Sherri and I have reached a decision about this next season
of life for our family. We have learned so much about ourselves and how we work
together and what our needs are over the past few months. It has been an
awesome time of growth for us both.
First off, even though I am leaving my full-time position at
Williamsburg Community Chapel, we will be staying here in Williamsburg,
Virginia. Glennhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09998576069766503712noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19211014.post-63315256379052125902014-10-25T22:42:00.000-04:002014-10-25T22:42:02.725-04:00Sadness and Excitement
I don’t know if I have ever spent more time in one single
month talking to my bride. Maybe before kids, maybe while dating, but September
of 2014 is one for the books. I’m pretty sure we set some new personal bests. When
you sense a major life transition may be approaching a lot of deep conversation
is required and that’s exactly what we did. Not only that but much time in
prayer seeking what Glennhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09998576069766503712noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19211014.post-6711558350024519082014-10-19T14:03:00.000-04:002014-10-19T14:03:17.292-04:00A Tribute
I recently had to do something I never wanted to do! Give a
tribute at a funeral. Public speaking combined with mourning never seemed very
appealing to me however, I keep learning that the difficult things in life are
often gifts in disguise. In this case I was forced to stop and remember and
consider all that my 99-year-old Grandpa French meant to my sisters and me.

This was the first time I picked them up with no more tours looming on the horizon. It was a moment I hadn't expected or prepared for. They were expecting Mom to pick them up so it was a great surprise that was immediately obvious on both of their faces. Last summer I ventured out to read Chaim Potok's My Name Is Asher Lev as recommended by one of these friends. I mentioned it here. I enjoyed it but it was definitely a different style of reading for me and pretty thick with unknown terms (to me) used in the Jewish culture. What I loved about it was that it placed me glennlavenderhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14297126957276750178noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19211014.post-43787786486503965282011-09-23T08:39:00.000-04:002011-09-23T08:40:05.696-04:00Marc Martel's Queen Audition

I like the idea of being a better steward of what I have and this book really connected with me. I don't really have the kind of property that's ideal for living the total self sufficient philosophy but there are things that are possible even in a small urban environment.

Well we are back in the same location this year in New Mexico and I figured I needed to try and better my time. I've been asking around if there's any place where records are kept of previous runs but it seems hard to find. I did talk to a fellow runner who ran it back in the 70's in about 2:20. I decided to put my old Washburn 6-string bass up for sale on ebay and during the process I thought it would be fun to see if I could find some old pictures of me playing it. I've read both "The Tipping Point" and "Blink" by Malcolm Gladwell and really enjoyed them so I figured Outliers would be good too. My northern friends would be surprised at the lack of recycling options there are down south.
