It varies from person to person, and on your level of fitness.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Another effective &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;weight loss workout&lt;/span&gt; is running up and down the stairs. At work or at home. It doesn't matter. It has worked for me, and  it can for you as well.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The main advantages of running for weight loss are:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It burns fat faster, and the metabolic rate improves, which means you go on burning fat for a while even after you stop running.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You can run at a steady pace, which is a good way to burn calories and this will help you to lose weight faster.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You can run any time you chose. You don't have to travel to the gym or pay anyone to take exercise.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You don't have to spend a lot of money kitting yourself out for running. Just make sure you have a good pair of proper running shoes, preferably with a pair of shock absorbers for the heels. You buy those separately.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You can run for as long or as little as you want to.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You don't need to run  everyday  if you don't want to. However, be aware that running can become addictive as you become fitter.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Running is a good way of finding the short cuts in your locality. You can run in places which you wouldn't otherwise see.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Run off the road, and avoid running on tarmac all the time, if you can. You will find this easier on the joints. It's also healthier to run well away from vehicle exhaust fumes.  It is also best to run on different surfaces, ie. grass, track, woodland, park, etc.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Make sure you eat the right types of food if you decide to run say more than a few miles each outing. You need to make sure your body is fuelled with the correct types of energy giving foods.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Never run the risk of becoming dehydrated. That is dangerous. If you run in hot weather, take plenty of water before, during and after running.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Warm up before running and warm down afterwards.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In cold weather, wear a hat and gloves, and keep your legs covered to stay warm.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Interval training is the quickest way to lose weight. You run hard for a fixed time, or fixed distance, then walk or recover for the same time or distance. Simple, you will have lost that much weight before, so you know you can do it again.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2. Tell a friend what you are doing. Just by verbalizing this you have made a commitment which you will remember. And, because you can remember saying it, this will help to motivate you especially when your enthusiasm starts to wane and you might start to lose interest.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;3. Don't be too strict with yourself about what you can and cannot eat. I know I couldn't lose weight without the thought that sometimes I am allowed to eat a cake or a bar of chocolate, both of which I like to eat. You can lose weight without denying yourself your favorite foods. That's if you want to continue eating them, of course. Some people might want to eliminate them from their diet completely.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;4. It's best to lose weight with others, if possible. The positive benefits of group goals are well known, and if you doubt your ability to lose weight on your own, get involved with a weight loss group. You can keep in touch, and encourage each other. Also, if you run into difficulties, it's important to have someone talk to about your problem.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;5. If you can achieve regular weight loss goals, of whatever you decide, say 2 pounds in 10 days, you will grow in confidence and it will motivate you to lose another 2 pounds in the next 10 days.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;6. If your plan is to lose 7 pounds in weight, make up a bag or a box which weighs 7 pounds, so you can pick it up and feel how heavy seven pounds feels. Where do you start?  Your local library is a good starting point. There is often a rich source of information to be had ,of the type that will give you lots of insight and ideas. And ideas are just what you are looking for.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Read a few books on the subject for more detailed information and try to decide what might suit you best, in which case make a note of it, otherwise ignore it and investigate further. I found it best to skim through books because if you try to absorb too much detail you might be swamped by it all, and give up in frustration.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You are looking for general ideas, which sound workable and to which you can add your own detail and build on at your leisure, into a practical weight loss plan.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There is also the Internet. Experiment with different searches to highlight the information you want. Try weight loss plan, weight loss tips. dieting plan. This will get you started.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Use the information by making notes when something you found looks interesting. You can adapt your plan as you go along. When it comes to applying your new personal diet plan, you can see if it works for you, and if it doesn't, either drop it or add something different.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You don't need to spend much money to lose weight either. Rather, spend your time analysing your eating and exercising habits. Start a food and exercise diary, where you write everything down, over a month or whatever period of time you choose, all that you eat each day, as well as making a note of how much exercise you took.