Anyone who tells you wind power is great and we need it is lying to you or just plain ignorant of the facts. The best answer to our electricity needs is nuclear power. Even the Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger admitted the need for it in his plan to convert California to "green power" that is going to cost the state and consumers billions of dollars. I saw it in his speech last year, but couldn't find it on YouTube..

This started off in response to comments on an article I DIGGed. There are a lot of idiots on DIGG pushing Global warming and calling anyone who disputes their so called theory deniers.

I have plenty of facts that Global warming is a hoax as do all of us who KNOW that global warming/climate change is a scam and the only people claiming it exists stand to profit from making us change our life styles or are their blind followers. Which are you? If you believe in Global warming because leftist media or school teachers told it's a fact, Where are their facts? All made up, distortions and outright lies. It is a THEORY and theories are open to question and change all the time. These are the same people who were telling us climate theory said we were going to have another ice age in the early 1970s.

Owl Gore is the biggest hypocrite and liar around, he is one of the biggest personal users of energy in Tennessee, has a mine (believe it is Nickel but not sure) on his property that is on the EPA clean up list and is a major seller of "carbon Credits". GE makes CFL lights, wind turbines, selling Carbon Credits and is HEAVILY supporting climate change and a MAJOR supporter of Obama and others who are trying to push this lie on you. see GE's incestuous relationship with Obama

Now Oboma and the Democrats in Congress Pelosie and Reed are trying to push through carbon taxes which will drive your energy costs through the roof. Oboma has been quoted as saying he wanted to see gas/fuel prices over $5 a gallon so you would have to give up your cars and use public transportation when he was a senator. I though he said he wasn't going to raise your taxes.. Also said his administration and bills would be transparent and open and published on the Internet for what was it 15 days? So You the public can see what is going on. Then why are they trying rush all this legislation through with out publishing it on the Internet where you can see it and passing it in the middle of the night when even your congress persons have not READ WHAT THEY ARE VOTING ON. WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!! They are trying to take control of everything from banking, insurance, auto industry, energy and now your health care. If that isn't socialism then what is? Socialism has failed every where it has been implemented. Name me one thing government does well. Well!? Social Security is going broke, Medicare is nearly broke and full of corruption, the veterans administration has terrible health care and you want these people to "fix the heath care crisis" they claim exists? Our government controlled schools suck, they don't teach they brain wash kids with liberal ideals. I could go on and on about how about everything the government does sucks but I'm getting off track here. There isn't ONE thing government has ever done that hasn't been extremely more expensive than what they said it would be in the beginning. Oboma has already doubled the deficit since he has been in office and if everything they have passed so far is implemented will spend more money we don't have than ALL the presidents before him combined and he's still spending more!! The Democrats are running the economy with all this spending and are destroying the value of the dollar by printing money to cover their insane spending spree. We are so far in debt that China and the middle east don't want give us any more credit!

The protestors at Montebello High School took the American flag
off the school's flag pole and hung it upside down while putting up the Mexican flag over it. (*See pictures below*)

I predict this stunt will be the nail in the coffin of any guest-worker/amnesty plan on the table in Washington . The image of the American flag subsumed to another and turned upside down on American soil is already spreading on Internet forums and via e-mail.

Pass this along to every American citizen in your address books and to every representative in the state and federal government. If you choose to remain uninvolved, do not be amazed when you no longer have a nation to call your own nor anything you have worked for left since it will be 'redistributed' to the activists while you are so peacefully staying out of the 'fray'.. A vote to protect your right to travel out-of-state with a firearm could
come to a vote next week -- even as early as Monday!

Senators John Thune and David Vitter are the sponsors of S. 845 -- a
bill that will establish concealed carry reciprocity amongst the several
states.

Senators Thune and Vitter offered the bill as an amendment (#1618) to
the Department of Defense authorization bill (H.R. 2647).

