They treated them like humans too and provided them everything to suffice their needs. If you have dogs with you, an ideal thing to ensure of their security is by providing them with dog houses.

Houses for dogs come in a variety of sizes and styles. It is also made of materials like wood and plastic. However, if you plan for a purchase make sure that it serves its purpose and your needs. Purchasing for an extra large house is a good idea. This makes it enough to let your pet enjoy the place while relaxing. However, there are a lot of things needed to consider when choosing for a perfect dog house.
The first thing to consider is that it should provide comfort to your pet and would protect them from the exposure of too much. Regarding this, you have to consider the temperature of your place and surrounding.
Choose the one that is durable and heavy. Plastic dog house is a good choice too for it is waterproof but makes it sure that it can withstand the strong wind and the changing seasons. Heavy dog houses avoid these things from happening. Hold on to the purpose of providing your dog a house. It should make your dog feel secured and comfortable enough. It is not necessary to decide straightforwardly on purchasing an extra house for your little pet. Consider the size of your pet before deciding and purchasing. Remember that dogs enjoy curling up in small areas, so larger places are not necessary if you have a small pet.
Above all, be sure that you are in a reliable and trustworthy shop. Do not risk your dog in just purchasing something that would not suite the needs of your beloved dogs. Let him enjoy the place, be relaxed and be secured.
The Author is an expert in article writing and has done a lot of research online and offline. There are several underlying factors that make them a life threatening situation, especially if your dogs has an extensive case of anemia as a result, an electrolyte imbalance, or is seriously dehydrated. Infections are also extremely dangerous with burns, but if your dog develops Sepsis, they may have very little chance of surviving.

Sepsis can very easily affect both very young as well as very old dogs, as well as dogs with a compromised immune system. It is a very serious medical condition where your dogs entire body is in an inflammatory state as a result of an infection because of the burn.

Your dogs skin is the single largest organ in their body and a burn that affects as small as fifteen percent of their body can be extremely dangerous. Thermal burns in dogs can be caused by several everyday accidents that are waiting to happen if you are not careful. Your dog may be burned by getting too much sun, walking on extremely hot pavement, or simply getting to close to the barbecue, especially when you are lighting it.

Hot liquids that may be spilled, hot metal surfaces that they may come into contact with, as well as heating pads and heating lamps are also sources that may burn your dog. Radiation from radiator heat, hair dyers that may be used to dry your dog, as well as scalding water are also other potential threats.

Symptoms:

Burns in your dog, when they do occur, may happen without your knowledge or you actually witnessing the accident. However, there are some very telling symptoms that you can watch for that your dog has suffered a burn. The first symptom will be a very sudden mass of hair that is missing for no reason at all. If this does happen, treat it very seriously and look at the area in extreme detail.

Immediately after your dog has been burned, their skin will develop leather like appearances or the surface of the skin will be almost white. Once this occurs, the next symptom that you will see is red or exposed skin.

If you see any of these signs it is a very serious development. However, if you see blisters forming or blisters that have already developed, it may now be a life threatening situation. Once blisters form, infections can very easily follow, but this also opens the door wide open for your dog developing Sepsis.

Types of burns:

Burns in dogs are classified entirely different than they are in humans, as they are not classified as first degree, second degree, etc. With dogs, burns are classified by the depth and thickness as well as the extent of the injury as a result of the burn.

The first form of burns in dogs is classified as superficial partial thickness burns. These would be classified as first degree burns in humans, and with this type of burn only the top layer of your dogs skin has been damaged. With this form, the hair may still be attached to the skin, appear red in color, but there will be no sign of blisters. However, it will cause pain as well as swelling,

The next form is more serious and is referred to deep partial thickness burns and this form of burn is relative to a second degree burn. With this form, your dogs surface layer as well as some of their deeper layers of skin has been damaged. This is perhaps the most dangerous of the forms simply because it may not be treated by owners as being as serious as it really is.

