Pick a look and feel, that will fit in with your specific lifestyle and personality. Try and keep a continuous theme to go with the rest of your snowboarding gear, as this will enable you to create a stunning-looking image that others will just love.

A slim jacket will fit well and slim you down, while baggy jackets provide more than enough room to stack up on layering underneath. This makes it the perfect jacket for cold, climatic conditions. Puffy jackets are usually made from down or a down-type alternative. Fortunately they don't sacrifice weight for warmth. Love having pockets? Many jackets come with plenty of pockets to keep all your goodies stashed away. Some jackets even come with pass holders, so there is no need to take your gloves off.

There are also mens snowboarding jackets available with features like: strategic ventilation, elbow and arm padding, as well as an arm design that is specifically contoured to enhance a proper riding posture. If you are the sporty type, it will be wise to invest in special protective vests or torso gear to offer added protection and absorb impact. If you have a history of back trouble then I strongly encourage you to invest in a specialty back support garment to wear underneath your snowboard jacket.

Just keep one thing in mind, when all is said and done, you must feel and look good and be super comfortable in your newly acquired mens snowboard jacket. Most of all, it must keep you warm and dry! There is a wide range of styles, materials and well-known brand names to choose from, such as burton snowboard jackets, volcom snowboard jackets, roxy snowboard jackets and insulated snowboard jackets.
Nikita women's snowboarding pants are very natural and are it an avid snowboarder, a fashion victim or one or both of these, there is much to offer from Nikita in terms of outerwear.
You ventured into extreme snowboarding. Now you are on dangerous terrain. Apart from making sure that you applied to the safety requiements, you must know how to dress properly for your extreme snowboard expiditon. This will help protect you from the unhuman, most gruelling and challenging conditions outside.

The first step would be to acquire a topnotch, insulated snowboard jacket. Many jackets on the market provide light weight insulation combined with ample space to layer up on the inside. Several layers underneath your jacket will keep you warm but won't restrict your movement. Thermal underwear will do the trick and items made of fleece and wool will keep the heat in and the cold out. They are also super waterproof, windproof and breathable. What more can you ask for?

NEVER EVER BE WITHOUT YOUR HELMET. No buts or ifs on this one. This must be your number one safety priority. Underneath the helmet you can wear a knit hat for extra warmth. Your helmet must be properly fitted as this can ensure that you never encounter head injuries. Most of the major snowboarding competitions requires a helmet made of reinfroced steel and other safety precautions.

Next, protect your eyes with sunglasses or goggles to keep the sun out and your vision clear. Never risk exposing your eyes to the sun's damaging UV-rays. Trendy looking sunglasses and goggles are available on the cyber shelves to suit your taste. Ultra-stylish and good-looking you'll be the talk of the snowboarding slopes.

Your boots is also an important item not to be overlooked and must be strapped on properly, to support your feet and ankles. It must however still allow sufficient movement and thermal socks will keep your feet warm and cosy. Many of them offer cushioned heels to keep vibrations down to a minimum.

Pick superior snowboard gear that fits in with the level of extreme snowboarding you're involve in and will enable peak and optimal performance.
The risks involved in skiing and snowboarding far outweigh a relaxing holiday on the beach. This is why it is more expensive to get travel insurance for a holiday in which you plan to partake in winter sports. A lot of people however, are continuing to head off on their skiing or snowboarding holidays without adequate travel insurance. By leaving themselves unprotected, they could be facing huge medical bills if anything were to happen while they were away.

Aside from the obvious causes for concern when going on a winter sports holiday, there are also other problems which could result in your holiday being ruined. Going on a winter holiday means you are taking the risk that your holiday could be cancelled due to adverse weather conditions. You will still be at risk of theft or loss of luggage. As everyone who's ever gone on one of these holidays will know, skis, snowboards, and other equipment associated with these sports, are extremely expensive. If yours were to get stolen, you would want to have a suitable insurance plan in place. A skiing or snowboarding holiday can also sometimes result in serious or even life threatening injuries. It is imperative therefore, that you take out a travel insurance plan before jetting off to the slopes.

A lot of people rely on the European Health Insurance Card which will cover you for either free medical treatment or discounted medical treatment in the same way that the nationals would get. This cover only applies to medical treatments and will not cover you for loss of luggage, cancelling of holidays or theft. It will also not cover you should you require the services of an air ambulance which could cost you or your family thousands should it need to be utilised.

It really is worth paying out that little bit extra for a good comprehensive travel insurance package before you go on any winter sports holiday. It can give you the security that should anything disastrous happen, you will be looked after and your family will not have to worry about the huge financial burden that could occur. To be on the safe side, before you head off, make sure you are fully covered for any activities which you think you may participate in. You wouldn't want to get there only to discover your travel insurance does not cover you for simple activities such as skiing on the nursery slopes!

Always remember to check exactly what your policy covers with your insurer.
One of the best ways to get in shape and stay in shape is by training for a physical activity that you really enjoy. It is easier to motivate and stay committed to your workouts knowing that it will allow you to have more fun on the slopes. I hope this post encourages you to go out, get a snowboard setup, and start snowboarding each season. It is a very rewarding sport and a great way to stay in shape during the cold months, when 75% of weight gain occurs during the year!

