related topic and keep the ads related to your niche.

This can be the best certainty that the advertiser can reach their target niche.

3. Stay away from Google AdSense

It devalues your site and makes it look unprofessional.

4. Offer Freebies

A free advertisement on your site would be great, who knows if the campaign succeed there is a big possibilities that they may decide to advertise with you.

5. Show them the banners

Give them idea what opportunities awaits on that ad space.

6. Never miss the “About Us” page

Provide them transparent information of who you are and what your blog/website is about.

7. Know your audience.

Study the user demographic information – Age, Gender, and etc. Use online survey poll to get these details.

8. Never miss to have an “Advertise Here” Banner on your site.

Make the advertising process easy to your advertiser by giving them an easy way to contact you for more information.

9. Show your site stats.

For me this is the most important thing. Learn how to increase site visitors, because nobody will be interested to advertise with you if you have no traffic at all. If you already have the amount of traffic shows your monthly unique visitors and total number of impressions, if you don’t have awstat — use Google Analytics. Google PR & Alexa rank is also helpful.

Google AdSense programs: Choose your weapon(s)!

Google currently offers four programs: AdSense for content, AdSense for search, adsense for domain and Premium AdSense.

AdSense for content
AdSense for content is the main AdSense program – contextually targeted ads are displayed on your webpage, and you get paid for every click. These ads are specifically targeted to the content of your webpage. Consequently, if you change the content of your page, the ads that are displayed would also change. AdSense allows you good control over what ads get served, since there might be some obvious problems if it didn’t. These include:

Blocking Ads – you choose

While the ad selection is automatic, you can block unwanted ads – such as those from your competitors. You just tell Google which companies to block from your sites.

Reviewing and filtering Ads – semi-automatic

Google has its own strict policies for ad content (no profanity, no racial discrimination, etc). These are filtered out automatically from your point of view. Additionally, you can choose to block additional content through custom filters. This is slightly different than blocking an advertiser, since with this method an advertiser you generally allow may submit ads that would individually be filtered out.

Allowing the publisher to select an ad

In the rare case where Google’s content engines can’t make a clear match of ads to pages, they will let you pick which ads you want served. If you don’t pick, you’ll get public service spots.

The look-and-feel of Ads can be customized

Ads shouldn’t look out of place or be jarring on your website. Google allows you to customize colors and layout. You can choose options provided or have your own custom layout and color applied to the ads. The advertisers have no control over this; as the material appears on your site, you can and should select how it looks.

Tools for analysis

Tracking and analyzing the performance of any marketing campaign is critical. Google AdSense provides a range of comprehensive online reports that allow you to monitor and analyze your earnings as well as the performance of ads by
many metrics, including size, color, and so forth, so you can make adjustments to maximize the value of the placements.

AdSense for Search

This is another program whereby Google allows you to ad a Google Search box to your website. By doing this, visitors to your site can search the entire internet from your website itself. In a way, your site becomes a host to Google. Except you make money!
The search results page that is displayed when a visitor on your website searches through the search box on the site itself, also displays Google Ads (AdWords ads) next to the usual listings, just as it would on Google.com. If the visitor clicks on any of these Google Ads, you get paid as well. Thus, with AdSense for search you can enhance your income potential beyond what just the content of your actual site can provide.
AdSense for search offers all the same options and controls as AdSense for content. These include ad customization, ad filtering, monitoring and tracking results, and so on.

Google AdSense Premium service

The AdSense Premium service provides advanced functionality and features, provided your website qualifies for it – which in fact very few sites do.
As a base requirement, your website should received at least 5 million search queries or 20 million page views a month to qualify for the Premium service. (We’re betting if your sites qualify for this level of service, you already know all about AdSense!)

How much can I make with AdSense and how do I get started?

