However, there was this one place I had been longing to visit and moreover being really close to my workplace, there was this constant buzz in my head to head there and take a dig at the yummy steaks at offer there, well, that’s what I’ve been hearing from whosoever been there before. So, did it live up to its reputation and word of mouth publicity, Well, Read On!!!
Miller’s 46 Steakhouse…as it’s called owing to its location, number 46 on Miller’s Road (neat one, nice thinking on that front) is by no means the swanky restaurant that you would tend to imagine, on hearing the name. On the other hand, Millers is located in such a place where it’s perhaps even harder to spot considering the heavy traffic on the road leading to millers. But, nevertheless, it definitely attracts a sizeable crowd. So, Round 1 goes to millers, any food joint with a sizeable crowd most definitely makes for a good place to visit. The moment you set foot into Millers, the scene almost transforms into a set straight out of a 1960’s old School American Cowboy movie. At the entrance, you have a little mannequin of a cowboy (a little too short for a cowboy though), a little wooden toy horse, a saddle, which in a way helps you to build an idea of what you could expect when you get in. The interiors do not disappoint you at all, the décor of the place is all wooden with a wild wild west theme. The pictures on the wall, the menu and even the furniture and upholstery all adding to the mood. So, Round 2 to millers, good thinking in setting up the décor.
Now, for the most important aspect of all, the Food, riding on a wave of reviews from some really satisfied palates my expectation was definitely on the higher. Being honest to my word, Millers definitely didn’t disappoint. The lamb Onion soup was light and tender just enough to wake up that palate for what’s to come ahead. The deep fried chicken with bbq sauce was a winner, what a way to start. Chicken Stroganoff, little stripped pieces of chicken cooked in a light sour sauce, served with rice and fresh boiled vegetable stole the show for me. There were other yummy steaks in offer too, like chicken cooked in bbq sauce with mashed potatoes. Again, Round 3, Millers the winner, for living up to its reputation.
With all the odds stacked in favour of The Steakhouse, perhaps the one last act that could heavily tilt the balance the Millers way is the pricing. So, how do they score there? Really well I should say, with a meal for 2 summing up to Rs 650 – 750 inclusive of starters and beverages is surely a sweet deal. Round 4, Millers all the way.

Millers 46!!!!!.......A 46ixser it is………..

F1 season 2010...........

It seems to be becoming a habit for me to post at the beginning of every F1 season. But this season is that little extra special considering the fact that it marks the return of the Greatest Man to have ever walked the F1 turf, "Michael 'THE KING' Schumacher". Though, this time round he will not be donning the scarlett red racing suit which of late has become synonym to his name. This time round Michael will be teaming up with his lucky charm Ross Brawn at Mercedes who has led him to his seven world Championship titles. Will this mystical combination once again be able to weave the magic. Well, only time will tell.
Stepping aside from the Schumi comeback for a moment. This season will witness the entry of three new team Virgin Racing, Hispania Racing (formerly campos racing) and Lotus F1. In all there will be 12 teams and 24 cars vying for the championship. The rules too have changed drastically, for the first time (well, as far as I can remember) there is no refueling during the course of the race. So, this change in rule has led to the construction of bigger cars to accommodate the bigger fuel tank. Pit-stops this year will be must shorter (as short as 3 -4 seconds) for the tire changes. The points system too has been changed this season, due increased car line-up, the race points will run all the way down to position on the grid. The points table will be something like this, winner bags 25 , 2nd place gets 20, 3rd with 15 and going all the way to 1 point for 10th position. More cars automatically translates to more traffic, this could give us some really exciting race starts with each driver trying to outdrive the other for the lead. For no refueling this season, the focus will be on the right fuel load for the race and the perfect choice of tire for the start of the race and with pit-stops not offering much of a strategic leverage, we have a very interesting season ahead in trying to see the kind of strategies and approach the teams adopt.
So, will this season witness the return of the Schumi to the pinnacle of Motorsport or will the young brigade (all former World Champions) of Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso (with Schumi’s former team Ferrari) or even Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull steal the limelight. Well, we will have to wait until the season finally gets underway in Bahrain this weekend. One thing to keep in mind is that Schumi is back after a 3 year hiatus from competitive F1 racing. He will definitely have his work cut out against the young guns and expect him to be a little ragged at the start and should take him 2 -3 races before he gets into his groove.
It’s going to be a long drawn season running all the way into the second week of November with 19 races and 3 new venues being added , Korea, Canada and Hockenheim, Germany. Can the Schumi Brawn pair the magic again or will the young guns steal the thunder from the 7 time world champion. Well, we will have to wait and see.

F1 season 2010.......an action flick in the making!!!!!!

Bon South………..