So you are ready to start snowboarding, but how do you choose a snowboard if you are a beginner? The first question to ask yourself is "What kind of snowboarding activities do you want to learn?" and "Where will you be riding and what are the snow conditions like usually?"

Most people just want to snowboard, but keep in mind what direction you think you are most likely to head in; freestyle (trick in the park/pipe), groomed trails, deep powder, racing, or all of the above. If you are not sure, an "all mountain board" is a safe bet, and what most people start out with because it is versatile and allows you to try different things. I didn't get a more specialized set up until my second time around.

Below are some practical guidelines to keep in mind while doing research. Be sure to write down any questions you may have and consult a pro at your local shop. This is the best way to pick out a board for the first time, as a good snowboard store/company should have someone knowledgeable on hand to answer your questions. I would avoid buying online, unless you have already tried out your setup in person and are sure it is the right one.

I would also check out the buyer's guide from Transworld Snowboarding Magazine, which is really awesome! I buy it every year, even if I am not on the market for a new board, because I love reading about it. They do a "Good Wood" test (many boards have a wood core), in which they test a bunch of boards that have no branding elements on them so the testers are unbiased. Highly recommended reading 

One other bit of advice; many major snowboard companies will have demo days at certain ski resorts. You can demo your new set up for a fee, before having to purchase. If you have the time and money, this is the best way to be sure your new set up will be perfect.

Feet First

The first step is to stop thinking about the actual snowboard, and start thinking with your feet! Your boots are the foundation of a good snowboard setup. If your boot's aren't comfortable, you will not be able to perform well, in fact it will be hard to have fun at all. A little toe pain goes a long way when it comes to snowboarding. Also, the size of the boot is going one factor in determining the size of the board, so boots first. Your boots, once strapped into your binding, shouldn't stick out over the edge of the board, otherwise you risk TOE DRAG.

Before trying on boots, make sure that you cut your toe nails. Your boots should be very snug, but not tight or uncomfortable. The boots will pack out a tiny bit when broken in, but not more than maybe a ½ a size, probably less.

It is recommended to try on several brands, as each one cuts the shape of their cut differently, and uses different technology and materials to create a certain fit. There are different lacing systems, different amounts of shocking absorption materials, and even different shapes depending on your style of riding. Some of the boots will have heat molding; you can take out the inner boot, heat it up, and mold it around your foot.

Bindings Next

Your binding's need to fit perfectly with your boots to assure optimal performance and safety. Most brands of bindings in will work with most brands of boots, but I think it is a good idea to pick out the boots first, and then buy the same brand of bindings. I would also pick a board from the same brand too, just to keep things simple, as there are certain brands like Burton who have some boards that are only compatible with their own bindings.

Bindings come in different shapes, sizes, and materials; in general, the lighter/stronger ones will be more expensive. Try finding bindings that are easy to use and avoid using plastic parts, which often break in the cold. You should also be able to adjust your binding easily and take them off easily.

A quick note, I would completely avoid step-in binding/boot systems. These basically allow you to step onto your board and be secured to it without having to strap on the bindings. The convenience you get from saving 20 seconds strapping in is far less valuable than the cost of performance you will endure the rest of your time on the mountain.

Board Sizing

Picking the right size board depends on 4 main factors; * How wide is your foot? * How tall are you? * How much do you weigh? * What is your riding style and ability?

If you have a size 11 or larger, you will most likely need a wide board to avoid toe drag. Not all boards come in wide sizes. There are some boots now that are specifically designed to decrease the overall length of the boot, so people who can almost fit on a regular width board can wear these boots and don't have to buy a wider board.

For quicker turning, transitioning from heel to toe edges, and more control (especially on groomed/hard pack trails), a narrower board a good sidecut is key. (Sidecut is the shape of the edge of the board). For floating on powder, a a slightly wider board is great. For freestyle riders doing tricks in the park, a shorter board makes it easier to rotate, and a twin tip board is ideal. (Twin tip boards allow are shaped exactly symmetrical, which makes switch stance riding easier).

Again, most first timers will want to buy an all mountain board, which has a relatively symmetrical shape, but if you know you are going to be focused on riding in deep powder, you may want to get a more specialized board for that (which will be longer, have have a much longer/wider nose, and much shorter narrower tail, which helps to sink the tail into the powder and keep the nose and board afloat.)

This is a pretty cool calculator for finding the right size board. I wouldn't trust it blindly, but it will definitely put you in the right ball park: http://www.frostyrider.com/tips/size-guide.htm

Board Options & Technology

There are allot of options and styles of boards with new technology coming out each year. Camber and Reverse Camber boards are currently the hottest new trend. These boards play with the shape of the board by adding rocker. Essentially, all board used to be slightly convex to the ground, but now companies are making boards that are perfectly flat or concave to the ground. Some companies are playing with multiple kinds of camber in the same board. As a beginner, I wouldn't worry too much about this technology unless you know you want to be a freestyle snowboarder. But let me say that I love my new board's reverse camber design; I find it makes flat landing slightly more forgiving, and helps me pop my ollies.

Goofy Versus Regular

If you skateboard, wakeboard, or surf, you know already what stance you like. There are 2 good tests for determining whether you are goofy or regular (Left foot forward or right foot forward). One is to run and slide against a slippery floor on your sock. Which foot do you naturally foot forward ? That is your front foot. The other test is to have someone push you while standing, which leg do you put backward? That is your back food. Don't think to much when doing these tests, just let your body react.

