• Direct the preparation of financial reports, such as income statements, balance sheets, and analyses of future earnings or expenses, that summarize and forecast the organization’s financial position.&lt;br /&gt;
• Oversee the investment of funds, manage associated risks, supervise cash management activities, execute capital-raising strategies to support a firm’s expansion, and deal with mergers and acquisitions.&lt;br /&gt;
• Oversee the firm’s issuance of credit, establishing credit-rating criteria, determining credit ceilings, and monitoring the collections of past-due accounts.&lt;br /&gt;
• Responsible for providing financial advice and support to clients and colleagues to enable them to make sound business decisions.&lt;br /&gt;

Background of the candidate:&lt;br /&gt;

Experience in emergency work is essential, in addition humanitarian and co-ordination skills highly desirable&lt;br /&gt;

Fluency in English and Somali a must while knowledge of French is an added advantage&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
High level of computer literacy with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite&lt;br /&gt;

Experience in a similar position (at least 5 years experience with at least two years of experience outside Somalia)&lt;br /&gt;

Providing strategic guidance to UIA in developing and growing the insurance market in Uganda, Comesa region and internationally. &lt;br /&gt;
Carry out advocacy activities for the Insurance Industry with Government and beyond so as to create an enabling environment for its members. &lt;br /&gt;
To develop UIA as a centre of insurance excellence in Uganda, the region and beyond. &lt;br /&gt;
To develop Proposals for revenue generation and business expansion. &lt;br /&gt;
To plan the procurement, monitor and supervise the sales of 3rd party stickers and Comesa Yellow Card. &lt;br /&gt;
Develop strategic partnerships with regional and international organisations' that would create synergies for UIA members. &lt;br /&gt;
Identify and interact with spectrum of audience and policy making bodies. &lt;br /&gt;
Develop, recommend and implement policies, plans budgets and management information and control systems designed to achieve the Association's objectives and priorities as may be specified by the Board. &lt;br /&gt;
Supervise and manage Secretariat staff in the implementation of priority activities configured to achieve the objectives of the Association as set by the Board in annual programmes and budgets. &lt;br /&gt;
Supervise the efficient and effective delivery / provision of all support services and facilities required for the proper running of the Secretariat and the Board. &lt;br /&gt;
Organise and prepare for general meetings, Board meetings, Seminars and workshops and follow up and implementation of decisions and resolutions taken thereof.&lt;br /&gt;
Person Specifications:&lt;br /&gt;

Minimum Qualifications: - Masters Degree from a recognised University in Insurance Management or Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, Mass Communication or Development Studies.&lt;br /&gt;

Experience:- A minimum of 8 years experience with 3-5 in a Senior managerial position in a reputable insurance business firm or similar umbrella trade organisation in the private sector. Technical and professional qualifications in insurance are an added advantage.&lt;br /&gt;

Duration of appointment: 3 year renewable contract.&lt;br /&gt;

Its mission is to help entrepreneurial men and women in poor rural areas of the developing world to build businesses that create income, opportunity and economic growth for their families, communities and countries.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
TechnoServe has just launched a four year East Africa Coffee Initiative funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
This initiative will focus on helping approximately 180,000 small-holders improve their incomes by improving the quality of the coffee they produce, increasing its production and linking it to markets.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Primary Purpose and Function&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
# Coordinate coffee regional services, Credit, Audit and Governance, IT and Procurement to support country coffee programs&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
# Provide back-stopping support to the regional deputy Director and country coffee programs as needed.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
# Build the coffee regional services team and office to execute the regional support activities&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
# Responsible for day-to-day leadership and management of the coffee regional services in accordance with TechnoServe's&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Managerial Guidelines&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Duties and Responsibilities&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
# Develop, present and implement work plans and objectives of the regional coffee services to be approved by the Project Director.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
# Develop the annual implementation plan for the regional coffee services. The RSM is to ensure that all regional coffee services are in accord with TechnoServe's corporate strategy.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
# Develop, lead and manage the regional coffee services on a day-to-day basis, including developing work plans; managing regional services performance, monitoring and evaluation, quality and cost-effectiveness control, and, developing and managing knowledge.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
# Manage and optimize supplier performance, including continuous improvement, innovations, obsolescence and reduction in total cost of ownership&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
# Create and maintain mutually beneficial long-term partnerships with suppliers to foster feedback and continuous improvement&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
# Coordinate regional activities including:Procurement of pulping machines, cupping lab equipment and other program assets.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
# Build effective FBG audit committee structure to rollout across the region.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
# Identify strategic credit opportunities to develop sustainable finance solutions for TNS clients&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
# Ensure credit services are available for all TNS clients in a timely manner.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
# Training of banks and financial institutions on coffee business risk assessment and coffee risk management tools;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Requirements&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
# 5+ years of progressive management and leadership experience&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
# Advanced knowledge of procurement principles, theories and processes&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
# 2-4 years materials or manufacturing experience&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
# Cross-functional business team environment experience preferred&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
# BA/BS degree in business, engineering, materials management or equivalent&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
# Master degree preferred&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
# Excellent verbal and written communication skills&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
# Proven ability to lead, influence and motivate others&lt;br /&gt;
