6/14 Wildflower Meadow Wet Watercolor Technique Card ~ One Layer Wonder

Good Afternoon Friends!

I told ya that I love this set!! I can't seem to put it down! This card is so simple to make, but it really looks like a water colored work of art, does it not?

This card uses the wet watercolor technique with Stampin Up Markers, watercolor paper, 4 markers, a water bottle for spritzing water, some self adhesive pearls and some Island Indigo Bakers Twine!

To make this card:

Start with a piece of Stampin Up Water color paper and cut it down to 8 1/2" x 5 1/2"
Score and fold your cardstock at 4 1/4"
Start with the lightest color marker and begin inking your background image, first Daffodil Delight, Then, add Tangerine Tango, and do Island Indigo and Cherry Cobbler at the end. (if you start with the darkest color first your yellow marker could turn a funky color). This step takes a few minutes, but don't worry the rest goes quick.
Using a waterbottle with a spritzer on it, evenly spray the stamp with ordinary water until you've covered the whole thing. I used a stamp cleaner bottle and sprayed 5 times before I covered the whole thing. I thought it looked too wet!
Lay the folded cardstock down on the stamp (don't forget to figure out which side of your card is supposed to open, just sayin')
Lay a piece of computer paper over the top and smooth flat so you get all the color evenly distributed.
Lift the papers off the stamp and wait a few minutes to dry.
Once your one layer card is dry, add the self adhesive pearls and Bakers twine to your taste and you're ready to write your card out to someone!

Again! I love how simple it is to make a quick card that packs a WOW with this Wildflower Meadow Background Stamp . Woot woot!!

Good Afternoon Friends!

One of my favorite new things from the brand new idea book and catalog is the Wildflower Meadow Background Stamp and matching embossing folder from Stampin Up! In a few short minutes, you can have a GORGEOUS card made and be ready to roll and celebrate any occasion!

I know, for me that summertime should be fun time and it's also a time when there's a TON of things going on, between graduations and summer parties. Having a way to make a quick card is so important!

This card uses 3 colors Tangerine tango, soft suede and very vanilla. Seriously a stamp and go type of card. For best results, lay your stamp on the table and ink it up so that it's just laying there.. Lay the tangerine tango piece of paper on top of your inked stamp, and grab a piece of computer paper to lay on top. Next, just smooth over both papers with an open hand so you get all the little polka-dot details.

After stamping, I ran this through the big shot with the coordinating embossing folder. It really makes it pop! I added a bit of Victoria, vintage style ribbon and some pearls to match. So easy and perfect for summer!

Good Morning Friends!

Yippee-Skippee!! I'm so excited about these new In Colors!! When writing about Crisp Cantaloupe, it doesn't really flow off the fingers easily typing, but I know I'm going to be using it a LOT, especially with this new Strawberry Slushy color that I can't seem to put down.

I admit that pink is probably my favorite color and I had pink in almost every single creation I made my first year as a demo, until my customers ~~whacked me into shape~~ suggested that I branch out a little! {smiles}. Here is today's share:

This is for a fundraiser that is very near and dear to my heart. It became apparent to me (and many others) that there was a DIRE need for a handicapped access ramp at my very old, but very BEAUTIFUL church, St. Michaels in Lowell MA, when two guests of children making first communion had to be carried in and out of the church to be there for their special child's day. I went and spoke with the pastor. I'm able to contribute a little, but felt like I could do more if I hosted a card class!

You can read all about the event and register at this link. I don't usually do "kits" but long distance packets will be available (with an additional charge if it requires postage) because I really want to do this for my church and help as much as I can.

I know I don't often share my faith here, but it is a HUGE part of my life and the basis of what drives me as a person. So on a personal note, when I moved to Dracut, MA, I first attended a different church that somehow didn't feel like home. St. Michael Church is filled with amazing people that make me feel welcome and part of the experience. It is also one of the most beautiful churches I have ever seen. I love how following my daughter through the process of making two sacraments this year, unlike when I was a child, the process wasn't scary at all.

If you miss a week, no one judges and it's just a wonderful community in a place I want to be. I would like EVERYONE to have access to this place if that's where they want to be too and I know I could do a lot more to help if I called on the thing I love most: Gathering with friends to stamp and MAKE A DIFFERENCE. So, there you have it. Here are some photos of the place I love so much, and one of my sweet girl from the spring concert. If you want to make a donation without doing the class, just pop me an email and I'll either put you in touch with them directly, or collect the money and pass it along.

This is my favorite window in the church.