Take a Stance

You have the option to put your stance narrower or wider, and to turn out each foot to different angles, and on some new boards, the ability to move your stance forward or backward (closer to one of the edges.) A great way to determine your stance is to (once you are a little warmed up) jump up as high as you can and try and land silently. Your body will automatically put you in the position that you are most powerful in. How wide are your feet? How turned out is each foot? This will be pretty close to your ideal stance, although you may want to turn your back leg inward slightly if you are not planning on riding switch (with your opposite foot forward pointing downhill) to make you more comfortable on the board.

Seasonal Rentals & Pricing

One other thing to keep in mind; you may want to get a seasonal rental instead of purchasing a board your first year round. Snowboarding can be totally zen, but it is equipment, money, and time intensive, and conditions vary on the weather. If it is your first season, investing in buying a board may not be the best decision.

Many snowboard shops will have seasonal rentals. If you think you want to buy a setup, a good idea is to buy really comfortable boots and then get a seasonal rental for the board and bindings. There may be an option to buy that board at the end of the season for a discount, and if not, you can pick out another board at the end of the season for a major discount. (Late March and April, a lot of equipment will be on sale, sometime for 50% off or more!)

In general, this is a great time to purchase equipment and clothing for snowboarding, if you can make it throughout the season without needing anything too much. I bought my boots for 30% off in April, my gloves for 50% off in May, my jacket for %05 off, and my pants for 30% off. Major savings 

Of course, if you want a very popular board or boot in a popular size, there is very little chance that it will be waiting for you at a discount, so keep that in mind. 

Surf the Earth

Now you are all set, and armed with information to pick out a great first setup and experience an amazing sport. Snowboarding is total zen and one of the best ways to spend time outside in nature during the cold months. If you are just getting started, I encourage you to get in the gym and start training for your time on the mountain. The more conditioned you are, the more fun you will have.

In general, there is a 3 day learning curve for snowboarding, and I highly recommend taking a lesson the first day and not trying to keep up with your friends. You should be linking turns and transitioning from your heel edge to your toe edge by the end of the first day, although this will vary from person to person. (Most people will do what's called a "falling leaf" in the beginning, which allows them to maintain control but prevents you from learning proper technique.)

Ideally, your first trip should be somewhere with fresh snow (for softer falls and slower "learning" conditions), and should put you on the mountain for 3 days in a short period of time (as long as you are relatively in shape.) If you go 1 day a season, and wait a year to go again, that 3 day learning curve gets way longer.

I know you will find that snowboarding is a rewarding sport that will allow you to stay in shape and connected with nature during the cold months of the year.
But their composition and planning methods are quite different. Women's ski boots are a little leaner in cuff heights, contouring and have thick cushion for better foothold. The liner padding and forward flex also varies vaguely. Cuffs are sited bit lower, as the calf muscle of lady is lower positioned than that of man.
http://snowboardingjackets.org

At first, it was difficult and costly to manufacture specialized ski boots for girls. But with augmenting number of women collaborating in skiing activities, countless brands have come up with ski boots for women. Brands like Rossignol, Technica, Lange and Salomon, produce prime quality ski boots for women. Now, there are wide varieties of girls's ski boots widely available in the stores and at affordable prices.

Technica ladies's boots have Velcro straps and tough velvety lining around the ankle.

Few ladies prefer custom made ski boots. While placing order for such boots, study in detail as what features need to be included in boots. Direct the mender to keep lifted heels. Such heel helps to broadcast the energy at tip and concentrates the center point of gravity over the skier. Change the cuff height as specified by the comfort and necessities. The ankle flex must be softer. The shell material employed in ski boots for ladies can be either made of leather, polyester or some artificial leather. Go for aluminum buckles in ski boots which are more durable.

Comfort of the foot is entirely dependent on footbed. So footbed needs to be made from soft materials. Ultimately, it's vital to consider these points, because skiers are the one who have to feel comfortable while skiing.
The most important thing's to keep in mind are is it water explanation and will it keep me warm. Clearly if you're a novice you will also want to purchase some wrist guards and kneepads.

http://snowboardingjackets.org

The general rule when dressing for winter weather is to dress in layers and snowboarding isn't an exception. Thin layers which you can easily remove if need be are best. The main function being to keep you dry and maintain body temperature. To start get some polypropylene long undies. These are great as they're soft against your skin, wick away moisture and dry fast. A thin turtle neck, a sweater and a vest complete this layer.

Next up is the insulating layer. Which as the name suggests is all about keeping you warm. Ideally you need a pair of insulated and water proof pants. But if you can't find insulated wearing an extra pair of pants or tights underneath them will help. Make sure that the pants fit comfortably over your boots.

A must have is sun block. As is a pair of UV sunglasses or goggles to protect your eyes. With safety in mind you'll also wish to have a helmet for all the times you fall off your board. Naturally you might want to listen to some tunes in which case you will need an ipod. The most important things being water proofing and the capability to keep you warm. You also don't want to forget protecting gear, helmet, wrist guards and kneepads. All that's left for me to say is see you on the slopes. .
It's a large amount of fun and intensely exciting to ride down the slopes, exploring limitless tricks and feeling the adrenaline pumping in your body.
http://wakeboardzone.org

However before you are able to do ride like an expert, you may have to beat the fundamentals. Here's a few things that will make your snowboarding a far more enjoyable experience :
*Always choose a board that's's the right size for you. For the width, the board should be just as wide as your boots standing across the top.