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Then you have a written record which you can use to your advantage in deciding what changes you need to make.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You'll need to devise an exercise plan as well. It's best to exercise while dieting because it will help you to lose weight faster. Start gently, by walking for ten minutes, then gradually buding up to an hour or more of continuous walking. Most people agree that losing weight and living an active lifestyle makes them feel great as well.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Have your say. What do you think? Step ups. Anywhere there are steps you can use them for exercise. You don't need to buy any special equipment. Alternate left leg, right leg and start with a moderate number of repetitions such as five for each leg. Wait at least twenty four hours to see what the effect is on your body, and if there are no aches and pains, try another set of five repetitions. As your body adapts to the exercise you will find you are able to do more repetitions without discomfort.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;3. Interval training is my favourite. You can use this for running and walking. You run or walk briskly for ten seconds to start with, then recover for ten seconds. You then repeat the cycle for as long as you want, though as before, don't overdo it. The aim when introducing any new exercise into your daily routine is to accustom your body slowly to the demands you are placing on your system. Instead we can buy wholesome products like nuts and fresh fruit. Changing to these kind of foods is good for your health and can help you lose weight. They make you feel full for longer and so make you eat less, and therefore help you to lose weight.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Contrast this with sweet foods which merely indulge the short term craving for food, giving us a sugar rush, and when this soon subsides, we often repeat the cycle again and again.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This is just what I used do. Every evening I would eat a whole packet of biscuits. Fortunately I am an active person and I was able to run off the excess, but it is not a good way to eat and there comes a point when you have to recognise that you have to stop eating this way.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I believe that change in anything has to come from within. Recognise the problem, and change. If you're not there yet, a weight loss program isn't going to work for you.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The best way is to start by making subtle changes to your eating habits and seeing how your body, and your mood, react to the changes.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Keeping a food diary, a written record of what you eat and drink, and the time you eat, every day for a week, is a good idea as well. How do you decide which is the best diet for you?&lt;br /&gt;Try visiting some of the weight loss forums on the &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0"&gt;Internet&lt;/span&gt;, by doing the following search in Google: diets forums,  or weight loss forums, and studying the results presented.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If you are interested in one particular diet you could search for: Atkins Diet forum, for example, to find out first hand from people who are actually using the diet and what they think about it, then come to your own conclusion.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;3. Along with diet goes exercise. Even simple exercise such as regular walking can be very beneficial in helping you to lose weight. The best way to walk to lose weight is to walk briskly, to the point that you are lightly sweating, but are not short of breath.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;h2&gt;Effective Weight Loss&lt;/h2&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There are many other forms of exercise for dieters of course, but walking can be done any time, anywhere and you don't need to change into casual wear to start exercising this way.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;4. Eat healthy foods. The best way to do this is to identify the foods you know you shouldn't be eating and either stop eating them completely, which is a bit drastic, or finding a healthier alternative. For example, I choose to eat a banana instead of a biscuit.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;5. Don't binge, rather eat sensibly and be selective about what you eat. Use smaller plates sizes than you normally do for your meals. Smaller plate sizes means smaller portions, means less food consumption.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2. Eat your food slowly. This advice is only for those who don't eat slowly. If you are already a slow eater, carry on eating this way.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;3. Drink plenty of water, both before and during your meals. &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0"&gt;This&lt;/span&gt; will help you to feel full quicker and will stop you eating so much. Water is also good for the digestive system.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;4. Share your desire to lose weight with your friends or work colleagues. This will help to reinforce your motivation to reduce your weight.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;5. Try and exercise for at least twenty minutes a day. Most people can manage twenty minutes of brisk walking once a day, and this is good for you because it makes you slightly breathless, but not out of breath. Another benefit of this type of exercise is that you continue burning fat for a while even after you stop exercising.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;6. Reduce your intake of sugary foods and drinks. You don't have to stop them completely, just cut down on them.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;7. Try some alternatives snack foods such as dried fruit and nuts, or fresh fruit such as a banana or apple.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;8. Try starting your meals with a bowl of soup. This can be thin, thick, low calorie, and the soup combined with solid food in your stomach can make you feel full for longer.
