I am slowly getting my groove back and hoping to be spending a little more time writing again. I'm not sure if it's summer that has kept me away or If I'm just really lazy lately. I can tell you, I've not felt very inspired over the past month.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a "the glass is 1/2 empty" kind of thinker. I'm more of a "my glass is 1/2 empty, so someone better get me a new drink cause I'm almost done this one" kind of gal. However, it occured to me the other day, that I am slacking on alot of things within my life right now so here I am, one little step is still a step right?

My goals for now are to do my best to write at least once per week, it's important to keep the people happy... espicially those folks over at B.C. They are ruthless you know ;) They also make up 90% of my reading audience so I hope they see the joke in that! That's right, you go for that comment box, I dare ya ;)

I will also be starting a new job in the fall taking care of a disabled child, one who I know and adore very much. I'm really looking forward to this as it will allow me to grow as a person and see things through someone else's eyes for a change. And I can't think of anything negative about that whatsoever.

This week should be pretty interesting, I will start my day tomorrow with a visit to a friend who is a professional drag queen and one of the sweetest guys/gals I know .. as long as he isn't trying to stick those damn false lashes on me, we have a wonderful time together.

After that, which could be "hours" later... I am going to go and look at new beds. I've been sleeping on the same mattress for about 3 years now and getting out of bed in the morning is not a joy for me anymore. I look like an old woman with a stick up her arse. and please, I don't want any "granny hate mail" for making that comment. It's just a fact, and if you saw me doing this, you'd most likely agree with me.

Friday, I get to go shopping, I'm so thrilled, I can barely stand it (please note the severe sarcasm here). Grocery shopping for me is what I imagine the 7th level of hell to resemble... Isle's upon isle's of frustration, screaming, rudeness and some of the worst characters in history to contend with.

I just want to go in there and buy some frikkin fruit but no no, I must walk the gauntlet instead. Handing Satan my atm card at the end of the tour and paying him, like this was a fun experience for me. Maybe I should get myself an errand boy! :<)

As for my weekend, I am not going to make any plans and just go with the flow instead. Hopefully by then, I've had an interesting enough week that I can come back here and share a good story or two with you.

I suppose that's it for now, I'll see you all soon ;)

Bettie

I've been in a box under the stairs ..

Hey all, my sincere apologies to those of you that have stopped by to see that I've posted nothing in weeks. This last month has been a busy one for me. I'm working a little more than originally anticipated (which of course is a bonus)and spending a little less time near the computer. I figure it's summer and around here, we don't get alot of it so I best take advantage while I can.

I also celebrated a birthday this past weekend and had an absolute blast while out with some friends.. Don't ever let someone convince you that a woman cannot drink her share of coolers, beer & whiskey! lol ugh ...

I also decided that this year I would not be turning 36 but reversing my age back to 27. I figure I've earned it and going back a few ...ok, several years really wouldn't be something anyone would scoff about, at least not to my face anyway ;)

Not too sure what to do with my week yet though, were suppose to get rained on all week, nothing but storms so I may find myself here, posting alot more than I have been .. a blessing in disguise perhaps?

That's it for now, figured I would explain my lack of attendance and thank you guys for stopping by with the hopes that I posted something, anything ...

Hope everyone has a lovely day,

Bettie

Summer Is Finally Here!

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 141px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkd_gv2bsIYujraFwxhHzEAdLhUfL3_v22fN8TPhjvsZQVxiu5iOnoEyiAZP8ndOpBQ7O5PAoXPAIGBfKeqyk_OdcfHEv-pLwyOTw2vlP-V7i4HFcdB3f4cB_ytY0ItGUPu6nPr1Iih_iD/s200/summer.bmp" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5350284869827958706" />
Hi everyone, it's been about a week since I posted last so I figured I better get my butt in here and write something. I have recently taken a part time job out in the "real world" which is my excuse for not writing as much as I should be :)

It's great to get out and be more active, espicially with the nice warm weather we've been having. Though at this point, it's only a few days a week. I am also entertaining the idea of looking into school again... Not too sure what direction I would like to head in quite yet but that will be determined with a bit of research I suppose.

Other than that, not much is new in the land of Bettie, unfortunately there have been no funny mishaps or wacky adventures for me to tell you about. Which really, is a bit dull as there's usually something going on around here! Boooooring lol ... ah well, maybe I should count my blessings that life is "normal" for a change and just go with the flow of things!