The alpine board is of a thicker and heavier type to give a smooth ride, while the freestyle board is shorter and simpler to maneuver. *The garments you wear also have a great result on your snowboarding pleasure. In this manner you can move easily but you don't risk to have the garments getting caught in anything.
When you are all set for the slopes, don't forget to start off slowly. My advice is getting at least one lesson to begin with. Rather than'crashing and burning' like I did my first time, a lesson can save you heaps of bumps and bruises!

Here is one of the most important keys to get the most out of snowboarding, be present and relaxed. I found that snowboarding could be a really magical experience of being in the instant. It's so pleasant to feel each movement, twist and turn while you are riding down the hill.
Another good tip is to practice tricks with friends, even if you've been snowboarding for some time and know a few tricks it's a smart idea to have somebody nearby so that you can look after one another. It's not only fun to do things together, it's also a way to enhance your skill. By sharing your tricks with one another you are learning becomes both quicker and less complicated.

Don't lose out on the amazing experience that snowboarding can be. Prepare and experience the exciting moments on the slopes!
Why not both?

When you book a snowboarding holiday, probably the last thing you'll be thinking about is elephants, lions and giraffes.

Likewise, when you're planning an African safari, the last thing that will probably cross your mind is 'how am I going to fit my board in the 4x4 and did I pack my goggles?'

If you want to combine fast-paced boarding action with out-of-this-world safari experiences, then we recommend the Skeleton Coast in Namibia

The Skeleton Coast is part of the world's oldest desert, but far from being a dusty void, it has the most amazing coastline and the wildlife here is incredible.

After camping on the beach, we can organise a short trip inland on the back of a jeep and you'll be spotting rare game before you know it.

And for those pining for the slopes, we recommend a spot of sandboarding to keep the post-safari adrenaline pumping.

Swakopmund is known as the adventure capital of Namibia for good reason, but for those of you who are unsure about hurtling down the dunes at breakneck speed, we can arrange for a world-class instructor to show you the ropes.

We think that variety is the spice of life, so why not let us combine two totally extreme experiences into a single heart-thumping holiday for you?

Are you searching for a way to help improve your knee stability or to reduce pain when you ski or snowboard?

Introduction : Skiing and snowboarding are one of the most intense activities which a person can do because it uses the entire body to perform. Your legs are one of the areas which are the most frequently used with skiing and snowboarding and they can also be the most easily damaged. The knees, in particular, are subject to extreme injury as they are one of the most delicate areas of the body. By using knee support skiers and snowboards you can help to make sure that you do not let an injury get the better of you!

1.) Injuries on The Slopes

Skiing and snowboarding involves a great deal of twisting and leaning of the body while gliding down the slopes. This action of twisting can often cause damage to your knee and its anatomical structures. This can cause a sprain in the tendons or the ligaments or even potentially cause the patella to become dislocated. Any of these things happening will prevent the knee from supporting weight and may possibly prevent it from bending. In more extreme cases, such as a dislocated kneecap or a torn ligament, the knee may wobble from side to side because the knee can feel very unstable.

2.) Skiing & Snowboarding Knee Braces

Using skiing or snowboarding knee braces can help to hold the knee in a more safe position. A knee brace will not prevent mobility, however. A person will still have a full range of motion at their knee, unless their doctor advises against this... The use of a well designed brace will only prevent you from moving your knee in a way which is likely to cause damage.

3.) Knee Supports Can Be Low Profile

Knee supports can be worn directly under your clothing (unless you wear super tight pants etc.) This makes them much more accessible to anyone who is skiing or snowboarding. Currently, knee supports are not so big and bulky, and they are quite effective. This kind of support can help people when they need improved stability and protection.

4.) Affordable Supports

The good news is, knee braces are much more affordable than they once were. It is highly advisable to use this knee brace for any situation where you might feel that your knees could potentially be harmed. Every situation, from slipping and falling to smacking the knee into something could damage this delicate joint and someone who enjoys skiing and/or snowboarding will want to make sure that they knees are always as healthy as can be. This is why braces can be such a good investment.
There are a wide variety of waxes that are available and you will want to choose the best one that will work for you and your board. Don't forget about the waxing tools that you will need; they can make your job a little easier.

Snowboard waxes come in bars, sprays, and rub-on types. You will want to choose whatever you think will be the easiest for you to work with. Some people have problems with different types of waxes and other types work better for them. This is what you will need to determine for yourself. Waxing your snowboard is similar to that of waxing a surfboard; so if you have had experience in the past with waxes and surfboards, then use your experience with that sport in the sport of snowboarding.

If you don't know how to wax your snowboard, you can purchase books that will teach you the ins and outs of waxing a snowboard. Don't forget either that by doing a search on the internet you will be able to find guides and advice from others. You can also find videos that you are able to watch and learn firsthand on how to wax your snowboard. Depending upon your learning style, you will want to purchase, study, or view whatever is easier for you to understand and that will help to let you grasp the concept of waxing your snowboard.

