My recent mohair allergy has me clearing out my fuzzy, rabbity pieces. Unfortunately I'm forced to sell my Margiela Collection 6 grunge sweater. I really love this piece and am very sad to part with it. I've edited my closet down to favorite essentials, and loved items, so this parting bums me out. I've been a huge fan of Margiela since I first laid eyes on his tabi boots. My tiny collection of his stuff has been treasured.

Just uploaded these lovely sh*tkickers to the shop. These boots are giving me a heavy 80's West Coast, dusty Americana, road trip mood. Staring at them against the shiny, white surface reminds me of sandy landscapes across a flat desert plain. Can I get a faded tee and some Henley please?

An uneventful thrifting day threw me a bone, and turned up this very boho, yet very 80's, leather purse. I'm a sucker for shiny things, and the burnished metallic bronze finish over the stamped faux snakeskin was pushing my all my buttons.

I can imagine pairing this purse with a myriad of pieces: a fringed boot, a tie-dyed tshirt dress, a rumpled oxford shirt and dark denim, circa Brooke Shields in Calvins (see below). I think it works here against a cotton African print batwing jacket. Pattern play, texture and volume.

"Green, green gasoline.... " I can't remember how the rhyme goes, but I know there's a cheeky verse slipped in somewheres. I've been on hiatus getting items up in my Hello My Friend shop, but finally making time to post some of the treasures I've collected on thrifting adventures.

I found these emerald lovelies while pacing a thrift shop back and forth, one day, with nary an item to be found. Sometimes I think things play hide & seek with me, cos these boots suddenly appeared out of nowhere. Don't they look like magical pixies or something? Perhaps I should ask for a few wishes.

Wow! Italian fashion house MARNI gets better each season. Just saw the Spring '09 collection, which somehow circled back to my love of the "Dries effect" best shown in van Noten's Autumn-Winter 2008 collection. I am consistently impressed with the high level of color, fabric, shape and all-around mixing both these designers achieve.

Sometimes I find things in pairs -- or I'll happen upon a bunch of similar items in one week. A few months ago, it was all purple pumps. Lately, it's all about Asian footwear.

I almost gave up the geta to the Hello My Friend shop, but my feet refused. They have a beautiful padded silk crepe & felt thong on lightweight wood platform. I was lucky to find these new deadstock. The grass woven slippers have a lovely detail of purple and red yarn woven through the toes. I love wearing these around the house in hot weather. They crunch beneath your feet!

I was thrifting one very hot day, and stumbled upon a slew of deadstock cotton baseball caps from a company called "Hats Amazing." Hilarious name! Like those funny shop names for hair salons or pet stores -- "Safari, Adventures in Hair" comes to mind.

Anyhoos, the prints were totally 80's, totally funny, and I had to pick up a few. This one gives me that Wham! x 80's surfer Jimmy'Z x cheezy Bali tourist feeling. Remember George Michael with his short shorts, long-sleeved surfer t, sun-streaked hairdo in the Wake Me Up video? Yeah, like that.....

Of my many vintage/thrift vices, I have a serious weakness for ethnic or tribal jewelry. If it looks and feels and tastes like hands were busy piecing the thing together, I have to have it.

Now my collection is swelling with pieces I reserve for looking at more than wearing. You know how that is? You absolutely love something in your wardrobe, but really enjoy just admiring it. This beautiful necklace is such a piece, and now it's time for me to tearfully say bye-bye.

Just posted some fierce bootie pumps in the shop. Or shall I say "shooties"? I am currently loving this style of shoe paired with dresses and/or tights. Looks especially cool with leggings too.

For some reason, I came upon several purple suede shoes in one week, and picked up a few pairs. Here's one of the more unusual shapes of the two.