You’ve seen the nutty claims by so-called “internet experts” that strategies and programs they have devised enable surfers to earn thousands of dollars within a matter of days! Or minutes!! No such thing.
However, there are several lucrative programs that can provide an extremely generous income with comparatively little effort – Google AdSense is absolutely one of them.
But it takes some time, and it takes some planning, like anything real does. The rest of our report is all about unlocking that potential.
To start understanding the potential, think about how you make money with this program. Each time someone clicks an ad on your pages, you get a percentage of what Google is paid for placing that ad.
Revenue (or Income) from an Ad
=
Clickthrough value of the ad * Payout Rate * Clickthrough rate of the Ad * Webpage traffic * Frequency of Ad
In the above equation, Clickthrough value is the amount the advertiser pays per click for the Ad (this figure varies); the Payout Rate is the percentage of revenue to be paid for every click fixed by Google (this figure varies); Clickthrough rate is simply the # of times the ad is clicked on in a certain period of time divided by the # of times it is displayed during the same period; Webpage traffic is the # of visitors to your website; and Frequency of Ad is the # of times this particular ad appears on your webpage

Let’s put some figures into the above equation and see what the income is. The figures below are for a single day:
Clickthrough Value 􀃆 30 cents or $0.30 (The advertiser pays 30 cents per click for the Ad, to Google)
Payout Rate 􀃆 50% or 0.5 (This is an assumption based on what many experts believe to be the current payout rate for most deals)
Clickthrough rate of the Ad 􀃆 the ad is displayed 100 times within the day and clicked by 9 people 􀃆 the clickthrough rate would be 0.09
Webpage traffic 􀃆 150 visitors during the days
Frequency of Ad 􀃆 100
The Income per day from a single ad would be = 0.30 * 0.5 * 0.09 * 150 * 100
= $202.5
If you consider this to be the average income per day, the total revenue generated within a month would be more than $6000. This is incredible, considering you basically did nothing to earn that money. We know of cases where people have earned even more than $25,000 a month with AdSense, which is a large sum to anyone.
Our goal is to equip you to get started on the road to making money with AdSense.

Adsense Tips : Ad Formats and Their Placement to boost earning

Google provides dozens of ad formats that you can use on your site. These ads are of different
sizes. Some of them are completely ineffective. But some are really powerful. Once you know
what kinds of ad formats to use, you should take care of placing them at the right places. If they
are not placed strategically, they will not be clicked on often enough.
Here are some tips to choose the best kinds of ad formats and optimum placements

Use Large Rectangle (336 x 280) as your primary Ad format

The Large Rectangle (336x280) works like a charm because it has proven itself to be the best
performing format. If you place it “above the fold”, its magic!

Use Wide Skyscraper (160 x 600) on the Left/Right border

The Wide Skyscraper 160 x 600 performs very well on the left or right side of your screen. I prefer
putting it on the left side because it gets seen more than the right side...

Do not neglect the Link Unit!

A Link Unit is one of the most under-utilized ad formats. But if used correctly, and in the right
position, it can be really profitable format if put in the right place. It is supposed to be placed
near your navigation menu. Most people will think it’s a part of your navigation menu and
automatically read it. And if the ads being served are very relevant to your niche, they will click on
it!
Try using a Link Unit format that has 4 keywords in them. This is because the size of the ad text
would be slightly bigger, and look more like a navigational menu. Also make sure to make the
border color blend with your website’s background

Hey, we also have Search Boxes!

Don’t forget that Google also provides us Search boxes that we can put on our site. Do not put
them above the fold. But those in a less prominent place further down the page. Bottom of the
page or somewhere on the left side below the fold is perfect.
Do not expect much money from Search boxes, but anything that comes in extra counts!

Have your Ads above the fold

This is one of the most important tips to increase your CTR. The term “above the fold”, comes from
newspapers. Any news above the fold on the front page of a newspaper will be read more than
any other part of the newspaper. The same rule applies to AdSense too.
Here, “above the fold” means the top position of your screen that is visible without the user
having to scroll down. So if you place your ads “above the fold”, it will be visible to everyone, and
they won’t have to scroll down. Your Ads are therefore more likely to get clicked. Also, the area
above the fold loads before the rest of the page. So this is by far the best location for AdSense Ad
placement.

Try not to have any other links “above the fold”

This may not always be possible. But if you can, remove all links that are “above the fold”. The only

links displayed should be your AdSense Ads. By having any other link, you are giving your visitors
the option of clicking on them. This will decrease your CTR. If you do not have any other links,
your visitors will sub-consciously be forced to click on your AdSense Ads. This will shoot up your
CTR.

Do not neglect the bottom of your page!