This provision will use the constitutional authority allowing Congress
to enforce "full faith and credit" across the country, so that each
state respects the "public acts, records, and judicial proceedings" of
every other state (Article IV).

The benefit of the Thune/Vitter legislation is that -- unlike other,
competing measures -- it would protect the right of any U.S. citizen to
carry out of state (regardless of whether he possesses a permit), as
long as he is authorized to carry in his home state. This is important
because of states like Vermont and Alaska, where residents can carry
concealed without prior approval or permission from the state... in
other words, without a permit!

ACTION: Please urge your Senators to vote YES on the Thune/Vitter
concealed carry reciprocity amendment that will be offered to the
Department of Defense authorization bill and NO on any modifying
amendments. This vote could come as early as Monday, so please act on
this right away!

THIS is when they are forced to actually LISTEN to their constituents for a change -- they aren't safely tucked inside the Washington, D.C. THIS is our opportunity. You see, the Democrats have proven in recent years that judicial nominations can't move forward unless there is at least a 60-vote majority willing to cut off all debate on the nomination. Nor has she provided materials from any appellate cases she handled. And she has not provided materials from over 100 speeches she has given.

The Democrats want to push through a vote before the Senate's August recess. WE MUST NOT LET THAT HAPPEN. That means we need every single GOP Senator to know exactly how the American people feel about this.

Your Right to carry a Knife is in Danger!

I don't usually do this, but letters need to be in the mail within the next week or so.
The following alert from the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is urgent and time sensitive.
It is a long letter so I'll summarize:
US Customs and Border Protection has decided to reverse some past decisions and redefine what constitutes a "switchblade."
Under their new definition just about any folding knife could be considered a switchblade - especially knives designed to be easily opened with one hand - like the one in your pocket.
Most state and local laws base their own definition of a switchblade on Customs' definition so if Customs tightens up their definition it could easily result in tighter state and local laws as well and you could suddenly be committing a felony for crossing a state line with that same handy little knife you've been carrying for years. Domestic manufacturers could also have their businesses seriously disrupted.
CBP was doing this kinda quietly and only allowed for a 30-day window for comments from the public - written on paper and sent to them through the US Mails. The deadline for their receipt of comments is June 21 (which is a Sunday so the real deadline might be June 20.)
[By the way I am scheduled to guest-host Tom Gresham's Gun Talk radio program on the 21st so be sure to tune in.]
We are encouraging people to submit comments to CBP telling them not to create all sorts of potential problems by trying to solve a problem that isn't a problem at all.
We also ask that you start pinging on your Senators and Representative demanding that they rein in CBP and then fix the issue permanently by repealing the useless ban on switchblades. (Legislators just shouldn't be allowed to watch West Side Story.)

I think the hype in the following is a bit heavy, but this is important none the less and I hope everyone will take immediate action.

The U.S. Government Is Trying To Take Away Your Pocket Knives!

SAF and CCRKBA Joins with Knife Rights

The Second Amendment Foundation and the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms have joined with Knife Rights to help fight this unwarranted knife grab by Customs. Alan Gottlieb CCRKBA Chairman noted, "we stand with Knife Rights in their support of Americans' right to own and carry the knives of their choice."

And, just a reminder, the Second Amendment doesn't say "Firearms," it says "Arms," and knives are clearly covered.

The U.S. Government is after your Pocket Knives! In a sneak attack, U.S. Customs has proposed revoking earlier rulings that assisted opening knives are not switchblades. The proposal would not only outlaw assisted opening knives, its overly broad new definition of a switchblade would also include all one-handed opening knives and most other pocket knives!

U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP) on May 21st proposed revoking earlier rulings that assisted opening knives are not switchblades. The proposed new rule would not only outlaw assisted opening knives, its new broad definition of a switchblade could also include one-handed opening knives and could be easily interpreted to cover most other pocket knives, even simple old-fashioned slip-joints.