I'll catch up with you all later on this week ;)

Bettie

How Selfish Can You Be???

I was in a message board group that I frequent quite a bit and came across a thread that showed a link to a story that simply blew me out of the water. There is a woman out there in the blogging community that should be hanging her head in utter shame for what she has done.

Beccah Beushausen, a 26-year-old social worker from the Chicago area created a blog about being an expectant mother of a terminally ill baby. From what I gather from this article she kept this horrific lie up as long as possible because she recevied so much sympathy from her readers. By the end of it all she had managed to gain one million hits on her blog from people supporting her and coming to read all the new entries about her "terrible situtation".

She claims that she was getting 100,000 hits per week and this somehow justified her continuing on with this outragious and extremely sickening and selfish game she was playing. As a blogger, I too understand the importance of organic traffic but my god .. what a way to obtain stats!

I am truly outraged by this story and deeply disappointed that someone would go this far to obtain popularity within the blogging community. I would like to say to you Beccah, in case you ever come across my blog that you are a disappointment to the human race and should hang your head in utter shame for what you have done ..

Even more shocking, is the fact that this woman is a social worker! She spends her days listening, consolling and helping those in emotional distress learn to be happier, healthier and live better lives .. I truly hope this woman looses her position as a social worker and has her liscense revoked.

Shame on you ....

If your interested in reading her story you can find the link below.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,526037,00.html

The Szechewan Conspiracy

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 121px; height: 101px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbIaLPpZz9l6M7bmLNBtxaz61F9lly1KT81-41Wq2aN-rls640QxD0UW1dZiamahDkKvGOkMea4Hj3PLeN0-JIck5mQ4L52vdoJLko4yAi5WErXCUbrjlBIvZj5xtv2oOCxzZrGxPtEQ6C/s200/huh.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5342265625792966802" />
Last night I get this wicked craving for some Chinese food. I'm not in the mood to cook but certainly want a good meal. I've also decided that I'll try a new restaurant for a change. So off I go to grab the phone book. Our version of the Yellow Pages is about 1/2 a foot thick so you can just imagine the restaurant section.

About 10 pages in I stumble upon one place that seems to have a fairly good deal. It's a combo dinner for 2. 5 Items plus a little munchie plate so were good to go, I'm calling them up and placing my order. An hour and a 1/2 later our food arrives but we decide to wait a little longer before eating. I suppose another hour passes and we dig in.

I think I've made a terrible mistake people .. The dry ribs are enormous clumps of fat in batter, the Special Foo Young is nothing more than Egg Foo Young in a horrible disguise and the Szechewan Beef (my favourite dish) looks like earrings I wore back in the 80's.. Now here's where I must be honest, were a little buzzed so you know... it does look strange BUT .. we have the munchies dag nabbit and were going to chance it anyway!

I'm about 3 bites in to my food and realize that eating a shoe out of the gutter just might taste better than this monstrosity that entered my home in it's little plastic containers... which really, should have been my first clue. We discard our "dinner" and choose pepperoni sticks as our NEW main course.

This morning my partner and I agree that the food outright sucked and were going to call the restaurant up and let them know we were not happy with the order. What follows is a re-enactment of the phone call I had with the hostess that answered the phone ..

Her: good morning <insert "crappy chinese food" here> how can I help you?

Me: Hi there, we ordered some food from you last night and would like to discuss our order.

Her: what is the problem?

Me: Well we ordered the combo dinner for 2 and to be honest, it was not at all what we expected.

Her: Are you a new customer?

Me: Yes this is our first order with you but why does that matter?

Her: Well, if you've never been here before you may not know how we make our food. It's very different from alot of other restaurants in the city.

Me: Does that mean everyone else uses meat except your establishment?

Her: We have over 100 customers a day you know ..

Me: So .. none of them got meat either then?

Her: You have no meat? Where did your meat go?

Me: Ok, one of the things I ordered was Szechewan Beef, but there was no beef in it, it was all batter with nothing inside.

Her: Well, the beef shrinks when we cook it.

Me: What do you cook it in, acid?

Her: Your new, you don't know how we cook it.

Me: Well, I know that everyone else cooks it with beef, hence the name Szechewan Beef. I also know that the dish you sent me, had none. It was not shrunken beef, it was invisible beef ...

Her: Ummmm

Me: We also ordered some Special Foo Young, to my understanding it's special because you add more to it. BBQ pork, chicken, shrimp, peas and onions. What you made for us was eggs with bean sprouts.

