We&lt;br /&gt;simply don’t have the time.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Most of us consume far too many foods and drinks that are high&lt;br /&gt;in fat, cholesterol, sugar, and sodium, consequently exposing&lt;br /&gt;ourselves to the risks of cardio-vascular disease, Type Two&lt;br /&gt;Diabetes, hypertension, stroke, and even some types of cancer.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;For those of us who do have the time to eat properly, face it,&lt;br /&gt;we simply like to cheat. Generally speaking, most of us don’t&lt;br /&gt;have the willpower to constantly avoid all the “goodies” that&lt;br /&gt;are so detrimental to our health. We’ve all heard that old&lt;br /&gt;saying” If it tastes good-spit it out!” Well, unfortunately,&lt;br /&gt;that’s probably accurate advice, however, there are a few less&lt;br /&gt;dramatic methods we can employ to sort of “have our cake and eat&lt;br /&gt;it too.”&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1. Try to get in the mindset that you really are what you eat&lt;br /&gt;and slowly begin to pay closer attention to what you consume.&lt;br /&gt;Simply changing the way you think is one of the most powerful&lt;br /&gt;ways to improve any area of your life. Take five minutes each&lt;br /&gt;day and visualize yourself as being thinner. Sound silly? Have&lt;br /&gt;you seen the movie” The Secret?” If not, I strongly suggest you&lt;br /&gt;do so. I think you will be surprised at how much difference this&lt;br /&gt;technique will make.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2. Take a sack lunch to work. A turkey sandwich with some&lt;br /&gt;fruit, a protein bar and some diet white tea will be much better&lt;br /&gt;for you than that darned cheeseburger and fries. If that won't&lt;br /&gt;hold you until the whistle blows, have a protein drink in&lt;br /&gt;between instead of raiding the candy machine.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;3. Avoid eating foods high in carbohydrates especially three&lt;br /&gt;hours before bedtime. The simple version is the carbs will be&lt;br /&gt;converted into sugars which will more than likely be stored as&lt;br /&gt;fat.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;4. Any form of exercise is better than none at all. A fast&lt;br /&gt;paced walk for fifteen to twenty minutes three times per week is&lt;br /&gt;one of the most effective methods to lose weight and does not&lt;br /&gt;pound the body like running or jogging. Being a personal&lt;br /&gt;trainer, I cannot say enough about the benefits of exercise.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;5. Drink a glass of water about thirty minutes prior to meals.&lt;br /&gt;This will make you feel full and you may not eat quite so much.&lt;br /&gt;Also, eating smaller portions will, in time, make it more&lt;br /&gt;difficult for you to over eat.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Remember, being overweight is not only undesirable and&lt;br /&gt;unattractive, it is most certainly detrimental to your health.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;About the Author: Did you find this article helpful? So giving up on it after a few days is insanity.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We all wants results fast, but the reality is that weight loss&lt;br /&gt;of any nature takes time. In fact, it could be a month before&lt;br /&gt;you even notice a consistent shift in your weight loss.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;That's why so many people never lose weight - they think "It's&lt;br /&gt;not working, so it's not worth it". How&lt;br /&gt;often do you have a scheduled snack, a stop at the local drive&lt;br /&gt;thru (perhaps the kid's treat on the weekend), accept&lt;br /&gt;invitations to dinner where carbs are going to be filling you&lt;br /&gt;from head to toe...and all the other things you currently do to&lt;br /&gt;put yourself in front of carbs.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Think about your shopping list, as most people never change&lt;br /&gt;their shopping lists. Where do you shop? Do they have the&lt;br /&gt;adequete low carb options?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ultimately, make sure that you're not putting yourself further&lt;br /&gt;from the right low carb foods and closer to the high carbs like&lt;br /&gt;before.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I know it sounds easy, but there are probably many habits you&lt;br /&gt;have formed over the years which you might need to take notice&lt;br /&gt;of and start to readjust. We are attracting them to us.&lt;br /&gt;If when you think about happiness you think about food, then your experience will be that to be happy you must eat. See, it's not the food that makes you happy. It's your thoughts about the food.&lt;br /&gt;So how does this apply to weight loss and a new thinner you?&lt;br /&gt;Start attracting a thin new you to yourself. That's right, think about being happy and thin. Think about the good feeling you will have when people give you compliments about your weight loss.