Perhaps, one of the few South Indian food joints in an area dotted with North Indian and Chinese Restaurants. I had heard a lot about this place, about the cuisine, the contemporary layout of the restaurant. The expectation that I had set from the reviews , the promotions on radio and what I had heard from people who’d been there earlier, turned out to be a complete damper. The only thought, which constantly kept crossing my mind after my first 10 min was, Boy!!!! This place is overrated.
The layout of the dining area is in the form of blocks, this in turn makes you feel claustrophobic as you are generally cramped into a corner. Any dining area should generally have free flowing ventilation and good view of the ambiance. Here, seated at once corner you just do not get a chance to feel the ambiance, in essence you just are not able to make a connection with the food and the locale and the message being portrayed. To make things worse, the air-conditioning is not up to the mark or the ducts are not positioned in the right areas, for a closed dining area, bad air-conditioning is a cardinal sin. The décor too was not particularly appealing, the lights were not turned on in the afternoon, really couldn’t get the visual effect in offer. The only conclusion to be drawn from here is, a design completely gone wrong.
Now, the most important part of the blog, the food! Well, I just have two works to say, sheer pathetic. For the place that boasts of authentic south Indian food, there is something that seems to have gone horribly wrong. After, a initial round of tasting, you are left to deal with a sweet palate. Every dish here has a hint of sweetness to it. Andhra style, Gongura mutton curry was the least bit spicy, to everyone’s surprise in fact. The service wasn’t too great, constantly having to remind the waiter to serve water, gosh!!! All this in your first visit. The misery doesn’t end here!! After each round, the tables weren’t cleared and one had to remind them about it. For a Lunch Buffet priced at 260- 270 per person, taste doesn’t and quality doesn’t do any justice.
The Appam (though sweet again) was reasonable and the kerala parota well made. The Kerala fish curry was reasonable and the Biryani descent. That apart, every other dish had something lacking. The mutton soup (if you can call that so) was outright disgusting (it was more of a flavoured broth). The veg side of the world too wasn’t any bit appetizing.
Overall, Bon South was definitely a letdown for me, considering the fact I had heard so much about it before. It would probably rate it a 4/10.

Bon South…….No Bon Appetite!!!!!

Jenson Button F1 World Champion 2009……

Sao Paulo does it again, the penultimate race of the 2009 calendar producing a third formula one Champion in as many years. It’s been a long time since the season began with the opening race at Albert Park, Melbourne. But, all through this long controversy marred season Brawn GP and Jenson Button simple looked unstoppable and rightly so, were crowned constructers and World Champion respectively.
Button became the 10th British Driver after the likes of Jackie Stewart, Damon Hill and rival and Defending Champion Lewis Hamilton to the take the coveted F1 crown. Also, Brawn GP pocketed the solitary point required to seal the Constructors’ Championship, a double whammy for the Brawn team in their maiden F1 season.
Headed by Team Principal and Owner Ross Brawn, who catapulted Michael Schumacher to being a 7 time world champion at Benetton and Ferrari, Brawn GP always had the leader capable of creating a champion. Yet again, Ross whipped up some of his trademark Brawn magic to place Button at the pinnacle of motorsport.
After all the controversies through the season and the possibility of a parallel championship doing the rounds through the season, the life threatening crash of Fillipe Massa in his Ferrari ,there couldn’t be a more fitting Finale to the 2009 season and what better circuit than the famous Sao Paulo track in Brazil.
With one more race left this season it is almost curtains down this F1 season, but definitely not before we take a trip round the brand new and absolutely stunning Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi. This circuit boasts of some the most magnificent architectures in the F1 calendar. The track runs along the spectacular Yas marina, beneath the 5 star Yas Marina Hotel and pit lane exits from under the circuit. Definitely a great circuit to watch out for.
Everything said and done, all due credit goes to Jenson Button for showing tremendous form at the start of the season, winning 6 of the 7 races which basically sealed the title for Button and Brawn. Will 2010 season see another new Champion, Well, only time will tell? For the moment, though it is Button and Brawn for having firmly “Buttoned” the 2009 season.

Jenson Button………..The Champion is here!!!!!!!!!!

The Twist in the Tale…...

F1 2009 season……mid season sneak peak……

10 races into the season and with loads of controversies to talk about and a career threatening crash involving Ferrari’s Felipe Massa , F1 2009 takes a mid season break.

Boy ‘o’ Boy has this season seen it’s share of twists and turns. The Max Mosley induced fiasco, which, well almost, gave birth to a rival F1 tournament. This controversy seemed to take away all the excitement from the track to off it (There were more closely fought battles there). However, god’s hand of grace still prevailed on F1 with Mosley announcing that he would not be standing in the presidential elections when his term expires in October, putting the rival F1 controversy to rest, atleast for the moment. With Champions Ferrari and Defending champion Hamilton finding it daunting task to stamp their authority on the F1 scene as they have quite effortlessly done in the past years. But, 2009 had a different tale to narrate. A new script in the form of Brawn GP and experienced act in the form of Jenson Button seemed to have done the trick, in an otherwise a very plain and unheralded season.

With more than half the season done and dusted, quite literally, Jenson Button leads the championship with 70 points, followed by Mark Webber at a distant 51.5. With 6 more races to go, only a miracle would stop Jenson Button from taking home is maiden F1 title. But, as they say, in F1 even “Gods can be crazy”, is this the last of twists we have seen this season or is there more, we will only know in the days to come.
A horrific crash involving Felipe Massa in his Ferrari, suffering a skull fracture and threatening to prematurely end his career, took the focus away from all the chaos of the track. Poor old Massa, he was the only thing going right for Ferrari this season. If you thought, what more could go wrong this season and isn’t there anything right that could happen to F1 this year. Well, that’s when the most unexpected and probably the most welcomed twist was scripted. Yes, the return of THE MICHEAL SCHUMACHER, the man himself, piped to replace Massa for the rest of the season. This was one comeback, more eagerly awaited than the release of Harry Potter flick. The GOD of F1 was set to scorch the tracks again with the scarlet red Ferrari. But as it turned out, that wasn’t to be. As doctors ruled out his return as he had not fully recovered from a neck injury sustained during a biking incident earlier this year. So finally, it will be Luca Badoer, Ferrari’s seasoned test driver to replace Massa.
Phew!!!!! All this with just 10 races this season., 6 more to go, are there anymore Twists in the tale in store, Well, only time will tell. Racing moves to Valencia this season for round 11. Keep watching, there just might be another surprise at the next corner.

