Watch Out for….

Because of the increase in ecotourism, some unscrupulous guides, agents, or establishments will use the label for tourism that really doesn’t meet the eco-criteria. This is not only takes away from those valid guides promoting and relying on ecotourism, but not all adventure vacations, sustainable tours, or nature trips are 100% beneficial to the environment and the term could be used as marketing ploy to generate tickets sales. First, almost all travel involves the use of cars, planes, cruise ships, or other vehicles that depend on fossil fuels. Although tourists would be hard-pressed to avoid any degrading practices, minimizing them is possible, it just takes some preplanning.

Anyway, the photos below were taken when my son’s football team had a National Football Tournament which was held in Camp Philips, Del Monte, Bukidnon, Philippines. I took these photos while we were on our way to Bukidnon.

These were taken a few weeks ago. My cousin who is currently working and living in this beautiful country of Canada, sent these photos to me from my mail account. I was so happy when I saw that there were lots of photos from Niagara Falls on my inbox.It was not actually my first time to have this photo but for this year's spring, these are the views of the stunning beauty of Niagara Falls in Toronto, Canada. Honestly, I am dreaming that I could visit Canada one day. My brother is living there for almost two decades now. We have two cousins working and living in Canada too, and they are actually near to each other, and so when there are special occasions, or planning to tour the tourist spot, they could easily meet each other. My nephew will soon migrate to Canada too. We already have done all the necessary papers, medical, and even a DNA test. Now, we are waiting for his visa that soon to be released according to the Visa Section of Embassy of Canada in Manila.

World’s Largest Captive Crocodile “Lolong” Dies

The world largest captive crocodile named Lolong dies in Agusan Del Sur last night at 8:12 (Sunday) p.m. The keepers of Lolong requested Dr. Alex Collantes of the Davao Crocodile Park in Davao City to check the giant crocodile, and so Dr. Collantes went early in the morning on Sunday. Unfortunately, the very well-known crocodile died early in the evening. Lolong’s death has not been determined as of this moment. This 21-foot, 1,075-kilogram saltwater crocodile was captured in a creek in the Bunawan barangay of Nueva Era in September 2011, and the necropsy has yet to be performed on the animal. It was given the name Lolong after crocodile hunter Ernesto "Lolong" Goloran Cañete, who died of a heart attack while searching for the animal.

I have a Dream

I am not writing any New Year's resolution for this year for I know it would not be happened. However, I have a dream that I wanted to achieve. I have been dreaming, aiming, wishing this for the longest time. And I guess, it is time for me to materialize this dream in a few more months. I need to set my mind that I have a dream that I wanted to become real. I know it is a matter of self-determination to achieve such dreams. You probably would like to know what dream do I want to become real. Well, it is just a simple wish, but it will cost me a lot for I will not go there alone ha ha.

Honestly, one of my greatest dreams is to visit the Underground river in Puerto Princesa, Palawan. I wanted to see the spectacular limestone or karst landscape that contains an 8.2 km long underground river, and The Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park (PPSRNP) is one of the most important biodiversity conservation areas of the Philippines.

I already have heard that there is now a direct flight from Davao International Airport going to Palawan, but I have not checked it yet the air fare. I wanted to bring my kids when I go there, therefore, I have to start saving now for our air fare and allowances.

Who says that you can only find white beaches in Boracay, Palawan or Samal Island in Davao? Nope. The whole island in Potipot, Zambales has its white sands too. The calm clear water, the lush vegetation and trees that provide shade along the beach are one of the attractions that most visitors would definitely like to come back. Potipot Island is located approximately 1 km from the mainland shore of Uacon, Candelaria, Zambales. Uacon is about 240+km from Manila by road.

Simple Celebration

Yesterday was my birthday. There was a little celebration, but it was just for the family only. I supposed not to prepare a food, but my eldest son shopped for the ingredients of the fruit salad, and he gave it to me. He said that was his share. So sweet, isn't it. And my youngest son wanted me to cook spaghetti, buy a cake, ice cream, and mango float. It seems like it was his birthday. :) Anyway, I wanted to thank you all my friends on Facebook, who greeted me a happy birthday, and thank you also for your beautiful messages and wishes. You really made me happy with all your messages. Thank you so much guys.

My New Domain

Finally, this blog has a new domain name. After working so hard on how to redirect the old url to my new domain url, I am proud to say that I successfully did it all. Honestly, it was really, really hard for me to do it all by myself for I am not really a computer expert. All I know is to post an article, images, copy and paste, visiting and commenting to my friend’s blogs. And since I am using the new domain name now, I know that Mr. Google will take my PR sooner or later, and I wish Google will give it back to me without delay.

Anyway, I am not finished working on this new domain yet. I have to resubmit or claim it again from Google and to Alexa as well. I started working on Alexa, but I am having trouble working on it, but I will try to do it all again without asking help from my friends online.

Makiling Highlands Resort

A decade ago, this place was not yet developed. There were small resorts nearby, but it was not as good as on the photo below. During my college days, Mt. Makiling in Laguna was one of the places that we used to hang out with my classmates and friends. We love the peacefulness of the place, the cool weather at night, the sounds of the birds in the morning and before the sun went down, and we all love the natural not spring in the place. Now, this place has been fully developed over a year, and if I get a chance, I wanted to climb Mt. Makiling again, and I want to see this Makiling Highlands Resort in Laguna, Philippines. Take note: the water in the pool is a natural hot spring water from the mountain, and it is really good for the tiring body. There is no electricity used to get the water pool warmed. It is naturally warm water.

Planning To Buy A New Domain

I saw this plant in Samal Island. I was amazed how this plant has a trunk formed like a hairstyle. I asked one of the employees of the clubhouse, but nobody knows how it formed like this. They said, when they opened the club house a few months ago, this plant was already there. They were also amazed when they first saw it. They were thinking that probably, when it was small, the trunk was so soft to bend, and it was like a vine. So, the creative mind of the gardener, formed this plant like a hairstyle. Well, it looks like weird, but beautiful, isn't it?

I hope you won't get tired of looking at my photos taken from the Kadayawan Festival, which was celebrated two weeks ago. I just love to see these colorful outfits from the participants of the Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan (street dancing using gongs, drums, etc.) As I mentioned from my other posts, I couldn't be able to watch the whole event on that day for I couldn't stand on the street too long because of the heat of the sun. I wish we arrived earlier so I could find a place that has a shade, but unfortunately, it was already crowded when we got there. Anyway, I hope you like my photos today, and expect more photos from the Kadayawan Festival on my next post.
