No matter how long we spend covering global automotive culture, there is still that feeling of excitement when we stumble upon something special and start shooting it right then and there. …it was a lonely Lancer Evolution III aka wira turbo parked outside that stole my attention. It had just been dropped off by its owner and was about to receive a quick service, a bit of TLC to keep this well looked after modern day classic freshly oiled up and functioning as it should.&lt;br /&gt;

These days we tend to get too caught up in the latest and newest versions that manufacturers continue to throw at us, but once in a while it’s always nice to take a step back and admire where some of today’s best cars have originated from. It was back in January 1995 that the third generation of the Lancer Evolution, the CE9A, made its debut. It was to be the last high-performance, rally-bred special before the new body design would be introduced the following year, a shape what would form the base for the Evo 4, 5 and 6 (and the Evo 6 Tommi Makinen of course).&lt;br /&gt;

What is very obvious is that the owner of this car has done a great job of keeping it looking period correct…&lt;br /&gt;

…upgrading it here and there with more modern touches like a carbon roof conversion. This might seem like a very pricy modification but once an enthusiasts makes a choice to keep a specific car for an indefinite amount of time, it’s then the serious upgrading begin. We all know the benefits that shedding weight from the very top of the chassis can bring to the handling…&lt;br /&gt;

…and a larger Garrett turbo, all good for “over 400 HP.” When the Japanese add the word “over” in front of any power, torque or speed figure then you should probably assume they are being somewhat conservative. With more than 400 HP on tap and not much over 1,300 kg this is undoubtedly a fun car to fling around the touge.&lt;br /&gt;

A custom intake pipe takes the HKS foam filter as far away from the hot side of the engine as possible, shielded even by a sheet of aluminum. All rubber hoses have been replaced with hard pipes, which also plumbing the larger HPI intercooler in position.&lt;br /&gt;

The car rides on D2 coilovers with adjustable camber plates, dialled as far negative as they go. The Cusco strut tower bar is there to keep the front section of the chassis as rigid as possible through corners.&lt;br /&gt;

The results were instantly apparent. At his terribly next drag outing, Andy piloted his Mitsi into the NZPC ten Second Club.&lt;br /&gt;

Next event: hill climbing. Andy entered a native race and ended up ruffling the feathers of the previous boys from the automotive club. His Evo ran a course record, that led to the stalwarts demanding the automotive be placed in its own class — an odd request considering it’s street driven road registered.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
After five years of hard abuse, the automotive has gone back to hiding for a freshen-up. When it returns to the road it will be sporting some serious head work and a stroker kit to up the torque and aid turbo response.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
What Andy has shown on top of all is that a sensible build takes time. Oh, and that his Mitsubishi Evolution III (&lt;u&gt;evo 3&lt;/u&gt;) could play the part of the factory-spec Lancer, but if you decide this book by its cover, you’ll be the one taking part in the fool.&lt;br /&gt;

Originally designed as the&lt;br /&gt;
base vehicle for homoglation requirements in Mitsubishi’s Group N rallying campaign, each new model&lt;br /&gt;
often incorporates developments learned from competition through the prior season. The EVO IX model&lt;br /&gt;
is no different in that regard, however it also picks up some improvements that help make it a better road&lt;br /&gt;
car as well.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The body shape and brake package basically carry over from the VII-VIII models, however the biggest&lt;br /&gt;
addition over the outgoing VIII model is the addition of Mivec variable inlet valve timing on the engine.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Primarily fitted to help the engine meet emissions requirements, its configuration can also be altered for&lt;br /&gt;
notably better performance (more on this later though!). Further improvements in this model included:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
- New 6 speed manual transmission, up from 5 speed transmission on the outgoing model. While&lt;br /&gt;
quite a good gearbox and able to handle a fair bit of punishment, please note that it is NOT&lt;br /&gt;
bulletproof as some would believe..!&lt;br /&gt;
-Claimed 0-100kph time is now 5.7 sec compared to 6.1 sec for the outgoing model with in gear&lt;br /&gt;
acceleration also noticeably quicker (partially due to engine performance improvements, partially&lt;br /&gt;
due to better gearing as a result of the extra gear ratio).&lt;br /&gt;
- New external aero package to reduce drag and front end lift, and improve downforce.&lt;br /&gt;
- 60kg reduction in weight (aluminium roof, lighter side intrusion bars and lighter wheels have been&lt;br /&gt;
fitted, among other things).&lt;br /&gt;
- Better turbocharger with revised exhaust housing for improved flow and better response.&lt;br /&gt;
- Quoted fuel consumption by Mitsubishi drops from 10.9L/100km with the EVO VIII down to&lt;br /&gt;
10.0L/100km with the new EVO IX (however it must be said, few people achieve this figure!).&lt;br /&gt;
Both on road and on track, the EVO IX is a great all round package. As a starting point it is pretty good,&lt;br /&gt;

The owner of the Italian sports car decided to smash it  to show his disappointment with Lamborghini.&lt;br /&gt;

The Lamborghini  Gallardo was bought six months ago, but the engine failed to start on  November 29, 2010. The owner contacted the Lamborghini dealer in Qingdao  and they transported the Gallardo to their maintenance center. The  engine problem wasn't solved, but instead the bumper and chassis were  damaged by the transport. The owner complained by the dealer but they  refused to take responsibility in this matter, so the angry owner  contacted Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann, the brand's China  headquarters, its after-sales service manager for Asia-Pacific region,  and the brand's owner Volkswagen Group, but the problem was not solved.&lt;br /&gt;

This protest was made to provoke public support and goad the  manufacturer to respect his consumer rights.&lt;br /&gt;