Snowboard wax is fairly inexpensive to buy; however there are other products that you will want to purchase so that your job will be easier. For example, the purchase of a wax iron or grasp clamps that will help to hold your board, can prove to be in your best interest. If you are not for sure about what all you will need, don't be afraid to ask someone who knows, whether it is a friend, your coach or the sales person at the snowboarding shop. Taking advice from others will help you to understand, help you to learn and help you to accomplish this task to the best of your abilities.

Yes, this can be a difficult subject to learn, but as with anything else, practice makes perfect. The more you perform the task of waxing your snowboard, then the easier that it will become for you each and every time that you do it. Don't be afraid to do it as you will not tear anything up; however, if you don't do it, then the life of your snowboard can be drastically reduced. Waxing your snowboard is definitely a must. There is no getting around it if you want your investment to last a long time. This is just normal maintenance for your board, just like changing the oil in your car. If you don't change the oil, your car will not last very long. If you don't wax your snowboard, then it's a given that your snowboard will not last very long.
LAAX has hosted all the big events in snowboarding and skiing, welcoming thousands of tourists from around the globe each week. LAAX was one of the first major skiing locations to get on the map, when in the 70s skiing holidays started to rise in popularity for western travelers - LAAX was right their, waiting to ride the wave. Millions of visitors later, LAAX are renowned for their 3rd slalom known only as "Death Mountain" by some. With glaring views down the steep, tangling mountain-side it is no wonder "Death Mountain" scares even the most resilient of skier.

With excellent facilities for everyone LAAX recently hosted the snowboarding world open, in which over 10,000 people took part from 60 countries around the world. An interesting element of this was that over 100 entries came from south Asia and Africa showing the rise of the sport, and the exposure of the location on a global scale. LAAX was voted number 1 skiing location around the world, by "Ski Press Magazine" that also notes LAAX as having the third best Snowboarding facilities and, as being the best new comer to Freestyle snowboarding. The popularity of LAAX, has also lead to continued investment from the company operating the slope, building an amazing ski lift that can handle weights of over 80 tonnes as it climbs 30 000 feet up the mountain face. The ski lift's unique attribute is its balancing technology that allows the ski lift to carry massive amounts of weight disproportionately whilst keeping a balanced angle and speed.

The popularity of LAAX is not just shared by avid skiers and snowboarders. Top music names and DJs also come to LAAX to experience the amazing events first hand. With the rise of snowboarding many of these musicians feel they can appeal to a certain audience out on the slopes, especially under the cover of darkness, with only flood lights keeping the mountains alive. The DJs provide entertainment as the crowd snowboard and ski into the morning sunlight. The views and the experience are utterly amazing, and are a sure way to ensure top class entertainment for the young travelers who visit LAAX.

However it is not only the night-time DJ sets and fireworks that sparkle for the young skiers; there are also plenty of locations tailored to their needs off the slopes as well. With local pubs, clubs and even swimming pools the young ones are sure to enjoy themselves off the snowy mountains of LAAX. Despite being an amazing location for younger skiers the location also appeals to those who have never been skiing before. They have multi-lingual training facilities and indoor centres where they train first-time skiers up before taking them to the slopes. They also have amazing training facilities for advanced skiers, facilities that would undoubtedly be used by the world's top skiers and snowboarders at the world events that are held at the slope almost every year.

The local hotels and accommodation are amazing because unlike most skiing locations, they don't limit the skiers and snowboarders to a single choice. There are youth hostels that are perfect for those looking to ski on the cheap; there are 5 star hotels for those looking to live the lap-of-luxury and there are many options in between. LAAX is home to more than just pubs, clubs and swimming pools, with banks and supermarkets also at realistic walking distance. LAAX is said to be at its peak during August, however this is said to be true for most of Europe's top, skiing locations. That is why it is advisable to find a quieter time to visit, preferably a short time following the busy spell. The great thing about coming after the peak is that you are able to come for around half the price of another time of the year.
If everything on your snowboard is working properly then gaining fast speeds and laying down precise curves on the turns should be easy. A properly turned snowboard is more predictable than one that is on the "outs". Yes, you can pay someone to do this for you; however, you just don't want to hire anyone. Don't open your phonebook and choose someone without knowing the type of work that they do. Snowboards are expensive and if they mess up, it will ruin your prized possession. Ask other snowboarders who does the work for them; usually they will be able to recommend someone who is perfect for the job. Paying to have your snowboard tuned to perfection will cost you around $20-$40; however, it is possible that you can do it on your own, if you know how.

To properly tune your snowboard there are several things that you will need to do. To begin with you will want to set up a couple of sawhorses in an area that has plenty of ventilation and room to work. Then you will want to remove the bindings; however, this is actually not necessary but it will be easier for you to work on the board if they are out of your way. Next, you will want to take some window cleaner and paper towels to wipe down and clean your snowboard to the best of your ability with using only that product. Now comes the real stuff. You will want to use some base cleaner and some rags to give your snowboard an even more thorough cleaning than before. This step right here is why you want a very well ventilated area because the fumes from the base cleaner are very strong and not to mention, they are highly flammable. So do not do this around any type of open flame.

Keep on using the base cleaner until you can determine that it is no longer removing any type of wax or ground in dirt. Then, with the base up, use a knife to dig out any type of small rocks or stones that may have been embedded into the board. When doing this, make sure that you do not dig down into the core of the board, because that is a whole different type of repair.