Her: The shrimp is just small and we only use a few pieces.

Me: So your telling me that I paid an extra 9.50 to get something missing most of the ingredients and the reason I cannot taste or see the shrimp is because it's small?

Her: yes, the shrimp is small, so it's harder to taste.

Me: Whether shrimp is small or not you can taste it .. it's SHRIMP!!

Her: Hold on I'll go ask the cook how many pieces of shrimp he put in your dish.

Me: The cook knows which foo young was mine from last night????

Her: I go to other places and the food is gross, I just don't go back. Make a cross on our ad and just don't order from us anymore.

Me: So I'm getting no compensation for this meal is what your telling me?

Her: If you were not a new customer, you would have known how we cook our food.

Me: I would never become a customer after such sh#tty service and excuse making.

Her: Ok, my phone is ringing.

Me: Wonderful .. let's hope they don't order anything with shrimp or beef in it.

Her: Ok, thank you, call again!

So there you have it, $40.00 dollars and a minor meltdown later my Szechewan fiasco comes to and end.. I'm still hungry, still quite irritated and the only thing in my house right now is a box of pizza pops because I said screw it to shopping today and dealing with any form of customer service...

I think I just may need another drink!

Comments, Comments, Comments

Hi all, it has just been brought to my attention that my comments section is not working. Last Monday I call my doctor, you know the one who deals with "lady issues". And I explain to her receptionist who sounds like she's 12 that my *cough* pills are almost done and I need a refill by the following Monday.

I am told this won't be an issue and the script will be faxed to my pharmacy within 2 days. Day two rolls around and I call to check on my order ... nothing. Hmmm, this is odd, did she go golfing and forget me... maybe she got caught in a stir up and no one can hear her cries for help? It's a mystery so far ... so, I call back and ask what's going on. i'm told she is dealing with it but busy. Fine, I still have some time, no big deal.

It's now Monday morning and I call to check once again. Still no script sitting at the pharmacy. Now, anyone who has ever been on the "lady pills" is well aware that there is a very specific schedule to be followed. I'm hoping my doctor knows this but I'm starting to really wonder. This is a simple 2 minute phone call, it will not take much of her time to get this dealt with for me.

You guessed it, now it's Tuesday and this time, her office phones me. The girl on the phone, the 12 year old is telling me very sternly that I need to come in the next day and have a sit down with the doctor. I kind of snap at this point and ask what the problem is. "It seems that Gyno Nazi, I mean Doctor %&@*$& has changed her mind and decided that she does not want me to have another pack of pills.

I am now two days off schedule at this point and my pills are being held hostage by some freak who feels it would be a great idea for me to have some more kids.. why not right, she has a playroom at her office! I proceed to ream out reception as my Dr is too chicken to get on the phone with me directly .. I tried to get her to understand that I wanted birth control, not heroin ..but to no avail.

Today I spent three hours waiting and tavelling to go see another doctor who gave me my script within 10 minutes of being at his office. I'm not sure what happened here but I feel like I was in a battle of the uterus's and I lost to the queen of all .... I'll just stop right there.

What is the world coming to when a person can go to a schoolyard at night and buy crack but it takes me a week to get birth control pills?? I warn you now ladies, watch out for your local Gyno Nazi, she is lurking somewhere, with a bucket of hidden pills just waiting to make your life hell.

It Must Be Monday

Hey guys, I figured I better get my butt in here and post something! I am currently working on a new blog about cooking, recipes and all things kitchen related. Cooking is one of my passions so I thought to myself .. why have I not blogged about this in more depth?

I have my new blog "This Food Tastes Funny" in the blog roll (right column) though it is pretty fresh right now. Today I've just been tweaking my layout, figuring out what goes where and adding all my widgets and other gizmo type bits. I probably should not have bothered publishing it as there are no recipes on any of the pages lol .. I tend to get ahead of myself at times but oh well, it's one less thing to do later on!

Feel free to check it out if you'd like, I will work on it some more over the next few days and get some content posted.

take care all,

Bettie

Pay Homage To Those Wonderful Gals ..

Mother's Day will soon be upon us so I felt it fitting to post a little something about it. I think the best gift I ever recieved on this day was from my oldest son. He was 5 at the time and in kindergarten. I remember picking him up after school that day and he came running out to me with a huge smile on his face. He handed me a card he had made for me and a broach. The card was rather sweet with a nice poem glued to one side and some artwork on the other .. The broach was a story all it's own. It seemed the class wanted to make jewelery but as typical 5 year olds, they did it with an interesting twist.