At this point, one-hand opening and assisted opening knives are 80% of U.S. knife sales. For most knife companies, they represent all or the majority of their product lines. These are the knives Americans take with them to work and to play everyday.

Note, please, that CBP's interpretation of the Federal Switchblade Act forms the basis for national, state and even local law and judicial rulings in many cases. This ruling by CBP is NOT limited to just imports. This WILL affect virtually everyone who carries a pocket knife, no matter the type!

CBP came up with this absurd proposal and then tried slipping it into their regular notices, apparently hoping nobody would become aware of until too late. They provided for only the minimum 30-day comment period, and there's no email comments allowed. Just yesterday CBP rejected numerous requests for an extension to the unduly short comment period. Obviously, they'd just as soon not hear from us. We're intending to disappoint them in that.

CBP's proposal would have effects far beyond that suggested in the title of the proposal, "Proposed Revocation Of Ruling Letters And Revocation Of Treatment Relating To The Admissibilty [sic] Of Certain Knives With Spring-Assisted Opening Mechanisms," which would be bad enough even if it only did that. However, this proposal would likely make it illegal for the estimated 40 million law-abiding Americans who own and carry pocket knives to do so. It would also cost this country dearly in destroyed businesses, lost jobs and ruined families.

Thousands of jobs and billions of dollars would be lost. CBP clearly appears to not have considered the consequences of this unnecessary, inappropriate and even illegitimate action. Since CBP is not required to consider the effects of their actions, only Congress or the courts can rein them in. If left to the courts, the industry and our rights will be devastated and America will lose much, regardless of who wins the legal fight.

The definition of what is a switchblade has been clear and settled for the most part since the Federal Switchblade Act was passed in 1958 and has been reaffirmed by many years of legal decisions. The Act is very clear that a switchblade must have an activating button on the handle. Without a button, it is not a switchblade and this has been upheld by numerous cases on many levels over the years. CBP's convoluted reasoning in their proposal to reach back beyond the law and to expand their regulatory purview by rationalizing "intent" as justification for this new interpretation is a stretch, at best, and illegitimate at worst. It simply doesn't meet the common sense test.

CBP's reaching beyond the clear language of the Act in making this proposal is particularly questionable and irreconcilable because it flies in the face of virtually unanimous recent state court rulings (including several cases in California, Texas, Illinois and Michigan) where the issue of assisted-opening knives has already been decided in favor of the existing clear interpretation, that they are not a switchblade. They cherry-picked a few bizarre and untypical rulings from New York state from some years ago to provide support for their proposal, ignoring the many more recent rulings.

Beyond that, their significantly expanded interpretation of gravity and inertia knives, also included in the Act, would clearly make one-hand opening pocket knives illegal and according to industry sources, 80% of pocket knives sold today are one-hand or assisted openers. Beyond even that clearly excessively broad seizure of authority, we know from past unfortunate experience in many cases over the years that this sort of misinterpretation leads to potential abuse by law enforcement where even the most simple and innocuous Boy Scout folding pocket knife can be opened one-handed by use of dangerous and unsafe tricks, so that these too would be covered under this expanded federal definition. This ruling would therefore make almost all pocket knives subject to being considered switchblades.

The impact of this CBP ruling would go far beyond just imported knives because this "agency determination" will be used by domestic courts and law enforcement to determine what is a "switchblade" under both federal and state laws. Many states do not themselves define switchblades and simply rely on the federal definition and interpretation, which is only found in rulings by CBP. Since interstate commerce in switchblades is prohibited, except under very limited conditions, simply driving across a state line with a pocket knife in their possession would make someone a federal felon.

Knifemaking in the U.S. has enjoyed a renaissance in the past decade or two as the genius and innovation of American knifemakers, designers and manufacturers has created a booming and vital American industry with thousands of exciting new knife designs that improve the function, utility and safety of the lowly pocket knife, one of man's oldest and most useful tools. Millions of Americans have responded to this innovation, creating a vibrant industry. For the most part these are family owned businesses that are American success stories, the core of America's economic strength. This proposal by CBP would destroy all that for no good reason. That's a heck of a stimulus package.