Wipe the board down with acetone once done and then wait fifteen minutes or so for the fumes to disappear before continuing on. Now, use a torch and your p-tex candle. Insert the candle into the blue flame on the torch and use the metal scraper to scrape away any melting soot from the candle. Take the melting p-tex and apply to the repair area of the board. When all holes are filled, let the board cool down for approximately twenty minutes before continuing on. Now, use the metal scraper to scrap away excess repair p-tex until the board is smooth once again. You may have to do this at several different angles to achieve the desired effect. Use a scotchbrite pad to smooth out the base of the board in long, even strokes. Now, use a filing tool to remove any burs along the metal edge. Finally, wax your board to seal in all of the repairs and to make your board look like new.

Most of the time these snowboards have been developed from the youth series that the company has to offer. The mini snowboards offer the snowboarders more maneuverability and versatility when it comes to their performance. With leading industry technology and materials, the mini snowboards can stand up to their full grown counterparts; however, some riders really do prefer the smaller version while at the park trying to turn those tricks.

That's right. All of your top brands offer a mini trick snowboard. Companies such as Burton, Rossignol and Capita offer the smaller design snowboards that work great for those days when you are at the park just trying to play around with all of the stunts and tricks that the elements at the park have to offer. The cost of these mini boards can be a lot less than that of their grown companions; however, you can still expect to pay around $150 to a little less than $300 for the mini snowboards, depending on the brand of course.

The smaller size of the mini snowboards allows the rider to perform tricks better. The snowboards are a lighter weight board than the full size boards. The mini boards are highly flexible and allow the rider to have versatility and more maneuverability in those tight spaces and turns. The mini snowboards offer the centered stance position, which allows the snowboarder to maintain balance better, to apply more pressure in the center of the board while on the rails and boxes and just overall gives the rider more control in the park setting.

The mini snowboards are usually a combination snowboard that is designed for freestyle and freeride; however, you can still find the ones that offer the option of all mountains as well. You don't have to just keep these little boards in the park; they can handle the powder as well. You have to remember that the mini snowboards are usually the youth version and kids too like the mountain.

So, if you are looking for that shorter, lighter weight snowboard that will help you to improve your maneuverability, then a mini snowboard is the way to go, especially for the snowboarding parks. They can help you to up your game and to shine above the competition. You may have a small board but the impact will be large. You will definitely command the attention when you are performing the best tricks of your life because you don't have that added weight or the length of a normal snowboard to worry about. Your versatility and maneuverability will improve with the smaller snowboard and you will be able to make those tight turns and quick little flips and tricks that are sure to make you stand out among your competition. The smaller snowboard may take some time for you to get used to; however, once you have tried the smaller snowboard for playing in the park, you might not ever want to go back to its full grown companion.
As you would expect, preparations in Team GB are already well advanced with the team expecting to take a squad of around 50 athletes to compete in the 11 of the 15 sporting disciplines that make up the Games. The short list of potential attendees will be submitted to the British Olympic Authority by SnowsportGB during 2009, but final selection will not be finalised until January 2010.

Snowboarding is one of those sports where Team GB will compete for medals. It is a discipline that has seen a huge growth in interest over recent years. Back at the 2002 Games in Salt Lake City, Team GB only had one snowboarding competitor and four years later, at Torino, Lesley McKenna was joined by Kate Foster and Dan Wakeham, with all three athletes competing in the halfpipe event.

At Vancouver, Team GB will again contest the halfpipe events in addition to the freestyle and snowboardcross competitions, where Zoe Gillings is expected to lead the women's team. Dan Wakeham recently announced his retirement from competition, but there is plenty of young talent moving through the ranks ready to take his place on the team.

In the same way some other Olympic sports, like track cycling, have dramatically improved their profile on the back of lottery funding and better commercial involvement, snowboarding is also already on an upward curve. Certainly, lottery funding has been a big bonus, particularly as GB competitors need to undertake training programmes which invariably involve the expense of foreign travel and accommodation. We are not blessed with the geography and climatic conditions that make snowboarding a very accessible sport in the UK, so another factor fuelling the interest in the sport is the improvement in indoor facilities at home in the form of "real snow" winter sports centres.

It's not just the GB Olympic team that is getting press coverage at the moment. Kwame Nkrumah-Acheampong also known as The Snow Leopard is the only member of the Ghanaian ski team. It may seem unusual, but Kwame is planning to compete in next year's Winter Olympics and has struck a year-long deal with The Snow Centre, in Hemel Hempstead. The Centre will support his intense training schedule in advance of next year's Winter Games in Vancouver.

The Snow Centre, in Hemel Hempstead, is the newest of several indoor snow resorts now operating in the UK. The location of this new facility is important as it brings indoor snowboarding very close to the huge catchment area of London and the South East, which previously had to make do with outdoor artificial ski slopes. These artificial slopes were acceptable for ski training but for freestyle snowboarding, involving high jumps and landings, only a real snow surface will suffice. As well as providing our Olympic athletes with the potential to train more frequently and conveniently, the centre also opens up the sport at the grass root level to a whole new generation of future boarders. The children learning the basics on one of The Snow Centre's training courses could be the future Olympic hopefuls in years to come.
Snowboarders from across the South of England are welcome to try out the "Park and Ride" snowboard freestyle nights, where centre staff design and build a new park layout each week.