My son presented me with a very colorful piece of melted plastic with a pin fastened on the back. I'd say it is about the size of a tomato slice with every color imaginable swirling around the surface. From what I understand, they made thier jewelery then melted it in an oven to make jewelery goop. From there, they added a broach pin and let them harden lol ...

It is, without a doubt the most interesting piece I own and definetely my favourite as it was something that came from the heart of a 5 year old boy. It's been 7 years since I recieved that gift and it still sits in my jewelery box today.

You forgot to pay up!

So, I'm online today and reading my local paper. I get through the daily stories and decide I will check out a new category for a change. I click my way through to the "Odd News" section and what do I find? "Officials order man to pay 36 euro-cent debt "

Of course I am curious and a little floored by this title so off I go to read a bit more about it. It turns out that this man, who resides in Austria, sent in a bill payment of 236.00. He overlook the change owed for whatever reason and found himself in some hot water for it.

Apparently local court officals were so bothered by this that they sent a debt collector to his home to ensure the bill company got their 36 cents immediately. The funniest part of this story is that it cost the debt collector 5 euro's to make the trip. I have never been to Austria personally and it makes me wonder .. What kind of penalty would you get from the court if you stole a pack of gum? 10 years in prison I'm sure ..

I am an avid reader of The Onion and I have to say, this one tops some of the article's I've read over there. That reminds me... I should track down my old neighbour Susie Sunshine, I'm sure she still owes me a nickel for that gumball I bought her in grade 2...

The Weekend Cometh ...

Thank the gods for that .. I have had a very emotionally & mentally draining week so I do apologize for not being here to post & say hello to you all. But, as well all know, that wonderful thing called "real life" interupted me, came knocking at my door and unfortunately, I got up to answer....

I have spent so much time this week reflecting, disecting and running thoughts over and over in my head that the thought of actually vocalizing myself to another human really didn't seem like a good idea. Trust me, it was better this way for everyone ... Now I am processing, sorting and trying to file all of this new mind boggling info and hoping that within a few days I will be back to hitting the books or is that hitting the blogs?

Either or, I wanted to stop in, if even for a minute, and let you guys know that I see you stopping by and appreciate the fact you've shown more dedication to my blog this week than I have. So, thank you for that! I am going to take some time this weekend to let my brain go into a temporary stasis and attempt to have some fun. If I show up next time a bit hungover, don't look shocked, I'm Irish afterall, you should have known better .. hehe

Hope everyone has a nice weekend, I'll be back Monday!

Bettie

In Case You Were Wondering Why...

Hi all, as you can see, my blog has been hit by a hurricane lol ... I am doing some re-vamping to the page, making some color changes etc so just bear with me for a few days until I get everything where it should be! If you happen to see a different layout for the next few days, don't mind me .. I'm just trying to make up my mind on what looks & feels best!

Bettie

Added a Poll Section to my blog

Hi guys, I have decided to add a Poll to my blog. I've been working on a few new projects online and just got tied up with learning all the in's and out's. First off, I found myself at the doors of Squidoo .. they offer free, single page websites called Lenses. I spent some time getting to know the site and decided that making a lens or two would really help me network... You can file this under tips & tuts for the new blogger ;)

On top of that, I started my own shop @ CafePress called ExpressionX. Feel free to check it out and let me know what you think.. It won't be for everyone as it has a darker theme .. comically speaking that is, but I had alot of fun setting it up. Of course, there is only one page of products right now, but over the next week, I will be working on some original art/graphics that will get incorporated into my designs.... I'm kind of excited! doo doo dee dooo...

Before I forget, if you want to check out the lenses or my shop, you can find links to both in the left column. And as always, comments & suggestions are always welcome!

As for life in general, not much is new really .. Mother Nature decided that since it was nice and warm out, it was about time to throw one more snow storm at us ... Let's hope that pesky Yeti doesn't come back to visit me ... Well, it's 2:10 am and I am definetly ready for bed! So until next time ....

Take care and I will see you soon ;)

Bettie

Monday Madness and my Ramblings ...

Wow, what a busy day I've had! It started off rather slow today as I just didn't want to get out of bed to be quite truthful.... I actually greeted the rest of my house at about 1:00 pm today... I know, I'm lazy... but the extra rest was much needed!