If you have followed the above points, you will find that most people click on the ads above the
fold. But there will be some who will go down the page. And when they reach the end, they
normally think “what next?” To help them, we should have an AdSense Ad to bid them farewell!!
By placing an AdSense ad at the end of the page they will often click it!

12Must-KnowTips To Avoid Getting Banned From Google AdSense

Although Google’s AdSense program is an excellent way to earn money,we need to understand
that Google is a company that cannot be messed with!
We should not abuse the system in order to make a quick buck. Many website owners, knowingly
or unknowingly, violate AdSense Terms and Conditions and subsequently get banned.
If you are really serious about earning from AdSense, make sure you do not do anything that can
get yourself banned. I have listed 12 things that you should NEVER even think of doing.

1.Never, I repeat, never click on your own Ads:

I think this is one of the biggest reasons why AdSense accounts get disabled. This seems obvious,
but it’s surprising how many people actually do that intentionally.
If you think by clicking on your own ads, you can fool Google, you are highly mistaken.Google
has got its own proprietary technology to find out if the publisher has clicked on his own ads.
And once they know that, your account is in jeopardy.
Google wants to protect the investment of its advertisers, and it will never tolerate any false
clicks. So make sure you do not make this foolish mistake.

2.Never, I repeat, never tell others to click on your own Ads

I often see click-swapping on AdSense forums. It’s kind of you-click-on-my-ad-and-I-will-click-onyours.
Never ever do this.
If you want a strong AdSense business, stay away from trouble.Don’t ask even your friends,
relatives or employees to click on your ads.Do not provide any kind of an incentive to anyone for
clicking on your ads.
I feel one good way to protect yourself is not to disclose your website’s domain to anyone. Keep it
to yourself and you are safe!

3.Never, I repeat, never modify Google’s AdSense code

This is against Google’s policy. Just use the code as-is.Don’t play around with it at all.

4.Never, I repeat, never put images next to your AdSense Ads.

This is a relatively new policy. When I started with AdSense, this rule did not exist. Moreover, what
Google actually wanted with this policy was never very clear.Nor did Google do a good job of
clearly defining what is allowed and what is not.

Even I had put some pretty images next to my Ads, and achieved excellent CTR. But here is a rule
of thumb. If you are in doubt, ALWAYS play safe. When this policy was enforced, I did not waste a
moment removing images that were next to my ads. After
all, I love my AdSense account, too!
My suggestion: If you have images next to your AdSense ads, remove them immediately

5.Never, I repeat, never title your ads the wrong way.

You are not allowed to label your Ads with messages like“Click Here”,“Related Links”or anything
else that misleads people into thinking that it is not an Advertisement.
You are however allowed to mention “Advertisements”or “Sponsored Links”, because your ads are
actually Advertisements. And Google is OK with that. If you want, you may prefer not to put any
label at all.

6.Never, I repeat, never put AdSense on pages that do not have enough content.

Yeah, this is something that web-masters may not be aware of. But Google allows AdSense only
on pages with good content.
Therefore it is not advisable to put ads on Thank You pages, subscription pages etc.Make doubly
sure that you have Ads only on pages with good content.
This also means that you should not put your ads on sites with junk content.Any site that doesn’t
really add value to the visitor is considered to be a junk site

7.Never, I repeat, never put AdSense on sites that have got prohibitive content.

Make sure you do not have Ads on sites that have got anything to do with drugs, pornography,
hatred, gambling etc.
Again, this is self explanatory, but some people simply don’t understand!

8.Never, I repeat, never create multiple Google AdSense Accounts.

Google allows you to have only 1 personal account and 1 business account.Google links these
two accounts.Never try to fool Google by creating different accounts under different names.
As long as you do not get caught, it’s fine. But if Google traces these accounts as being used by
the same person, all your accounts are in danger of being suspended.

9.Never, I repeat, never enlist your site in any kind of auto-surf or traffic exchange

programs.
Again, this is against Google’s TOS. So stay clear of it.

10.Never, I repeat, never exceed the amount of ads you can display on a page.

Currently Google only allows 3 Ad blocks, 3 Link units and 3 referral buttons to be put on one
page. I personally feel Google has allowed more than what is required. So, I don’t know why you
would ever want more than this.