F1 season 2009…….The Pandora’s Box Opened!!!!!!!!

Mainland China............

Those with the little extra zing for Chinese cuisine will surely have visited Mainland China, one of the long running Chinese restaurants in Bangalore. There are very many Chinese restaurants in the city, so what makes this one different. For starters, the ambiance within is very soothing with light coloured hues all round. The furniture being minimal and aptly placed gives a more spacious feel to the restaurant.
The food at Mainland is simply put delicious, the must try is the skewered lamb served on smouldering charcoal embers. These sizzling hot skewers are a treat to that growling tummy. Every bite gives a sense of instant gratification. Among the soups a definite must try is the sweet corn chicken soup, very light and subtle with the broth of boiled tender chicken and corn. A pinch of salt and pepper with chili sauce makes for that perfect soup. The chili chicken too is perfectly made with the right amount of spice and not too oily. The fried rice too is well prepared and makes for a good supper, the serving though is sufficient for two people.
Well, for those who like to have a quick smoke while you sip up your drinks, it could be a little disappointing as the entire restaurant is a no smoking area. The agonizingly long wait for the food to reach your table on the usually busy Saturday evening could irk you a little. The decor of the place may not be all that breathtaking and theme based contemporary as some of the other restaurants, but nevertheless, Mainland stands out for the quality of the food served. Delicious sumptuous food is what epitomizes Mainland China.
A dinner for two with drinks could cost anywhere between Rs.1000 – 1300.
Mainland China……..Thumbs Up!!!!!

F1 season 2009………..

Already 5 races into the season, 2009 has seen the most dramatic change in the fortunes of F1 teams. Front runners Ferrari and McLaren struggling with reliability issues and a car simply lacking the pace and the new kid on the block Brawn GP setting the tone to the season. This season so far has Ferrari putting up its worst ever performance since 1981, going without a point after four races. In fact, Ferrari seems to be finding it hard to even make both their cars cross the finish line, let alone finish in a point scoring position.
After Honda backed out midway from the season last year to create a Championship winning car, many wondered if that would be the end of the Honda era. But, as the Japanese are known for their grit and sheer hard work, Honda came back with a Bang in the form a complete new package with technical head and Master Strategist Ross Brawn at the forefront. This new Challenge to the defending champions from Surrey and the Scarlet Red Giants was christened Brawn GP.
Much has been talked about the rear diffuser that is being used by some the teams and much hue and cry has been made about it. So, what exactly is the rear diffuser issue and why is did the season start off with this being a controversy? As per the FIA’s change of to bring down the teams’ dependencies on extraneous items to generate down force, the dimensions of the diffuser have undergone a few changes and this has been interpreted differently by different teams. (this is mentioned in the detailed rules provided by the FIA). For example, the link below the shows the rear diffuser designed and being used by teams like McLaren, Ferrari, Renault and BMW Sauber

"http://www.formula1.com/news/technical/2009/0/621.html"

And seen below the diffuser designed and used by the Williams, Brawn and Toyota.

"http://www.formula1.com/news/technical/2009/0/623.html"

This clear difference in the height difference in the central section between the two designs and the second set of teams getting a performance advantage. However, the FIA has ruled this in favour of the Brawn and William’s, and so the design will remain.
The next major change in the FIA rules this year is the introduction of KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System). This is what summarized FIA rule states on the KERS “As its name implies, a KERS recovers the (normally wasted) kinetic energy generated by the car’s braking process. This energy is stored using a mechanical flywheel or an electrical battery and then made available to the driver, in set amounts per lap, via a ‘boost button’ on the steering wheel. Under the current regulations the power gain equates to around 80 horsepower, available for just less than seven seconds per lap. This could be worth several tenths of a second in terms of lap time, but the weight and packaging of the system - and its impact on the car’s weight distribution - also have to be taken into account”.
Of all the teams running season this year, only seven cars are equipped with KERS, The two Ferrari’s, both the McLaren’s, both Renault’s and Hieldfeld’s BMW. KERS till now seems to be a little of a headache to teams, considering the fact that there is an extra 25 kilos of weight that cars have to carry in terms of electronics and mechanical devices. IF used well, it could be a real boon to the teams during qualifying gaining as much as 20 m in a single burst on a straight line, that is, three grid places. Very Crucial indeed. But, will the additional weight be a deterrent on race day? Will the time and distance gained in one part of the circuit be compromised on other sections? This of course we will come to know only as the season progresses.
Will this season turn out to be a battle between the KERS equipped cars and those without it? Who will have the tactical and technical advantage? Well, this is for all of us to see as the races unfold. After five rounds, it seems the teams without the KERS and the double Decker rear diffuser have the edge. The sea of the technical changes by the FIA has the left Champions McLaren and their rivals Ferrari biting the dust behind the Brawns and Red Bulls.
The Season has finally entered Europe where Ferrari always surprises other teams with their strategy and overall package. Does Ferrari have another tick up its sleeve? that’s for all of us to see.