&lt;br /&gt;Contrast this with the thoughts of a fat person. Usually the fat person will obsess about food, hunger, (or worse) how bad they look or feel. So what is a fat person's reality? More food, more hunger, and bad looks or feelings.&lt;br /&gt;Observe the thoughts in your head right now after reading that last paragraph. Come on. Write them down. Force yourself to look at the programming running in your head.&lt;br /&gt;Put "The Secret" to work for you. Write down and visualize yourself being thin, feeling fit, and enjoying exercise.&lt;br /&gt;Think about how good you are going to feel with your pants or skirt feeling loose. Think about the compliments you will get about your weight loss. Think about how good you are going to feel after you walk 30 minutes on the treadmill.&lt;br /&gt;Control your thought and you will control your life. To lose a pound of fat a month, all you need to do is cut 100 calories a day from your diet, assuming the intake and expenditure of all other calories remains the same. That's because a pound of body fat is equivalent to about 3,500 calories. So if you cut 100 calories a day for 31 days, you're cutting 3,100 calories--or about a pound.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Wait...a pound a month? Isn't that a little slow? Well, mounds of research indicate that you're more likely to keep weight off if you lose it slowly. Besides, losing a pound a month doesn't require drastic changes in your eating habits. It can be as simple as eating two egg rolls with your Chinese stir-fry instead of three. Here are 100 painless ways to cut 100 or more calories a day. As a bonus, they all reduce fat or sugar, which means, calorie for calorie, you're getting more vitamins and minerals.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1. Spread 1 tablespoon of all-fruit jam on your toast rather than 1 1/2 tablespoons of butter.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2. Replace 1 cup of whole milk with 1/2 cup of nonfat milk.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;3. Eat 2 poached eggs instead of 2 fried eggs.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;4. Replace 1/2 cup of granola with 2 cups of Cheerios.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;5. Instead of using whole milk and eggs to prepare 2 slices of French toast, use nonfat milk and egg whites.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;6. Snack on an orange and a banana instead of a Snickers candy bar.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;7. Munch on 35 pretzel sticks instead of 1 ounce of dry-roasted peanuts.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;8. Choose 1/2 cup of brown rice instead of 1 serving of frozen rice pilaf with green beans or 1 serving of frozen Oriental rice and vegetables.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;67. Compliment your sandwich with 3/4 cup of split-pea soup instead of 1 cup of chunky bean and ham soup.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;68. Replace 3 tablespoons of strawberry topping on your ice cream with 3/4 pint of fresh strawberries.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;69. Pass on the second helping of mashed potatoes.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;70. Snack on a papaya instead of a bag of M&amp;amp;Ms.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;74. Substitute 3 ounces of scallops for 3 ounce of lean beef in your stir-fry.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;75. Rather than spread 4 tablespoons of cream cheese on two slices of raisin bread, dip the bread in 1/2 cup nonfat apple-cinnamon yogurt.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;76. Munch on 1 cup of frozen grapes instead of an ice cream sandwich.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;77. Rather than drink a strawberry milkshake, make a smoothie of 2/3 cup of low-fat milk, 1/2 cup of strawberries and 1/2 a banana.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;78. Why is this happening when you have a market saturated with diets and weight loss products? It's simple, the majority of diets and products will not and cannot work for you. How can i say this? Just look around you and you will see what i mean.&lt;br /&gt;Look for weight loss products on the internet and you will see hundreds of companies making ridiculous claims about the products that they are trying to offload onto you. In their adverts they will throw in words like:&lt;br /&gt;Amazing, New, Fantastic, Incredible, Revolutionary, Astonishing, Astounding, Guaranteed, Breakthrough, Scientific, Extraordinary.&lt;br /&gt;These words are meant to appeal to your desperation to lose weight, and sadly they often result in people handing over their money for products which are never going to work for them. Try to think of how many weight loss products you or people you know have purchased in the past that haven't worked. I'm sure you will know what I am talking about.