See the window on the right.. There's a framelit in there from Apothecary Accents! Do you see it in the middle in the darker blue with the tab on the top and bottom?

When Alexis sings at church, she sings from that place deep down, can you see her joy? It's a celebration every week. People who sit in front of us, turn around and comment that it's so cool to hear her little voice ring and with such beautiful enthusiasm. I just love it! I hope you can make the event on the 21st of June and if you cannot, just say a little prayer that we raise enough money to make a difference so that everyone can come and share in that joy!

So Let's get back to the little details on this gorgeous card!

Measurements:
Base: Strawberry Slush 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored and folded in half at 4 1/4"
Layer 2: Crisp Cantaloupe 5 x 3 3/4"
Layer 3: Whisper white 4 7/8" x 3 5/8", embossed with the brand new Modern Mosaic Embossing Folder
Layer 4: 1 x 5" inch strip of Crisp Cantaloupe embossed with the Fancy Fan Folder and cut with scissors to make the little banner bottom. Tip** The easiest way to do that my customers love is, cut about a 1" cut up the middle of the bottom of the banner, then from each of the bottom corners, cut to the tip to make the "V" I'm going to have to get a photo of that for a future post. It's so easy when you see it.
Layer 5: is the cute little butterfly on the top left. I embossed that also with the Fancy Fan Folder and cut it with the Bitty Butterfly punch
Layer 6: I dressed my butterfly with one medium self adhesive pearl and two small ones. See how the head of the butterfly is slightly larger?
Layer 7: To make it easier for the class participants, I will precut this layer and probably emboss all the pieces but one (so the newbee's can try embossing). This gorgeous shape comes from Apothecary Accents Framelits. It's still my favorite set of shapes, but maybe when I get the new goodies I ordered yesterday, all that will change! That layer and layers 2 and 3 will be sponged with the strawberry slushy ink.
Layer 8: is a simple Vintage Button, with a bit of White Bakers Twine to finish off the design. It truly is the little details in everything that makes them sweet!

What a great color combination for summer cards! I love all the new in colors, they look like ice cream together! Fresh, new and fun!

So, the stamp set is one of my new favorites because the sayings are so unique and relevant! I love sending a card with a note of encouragement or thanks and I have a feeling this will be one of those "go to" sets for the next year!

5/31 Happy Day & Modern Medley Designer Paper with Doilies

This card is so vintage lovely! :) Cards like this one make my heart happy! The Stamp says "hello there" and the class participants just inked the word hello to "omit" the second word. I just love stamping with markers.

It's here!! The new catalog is finally here! If you don't have one yet, make sure you let me know so I can save you a copy! Oh such Joy!!! Here's a GORGEOUS creation that I made with a bunch of my buddies at the 20 card class I offered to kick off the new catalog! Swoon!!!

This card was super simple to put together and features the Modern Medley Designer Series Paper (item 126926), the STUNNINGLY GORGEOUS new Very Vintage Designer Buttons (item 129327) and the Brand New Happy Day Stamp Set from Stampin' Up!

The Modern Medley Paper is black and very vanilla, but it almost takes on a brown when you look at this card in person. I love that I have already used every SHRED of the one pack I was able to get my hands on! :) Speaking of shreds, I used my stampin up table top cutter (retiring today) to make the fine shred of paper that looks like a matching stitch through the button. This cutter cuts 3 sheets at a time, and I think i need to order another just to have a standby in case. The one I've had for 5 years has never needed sharpening and cuts precision cuts. I'm so bummed to see it go!

The butterfly is made from black cardstock. I ran it through my big shot with the Fancy Fan embossing folder and used the butterfly punch to punch him out.

At first I thought the black butterfly was off somehow but I really love it for some reason. It's so elegant with this layout and soft and beautious! :)

5/14/13 Fabulous Floretes Birthday and Mothers Day

Good Morning Friends!!

I know that I have been MIA on my blog, but I have been WAY busy preparing for a 20-different card class that I have coming up on Sunday here in Dracut! If you live local and would like to join us, you can register for the event here. Today is the last day to register!

Here is a GORGEOUS card from my stamp camp class last week. I sure am going to miss this Fabulous Florets Stamp set Wood, Clear. I'm so bummed that this one is going. It is one of my go to floral sets!