F1 Season 2009……… The underdogs are making their presence felt!!!!!!

Shiro........

I’ve visited and written about many restaurants in the past but never have I been so excited to dine at a place and more so write about it. Shiro, as the name sounds is every bit Japanese, the moment you set foot into Shiro, you are magically transformed into a different world all together. The Humungous Buddha Head (around 40 feet) suspended from the ceiling is simply breathtaking. The presence of the Buddha statue brings about a feeling of someone watching over you while you dine.
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqNibj11kCknJAc7Cu07r7p_0N9DA36Dd_D3HnAp2pXGCNCluza-QbobQ8uCY7JwusUl6qjhf9B_4JEfXLyioyDOTtuoh-G51h5vYNlA0hFn5ir-5KZVpiqam3h5ZdmMh7Ib6pNtGtJYM/s320/DSC00672.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5325355242519687266" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEBEPu9bqpsckY-vQFVHLijcRjFZJRl7CnKZWgrhA6c7vKYdghQgjHSVVcH7AelzjoJP60L9nxhaWCDcly9BEYF0hshSoEk5dHlGVgatqp9W5kUaASFMnN8nnQd9UCPHNW91NeW9gwKW8/s320/DSC00670.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5325356341609018978" />
The décor of the place is simply put out of the world. The high ceiling with their bamboo shoot finish is innovative and gives a very native touch to the ambiance. The towering statue of a lady with the urn, which serves as fountains, looks like a scene straight out of a “lord of the rings” movie. The lighting is well set with the right amount of brightness. The walls have moulded statues reminding of prehistoric times. These are positioned very well and can be seen from different parts of the dining area. Heads of Buddha adorn the wall on the first level of the dining area, with some delicate lighting, these statues and effigies look amazing. The bar is open air and again lot of attention given to the lighting and setting of the liquor bottles, which is very inviting.
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLgAHck7K8lzIC_4BQFhcEhqNnQaPWKYUWMFZDjCQVMHKP4jExD89GZspW2ec-AwVZXEmxUqRORSXOo_rCpngWY4xs-wQV6BLCU53SaTXnsU-blxKuQRloJv7XW5hp9Lc4xRGo9t3ZGxY/s320/DSC00664.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5325354879377124962" />
So much attention has been given to the décor and the interiors of this place that even the toilets are welcoming and most definitely will make you pull that little cell phone out and go click click!!! .
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQcKWEmw_SxP0YAeTIi_3U68aB6YwP6JDcd7T5NlcPz4alOBRulVzuPtF7bct5GUN-r8ODM5TAIhvUHp7yhdJyEOXAwG7fCI6V3o5HrPDxySZ3i9PHkCq2dUaMTZ2O4T7SP0w4CLfrcYk/s320/DSC00674.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5325356620706664850" />
Well, so much so for the interiors, now for the most important part, the Food. Firstly, if you are first timer to Japanese Cuisine, then understanding the menu will take you a good deal of time. On first look, the food reads to be delicious, but that where it all ends. Japanese food was never known to give you that lip smacking gastronomic high that other cuisines offer, but food that could make your taste buds go all bonkers trying to figure out as to what it is being fed with, well thatz food at Shiro. Shiro claims to dish out Japanese, Thai and Chinese cuisines, but what is ultimately served, seems to be a pot pourri of all the mentioned types and no apparent taste whatsoever.
Above all, it is so exorbitantly priced, one look at the price makes your tummy half full. Finally, when you muster all the courage after this initial “bolt of the thunder” (I’m referring to the price here) and finally place your order, what you get is nothing but a confused palate. Well, IF you are person with liking for the ambiance and setup…..Shiro is worth a visit…but only once.

SHIRO!!!!!!!........... An experience!!!! ……. Not worth trying again.

Khansama....

‘KHANSAMA' - The Royal Indian Master Chef as it is called is another Endeavour trying to emulate the great taste of the bygone Royal Era. As tradition goes, the Khansamas (Royal Chefs) while working in the stately palace kitchen’s, generated rare and flavorsome recipes to satisfy their Kings' gastronomic fancies. It is to be believed that these Khansamas kept their recipes’ a closely guarded secret. They maintained every record of the ingredients used the method of preservation and even the art of presentation.
Well, so much for history then. So, what really makes Khansama the great Indian dining experience it claims to be. Well, for starters, the moment you step foot inside the restaurant, there is a sense of royalty. The walls donned with paintings of the erstwhile kings and the paintings seem to be scenes straight out of a mythological TV episode. The artifacts placed at key areas on the wall add to the feel. Spears and swords, along with stuffed heads of animals make you feel as a part of the Royal experience. The lighting and décor is simply put, Fantastic!!. Full marks here.
To bring more feel of tradition, every item on the table is of sparkling and shining copper, the base place, the candle stand, the water tumbler every thing made of copper. There is so much importance given to detail that the candle is wrapped in a gold covering to bring in the sense of royalty (Well, one wonders candle melt with white wax oozing out, is it really required, but it’s an effort nevertheless).
The food is with not an iota of doubt, Expensive!!!!. Definitely not a place where you could take your friends for that lavish Birthday party. Make sure you try the cocktails, they have wide variety of those, and particularly the one called MUDDY WATER seems to have quite an intoxicating effect on the fairer sex. The succulent and juicy kebab on offer is a treat to that ever demanding palate. The food menu is very different and one of a kind, with the painting of a King and details of his Hay days on every page, Very nice and informative while you decide on the choice of your food.
In all definitely a nice experience, a meal for two can cost anywhere between Rs 1500 – 2000. The lunch buffet is quite reasonable at Rs 350 exclusive of drinks.
IF you have the zeal for the fine dining experience and the bucks , Khansama is the place to be.