&lt;br /&gt;You will also find that many companies offer endorsements and scientific data from so called medical professionals. Most of these professionals are well paid for their endorsements. Think about it, if I said to you that I would pay you ten thousand dollars just for saying my product was great, would you refuse to take my money?&lt;br /&gt;People see these extraordinary claims and think "wow! This could work for me; look at all the scientific evidence". So they hand over their cash and in a month or so they find themselves back to square one.&lt;br /&gt;If you look closely you will find these words hidden away somewhere in the advertisement "results may vary". You will often have to look hard for these words, but I can assure you that they will be there.&lt;br /&gt;This absolves companies of any responsibility if the product doesn't work for you. If they are so sure that they can deliver what their advertisements promise why do they need to add these words? They do it because they know that what they are selling is not going to work for the majority and if you complain they can say "it does say in the small print that results could vary".&lt;br /&gt;Be very way of companies that promise you miraculous results because weight loss doesn't come under the realm of miracles. The fact behind weight loss is a simple one:&lt;br /&gt;Burning more Calories than you Consume equals Weight Loss&lt;br /&gt;There is no new method or product that will change the formula above. It has always been that way and it will always be that way, regardless of what people try to sell you.&lt;br /&gt;The main problem that people have is not losing weight, but keeping the weight off. The very word 'diet' conjures up something of a temporary nature. You go on a diet for a certain length of time, maybe lose some weight, you feel happier, and then you come off it. Soon the weight comes back, and you go through the same process again and again, until you finally just give up.&lt;br /&gt;Diets are a temporary answer for an ongoing problem, it's almost impossible to lose weight permanently through traditional dieting methods. The reason why dieting will never work in the long term is because most diets are based on a large cutback in calories. If you are used to a certain lifestyle it stands to reason that any drastic change will be an unexpected shock to your body and mind. This is why it is so hard to stick to a diet.&lt;br /&gt;If you take up running, do you think you would be capable of running marathons in a couple of months. Your body and your mind will need time to adjust to what you are doing. When it comes to losing weight people expect to see long lasting results in a short time. This is never going to happen as you are not giving yourself the time to adjust to the new methods.&lt;br /&gt;If you are used to eating 4000 calories a day and you drop down to 2000 a day, what do you think will happen? You may struggle through for a week or two but your body and your mind will fight you every step of the way until you give up and go back to eating 4000 calories a day.&lt;br /&gt;If however if you were to just cut your calories by 250-400 a day, it would be much easier as it won't come as such a shock to your body. It will accept this change because it's not too difficult. After about a month or so your body and your mind will get used to this loss of calories, and then you make another small adjustment.&lt;br /&gt;If you want to lose weight successfully and for good, you need to do it in small steps, any other way and you will eventually fail. There is no magic method that is going to help you to lose weight, so do yourself and your wallet a favour and stop looking one. Accept this and then you will be able to lose weight without torturing yourself.&lt;br /&gt;Forget all the fad diets and all the rash promises that companies make to you. You won't get any company keeping in touch with you about your progress after you have purchased their product. You're on your own and if it doesn't work for you, remember they did mention somewhere that results could vary.&lt;br /&gt;Deep down you and I both know that losing weight can be difficult and it is not something that you will succeed at in a matter of weeks. I would suggest limiting alcohol consumption to once a week if fat loss is your goal.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When your liver is processing alcohol it will stop all other metabolic functions. It will do so until it rids your body of ethanol toxicity which is the by product of alcoholic consumption. This process leads many times to stubborn fat, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and syndrome X.&lt;br /&gt;Drinking in excess will also contribute to fat gain not loss. If you think you are going to gain muscle mass while drinking think again! Your liver is to0 busy doing something it does not want to do, process alcohol instead of amino acids. In addition, alcohol reduces testosterone.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We have not even touched on how many extra calories alcohol consumption can add to your daily caloric intake. This is almost twice that of carbohydrates and protein and just under the 9 grams per calorie for fat.