11.Never, I repeat, never reveal your AdSense Data

Google doesn’t allow public display of your CTR, Impressions,eCPM etc on forums, eBooks,
websites or any other publicly viewable media.
But Google doesn’t have any objection if you mention how much you earn from AdSense… just
don’t go into the details of your clicks, impressions, CTR, or eCPM.

12.Never, I repeat, never stay outdated!

Google’s policies are constantly changing. It will help if you know what changes are taking place
in the world of AdSense so that you can update your sites if required.
If you get banned by AdSense for whatever reason you cannot give the excuse that you were
“not aware” of the policy. This will not be of much help. So know the waters that you tread on!
This article, by no means, is a comprehensive list of AdSense Policies. I highly recommend you go
through all the policies in details. And never even try to cheat the system.

Way To EarnMassive Checks From Google AdSense

Before proceeding further, I would like to mention that whatever you are about to read might
not appeal to some people. But you have to ask yourself “Do I really want to earn from AdSense
or do I want to be one of the countless many who are laying in the AdSense grave?”
If you decide that you want to be an AdSense winner, then welcome to the club! I can tell you
that what you will read will help you make earn a hefty income with AdSense if you actually do
what you learn.
When I started my AdSense business, I had only 1 site - and that site paid me just a few cents
every day. I cried, wailed, but Google didn’t even notice me. I cried again the next week, and the
week after that, but there was no change in my AdSense earning! Looking at my income, I felt no
better than a beggar on the street, with just a few spare changes in my bowl.
Thankfully, I soon realized that it was foolish to depend on just 1 niche. I understood that I did not
have the power to convert a low-paying niche into a high-paying one. But I DID have the power
to choose my niches. No one could stop me from that.
Most people complain that they are not making any money with AdSense. When I ask them how
many niches they’re in or how many sites they have, the answer is usually 3-4.
You see, it is almost impossible to earn from AdSense with just 1 site unless you get thousands of
visitors every day. But I assume you do not have that kind of traffic, right?

Otherwise you probably wouldn’t be reading this!
If you have just 1-2 niches, I can promise you with almost 100% confidence - you will not be
happy looking at your AdSense earnings! If you want to be a big player, you WILL have to
diversify into many niches.Yes, there is a bit of work involved. But you have to consider this as a
business. If you treat it like a business, it will pay you like a business.
If you decide to do this work yourself, it might take you 1-2 months or maybe 3 months. But it’s all
worth it.Another option is to outsource this work and have other people do it for you. But before
you can outsource something, you must first know how to do it on your own. If not, you won’t be
able to show someone else how to do it.
We have to focus on quantity and volume. We want to play in big numbers. When I say we need
to focus on“quantity and volume”, I don’t mean that we need to forget about the quality of the
sites. The sites still MUST have quality content, and essentially “add something to the internet
world.”
You know, there is something really funny about niches. The way some niches work often defies
logic. Niches that you think would be high paying may prove to be total disasters.
And niches that seem to be hopeless might turn out to be real winners. It really has nothing to
do with competition. I always say that you can never be 100% sure about which niches would be
profitable and which won’t.
I have learned that if I go into 10 markets, there will be around 6 that will be winners. So if I want
300 profitable sites, I need to make around 500 sites.
If you ask me, I feel this is much easier than searching for “the best niches” that are out there. It is
just like throwing enough stuff onto the wall and see what sticks.
Once I understood this basic truth, I spent the next few months, making hundreds of mini sites. In
fact I created well over 500 sites. In order to keep Google and my visitors happy, I made sure to
add some good content on each of my sites.
I drove traffic through my sites using PPC, as that was the most convenient way of giving me
instant results.
After regular testing and monitoring, I found that many of those sites were not paying me. I
scrapped them, and concentrated on those that were good. And my AdSense income has never
been the same again.
I am also about to tell you something that might make some of you feel uneasy.
You must have heard that you should have lots of content on your site.“Content is King”, right?