Second degree burns in humans are almost always associated with the development of blisters, but with dogs, blisters will very seldom occur. However, it has penetrated some of the inner layers and even without the blisters; it can cause infections to develop very quickly. With this form, the hair is usually gone, the skin will be red, and you will see some of the inner layers of skin as well as swelling. Your dog will also be in a lot of pain.

Owners should never treat this form of burn lightly as it may become catastrophic for your dog as infection is starting to set in, you just can not see it.

The final form of burns in dogs is referred to as full thickness burns and this is the most serious and is relative to a third degree burn in humans. This form of burn extends through all layers of your dogs skin, they will start to lose some of their skin, and they will develop blisters. There will also be swelling, however, something very odd occurs with this form; your dog will not be in a lot of pain simply because they may be going into shock.

Treatments:

The form of treatment for burns in dogs will all depend on the thickness of the injury. But with all forms there is one commonality that is critical; you must cool the burn as quickly as possible. There are several homeopathic remedies for scratches, abrasions, and other injuries in dogs, but this is a burn, not a scratch.

The only initial treatment from an owner should be with cool water only. Do not use ice, as this can result in lowering their body temperature and may even cause frostbite.

Only use cool water and very slowly cool the area for forty to sixty minutes or until you can seek professional care. Any other type of remedy may intensify the situation. If the burn is superficial partial thickness only, it can be treated very quickly by your veterinarian with iodine and than topical creams. Most of these burns will heal within a few days.

If the burn is deep partial thickness, your dog will need to be hospitalized and will usually be given intravenous feeding as well as electrolytes to provide hydration. If your dog has a full thickness burn and over fifteen percent of their body is affected, they will require extensive hospitalization, as well as potential skin grafting. With this form of burn, you may have a very difficult decision to make as it will be very expensive to save your dog, if they can be saved.

Summary:

Burns in dogs will also require your dog to have additional nutritional support to help sustain a higher metabolic rate which will help the healing process. Pain medications will also play a very important role as your dog will be experiencing a lot of pain. Morphine is often used but as well as steroids help in some situations, they should be totally avoided with burns because of the potential of immune reactions.

There is one thing that is critical in dealing with a burn in your dog. Home remedies and natural forms of treatments have tremendous benefits in several situations, but this is not one of them. Only use cool water on your dog, do not use ice or butter in the early forms of treatment. After that, leave the treatment in the hands of professionals as this is one of the most serious situations your dog could ever face.