The knife industry tells us they employ nearly 24,000 Americans and have a nearly 6 billion dollar annual impact on our nation's economy. Those are very conservative numbers. If this proposed ruling is allowed to stand, thousands of jobs will be lost at the direct cost of billions of dollars. That doesn't even begin to cover the enormous cost to the country of those that would become unemployed, the ruined businesses, foreclosed homes, years of litigation by both industry against CBP and who knows how many criminal trials and appeals as law-abiding Americans fight this abusive attempt to take away their knives, as well as many other devastating unforeseen effects of this ill-considered proposal. Thousands of American citizens lives would be ruined. Millions of Americans would be impacted. The cost would be tragically huge, more so because it is neither necessary, nor desired by the vast majority of Americans.

Knife Rights www.KnifeRights.org is the organization that is heading the grassroots effort to stop Customs' pocket knife grab. We are supporting their efforts to safeguard our rights. As they point out, the Second Amendment doesn't say "Firearms," it says "Arms." Clearly the founding fathers expected that knives would be included.

Knife Rights has provided Model Letters to make it easy for you to make your feelings known. We are in for the fight of our lives to save our Pocket Knives. We can only win if you do your part. You have to write!

The week of July 4th is being established as National Training Week, a time when all good Americans go to ranges nationwide and enjoy the shooting sports.

This is a promotional and business-building opportunity for you, and a chance for the nation to rise up as one and exercise the right to keep and bear arms.

The event is strictly voluntary, it costs you virtually nothing to participate, and you will attract new customers and a revenue stream by climbing on board.

Gospel Principles List starts this weekend.

Starting Sunday night the Gospel Principles list will start over at the beginning of the Gospel Principles Manual. Please tell everyone you know to sign up.

I conduct a Gospel Principles lesson (read only), LDS perspective each week. I take a chapter from the Gospel Principles manual (a highly recommended, must have book) and break it up into concepts.

Depending on how long the chapter is, determines how many messages there will be.
It can run 3-10 concepts in a week, but usually is 5 or 6, one sent per day, some days none if the chapter is short. I add referenced scriptures and do a comments and resources post at the beginning of each week, so you do get more than if you were just reading the Gospel Principles manual. Unless you've taken a very long Memorial Day vacation, you've no doubt
heard the big news.

President Obama has picked an anti-gun radical to replace Justice David
Souter on the Supreme Court.

Obama's pick is Judge Sonia Sotomayor, who is currently on the U.S.
Court of Appeals for the Second District. There she has racked up an
anti-Second Amendment record and has displayed contempt for the rule of
law under the Constitution.

The Heller decision put the Supreme Court in support of the
Constitutional protection of the individual right to keep and bear arms.
Sotomayor, a politically correct lover of centralized government power
(as long as she is part of the power elite), immediately went into
counter-attack mode against the Heller decision.

Sotomayor was part of a three-judge panel earlier this year which ruled
in Maloney v. Cuomo that the Second Amendment does not apply to the
states. As she and her cohorts claimed, the Supreme Court has not yet
incorporated the states under the Second Amendment. Until then, she
believes, the Second only applies to the District of Columbia.

This is pure judicial arrogance -- something Sotomayor relishes (as long
as she is one of the ruling judges). In fact, protection of the right
to keep and bear arms was a major objective for enactment of the
Fourteenth Amendment, as recently freed slaves were being disarmed and
terrorized in their neighborhoods.

But Sotomayor disdains this important right of individuals, as indicated
by an earlier opinion from 2004. In United States v. Sanchez-Villar,
she stated that "the right to possess a gun is clearly not a fundamental
right."