I grabbed myself a tea and a ciggie in an attempt to wake up and was out the door in about an hour. So, all in all ... I made fairly good time. I headed downtown, sharing the sidewalk with everyone from the business man in his $3000.00 suit to the lady on the corner who talks to herself... I don't get what she's saying really, but from the expression on her face it's rather important. Never a dull day in downtown ....ahh, right, I am annonymous. You almost got me! ;)

After a few hours downtown, I made my way back home .. taking my time as it was a nice light, breezy day today. I end up at my landlords door as I have completely forgotten to do the most important thing on my list and ended up using her fax to finish the task! After that's taken care of, we sit and talk about vacation spots, relationships and a slew of other topics that one rarely speaks to her landlord about... But alas, she is a wonderful lady and you enjoy being around her when you see her... My kind of people for sure :<)

Realizing it was 5:00 pm I head downstairs to get dinner ready... We've decided that were going to brave the deer sausage (venison) that was given to us by some friends. Now, I have eaten this twice in my life. The first time it was like chewing on a rubber tire... my second meal of venison was quite good. Cooked with different spices & veggies as well as a homemade gravy to pour on top... yum yum! So, I figure it will turn out tasting like a rubber tire and I'll have to cut that guy a break from so many years ago or it will be yummy & juicy and my partner will not ask me what in the %$&# he's chewing on..

I am hoping for the latter of course. If all goes well and my experiment is a success, maybe I will post the recipe on here for anyone interested in trying something different. Well, dinner will be ready soon so for now I bid you guys goodbye. I may be back to post later on if the mood strikes! :<)

Bettie

Calling All Bloggers ...

I just wanted to talk about my latest venture and this is .. becoming a blogger. I have written in the past, whether it be journal entries, stories or poetry and rather enjoyed the time I put into it .. However, most of it was for my eyes only ... As of late I have felt the need to express myself to the world a bit more. Not the world around me but the internet community... This is not to say I am an anti-social person online, not by any means .. In fact, look at me now .. I've gone public ;)

So here I am.... at the gates of the blogger kingdom .. a magical place where people write to entertain, educate and amuse thousands of "screen people"... In my few weeks as a blogger I have rather enjoyed myself ... I've joined some fantastic communities and exchanged idea's with my fellow bloggers, learned some more html ... what a pain that is, but hey, it sure helps at times!

The feedback I have gotten as of late has been a major influence for me as well.... I appreciate the comments my reader's have taken the time to post. Whether it be a simple hello or advice from someone looking in from another angle.. Keep em coming, I find it inspiring! :<) My purpose for this post is twofold. I would like to say, that I am really glad I decided to give this a whirl and also ... I would like to thank my readers and fellow bloggers for supporting this new girl in her venture to be an online writer...

Bettie

In bed with my baseball bat...

Last night I'm getting ready for bed .. it's about 2:30 am and I've just finished my blogging activities for the evening. I do my usual rounds .. make sure the ashtray isn't on fire, turn the lights out, use the loo .. the normal routine.

So, there I am, all snuggled up in my big warm comforter and within about 10 minutes I can hear a few people outside and directly below my bedroom window. Now .. I certainly won't reveal where I live but it's very close to downtown, the concrete jungle as I like to call it. It's not a "terrible" neighbourhood but it's not the safest place for a woman to walk around at night all by her lonesome either... safety, safety, safety, I always say!

Right ... back to my story. So I'm in bed, listening to these two people yacking under my window when all of a sudden what do I hear? The female says to her friend ... " I wonder who lives in the apartment above us" Of course I sit up thinking, why is this faceless stranger in the dark inquiring about my place???

I leave the lights off and go to my window, can't see them as they are right up against our front door. Our building has magnectic locks on both the outside and foyer doors .. again better safe than sorry when you live in the "jungle".

Next thing I know, the male is saying to the girl .. "I bet it would be really easy to climb up there" as you can imagine ... I am getting a little worried. My other 1/2 is gone to work on a midnight shift and I am home alone ... just me and the bat that sits in my hallway lol ..

Now to set the scene a little more, we had a snowstorm and a rainstorm brewing outside... Mother Nature must have had herself a bad bad day. I suppose they were looking for cover but were unable to get into the building...