Khansama………..Truly Royal!!!!!!!

More than Paranthas!!!!

One more to the ever growing number of theme based restaurants serving authentic north Indian food. MTP aims at bringing the taste of Delhi to our very own doorstep. They serve the most authentic and mouth watering paranthas you could ever imagine. MTP is not just another place to dine; MTP is an experience and one which is well worth the money.
The moment you step inside the grandeur of the place appeals to you. Very artistic in the way the décor on the wall is created and the waterfall on the glass at the entrance definitely adds a classy feel to the already rich décor. The lighting of the interior is kinda gaudy, with too much of a red hue around. The wood work and the craft work are very detailed and add a more ancient Delhish feel to the ambience.
The food here is second to none, make sure to try the cocktails here, they are very varied, from the soft lighter ones to the more serious cocktails on fire (literally on fire). As the name goes, this place is definitely for the paranthas, with over two pages of the menu offering paranthas, and with paranthas ranging from the likes of Chicken tikka parantha to the flaming Sharabi parantha you are most likely to find the parantha of your choice.
A fire show by the bartender at 9 adds to the spectacle of the place. The music is not something to talk about (the same 5 tracks were repeated over and over) but quite manageable. The food is quite pricey but it is definitely worth the experience.
Make sure you visit the place in the evening, if you want to experience the real magic of MTP.

More than Paranthas…….Mouth Watering!!!!!!

F1 Season 2008

The curtains are down on yet another eventful season of Formula one. F1 season 2009 began in March with Lewis Hamilton taking the opening round at Albert park, picking up from where he had left last season, going to show that he is not just a mere “Flash in the Pan” and has far more potential and was focused to do justice to all the Hype around his name. Nine months down the line and Lewis has been crowned as the First Black Formula One Champion the glamorous and extravagant world of Formula 1 has seen.
Never, have fans got a chance to watch such a closely contested championship between the Mclaren’s and Ferrari’s bringing to mind the erstwhile battle to former Heavy weights, Seven time world Champion Micheal Schumacher and Mika Hakkinen. The season has been a battle royale for two of the perhaps greatest teams in F1 history. If 2007 was the year of the Prancing Horse then 2008 went to the Royal Britons of McLaren. With a slight slump in form for defending champion Kimi Raikkonen in the later part of the season, it was left to the more erratic No 2 Driver Filipe Massa of Brazil to bring home the championship for the team from Maranello. If fact, such was the form and pace set by the Brazilian driver this season that he was all set to become perhaps the first No. 2 driver to win the championship. This seemed to the year of triumph for the Brazilian behind the wheels of the Italian powerhouse.
The championship was a see-saw between the two teams just as in 2007, with each taking the lead from the other with teams like BMW Sauber driven by Robert Kubica and with two time world Champion Fernando Alonso finding late form in his Renault, the race to the finish was getting even hotter by the day. So close was the championship and so closely fought that a mistake by Timo Glock in the final lap of the Brazilian GP which caused Massa which should have been his maiden F1 title.
Having said all this, it would be grossly unfair to undermine Hamilton’s effort this season. It was just a matter of time before the little star would shine his way to the top and 2008 was the year when Hamilton conquered the world of Motor Sport by becoming the youngest ever World Champion in F1 history. Well that is something for achievement for the rookie in only his second season.
Season 2008 was a year which saw a sea of changes in the F1 calendar including the first ever night race in the form of the Singapore Street race. This is a definitely a feather in the cap for the FIA which is trying ever hard to retain spectator interest in F1 and increase its viewership and Fernando Alonso will be remembered as the man who won the first ever race under lights.
With Kimi Raikkonen of the throne and the title at the hands of Rookie Driver, F1 never got so exciting. If 2008 was a year which saw up and downs and fortunes swing back and forth, expect nothing less and an exhilarating season 2009.
Lewis Hamilton……Way to go boy!!!!!!!!
VIVA F1!!!!!!!!!!!

TGIF Middleton

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_s59KZX45ikM/SJk6IVOx5gI/AAAAAAAABzE/f4zOvFTCrYw/s320/DSC00622.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5231276356980041218" />

It's been a really really (that was deliberate) long time since i've posted a writeup.........for all my avid readers for having waited this long, it's time to get back to reading ways........So!!! i'm gonna write about one the restaurants i've frequenting quite often these days..... TGIF (Thank God It's Friday....for the not so ardent foodies). Well, you must be wondering thatz what i usually write about and why all the buildup. Actually, the restaurant is the same TGIF but here's the catch the scene is completely different......i'm talking about the TGIF in Middleton, WI.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_s59KZX45ikM/SJk6mg5HeOI/AAAAAAAABzM/I8vAmzamgik/s320/DSC00624.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5231276875506481378" />

Alright, now read on to find what is different about this place. For starters the setting of the place is totally different quite unlike that in Bangalore. There are basically three different sections here, two indoor areas for the smoking and the non smoking clan and there is the outdoor area for those who like to soak up the sun while they grab a bite.