But my views are a bit different here. If you want to build an AdSense business, I think Content is
NOT always the King.
Yes, you should have good content on your site, and you should also comply with Google’s
policies. But do not get overly obsessed with putting TOO MUCH content on your AdSense sites.
Here’s why.We should not forget that our main aim is to make money with AdSense. How do we
do that? Our visitors click on our AdSense ads. Our aim is NOT to provide our visitors everything
that they are looking for. If we give them enough content, they’ll be getting everything they
want, therefore, they won’t click on our AdSense Ads.
Just rinse-and-repeat the process and get into as many niches as possible.Work smarter by
outsourcing smaller tasks as much as possible.
The AdSense business has got nothing to do with luck. It has got everything to do with volume
and hard-work.
As I said, this involves some work. But the effort you put in will give you equal results.Armed with
this knowledge you can almost dictate your AdSense earnings.

Make Money With Clickbank - Does It Work?

Can you make money with clickbank?

One of the biggest affiliate networks around that you can make money with is ClickBank. This company allows you to sell your digital products using their service and create and affiliate program to get a group of salesmen for your product.
They have been widely successful in the internet marketing world and many people make a lot of money with them.

How does Click Bank work?

There are two ways to really make money with ClickBank. The first is to use them to promote your own product. If you have created an ebook for example you can create an account with them and use Clickbank as your payment processor. The advantage to this is that they also serve as your affiliate program manager and they help you recruit affiliates to promote your product.

All you have to do is tell them what percentage of the sale you are willing to pay the affiliates and then ClickBank handles the rest. When an order is placed that came from one of your affiliates ClickBank automatically gives that affiliate the percentage you agreed to and then they deposit the rest of the money into your account. This way you both benefit.

The second way to make money with ClickBank is by signing up to promote other peoples products. This is a great way to decide on an industry to get in. Logon to ClickBank and search through the thousands of products available to promote. These range anywhere from dog training, to diet to learning another language. If you have an interest in life more than likely there is a product (or multiple products) you can promote.

The next step is to find the product and the offer that looks the best and create a website around it. One of the things that we like to do when we find an industry or niche that has a ton of products is to create a review website and review all of the products in that niche. If you do this right you can really help people make buying decisions and they will trust your advice and buy the product through your affiliate link.

It is also easy to create a lot of great content that will end up ranking in the search engines as you write reviews on each product individually. This is our “long term” method to making money through affiliate marketing. I say long term because we love free traffic from search engines and it takes a little time to get ranked but the long term effect is that you get traffic month after month and can really count on the income from the site when you put the time in.

Making Money Through ClickBank - Our Conclusion

We have spent some time on ClickBank looking at different offers that are available to promote. One thing that we have realized is that there are thousands of products on ClickBank that should not be there. Since a person has nothing to lose by placing a product on ClickBank to be promoted they can create a piece of garbage ebook and offer a 75% commission and affiliates will try to sell it.

This is a great disservice to the consumer and my only suggestion to you is that you make sure that any product you promote is legitimate and can truly help people. You wouldn’t want to sell people lung cancer just because you could get 75% of the sale. Promote good products and people will trust your opinion and advice and thus you will make more money with ClickBank.

RSS Feed Build and Submission

<p class="MsoNormal" It can certainly be a good way to inform users that you’ve got new content and bring them back in to view it.
I’m not sure about AdSense on mobile phones.

AdSense started allowing publishers to place one ad unit on mobile Web pages in September 2007. You can select the colors, specify the kind of code your mobile page uses (“wml (WAP 1.x)”, “xhtml (WAP 2.0)”, or “chtml”), and choose ad units with one or two text-link ads (although the double unit can only appear at the bottom of the page.)

It’s currently available in thirteen countries, including US, England, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Ireland, Russia, Netherlands, Australia, India, China, and Japan. It sounds like a good idea, but AdSense for mobile has its challenges. Phones have not shown themselves to be good ways to surf the Web. The screens are tiny, the downloads are slow and it’s very expensive. Most people are prepared to wait until they get home or to the office to look at a website, rather than do it on their mobiles. There are exceptions though. Surfing on phones is fairly popular outside America (especially in Japan). In the United States, it might be used for information that changes quickly such as sports news or finance. If you have a site on either of those topics or which is popular in Asia, you might want to create a page that will work on a mobile, offer breaking news and place an ad on it to see how much it earns. My feeling is that it won’t be worth the effort but it’s still early to say for sure. Much depends on what happens in the mobile phone market. If phone companies copy the iPhone and offer built-in wi-fi, then publishers won’t need to build special pages for mobiles. Doing so would be a waste of time — and if you have to pay programmers, a waste of money too.