The class participants had the option to make a Mother's Day card, or a birthday card. We fussy cut the flower and the stem and layered it on top of the Print Poetry Designer Paper Stack. I love the smaller format of this DSP. I was able to get 12 cards from one stack using these measurements. The dsp pieces each measure 4 x 1 1/2". That is layered on Very Vanilla which was cut to 4 1/4" x 3 1/4". This designer paper is also retiring.. I just love that the designers made one side blue hues, and the other pink.

When my customers are in the studio, I explain that I typically start a card with my designer paper, then I purchase a few colors to match. Then, I end up using every shred of designer paper before moving on to my next set of products. I just love the comfort in knowing I used every piece!

That's it for today, but I will be back and sharing! Yesterday, my venue for Sunday had to be moved, and I was able to secure Harmony Hall in Dracut! This is a GORGEOUS space with big white walls, and floor to ceiling windows. I just can't wait till Sunday!

I know I should be packing but I really wanted to update my blog. Tomorrow I'll be off to an all expense paid trip to Fiji thanks to my AWESOME customers, AMAZING team and Stampin' Up!

I'm not sure that the word Grateful, can really express what I'm feeling!

I'm running a little short on time so I will post a bunch of cards that my team and I made at Sunday's Operation Write Home, Cards for hero's party. This party was inspired by my downline Seongsook Dunkan, who has dedicated her entire business to making cards for this amazing charitable organization. The next series of blog posts are to show the cards we made that day. More importantly, this is just one example of how stampin up has made such a difference in my life, and has allowed me to make a difference in the lives of others.

4/12 First Communion MDS Share, My Digital Studio

Good Morning Friends!

Last night, in about 30 minutes, I put this menu together for my daughter's first communion celebration gathering after mass tomorrow. I love that in MDS, things just sort of flow and it makes it so easy to come up with a frame worth art piece in a short amount of time. Swoon!

The final menu will be 8 1/2" x 11 and matches the invitation perfectly! :) Last night my good friend and assistant Jenny helped me make a bunch of favors to hand out at the restaurant and today, I feel pretty calm! :) Scrabooking class tonight, and today I'm going to go see if I can purchase something for my princess to commemorate this special day.

I'm not sure if I posted the invitation here.. here is a picture of the back.

Again, it was such a time saver to be able to have these printed. I love making handmade cards, but I'm a bit of a procrastinator. :) What do you think of the design? I like how the banner goes on top of the cross, then on the menu, it comes off. For the favor, we did them by hand.. :) I'll share those tomorrow.

The stamps stick amazingly well to our clear blocks and are easy to place just where you want them. And best of all, you get to enjoy tons of images for a great price!

So, I inked up the big banner first using espresso ink.

Next, I added the word "thanks" on top of the banner on my cardstock, then just placed the clear block on top so when I stamp my letters I didn't have to do them one at a time. That's pretty clever!

Then, I took out 3 markers and colored the letters individually. That's how I would use my current stamps, so I wanted to see how it would look.

Perfect shot, and no stamp-a-majig! Woot woot!

To make the ribbon all scrunched, I snipped off the end, and grabbed the white stitching in the middle and pulled it a bit. Then I used tombo multipurpose adhesive to stick the ribbon to the card front. Here's another peek. :)

The presents come from the Patterned Party Stamp set. I love these colors together, pacific point, real red and rich razzleberry! Speaking of... Stampin up announced to demonstrators yesterday, that there is going to be a color update! I LOVE that I work for a company that is up with the times. Here's how it's shaking out.

4/3 More Make a Cake with Itty Bitty Banners and Patio Party Designer Paper

How about another great project with Make a Cake and Itty Bitty Banners Stamp Sets? These stamp sets are both so versatile. For Make a Cake, you can make the cake different sizes or shapes by layering the images. To make it easier, I would suggest using a post it note in between stamping to protect the images underneath.

Here's a look at the card I made:

The Patio Party Designer Paper comes with a cute circle image that matches one of the prints in another sheet! I just used a 1 3/4" circle punch to punch out the pre-printed image to make the banner emblem. I added a 3/4" circle punch of midnight muse card stock in the center of the circle. When I stamped the cake base, I added a post it note to the top of the cake base, then added the top.

What an easy thank you set for a bride to be to have made up for wedding thank you's!

I stamped the images in the midnight muse and then colored them in with the other 2012-2014 in color markers.

4/2 Make a cake with Itty Bitty Banners and Patio Party Designer Paper

I have two shares using these stamp sets. I made these cards (today and tomorrow) last June and had planned to offer them as part of a class planner. So, here is the first one!

We are having some unexpected construction at the house this week, so classes here have been cancelled. Hopefully, that will free me up for some blogging and I can share some of the projects I've been saving for you! :)

When I ran across these cards this week, I knew I wanted to take a little time to share them.