The course features a variety of hips, rails, boxes and kickers to suit novices as well as challenging more experienced boarders. The centre has a range of hard items and the benefit of unlimited snow to build any type of layout they choose, and, based on feedback from visitors, the courses are designed fresh each week. Construction of the course layout starts with a draft plan before the hard work commences on thursdays. Using tonnes of fresh snow the various features are built, tested, tweeked and made perfect before the skiers and snowboarders arrive. Each week is different and the layouts are getting more exciting and challenging as the course builders take on feedback and the boarders get more accomplished.

The main freestyle night is on Friday when snowboarders can use the slope for 4 hours for a cost of £35. If the full four hours is too much then a shorter two hour session is priced at £25. A shorter freestyle session is also held on Saturday evening between 8 pm and 10 pm which also costs £25.

For complete beginners who would like to try out freestyle snowboarding but haven't tried the sport before, the centre offers a complete day of ski or snowboard instruction. This full seven hour day includes lunch and dinner and takes new snowboarders from the absolute basics through to level one technique.

For high jumpers who want to try out risky manoeuvres the centre has also arranged for certain Freestyle Fridays to include the Airbag - a huge inflatable bag to cushion landings. The Airbag will feature once every month with dates published on The Snow Centre website for months up to February 2010. There is a small additional charge for use of the airbag.

The Friday evening freestyle session has been running for a few months now and is already proving very popular. The centre advises anyone wishing to attend to call and reserve a slot beforehand if possible. Qualified Snow Centre staff are on hand to offer advice, tips and keep things safe, but boarders and skiers need to have reached level 5 ability to be allowed into the session. Details of what level 5 ability entails is provided on the Centre's website.

In early June one of the FBBB Tour '09 events (For boarders By Boarders) was held at The Snow Centre, featuring competitions, balcony party and DJ music. Results of the competitions are now on the FBBB website.

The Snow Centre has a further range of instruction courses to take advantage of the 130 qualified snow sports instructors it has available to it. Full details of programmes and session timetables are available on the centre's website www.thesnowcentre.com
While fashion is indeed one of the considerations that come into play when choosing women's ski pants, functionality sometimes overrules this point. Women these days do not have to worry much about these two factors when it comes to choosing their ski pants since most of the ski pants that are made for women now incorporate superior functionality with a superb fashion sense and design.

Different Kinds of Ski Pants Women Can Choose From

When choosing the right kind of women's ski pants for yourself, you can be sure that most of these choices have both functionality and fashion in their designs. Here are some of the more popular kinds of pants for skiing you can choose from when you are out looking for a new pair of ski pants to buy or looking for that first pair to try out on the slopes:

- Racing Ski Pants. These pants are low friction lower wear for skiing and are made for speed. These pants are often the choice of professional skiers who love it for the aerodynamics and the fit of these tighter pairs of skiing pants. These are not used much by recreational skiers however since these are not too warm to wear and are actually pretty thin. Usually, these kinds of pants come as a part of a full body suit or as the lower part of a two piece set.

- Recreational Ski Pants. These are another kind of women's ski pants that you might want to check out. These kinds of pants are often what most skiers wear due to the agility and comfort that they provide. Since these pants are versatile enough, they can even be worn for a lot of other different winter sports. You can wear your recreational ski pants for snowboarding, sledding, winter hiking, and other similar winter activities. These pants are often water and wind proof.

- Insulated Pants. The women's ski pants that belong to this category often offer wearers the kind of warmth that other pants cannot. These pants can be purchased in styles that may or may not have suspenders. The insulation materials used in these pants also vary according to what the manufacturer wishes to use. An example of a form of insulation that is used for these women's ski pants is fleece. These are usually found underneath a waterproof outer surface.

- Shell Pants. Women's ski pants that belong to this category are sure to be one of two types, whether it's soft shell or hard shell. Soft shell pants are usually just water resistant, not waterproof like hard shell types, but are more breathable or allow for better flow of air in and out of the body. Each type is better for certain conditions. For example, hard shell pants work better for conditions that are colder and more snowy while soft shell pants are better used for warmer days on the snow.
Therefore you need to put some thought into choosing your ski or snowboarding goggles carefully.

Without goggles, there could be nothing worse than twigs, ice particles and other debris being flipped up while you are moving at speed. Added to this danger, is the need to protect yourself against UV rays and the effects of strong bright light on your visual acuity means you shouldn't attempt such sports without goggles.

Fogging can be a huge problem with some skiing and snowboarding goggles. To help avoid fogging, you need to have multiple lenses and these should be adequately vented to let fresh air circulate inside the goggles.

Most people are now aware that you need high UV protection in their sunglasses, but this is also the case with goggles, and a minimum of 95% should be achieved as most now have closer to 100%. Basically, if your ski or snowboarding goggles are old, check the level of UV protection.

Make sure your goggles are a good snug fit and allow for good peripheral vision. The straps should be padded and adjustable and the inside of the goggles also padded to help avoid serious injury should you fall heavily. If you wear prescription lenses, you can either get goggles made up to match or simply make sure that the goggles fit well over your glasses and are remaining comfortable.