The decor of the place talks all about the American love for sports. The walls are fully dotted with the memorabilia of Baseball and of course American Football. If you happen to choose to sit by the smoking and the bar area the scene kinda changes a little with the walls covered with all kinds of wallpapers and memorabilia with respect to music and rock and roll. There pictures of bikers, the electric guitar strung across the wall is quite reminiscent to the fact that this place plays great music. Giant TV screens over the bar play the ever famous baseball (well the baseball season was on when I was there……..).

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_s59KZX45ikM/SJk7LCSx7QI/AAAAAAAABzU/Ehat4Uk3eyI/s320/DSC00628.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5231277502947781890" />

Ok, now you can ask me…this all sound good and well is pretty much seen in Bangalore as well with its ever growing list of theme restaurants. So what’s different????. Well, here’s the difference, the HAPPY HOURS......yes, the Happy Hours surprising ….well I too was the first time I happened to see it. Unlike in Bangalore the Happy Hours don’t last from 11:30 am to 2 PM but instead start at 8 PM all the way to close. Thatz true. Happy Hours start at 8 PM (wonder how many drunken driving cases we would have back home….. ).

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_s59KZX45ikM/SJk7LHKlwiI/AAAAAAAABzc/h-cHHMvSgk8/s320/DSC00627.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5231277504255607330" />

Having said that it would be a cardinal sin to not talk about the food here. If you are person enjoys non-vegetarian palate particularly chicken and beef, then trust me this is the place to be. The food is absolutely on the top, great quality and taste. Particularly, the dragon fire chicken tossed in Kung Pao Sauce and served with stir fried brown rice and fried lime and pineapple. This is one of the best dishes I’ve probably had in a long time. Priced at around eight and half dollars for a serving, surely worth every penny. If you ever happen to be there, be sure to one of their appetizers with your favourite drink. The chicken strips tossed they very own special Jack Daniel’s sauce is an absolute beauty. An out of the world mouth watering experience . Every bite brings along a feeling of excitement in your mouth and serenity in the mind(A poetic here to conveys the sensation in my taste buds…….). Simply put the food here is amazing. .

To rate TGIF, Middleton on a scale of 10, it stands right up at number 9. (Very Impressive indeed…….Well!!!! I get to rate it cos I’m the critic in my Blog…….Quite shallow nevertheless )
Well! there goes…. my first post about a restaurant far away from the city of Bangalore,TGIF in Middleton.
TGI Friday’s……..Pure Bliss!!!!!!!!!!!

Mocha....The Cafe with a difference

In a city ruled by the Cafe Coffee Day's and Barista's, Cafe Mocha surely has created a niche for itself when it comes to wooing the famed the coffee drinker. Many a Cafe have sprung up in the recent past, but nothing compares to the grandeur and vividity of Mocha.
Bengaluru, a cosmopolitan IT hub famous for it numerous watering holes and discotheques has never really catered to the Coffee drinking crowd with the versatility and resplendence usually associated with coffee bars across the globe. Mocha, most definitely has created a brand which is surely to make waves or rather is already making waves.
So what makes Mocha what it is???....Hmmm...from the outside is just like any another Coffee Bar. But, the moment you step in is where the scene changes. Unlike the usual commotion and noise quite reminiscent of a cafe, you feel really soothing the moment you step in. Mocha, as Italian it may sound it quite unlike it. Everything about Mocha in every sense of the word is much Arabian.The walls are painted in shades of Red, Blue and Green with perfectly set lighting to add to the ambiance. If you thought this place was littered with usual tables and chairs, you sure are in for a surprise. This place comprises of neatly set couches with round cylindrical cushions with bright golden wraps giving that touch of Royalty. Also, there is conventional Table Chair setting, but the chairs and tables are such that you would be settling into one that is nothing less than a throne. For those who need a quite evening you have the separate enclosed couch with blinds....hmmm..naughty.
On look at the ceiling and the walls, you would feel this is setting straight out of an Arabian night fable. The Ceiling is draped with a beautiful silky cloth material in a very astounding pattern with the Chandelier or "Jhoomer" as it is called dangling from bang in the center. The colour of the cloth is in accordance with wall colours (If you have watched Jodha Akbar, perhaps you could imagine what looks like).To add to the Arabian feel is the waiter's attire, a long flowing robe (if I may say so)with a long hat (again a Jodha Akbar reference, the song Kwaja mere...). Very unique indeed. Above all the music, a mix of Sufi, Classical and instrumentals make for a very relaxing experience.
Now for the most important aspect, FOOD.....well, Mocha has everything to offer you that a normal Cafe would and much more. Priced a little on the higher side, the crowd primarily comprises of working class youngsters rather college goers. Well, A premium always comes at a price.
Located in Kormangala and Lavelle Road, this place is a must have in your hot spots to visit list. Go on give it a try, worth every penny and makes for that perfect evening you were looking for.

CAFE MOCHA....a coffee revolution has begun....

P.S : BE sure to try the Cold Coffee (the only one available)..it's heavenly.For those in need for some breathing exercises there is the Sheesha's (The famed Hookah).