I am an avid lover of pets and my wife and I have had several pets throughout our years. We are especially fond of dogs, and we have a 12 year old Dalmatian (our 3rd) and a "mutt" that we rescued when someone threw him away to die in a vacant field.
<p style=" Developing interaction among animals and other living things is natural to us and little did we know that sometimes these pets can become infectious disease carrier to our lives. Any animals can be a carrier of ringworm cat, dogs and even humans can contract this infectious disease.
Ring worm is a fungus that can pass through one animal to another, animal to person and from person to person encounter. It is possible also animals can get fungal infection from soil. When there is direct contact among your pets and one has the fungus most likely other animals siblings can get it as well. Ring worm in cats normally appears as round lesions with scaly skin at the center. They are most commonly found on the head, ears and tail of your cat. There is thinning for some portions of your cats hair and sometimes they can go bald for a long time if this infection is not treated promptly. This kind of fungal infection can become chronic meaning it can heal and disappear and after some time the infection can go back if not properly treated and prevented.
An infection like this can be considered as autoimmune disease because not all may be affected it will still be depending on how strong your immune system is, how clean and neat you are and the total cleanliness of the house matters also. First it will just start from your cat if go unnoticed and untreated the entire house can be infected as well.
There are effective treatment options for fungal infection such anti fungal creams and lotion but it has to be applied daily. The extent of the medication is depending on the severity of the infection. With small, isolated lesions your veterinarian can prescribe anti fungal cream but for more severe case of ring worm a prescribed oral medicine could be enough to cure the itchiness. Your doctor might even prescribe for a lime sulfur dip. Anti fungal shampoo is often regarded as the most effective way to treat ring worm in cats because at one application only the whole body of your pet cat is almost covered. While all these suggested treatments can really help you prevent further lesions unto your pets the other major part would be the willingness on your part as pet owner to administer the prescribed treatment unto them.
Ring worm can spread as easily and as fast as it could to the whole body of your cat and to the whole premises of your house as well. Therefore it is proper to take the necessary actions to stop further infection to spread more. These are actually routine cleaning functions that you have to follow while inside the house. Check on all garments, bedding, fabric and other types of materials like gym mat. Be diligent about washing all the garments and things that your cat came in contact to. Wash them all with clean water and bleach. Cover your furniture with removable sheet or fabric and change it as often as possible. This is to ensure that infection will not accumulate faster on the area where your cat is staying. In case your cat sleeps in a bed if possible wash its bed with clean water and bleach and change it as often as required. Make sure also to do cleaning on your own garment and bedding as well. Wash them with water and bleach and treat other pets present at home even if they showed no signs of the infection. Continue treating your cat until such time that they are declared ring worm free by your doctor as per results of laboratory tests.
Ring worm in cats can be prevented to accumulate further by being persevering in treatment application. This fungal infection can become a serious health condition for your pets and you as well if not treated at once. Bring your pets to your veterinarian for some appropriate diagnosis and treatments. However, it is necessary to teach your dog how to control his biting or it can quickly and easily turn into a serious problem. To stop a biting dog you must first know why he bites.
If your dog has a biting problem then he might be stressed out. Stressful situations are usually the cause for dog biting. Little or no obedience is also one of the things that can lead to biting problems. If your dog doesn't have the proper training he will become unpredictable and begin biting.
Another cause of dog biting problems is not enough socializing. If your dog has not been introduced to different situations he can develop fears which will lead to a biting problem.
Medical conditions is another huge cause of this problem. If your dog is in pain then there is a high chance that he just wants to be left alone.
A dog that doesn't want to be bothered will usually bite if you get too close. Moreover, if a dog is having trouble seeing or hearing he is more likely to bite if you surprise him.
One technique you can do to stop a biting dog is handle it the way your dog's mother would. When a pup bites his mother too hard the mother dog would leave the area, which will make the pup think about his actions.
So when you're playing with your dog and he bites you too hard make a loud noise that lets him know you are hurt. If your dog still doesn't get the message that he needs to control his biting, you should abruptly leave the room without looking back and shut the door behind you.
Another thing you can do to stop a biting dog is get a few chew toys. You can also get chew toys that have a treat inside of them, which should keep our dog's attention for long periods of time.
As soon as your dog realizes there is more to benefit from biting his favorite chew toy, he will stop biting on you or your furniture. Learning how to stop a biting dog is the key to having a healthy relationship with your four legged companion.
Tired of your dog's behavior problems but don't know what to do? If someone can bring a pail of water to dash on the fighters, or better still, douse them with a water hose, that is probably the easiest way.
One dog is usually the attacker. If he can be grabbed by the tail and pulled hard, he will turn around to see what is happening and thus lose his hold. Or, if you can get assistance, have this person grab and pull on the hind legs of one dog while you do the same with your dog, thus separating them. To prevent the dog being able to turn and bite you, hold him as high off the ground as possible until he cools down.
There are any number of tricks that will surprise battling dogs into breaking apart, such as throwing pepper in their faces or holding a lighted match near the nostrils. But at any rate don't yell; the dogs probably won't hear you and if they do may think you are egging them on. If the dogs are males and you have no assistance, try to get them into a position where you can pinch the testicles. That usually takes the fight out of them for the moment.
When the fight is stopped and you grab your dog, have a helper ready to shield you. The still infuriated attacker will try to reach your dog and may strike you.
The nosy dog that bothers your dog when you go out to walk is often a cause for great annoyance. Your dog is on leash, the other dog is not so you have a difficult time snubbing him. He may not be a fighter, perhaps he merely wants to sniff your dog and follow along after the two of you. Carry a water pistol in your pocket. A squirt or two in the face will dampen his enthusiasm.
When a dogs behaviour is agressive and out of controll then it is time for you to take control and fast http://www.yourcatmydog.com/dogtraining.php
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Kathy_Davison