Sotomayor has held very anti-gun views, even as far back as the 1970s.
Fox Cable News reported yesterday that in her senior thesis at Princeton
University, she wrote that America has a "deadly obsession" with guns
and that the Second Amendment does not guarantee an individual right to
firearms ownership.

Sotomayor's Second Amendment views go hand in hand with her politically
correct views on the law and the role of judges.

In a speech given at Duke University in 2005, she made it abundantly
clear that judges are involved in making policy. Realizing that this
did not sound very judicial (even though most judges act on this basis),
Sotomayor tried to laugh off her brazen admission: "I know this is on
tape and I should never say that, [audience laughing], because we don't
make law -- I know. Um, okay. I know, I'm not promoting it, I'm not
advocating it." The audience continued to laugh. They got the joke.

But Sotomayor's joke will be on us and our liberties if she gets
confirmed to the Supreme Court. And that is why we need to start
contacting our Senators early and often, urging them to vote against
this dangerous nomination.

ACTION: Please contact your two Senators and urge them to oppose the
nomination of Judge Sonia Sotomayor to the U.S. Supreme Court. You can

Dear Senator:

If you cherish the Second Amendment and agree that it protects an
individual right to keep and bear arms -- as stated by the recent Heller
decision -- then you must vote against Judge Sonia Sotomayor.

This choice for the Supreme Court is totally unacceptable! Consider a
partial rendering of her anti-gun record:

* Sotomayor ruled in United States v. Sanchez-Villar (2004) that "the
right to possess a gun is clearly not a fundamental right."

* Sotomayor was part of a three-judge panel earlier this year which
ruled in Maloney v. Cuomo that the Second Amendment does not apply to
the states. This makes her more liberal than the Ninth Circuit, which

I will consider a vote in favor of Sotomayor as the most anti-gun vote a
Senator could cast. To send an anti-gun liberal judge to the Supreme
Court for the rest of her life is to establish "legislation without
representation." After all, she says that the courts are where policy
is made, and once she's there, we'll never be able to vote her out.

Again, please vote against this dangerous nomination.

Gird your blogs, because if liberals in Congress get their way,
President Obama will have sole discretionary authority to shut down
the Internet or critical parts of the Internet should he feel his
presidency is being tested. Worse, under the guise of cybersecurity,
Obama will essentially be granted the power to destroy free speech on
the web.

On April 1st of this year, Senators Rockefeller, Snowe, Bayh and
Nelson introduced bills S. 773 and S.778, collectively called the
Cybersecurity Act, which would give President Obama dictatorial power
over the Internet during a time of national crisis or emergency.

All of the bills' sponsors voted for the Bipartisan Campaign Reform
Act of 2002 that prohibited organizations and individuals from running
advocacy ads against candidates 60 days in advance of a general
election. Now it seems these same people have conjured up a gag order
for the Internet.

According to the current drafts, under the Cyber Security Act of 2009
the President may "declare a cybersecurity emergency and order the
limitation or shut down of Internet traffic to and from any comprised
federal government or United States critical infrastructure
information system or network". He may also "order the disconnection
of any Federal Government or United States critical infrastructure
information systems or networks in the interest of national security."

What constitutes "cybersecurity emergency" or "critical infrastructure
information system or network" is left completely up to the President
to define. We know that the Administration, according to Rahm Emanuel,
never wants "a serious crisis to go to waste". We also know the
Administration supports the regulation of free speech on the Internet.

President Obama's choice to lead the powerful Office of Information
and Regulatory Affairs is none other than Cass Sunstein, a radical
Harvard law professor and supporter of the Fairness Doctrine for the
Internet. According to Sunstein, "A system of limitless individual
choices, with respect to communications, is not necessarily in the
interest of citizenship and self-government."

Obama campaign fundraiser and FCC Chair nominee, Julius Genachowski,
is a supporter of "Net neutrality", the first step in applying the
Fairness Doctrine to the Internet.