My wheels are spinning by this point... am I going to have to bonk some snow covered Yeti over the head when he decides to climb up to my window and hang from the sill?? Or do I just go open it now to make it easy on him and maybe put on a pot of tea to warm his burglarin' bones?

If he tries this idea out, what do I say to the operator when have to call 911? Hi there, my name is so and so and I live at %$#%&$ Street. Ummm, there is a Yeti on my windowsill and I am about to hit him out of the park with one of my trademark grand slam hits! Please send someone immediately!!

Of course, she/he will look at the other dispatchers in the room and make that "this caller is squirrely" face and before I know it, me, the VICTIM, will be hurled off to the booby hatch ... I mean really, we all know that Yeti's aren't real right? ;) That and the fact that I live in/near the jungle only further implies that I must be nuts!

Thankfully, the Yeti and his female companion decide to leave and work thier way down the snow covered streets .. no doubt to find a window much lower in height...

If I wanted to be featured on "Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom" I would just ring up Lorne Green and ask him to send me a ticket..

Bettie

Irish Recipes Part 3

Now that I have added some meals for you to make how about we look at some beverage choices to serve after your meal! Of course, my main objective as a writer is to supply my readers with what they want! I hope you enjoy what I have added here and please feel free to come back and let me know how these turn out when you make them!

IRISH POTATO FARLS

you will need the following:

1.25 lbs of Potatoes (4 potatoes)
2 Teaspoons of Melted Butter
1 Cup of Flour
Half Teaspoon of Salt
4 Teaspoons of Vegtable Oil

Peel and half the potatoes and boil in water for 20 minutes or so until soft. Drain and then add the butter and mash thoroughly. Add the flour and salt, mix together well. Divide the flour/potatoe mixture in half and put the first half on a lightly floured surface. Knead until flat - approx .25 inch thick. Divide into 4 sections/pieces. Repeat the process for the other half of the mixture.

Fry/Griddle using the oil for approx 2 minutes or until crispy brown on each side. Serve warm.

Yeilds 8 Farls

topping suggestions:

grated cheddar cheese
sour cream & chives and/or bacon bits (homemade being the best)
onions (lightly cooked, do not caramelize)

IRISH OMELETTE

you will need the following:

4 large eggs
1 large mashed potato
some lemon juice (to taste)
1 Tablespoon of Chives
Salt and Pepper
1 Tablespoon of Butter

Separate the eggs and beat the yolks. Add them to the mashed potato, mixing thoroughly, add the lemon juice, chives, and salt and pepper. Melt the butter in a pan. Whisk the egg whites until stiff and stir them into the potato mixture. Cook the mixture until golden brown and then place under the broiler (just enough to "puff" them up)

Serve immediately

Yeilds 2 servings (double recipie for 4 servings)

Traditional Irish Stew

you will need the following:

1 pound lean mutton pieces or high quality stewing beef
1 pound carrots (peeled & diced)
1 pound onions (peeled & diced)
1 pound potatoes (peeled & diced)
salt & pepper
pinch of thyme

Put the mutton/stewing beef & the thyme in a saucepan and add cold water (just enough to cover the meat). Slowly bring the mixture to a boil and simmer for one hour. Add onions, potatoes, carrots.. Season with salt and pepper. Continue cooking until vegetables are tender. Adjust seasoning if you prefer more zip.

This dish can be served alone or with cooked green cabbage or sprouts. Personally, I prefer to have the stew on it's own with some bread/buns on the side for dipping.

Yeilds 4 servings (double recipe and freeze some if you'd like)

Irish Pork Roast w/stuffing

you will need the following for the roast:

2 pounds of good quality pork tenderloin or lean pork chops
2 tablespoons of butter
2 tablespoons of apple cider or water if preferred
Pinch of salt and pepper to taste

Lightly salt and pepper the meat then coat it with the butter. Place in a dish and cover with foil. Bake at 350 Farenheit for 1 & 1/2 hours. Serve with the stuffing and fresh cooked vegtables.

you will need the following for the stuffing:

4.5 large potatoes, boiled or steamed and coarsely mashed (do not overcook)
butter (same amount you would use for regular mashed potatoes)
1 large onion
2 large cooking apples, chopped
a handful of chopped "fresh" sage & thyme (thyme can be powdered)
Salt and pepper to taste

Add the butter to the potato & mix well. Chop the onion & add it to the mixture. Stir in the apples, herbs salt and pepper (mix well)

Serve beside your roast

Yeilds 4 servings

Watch out world ... I am smokeless

I've been comtemplating whether or not I should do any posting tonight as I am out of cigarette's... I know, you non smokers are just going to tell me to suck it up right? Well that's exactly what I want... to suck me up a big ole ciggie ....

