Last year I promised my self not to miss Miami Art Basel again. After 4 days of roadtripping down the east coast me and my wife finally arrived to Miami. First thing I walked into was The Wynwood Walls. One of the most impressive collection of walls I've ever seen. Amazing work by one of my all-time heroes Futura 2000, Retna, Roa etc.

I love the beach but I was in Miami to paint, so there was no time for chillin' on the beach. The weather was perfect and I had a great time painting. Big thanks goes out to Eser for organizing the wall above. See you next year Miami!

There´s no better place to say bye-bye to the summer than from a rooftop –the size of an entire block – in lower east side, Manhattan. This killerSaturday contained two of my favorite features: Graffiti & plenty ofsunshine.
This marked my third year painting on Rooftop Legends, and the walls were justas impressive as usual. Among my fave pieces were Doves, Knows, T-Kid &Ske, but it was the tributes to Kase 2 – who passed away recently – that touchedme the most.

A big shoutout to the man himself, Jesse for putting so much time andeffort into making Rooftop Legends happen.

Hope to see you again next year!

Rooftop Legends 2011

Rooftop Legends 2011 is a graffiti event presented by the New Design High School in the Lower East Side of New York City. The show takes place on the Schools open rooftop - the size of a full city block.

This years event takes place on Saturday Oct 8th between 2-7pm. Check out brand new work from artists like Rubin, Wane, Toolfly, Cope2, Indie, Slave, Keo, Cycle, Nicer, BG183, Dmote, Bio and many more.

DP ONE of the Heavy Hitters / Turntable Anihilists will be the RTL 2011 show DJ.

Rubin, Gouge & Jeks CAS - Sweden 2011

My first CAS productions with GOUGE and JEKS and my last piece before heading back to NYC after almost two months in Sweden. Gouge came up with the idea of doing a differen ind of Western theme. A Sheriff buried in chains among skulls and snakes with the cross going through his head!

If you also take a closer look to my work in Sweden this summer, you'll notice they all have one thing in common. I managed to stick to my own promise of having a grey background on every single piece. Maybe a little bit boring but I like routines, less thinking and much easier :)

We also borrowed some lyrics from the Black Sabbath song "Dirty Women" from the very underated album "Techinal Ectasy".

The sleepy city is dreaming the night away....

Rubin & Gouge - Sweden 2011

Took the early morning train to Uddevalla to meet up with my man GOUGE from Stockholm. The theme this time was orange. A lot of orange!

I also tried to freestyle and improvise more because that's something I really haven't been doing since like 1993.....

I also borrowed a line from the zero tolerance policy in my former hometown Göteborg:

"Klotter och annan skadegörelse som inte åtgärdas, kan leda till otrygghet!"

Translated to English it goes something like: "Graffiti and other types of vandalism which is not corrected, could lead to insecurity!"

Graffiti Mariestad Group Exhibition

In the summer of 2010 more than 600 artists from around the world participated in Graffiti Mariestad, which became one of the biggest graffiti murals in the world.

Visit Stadslaboratoriet at Konsthallen in Mariestad to view prints, photos, videos etc. from Graffiti Mariestad. Stadslaboratoriet is curated by Anna Viola Hallberg.

Opening hours: Wednesdays-Sundays 12PM-8PM.
The exhibition runs until Sep 5th, 2011.

Wall Talks Festival in Sabadell

Rubin - Sweden Rock Festival 2011

Spent a few days at Sweden Rock Festival painting a huge trailer at the festival site.
My main focus nowadays are on the letters and the style, but I used to do a lot of characters in the nineties. The headliners at the festival were Ozzy Osbourne and Judas Priest, so I decided to include them both. It was fun painting characters again and I might do more in the future but my focus will remain on the style which has always been the most important thing for me.

Painted at the annual reopening party at 5 Pointz. The day started a little bit rough because I forgot my bucket paint at the subway and I spent an hour and a half waiting for the train to come back but the paint was gone. Big thanks to Semor & Pesk for two busy days of painting.

Rubin & Dasic - Austin TX 2011

I finally made it to Austin and SXSW. Great weather, good music, a lot of beer and fantastic people. Also a lot of writers from all over, most of whom also visited Clogged Caps in San Antonio, where I also painted.

Rubin & Sen2 - The Bronx

I usually plan my paintings pretty well but lately I've been trying to be more loose and just go with the flow, especially when it comes to the color scheme. I also try to be more flexible when it comes to the outlines and adjust them to the shape off the wall and this piece is a perfect example off all above. Another aspect is not to forget to have fun while doing it, which for me is the most important thing.