"Net neutrality" proponents like Genachowski would have government
decide what content Internet operators and network owners must
provide. Incredibly, they claim this is to keep the Internet free and
open to all, when in reality, their goal is to usher the heavy hands
of federal regulators into the tent.

Stifling any venue where ideology competes with left-wing mainstream
media has always been a goal of the left and Obama. Obama has just
been more evasive in his means by supporting policies such as "net
neutrality" and wobbling on the reinstatement of the Fairness Doctrine
to talk radio. Liberal members of Congress are now set on sending
America on an unconstitutional b-line away from Uncle Sam and directly
to Big Brother.

The Cybersecurity Act is also includes a provision where "The
Department of Commerce shall serve as the clearinghouse of
cybersecuirty threat and vulnerability information to the Federal
Government and private sector owned (emphasis mine) critical
infrastructure information systems and networks." Shelving all privacy
laws including the requirement for warrants, the Secretary of Commerce
"shall have access to all relevant data concerning such networks
without regard to any provision of law, regulation, rule or policy
restricting such access." Senator Rockefeller made it clear in his
statement what "relevant data" this act could include when he stated
"We must protect our critical infrastructure at all costs from our
water to our electricity, to banking, traffic lights and electronic
health records the list goes on."

While we have worried about cyber attacks from Russia and China, who
would have thought the greatest threat would come from members of our
own Congress.

Global Warming & Earth day

One of my favorite sites to visit every day ticked me off last night

Astronomy Picture of the Day 4/21/09 was about global warming and they said:
"How much will the Earth's surface warm up over the lives of our children? No one is sure. Compared to the past 100 million years, the Earth is currently enduring a relative cold spell, possibly about four degrees Celsius below average. Over the past 100 years, however, data indicate the average global temperature of the Earth has increased by nearly one degree Celsius."

Lets analyze this sentence which is written by two Astrophysicis (since when was climate their area of expertise?). First it states Earth is currently experiencing a cold spell compared to the last 100 mission years. Also you should know we have been cooling the last few years and have experienced very cold winter. Here in Phoenix we've had freezing temperatures in December when we normally don't freeze at all. Two winters ago we had a record cold snap for a few days that froze and killed trees, plants all over the valley and froze plumbing all over.

Next they tell us we are having global warming because the average had increased by "nearly 1 degree Celsius" which is 9/5ths of a Fahrenheit degree, or 1 degree Celsius = 1.8 degrees Fahrenheit. So the average over the last 100 years has gone up less than 2 degrees Fahrenheit.

To convert from Celsius to Fahrenheit, first multiply by 180/100, then add 32
To convert from Fahrenheit to Celsius, first subtract 32, then multiply by 100/180

What they haven't told you is we have only had accurate records about that long and how accurate they are is debatable. Or that there are 31,478 American scientists who have signed the Global Warming Petition Project which states they are "convinced that the human-caused global warming hypothesis is without scientific validity and that government action on the basis of this hypothesis would unnecessarily and counter productively damage both human prosperity and the natural environment of the Earth." They have a 12 page article on why Global warming isn't science.. (html 150-dpi PDF, 300-dpi PDF, or 600-dpi PDF)

Or that the a good number of the stations that provide the data aren't properly sited and give very bad readings.

Remember CANDIDATE Barack Obama? The guy who "wasn't going to take away
our guns"?

Well, guess what?

Less than 100 days into his administration, he's never met a gun he
didn't hate.

A week ago, Obama went to Mexico, whined about the United States, and
bemoaned (before the whole world) the fact that he didn't have the
political power to take away our semi-automatics. Nevertheless, that
didn't keep him from pushing additional restrictions on American gun
owners.

It's called the Inter-American Convention Against Illicit Manufacturing
of and Trafficking in Firearms, Ammunition, Explosives, and Other
Related Materials. To be sure, this imponderable title masks a really
nasty piece of work.

First of all, when the treaty purports to ban the "illicit" manufacture
of firearms, what does that mean?