Of course, the smokers out there ... you understand what I am going through, you FEEL my pain, dontcha? Well maybe you don't since your probably lightin one up as your reading this... I'm looking at 9-10 hours before I see one of those precious sticks again and I'm not happy about it one little bit!

Maybe I should hide all the clocks in my house so that the time will "seem" to go by quicker... Of course, there is still that clock in my system tray, hmmm nothing a little white out won't fix! Do you see what's happening here ??!!?? I'm simply delirious ...

So I now have two choices ... sit here and suck it up or go and eat everything in the fridge and then explain to my better half when he comes home, why there is no food left in the house.. haha! Honey ... you remember that mouse I told you about that lives under our fridge?? He's the real culprit!! Honestly, I didn't do it, I was too busy curled up in the corner of the tub rocking myself into hysterics!

Oh, the shame ....

Idea's for the new blogger

I have compiled a modest list of things for the new blogger to post about. When I decided to start blogging I was stuck for idea’s big time! I ended up deciding that I could just write what was on my mind at the time...

Hence my title “BettieBlogger, conquering the world, one blog at a time” ©

Hopefully this helps new bloggers who are just stuck for words … some ideas/topics:

music
local news
the environment
causes you believe in
your pets
hometown
clothing designs
new technology
family & friends
events around the world
history
movies
reviews
wildlife
artwork
photography
food/recipes
poetry

The list goes on and on but this gives you an idea … if you can come up with an subject/topic to write about, there is someone out there who will want to read it. Of course, it will take some effort on your part to get together a nice looking blog as well as getting a reading audience but if you work at it, you’ll get there!

Good luck :<)

Exchanging links with your fellow blogger...

Hi all, during my research I have learned many valuable lessons … one in particular I would like to touch on is link exchange. The idea here is that you exchange links with by doing this, you both get “votes”.

Each time someone clicks on your link … you gain “more” PR (pagerank) status! The catch here is to only exchange links with those that have a popular site with good strong content included.

Does this make you a blogger snob? I don’t think so … as the idea is to increase PR not decrease it .. which is what happens when you link to sites with little to no content and a low PR ranking.

Please feel free to leave me a comment with your url and if all is well, we can exchange links and help promote each other. It’s a win win situation no matter how you cut it!

Information Overload ... yes please!

I have spent days now, learning the ropes here. I use to think that blogging was as simple as jotting down a few sentences and hitting your submit button … boy was I in for a suprise! I must say, I’ve rather enjoyed doing my homework…

By taking a few hours a day to do some serious reading/research I feel quite confident that I have armed myself with some of the best “be a great blogger” tips I could find. I am truly looking forward to watching my blog blossom into something that my readers will enjoy….blog blossom?? sounds like a widget doesn’t it?

Again, I would like to thank all of those who have taken the time to create help & FAQ pages for those of us out there that are/were & will be unsure of where to start as well as “really” understanding the key ingredients to becoming a successful blogger!

Cheers! :<)

Bettie’s a busy bee ..

It’s been about a week since I posted last … life has just been busy and hectic lately. I think I’ve attended more appointments in the past week than I have all year. When “they” say Spring brings new beginnings “they” aren’t kidding!

I started my spring cleaning earlier this week and it was an eye opener… who knew I was such a packrat! I easily tossed out 2-3 garbage bags of material crap. Old papers, articles, comics, pizza flyers lol .. you name it, I had it in my possession. Of course you’d never notice any of this stuff strewn about my house … It was all tightly packed away, this must have meant I was a packrat in denial? Oh the shame …

On a good note though, I did manage to donate another 2 bags worth of clothing to those in need as well as 3-4 medium bags of kids clothes, toys & stuffed animals… Maybe Karma will look graciously upon me for the next little while!

I have also found myself diving into some charity work as of late. I am doing my little part to help raise awareness for Muscular Dystrophy. Particularly, those affected by MTM/CNM. It is a cause I am personally affected by in a few ways and thought what better thing to do with some of my time!

I’ll be sure to post some info/links in case any of my readers are curious about these conditions and ways to help out. I am not looking for donations from you the reader .. just trying to help educate people about this condition as it is so rare…