The colors here come from the Patio Party Designer Series Paper.

The base layer is Primrose petals, cut to 11 x 4 1/4".
Layer 2 is Whisper white 5 x 3 3/4"

Layer 3 is Midnight Muse 4 7/8 x 3 5/8"

Layer 4 is whisper white 3 1/4" square

The butterfly DSP layer is 3 inches square, so you get 16 of that square from one piece of 12 x 12. I love this layout for quick cards. Across the middle, I used a strip of the stitched Grosgrain ribbon in Whisper white.

I stamped the images in the midnight muse and then colored them in with the other 2012-2014 in color markers.

4/1 The Open Sea and Pure Gumption with Fan Fair Paper and cool double bow Split Coast Stampers Creative Crew CCREW0413CF

I hope you all had a blessed holiday surrounded by the people you love.

Today's share is a card I am putting in the mail for a good friend who got a promotion at work. The amount of time and dedication that this person put into their promotion is amazing and I'm so happy for my friend. (I don't want to say who the card is for until they get it).

To make the gorgeous double bow, I used my friend Lee Conrey's magic bow maker. I added two pieces of the Riding Hood Red 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon to the mix of this double bow, and used a few glue dots underneath the bow to hold the folded back pieces in place. Woot woot! The pretty Banner across my card front was stamped on Very Vanilla card stock that was about 3/4" thick. Then I scored it on either side of the sentiment twice. Once right beside where the words end, and 1/4" over. Then I just cut the paper to make the banner end and it pops up quite nicely. I added a single glue dot under the center to get it to arch outward from the middle.

I also made this card for the design team, the creative crew, over on Split Coast Stampers. Located on P181 of the main catalog and on P 27 & 36 of the spring catalog, these can add a great accent to any project! Challenge yourself to add piercing to your card in a new way. If you don't have the paper piercing tool, use a pushpin!

I thought it would be fun to use my paper piercing on the scallop of the 2 3/4" scalloped circle punch. I layered that layer with a 2 1/2" Espresso Colored Circle underneath. I also added another layer of paper piercing all around the outside my Fan Fair Designer Series Paper and Sponged the layer heavily with Early Espresso ink.

I love the Open Sea Stamp Set for achievement cards because in my opinion, life is a journey not a race. Accomplishments along the way should be celebrated. For me, accomplishments take prayer, dedication, hard work and determination. The ship is symbolic for the journey for me. There may be storms along the way, and things may pull you off track, but it's important to keep moving forward. The sentiment comes from Pure Gumption, which is a set to celebrate Graduations. I love that it can be used for other things too!

3/30 Best of Flowers at Stamp Club! Featured Artist's Gina and Bonnie

Good Morning Friends!

I love my stamp club. More over, I love the people who come and visit me every SINGLE month and take the time out of the busy schedules to take a little time for themselves. I try and make stamp club the one hour escape from the every day. It's only once a month and my clubbers are like part of the family.

Relationships have been formed and friends come together. What really excites me is that friends meet here become closer and schedule time together outside club. Grandmothers and granddaughters find a fun thing to bond over and more... I love even more when creativity blossoms right in front of me.

My girlfriends Gina and Bonnie have been stamping with me for over 6 years. In fact, they have been demonstrators (for the discount mostly) on my team for just about that long too. One thing I love about a bunch of smart, wonderful ladies gathering together is right here! This month when Gina and Bonnie visited me, they took my "best of flowers" project from class and redesigned it a bit. They so made it better. (swoon!). Instead of sharing my project from this month, I'd like to show you what they made during class. First, here is Gina's version of the Best of Flowers card from class.

I love the purple against the daffodil yellow. She actually flipped my card from the original, and changed the daisy line so that it wasn't in a perfect row, but scattered. I love her soft blender pen work on the center of the focal point and the soft and pretty sponging on the thank you banner.

Here's a look at the Best of Flowers Stamp Set. Three of these images are from sets across Stampin' Up!'s 25 years and one is a brand new, never seen before image. I love the images in this one particularly! The flower from "because I care" is much smaller in the new stamp set, so it coordinates with the one I have tucked away in the stash I'll never sell. :) The "best of" stamp sets are only $14.95 plus tax (where applicable) and shipping.

The small daisy stamp is a perfect fit for the 1 1/4" scalloped circle punch! It makes a great border on this card. My good friend Bonnie, made the border even more dispersed in this pretty card below.