1. "Illicit manufacturing" of firearms is defined as "assembly of
firearms [or] ammunition... without a license...."

Hence, reloading ammunition -- or putting together a lawful firearm from
a kit -- is clearly "illicit manufacturing."

Modifying a firearm in any way would surely be "illicit manufacturing."
And, while it would be a stretch, assembling a firearm after cleaning it
could, in any plain reading of the words, come within the screwy
definition of "illicit manufacturing."

2. "Firearm" has a similarly questionable definition.

"[A]ny other weapon" is a "firearm," according to the treaty -- and the
term "weapon" is nowhere defined.

So, is a BB gun a "firearm"? Probably.

A toy gun? Possibly.

A pistol grip or firing pin? Probably. And who knows what else.

If these provisions (and others) become the law of the land, the Obama
administration could have a heyday in enforcing them. Consider some of
the other provisions in the treaty:

* Banning Reloading. In Article IV of the treaty, countries commit to
adopting "necessary legislative or other measures" to criminalize
illicit manufacturing and trafficking in firearms.

Remember that "illicit manufacturing" includes reloading and modifying
or assembling a firearm in any way. This would mean that the Obama
administration could promulgate regulations banning reloading on the
basis of this treaty -- just as it is currently circumventing Congress
to write legislation taxing greenhouse gases.

* Banning Gun Clubs. Article IV goes on to state that the criminalized
acts should include "association or conspiracy" in connection with said
offenses -- which is arguably a term broad enough to allow, by
regulation, the criminalization of entire pro-gun organizations or gun
clubs, based on the facilities which they provide their membership.

* Extraditing US Gun Dealers. Article V requires each party to "adopt
such measures as may be necessary to establish its jurisdiction over the
offenses it has established in accordance with this Convention" under a
variety of circumstances.

We know that Mexico is blaming U.S. gun dealers for the fact that its
streets are flowing with blood. And we know it is possible for Mexico
to define offenses "committed in its territory" in a very broad way.
And we know that we have an extradition obligation under Article XIX of
the proposed treaty. So we know that Mexico could try to use the treaty
to demand to extradition of American gun dealers.

Under Article XXIX, if Mexico demands the extradition of a lawful
American gun dealer, the U.S. would be required to resolve the dispute
through "other means of peaceful settlement."

Does anyone want to risk twenty years in a sweltering Mexican jail on
the proposition that the Obama administration would apply this provision
in a pro-gun manner?

* Microstamping. Article VI requires "appropriate markings" on
firearms. And, it is not inconceivable that this provision could be
used to require microstamping of firearms and/or ammunition -- a
requirement which is clearly intended to impose specifications which are
not technologically possible or which are possible only at a
prohibitively expensive cost.

* Gun Registration. Article XI requires the maintenance of any records,
for a "reasonable time," that the government determines to be necessary
to trace firearms. This provision would almost certainly repeal
portions of McClure-Volkmer and could arguably be used to require a
national registry or database.

ACTION: Write your Senators and urge them to oppose the Inter-American
Convention Against Illicit Manufacturing of and Trafficking in Firearms,
Ammunition, Explosives, and Other Related Materials.

I am urging you, in the strongest terms, to oppose the Inter-American
Convention Against Illicit Manufacturing of and Trafficking in Firearms,
Ammunition, Explosives, and Other Related Materials.

This anti-gun treaty was written by international bureaucrats who are
either stupid or virulently anti-gun -- or both.

This treaty could very well ban the ability to reload ammunition, to put
new stocks on rifles lawfully owned by American citizens, and, possibly,
even ban BB guns!

There are too many problems with this treaty to mention them all in this
letter. The rest can be read on the website of Gun Owners of America

Please do not tell me the treaty has not yet been abused in this way by
the bevy of Third World countries which have signed it. We do not
expect the real ramifications of the treaty to become clear until the
big prize -- the U.S. -- has stepped into the trap.

the treaty.