F1 season Twenty08………

The start to the much awaited 2008 season of F1 began with all the fanfare, speculations, reviews, analysis and the hype that is always a part of this glamorous sport. The Season began with round 1 at Albert Park, Melbourne Australia, a difficult track to race on with it’s counter-clockwise set up.
As expected the season started with a two way showdown at the top with the Ferrari’s and Mclaren’s trying to battle it out for the top honours. With round one going Mclaren’s way and Hamilton taking to the Winner’s Podium, the stage was set for what could be a very exciting season ahead. The surprise package of the season was the BMW team setting a slew of fast times in the qualifying and with Nick Hiedfeld finishing second in Albert Park, demonstrating that the BMW’s are no longer the middle runners they were known to be.
In round two, the scene shifted to the famed Sepang F1 circuit in the Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. One of the toughest races in the calendar for both Man and Machinery. The conditions being very hot and humid and to add to it a very technically challenging circuit was sure unfold a very promising and exciting race. With Traction control being taken off the cars for the season, the onus was now on the drivers to show their skills behind the wheels. The Ferrari’s of Raikkonen and Massa scorched the tracks during the Friday Free Practice and the Saturday Qualifying, with Massa taking Pole and Raikkonen second, giving the season’s first all Ferrari starting line up. With the Mclaren’s being penalized and pushed to row 4 and 5 of the grid for obstructing other cars during qualifying, the Ferrari’s seemed set for the First win of the season.
Going by the pace and the reliability of the Ferrari’s over the weekend, the race seemed to be a cakewalk for the scarlet red team. So it was, Kimi Raikkonen took the first win of the season. If not for Massa’s bit of over exuberance, it could have been a Ferrari one two.
The other talk of the town has been Vijay Mallya’s Force India. Does Force India have the Force to Power ahead a dying team, we can only know in the races to come. If the last two races are any indication to go by, it well might be a tough season ahead for the first ever Indian Outfit in F1.
So there it is, as anticipated the fight at the top between the Defending World Champions and the Team Mclaren continues from where it was left last season.
As the season progresses further, it sure promises to be a treat to all. With the 18 races and 22 cars battling it out, there are surely some fireworks in store.

Hard Rock Café …..Bengaluru

Another addition to the numerous watering holes in the city. Hard Rock Café, Bengaluru is perhaps the only Cafe of international fame to have set shop here. Located at the intersection of M G Road and St. Marks road of Metropolitan Bangalore, this place is sure to pull the crowd by the numbers.
Started way back in the seventies in erstwhile London, this quirky little American diner was catapulted to fame by none other than Eric Clapton – The Original Guitar God, who was a regular at this place and wanted the table earmarked for him by putting up a plaque or something of sorts. This is when the two Young enterprising proprietors Isaac Tigrett and Peter Morton requested (the request here was more of a chuckle) Clapton for his guitar to be put up, and as they say the rest is history.
This started the trend and guitars and memorabilia never stopped coming. Today there are more than 70,000 guitars, drums, pianos, harmonicas, microphones, shirts, pants, scarves, shoes, handwritten lyrics, cars, bikes, a bus and assorted rock memorabilia - by far, the largest, most valuable such collection in the world - on the walls of over 138 Hard Rock Cafes, Hotels and Casinos in 42 countries around the world.
Hard Rock Café, Bengaluru is setup is set up in colonial stone walled building with tiled roofs. This definitely adds a touch of history and grandeur to the place. The Café in total has about 9,000 Square foot of space which is divided into three distinct sections, this including a 100-seat restaurant, a bar area with more than 120 seats (there is also a stage just above the bar for those exhilarating live performances) and an open courtyard, as well as Hard Rock’s signature retail Rock Shop. The retail shop has some nice Hard Rock goodies in the form of T-shirts and some pretty good ones at that.
Hard Rock Café has some swanky clientele with the likes of students, Professional and foreign tourists and entrepreneurs alike. The feel and ambience at Hard Rock is definitely upbeat.
So if you are in the mood for some American Rock n Roll music and have that extra buck to spend, Hard Rock Café, Bengaluru is most definitely the place to be.

Hard Rock Café ………ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ada Hind Ki..........

Very Authentic Very Indian.....tradition in every sense of the word, that's ADA Hind ki for you. The latest addition to the already growing list of theme based restaurants in Bangalore, Ada Hind Ki serves you the most traditional of North Indian Food.
Located on Museum Road (this road should now be christened as the Food Street considering the number of restaurants on offer here)almost at the heart of the city, this place offers the perfect stopover for that sumptuous meal.
Ada Hind ki, the name epitomises tradition and so it is, from the very moment you drive up the well lit driveway onto the porch where a valet (infact quite a few of them) await you in folded hands and greet you with namaste (Well the valet then disappears with the car in a jiffy). As you walk up the flight of creaky and not too comforting stairs, a couple of beautiful women in traditional Indian Attire(again with folded hands and namaste) welcome you and make you feel absolutely at home.There is definitely a sense of royalty to the moment you set foot at Ada Hind Ki. If all this pampering and royalty was not enough, an overtly enthusiastic Waiter beckons you a big Namaste again.(seems like an overdose of tradition).
The restaurant has a smoking and non-smoking area, the smoking area being set in an open veranda. The Decor of the restaurant is great, primarily of wood. The wood being set in a dark tone and the equally well set lighting all add up to soothing feeling that is quite reminiscent of the restaurants these days.
The food served is definitely among the best in it's class, worth every penny that you shell out. Be it the the more the suave vegetarian or the more voracious meat eater, the cuisine here is sure to set anybody's taste buds on fire. Alright, so much so for the food, the drinks served here are most definitely on the expensive side. So, make sure you stick to the food, if you do not wish spend that extra buck.
An evening at Ada Hind Ki is definitely worth the buck and a true culinary experience. A meal for two would cost anywhere between Rs 1000 - Rs 1200 (this without the drinks).