First Aid For Dogs - What You Must Do (By Roy Dickinson )

What you need to know about Dog First Aid
One thing dog owners hope they will never need is a first aid kit for a dog. If anything ever does happen to your dog remember do not panic, assess the situation carefully and try to ascertain how serious the injury might be.
A quick and speedy response is then needed if the injury appears serious. Your objectives are to preserve life, prevent or ease suffering and stop the situation getting worse. With these points in mind you need to:
Make sure there are no further dangers to you and the dog. Do not try to treat a dog in the middle of the road, you should move to somewhere safer.
Check responses from the dog. Can it move, does it respond if you touch it, can the eyes open and close?
Check the airways - is there a blockage in the throat. Is the tongue blocking the passageway, if yes try to unblock the airway.
Can you feel or see the dog is breathing? Artificial respiration will be necessary if you can not see it is breathing.
Can you check the pulse and gums to find out if blood is circulating. CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation) will be needed if no evidence of blood circulating.
These points, in dogs and for that matter any animal, are commonly known as DR ABC.
D Danger
R Response
A Airway
B Breathing
C Circulation
With speed being of the essence, you need to get a seriously injured dog to the vet as quickly as possible.
Minor incidents, you should be able to deal with yourself with a suitable dog first aid kit. These incidents could include such things as bites, stings and small wounds. Example: When calling your dog's name at the park, Buck may sound like F?!%. I don't want to see parents covering their children's ears. Calling Margarita at 5 pm every night may sound like you have a drinking problem. Does the name sound like a command that may confuse your dog?
I want a name everyone in my family is happy with. Naming a hunting dog Daisy Mae may get your husband teased while hunting with his buddies. If you decide on a name that one member of your family doesn't like, a nickname can be used.
A dog doesn't care what you call it. It cares that you want to call it to you and get a friendly pat. If you say come here door in the same tone as you would when calling its regular name, your dog will come.
I like a name that makes me smile when calling my pooch. I enjoy names that make others happy and not disgusted hearing the name. Baby name books are a great place to start. Favorite characters in books, movies, TV shows, radio shows, past friends or relatives.
I have chosen names like Leopold, nicknamed Leo for a hunting dog who was named after a popular gun scope brand. I like story book characters like Rapunzel I picked for a Shih Tzu dog with beautiful hair. I have named animals after spices, ginger, cinnamon and pepper. I had a cockatiel with two orange circles on her cheeks and named her Pumpkin Cheeks. Her nickname was Pumpkin or PC for short.
There is no rule saying you can't use the same name again and again. Simply add a title after the name, the second or third. Use the title on their registration, vet records and such.
Ardy is the author of Ardy's Professional Tips for Companion Dogs. The eBook can be brought at her website. Mazaru)

