Also for curly hair that is worn out often, it should be used in the morning and in the evening to maintain moisture levels. Dry hair becomes brittle and breaks especially in the Winter months, "The Conditioner" prevents that from happening. Tip: Always cut off dry ends so they don't affect healthy hair.

If you have questions or comments for Kalee please email them to: kaleethestylist@yahoo.com
<!--
Kalee recommends braiding your hair for the majority of time during the winter to keep your strands from drying out and give you a humidity resistant, long lasting, style option. Maintain style with a moisture sheen spray and a silk or polyester scarf at night!

If so there is a reason or two as well as some solutions.

Most chemicals break down the elasticity (ability to stretch) of the hair making it susceptible to snap off somewhere along the shaft. This is especially a result of Relaxers and Chemical Straighten Systems. Other chemicals make the Keratin (protein) in the follicle to weak or soft causing it to fall out from the scalp.

Because of the possibility of breakage due to these processes, it is crucial that you have a consultation with a professional who is experienced and can analyze your hair to access what type of chemical would be the safest for your situation. Ultimately, if it is within the budget, I would strongly suggest you only trust chemical services to the professionals with experience. Below are a few questions with the most correct answers that you can ask a professional in order to be sure you can trust the quality of service you will receive:

Color Clients:
1. What are some sides affects coloring my hair with permanent color can have on my scalp. And how can I prevent or solve them. (Answer: Your hair can become dry, brittle, and sometimes there is an allergic reaction that can cause scalp abrasions. In order to be sure you will not have an allergic reaction we can do a skin test using the product also we can do a double conditioning treatment to bring the moisture back.)
2. What can we do if the color changes into something undesirable like green or too orange or brassy? (Answer: There are times when color does not come out as desired, but there are color corrector products that are made just for that…it can reverse the brassy and the green reactions)

Relaxer/Perm Clients:
How will my perm respond to swimming in a chlorinated pool? (Answer: Do not go swimming in chlorine or salt water for at least 3 to 4 days after the service, after that you are fine but use a special shampoo/Conditioner and leave-in treatment to protect your hair)Will I have any breakage with my perm/relaxer re-touch? (Answer: It is rare that you would have breakage with a relaxer re-touch if it is done properly and overlapping is controlled. However, it is almost impossible to prevent perm overlapping therefore you will experience some breakage due to keratin breaking down. In all the breakage can be minimized or stopped immediately after the service with a reconstructing service that takes no more than 10 to 15 minutes.)

Good Luck, if you're in L.A. I'd me more than happy to give you a free consultation regarding this.
<!--

Universally speaking, all hair begins at the follicle which is in the scalp. The follicle supplies hair with moisture, oils, and protein (Keratin to be exact) in a special formulated balance, that God created, so the hair may grow out healthy. Therefore as long as your diet and supplements are well balanced there is hope for your hair to be healthy and properly moisturized.

Notice I said there is hope. Curly and kinky hair there is a few extra steps we must take because of the mere design of the hair. Have you ever noticed the first inch or two next to your scalp is healthy moisturized and exactly how you would like the rest of your hair to behave. If so that is simply because the oils and moisturizers that come from the follicle have a hard time winding around the curls and kinks than it would falling down straight strands of hair. Therefore curly and kinky hair is extremely dry from mid-shaft to the ends, especially if hairsprays and gels that have alcohol in them are used daily.

Once the problem for dryness is recognized, then the solution is simple right? Just moisturize it. As a hairstylist, I believe if you are going to moisturize your hair why not use the types of moisturizers that not only help the feeling of your hair but that are made up of what your hair and body need, as a result the solution is more long-lasting. Such moisturizers I use are products that contain Honey, Olive oil, Coconut oil, Shea Butter, and other naturally moisturizing herbs and botanicals…products that maintain the moisture balance of the hair in a healthier manner.

http://www.kaleethestylist.com/
<!--

I will be using all natural and botanical products for clients who request it.

2. After watching "Good Hair" I will no longer relax my hair but perform a press if necessary. This resolution is an effort to support the "Green" movement which will render a healthier lifestyle. (But I won't press my ways on others, it's up to you)

3.Eventhough I'm a hairstylist, and mother, and wife, and community helper, and I cater to everyone first and myself last, I will try to make an effort to keep my hair looking nice; busy can no longer be an excuse.

4. Keeping your client cards current and giving recommendations for hair needs has moved up a couple levels on my priority list.

5.Although we are in a recession as an economy and it is tempting to double book, I will continue to service 1 client at a time.

6.Sorry folks, no longer be performing glue in weaves, there is a newer process that is just as flat if not more flat, and longer lasting, and non-damaging.

7.I will be rejecting all hair treatments that are damaging like Keratin Micro Links, applying bleach to low conditioned hair, etc...

Suggested Hair Resolutions for my clients:

1. Let's keep it healthy folks, please, especially ladies. Let's not flat iron our hair every morning, instead, wrap your hair properly at night, and whatever style comes of your wrap in the morning, deal with it and put on a smile, a small bend or crease will not subtract from your beauty. And an additional day withought direct heat can save an end from splitting.

2. If you wear weaves, as I do from time to time, have your scalp detoxed 1 time each month, and do not wear the extensions for more than 3 months, your hair can dreadloc or you can suffocate your scalp from getting necessary oxygen. After 3 months take it down, get a scalp treatment, and then let your scalp rest a little bit before replacing it.

3. If you wear sewn in tracks, please let me place them at different lines, the continued stress on taking them down and replacing them to the same line again, is exactly that - "stress" on your hair follicle.

4. If you want your hair to grow, you need a conditioning detox treatment at least twice per month along with a diet change. I use an herbal and botanical combination that will cater to your specific hair need. It is not adviced to leave your hair alone not washing it for months, THAT IS NOT A GOOD IDEA.

5. Learn what hair type you have, come into the salon and lets evaluate. Once you know what hair type you are then use regimens that match your hair type, this will make your hair healthier and you will like the results better.

6. Holding on to dead ends, even if they are 2 inches of fried frazzled ends, is like holding on to old baggage. After conditioning and blowdrying if they are still prevelant, please let me trim them.

7. Relaxer Clients and Color Clients, any chemical clients for that matter. Let's gradually put an end to using excessive heat directly after the chemical process, your hair and scalp has been through an intense process when it is chemically altered. A roller set or wrap under the dryer, yes, under the slow dryer will maintain good health to your hair. I understand if you have a show or a shoot you have to do what you have to do in order to complete the style in less time as possible.

Kalee the Stylist 2010 Hair Resolution - Happy Healthy Hair!

http://www.kaleethestylist.com/
<!--