Ada Hind Ki.......Truly Indian!!!!!!

Umerkot

One of the few places in Bangalore to serve authentic Mughlai cuisine. In a city where every third person is a IT professional, the response to such an event is remarkable.
Vahan Yatra.....there is nothing outlandish to the event as it name itself, but brings to you all the latest cars and bikes in town.
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_s59KZX45ikM/R1wlDIXAFUI/AAAAAAAAADM/QUrI-AHewyA/s320/DSCF0006.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5142025610264057154" />
The organizers have tried to every bit to showcase the event in lines of the top Auto Shows across the globe, but definitely a far cry.
All car that have made entry into the market in the later half of 2007 and those making a debut in the early part of 2008 are on display in various stalls allocated to the manufacturers.
The touch of attraction to the show would definitely have to be stall babes, novice in every sense, one look at these girls makes you feel sorry them. Posing beside these lavish vehicles and talking to people seems nothing less than an ordeal to these inexperienced girls. Perhaps the organizers should have paid more detail in this regard.
The stall that drew the most crowd was that of Skoda and the Yamaha.The Yamaha R1 standing in all it'd glory, the one stall to be photographed the most.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_s59KZX45ikM/R1wpdIXAFVI/AAAAAAAAADU/o72T-psrmI4/s320/DSCF0011.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5142030454987167058" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_s59KZX45ikM/R1wpeIXAFWI/AAAAAAAAADc/rhwEra04Erk/s320/DSCF0016.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5142030472167036258" />
Definitely worth a visit, but do not expect to much out of it. A battle it was, with each man trying to draw first blood. It was Kimi Raikkonen who was able to take the early advantage in the 4.3 Km Interlagos circuit. With Phillpe Massa taking the early lead and Hamilton making some ridiculous errors with some over aggressive driving (again showcasing the novice that he is) at the start of the race, gave Raikkonen the comfortable and safe second place behind Massa.
Hamilton suffered electronic problems with car, which further dropped him down the order to 17Th position.The top three Massa, Raikkonen and Alsono were heating up the pace, lining up for what could be a spectacular finish finish to this controversy marred season.Some great pit work by the Ferrari pit crew saw Raikkonen take the lead from Massa, the only possible way Ferrari could earn the Driver's Championship.
Ferrari's shrewd and timed pit stops ensured the order of the race stayed the same until the finish.Hamilton finished a distance seventh, thus squandering the title lead that he held until the penultimate race of the season.Well, this what we call the irony of life. Raikkonen thus went on take his Maiden F1 driver's championship and bringing the championship back to Ferrari after a gap of two years.With the Constructor's champiosnip already in the bag, this was a fairy tale ending for the scarlet red team.
At end of it all, it was Kimi Raikkonen, the least favourite of the top runners who took the championship from Mclaren by a solitary point.

THE BOYS FROM MARANELLO HAVE DONE IT AGAIN..........HAIL FERRARI!!!

Saigon.....

GAI HOR BAI THEY........IKAN PEPE........COM CHIN THAI CAN.......sounds like a dialogue straight out of a Jet li movie......makes you feel like you were in the middle of China Town.....Well, so did i, these syllables sound like an encrypted morse code...encrypted it is...but tasty nevertheless.........
Yeah, yeah....the first few lines definitely don't make sense. Ever wonder what a furore it would create if newspapers across the globe were to publish an article with this headline.

Robbed!!!! Well, quite to the literal sense of the word, is what Ferrari (F1) The team has felt all through this seaon.

Ever since the scandal surfaced (scandal involving the technical specifications of Ferrari's F1 cars to thier rivals- Mclaren)the team hasn't been quite the Ferrari we know off. The Prancing Horses seems to have been tamed by thier English Jockeys (Mclaren).

This season has been marred by controversy involving both teams, with ferrari going all out against their rivals in the ocurt of law.(Well fans would been lot more happy to have seen the same zeal on the race track).Ferrari has been sucessful in fishing out it's WhistleBlower (Nigel Stepney - The man who sold the Prancing Horse)but maybe the damage was already done.

So, is Mclaren running the Prancing Horse under the hood of the Three Pointed Star. Perhaps!!!!. So, is ferrari competeing against it's own self.Quite Possible. So, is Ferrari being made to fight against itself and draw it's own blood. Most Defintely yes. This has been evident all sesson with Ferrari trying to come up with a different car. A car more faster and reliable than their existing car (being used by Mclaren).I guess that was asking a little too much of the great car maker to develop and build two set of cars the same season. One for them and the other for their rivals.

Law took it course and found Mclaren quilty. The IAF meted out its punishment against them. Snatched away all the constructors points from them.A little solace for the scarlet team who's ego had been battered.Nevertheless, the championship is still at stake.

So, at the end of the season will it be the Prancing Horse that soars or the 3 pointed Star that shines in all it's glory. Only time will tell.

FORZA FERRARI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