When you chose the lens colour, this should be done on the basis of the conditions you would likely expect to ski or snowboard in. As to which colour for which condition, you will find there is some margin of dispute over this. It is generally considered that in darker conditions that clear or yellow lenses are helpful, but in a low to medium light perhaps a rose tint. In moderate lights amber, gold or yellow are good as they will help filter out part of the blue light spectrum. Contrast can be improved in bright conditions with green and silver tints but if it is a really sunny, bright day you will find that black lenses won't distort the colours. A blue lens will also be good on a sunny day.

If you are worried about which make, you will find the well known brands such as Oakley, Bloc, Electric, Bolle and Spy will all fit the bill. Choose your ski and snowboarding goggles with some thought and enjoy your sport in safety.
Burton snowboards have been making sure boarders get the best ride down the slopes for many years. Burton's reliability and credibility are etched in stone. Two boards you may consider are the Burton Bullet and Baron.

The Burton Bullet has a giving side cut and snappy flex which offers increased pop and an incredible ride for a wide board. This all combines to give you a fast, responsive, versatile, snowboarding experience.

The Burton Bullet is constructed with a wider waist width which allows riders with a size 10.5 or bigger foot to power through, speedy turns. Those with big boots will find the Bullet fun to ride and long lasting.

The Bullet's slant wall construction provides bigger-boot riders a controlled snow feel and durability. A 70's muscle graphic looks great on the board which includes a silver metallic detail print.

Next is the Burton Baron ES. It offers incredible stability and control, from groomers to hips, to off-piste stashes. Riding the Baron hard all day is a snap.

Burton has created the Baron for larger-footed riders. Its implanted Carbon I-Beam and added Dual Warp Lite Triax fiberglass ensure high speed. Its Dragonfly core is designed according to a specific strength to weight ratio, as well as Pressure Distribution Edges. This increases the boards snap and edge control.

The Burton Snowboarding equipment Company is owned and run by snowboarders, by having this setup, Burton is continuously improving their products from snowboard boots to snowboard's, bindings to snowboard clothes.

From a small operation in Southern Vermont, this small family runs business that is known as Burton has grown in to a global company with offices across the world. As many would agree Burton has been a major factor in shaping what Snowboarding is today.

Burton has been established as a snowboarding company since 1977. It is a company that does extensive research in order to develop some of the leading snowboard's, snowboard boots and snowboard bindings in the world. So along with the company history and the vast experience of the staff Burton are manufacturing some of the best snowboard's and snowboard equipment in the world. Because of this extensive research riders always know when they buy Burton they are buying quality.

So, what's so special about their jackets. Well they have something called Continuum which is exclusive to Burton. What's Continuum? its an exclusive technology to Burton. Its based around a seam welded origami construction, it basically eliminates almost all seam tape, stitching holes and thread. This allows the fabric to breath more easily and also takes the moisture away from your body and into the outer wear faster then previous snowboarding jackets. Also because the fabric is more breathable it means that the it can dry faster.

Another factor that concerns some riders is the actual weight of the jacket it self. The Continuum Technology also takes care of that. Due to their being no need for seam taping this reduces the overall weight of the jacket. Now, I'm sure you're wondering what does that mean for a snow boarder? well that means no matter what you are doing in the snow you'll be able to do it for longer, faster and drier.
This will help ensure that you are comfortable up on the hill. The right boot will make all of the difference. And truthfully, there are differences in the wide variety of different snowboarding boots that are available.

Since snowboarding is obviously done in the snow, you know that you will be cold; therefore, making sure that you select a boot that will help to keep your feet warm is a necessity. Nothing is worse than your feet freezing and no one is comfortable in that situation. Warm feet can make a lot of difference when it comes to handling the snowboard and ensuring that you stay comfortable. Another major aspect of the boot should be that it will help to keep your feet dry. If snow gets down in your boots and makes your feet wet of course your feet will become cold once again. Choose a boot that will definitely help to keep your feet dry.

Snowboard boots will affect your performance. They may not be the right boot for the board, the bindings or for you. Making sure that all of these things work together and work together in a way that will not hinder your performance will be of great importance to you.

An entry level snowboard boot will allow you some extra room as they are designed to fit different foot types. They will offer a basic lace up system and a basic liner. They are cheaper than other types of boots, so they can help save you some money if you are just starting out in this sport.

The next level of snowboard boot is a little more expensive than that of the entry level boot; therefore, making it a mid-level boot. A mid-level snowboard boot can cost around a couple of hundred dollars and offers a little more flex than that of the entry level boot. The boot is usually soft and forgiving just like that of the entry level boot; however, it will help when it comes to performance and response. Liners are of a higher grade than the entry level boot and they will help to retain sweat and moisture from your feet. They will fit your feet better by offering a more precise fit therefore making them less bulky than that of an entry level boot.

For a high end snowboard boot, expect to pay a couple of hundred dollars and more. They will contain all of the bells and whistles that you would want in a boot. They are better made; offer a stiffer structure which allows the rider to have better customization in their performance. These boots are just better all the way around, but you will pay for the quality.

Now that you know that there are differences in snowboard boots hopefully you will be able to choose the perfect snowboard boot for you that will help your performance as a snowboarder, offer you a more comfortable ride and will help to keep your feet dry and warm.