Can you select the right type of diet for your canine companion without adequate dog food information? You simply cannot, because doing so, would jeopardize your pet's health.
The need for proper information is even greater nowadays because of the numerous dog food brands which have flooded the market. Shopping can be really tough if you are not sure what you want. So, the key is to know what you are looking for.
Consider the following bits of information and you will find it really easy to select the best brand.
The main source of protein is a vital consideration while purchasing commercial dog brands. Try to go for sources such as beef fat, chicken fat or lamb meal. If the label says that the product contains generic ingredients such as 'meat meal' or 'animal fat', you can easily give it a miss! Though generic sources of protein are not bad, why choose them if you can get better?
Since the main component of dog food is meat, try to go for the ones consisting of human-grade meat. Though laws do not require products to contain human-grade meat, choosing products containing such meat is not a very bad idea either. It is even better if you can look for products containing meat which is free from hormones and antibiotics.
Avoid products containing corn or wheat gluten meals. Without doubt, there cannot be worse dog food than products containing these ingredients.
Animal by-products should also be avoided if you want the best food for your dog.
Buy products which do not contain artificial colors or sweeteners such as corn syrup, sucrose or propylene glycol.
If you want the best food for your dog, keep this information in mind when you make the next purchase!
NaturalDogFoodsReview.com is an online resource where you can find dog food information, resources, and more on several different kinds of natural dog foods. Conventional medications, such as the type you would get with a prescription from a veterinarian are known as specific or base therapies. These target specific diseases. Supplements are known as supportive therapies. They contain ingredients that are selected based on a whole body view of a particular ailment. While in most cases they are not a cure, they are designed to help prevent disease, reduce the impact of symptoms associated with a disease, or help the body fight a disease.
In this spirit, high quality herbal supplements are designed to boost a cat's immune system and sustain good health and longevity. They have an additional benefit in that most cats tolerate supplements well as opposed to conventional medications that often, but not always, have side effects.
A large number of cat health supplements on the market today are not nearly as good as most people think. They contain artificial preservatives, gluten, and other substances which can lower the efficacy of the herbs used in the supplements and cause a lot of side effects. So, you cannot afford to pick a pet health product randomly. This is something you need to keep in mind while looking for a health supplement for your cat.
I am someone who truly believes that prevention is better than cure. Go for herbal health supplements since they are completely natural and very effective. The supplements to look for contain a combination of various herbs and medicinal plants like Huang Qi, mistletoe, milk thistle, and echinacea purpurea.
One of the main reasons why pet cats start developing various health problems is that they do not have access to certain herbs that their counterparts in the wild often eat to cleanse their system. Unlike people, cat's rely on one food for all of their nutritional needs. This food needs to have the right balance of up to 40 food components. This is one of the main reasons why cat health supplements that contain the herbs mentioned above can be helpful. These herbs eliminate the wastes and cleanse my cat's system thoroughly. This can possibly prevent wide range of health problems that commonly affect pet cats and they may be under represented in the commercial food you purchase.
Herbs like Huang Qi and echinacea purpurea are known for their ability to boost the immune system of pet cats. Milk thistle is a powerful antioxidant which prevents the damage caused by harmful free radicals. Mistletoe keeps blood pressure levels and blood sugar levels under control. The best thing about cat supplements that contain these herbs is that they do not cause any side effects. So, they are completely safe irrespective of your pet cat's size or age.
Supplements are only part of cat care. Making sure your cat eats an approved AAFCO diet, exercise (both physical and mental) and even dental care are important components of care. Even making sure your cat has clean water to drink at all times, and a clean litter box can help maintain urinary health.
Jeff Grill is an editor of the Cat Health Guide, which has disease specific recommendations for cat supplements. However, giving him frozen rawhide bones is a wonderful way to begin breaking this habit. Pet training classes offered in your home in one-hour sessions, OR group sessions with a (4) dog maximum. Typically, a five-session dog training class will make instant changes in your dogs behavior.
Training a is not a breeze, however, and can be harder than you might expect. Many people think that training is nothing more than providing toys or shouting commands, which the dog will instantly understand and obey. Training opens up many lines of communication and trust between you and your pet. This communication is necessary to instruct your dog about what you want them to do at all times.
Pet owners recognize when their pet is jealous when they smell other scents on your clothes. Animals have personalities as well as emotion. They love fresh flowing water! Ultra-quiet purifying pet fountain for multiple cat households or small dogs, provides naturally cool and oxygenated water. Pet dogs, particularly, can suffer a similar psychological stress while left alone in the house or back garden.
Ever tried getting in the door with a bag of groceries. Teaching them to get out of the way. For example, if your spouse is walking in with some groceries your dog will be out from under their feet. Showing your pet to stay where he is, even if interesting, exciting things are happening elsewhere, is very important to all aspects of training. In the world of professional pet training, this is sometimes referred to as distraction training. Teach them to do what Benji does in the movies!
Even though it may seem hard,it can also be a relaxing and fun thing for both owner and pet.
So don't let that stop you, start now by getting in some quality time with your pet.