On the other hand, if Google’s phone software makes mobile browsing more popular then the market could become large enough to make building special mobile sites worthwhile. Although you’d still want to be sure that Google’s mobile ads do better than AdMob’s, a rival service. At the moment, reports are mixed, suggesting that results depend on the content. In general then, my feeling is that if you currently have a mobile website, AdSense for mobiles might a pretty useful addition although you’d want to test it against AdMob. Optimize the ads as much as you can and put them on the sort of content people on the move are likely to need. If you don’t have a mobile site though — or a Japanese audience or breaking news — you might want to wait before looking for a programmer to help you with the coding.

Google Adsense: Tips to Increase CTR

It's rare for a day to pass in the Webmaster forums where somebody isn't asking, "How can I increase my CTR for Google Adsense?" It's even rarer for a day to pass where I don't land on a site that has Adsense way over on the right side of the page, halfway hidden by the fold, probably making less money than that obnoxious flashing Click-Me-or-the-Monkey-Gets-It banner.

Just as you should optimize your pages for the search engines, you should optimize Adsense for your visitors. You don't want to trick your users into clicking on your ads (in order to ensure the continuation of the program, it's important that advertisers receive visitors that convert to sales), but you absolutely want to make sure your visitors notice the ads. The following five tips will help:

#1 Make sure there is enough keyword rich content (text) on your pages so Adsense can figure out what ads to display instead of showing Public Service Announcements. In particular, ensure you have used your keywords in your title and H1 tags.

#2 Blend the background and border to match the page's background. You don't want to trick visitors into clicking, but you don't want them deadened by banner blindness either.

#3 Put Adsense where people will notice the ads. This is a big one. Try above the fold and within the content. If you use CSS, a floating box works nicely. Definitely, don't stick the ads way over on the right side of the page or below the fold.

#4 Don't put a lot of other ads on your page that will distract visitors from Adsense (or your content for that matter). Cluttered pages make it hard to find things, detracting from usability.

#5 Don't use words in your content that will trigger Public Service Announcements (for example, text related to violence is a big no-no).

Making Money With PTC (Paid To Click) Myth Or Reality?

Making Money With PTC (Paid To Click) Myth Or Reality? -It’s a tough question to answer. Many people say that making money online is scam, because they just can’t make enough. For some countries extra 150$ a month is a lot of cash, but for other - just enough to buy a drink.

International members are struggling to make money online, there aren’t many offers available for them. The only good way is to make money online with paid to click programs. Recent growth in the get paid to click industry caused a lot of fraudulent websites. Website administrators started to scam people, especially international members, because they consider international traffic as cheap and low-rate. But can you even make 150$ with paid to click programs. Everything depends on your promotion skills and the amount of referrals to can recruit.

Due to large amounts of PTC scams, it’s kind of tough to find legit website, but I did find great site, it’s called BuxP.info. I’ve been posting about it a while ago , and they are still paying out cash.

Earning money online is a lot of fun, and the best thing – it’s easy to earn for everyone, no matter where yo live. Buxp pays you to visit sponsored websites, you receive 0.005-0.011 per sponsored visit. It doesn’t sound that much, but the real earning comes, when you start to recruit new members. There are over 25 ads to click a day, and there is a 50% referral bonus. According to this stats, you can calculate your approximate earning.

» You click 25 ads per day = $0.125
» 30 referrals click 25 ads per day = $1.875
» Your daily earnings = $2
» Your weekly earnings = $14
» Your monthly earnings = $60

Well, here is how you can earn easy money online. But it’s not that hard to get 30 referrals, just think how many facebook or myspace friends you have. 300 or even 500? Lets say 50% of your friends join under your referral link, you can be earning way more then that. Here are some ideas about earning money with PTC sites:

Setup free blogger.com website and write about making money online

Tell them that earning is for real,

Ad adsense on your blog for more earning potential

Post on forums, submit your blog to social sites

Create Hub Page and Squidoo lens and link them to your blog

I bet that you would make money with BuxP and your new blog. I do like the administrator of this website, he is really nice, and you can find him on BuxP forums. Also you can check out the Official BuxP complany blog. These guys do treat their business seriously, and I can say for sure that Buxp.info is the best moneymaker for international members nowadays.
