At first Tom didn’t handle it well, but as the day wore on and so did his thoughts. By the time he came home from work he had come to grips that we were having twins again and was starting to get a little excited!

We both decided to keep both sides of our family out of the loop for as long as possible. Neither one of us wants to hear the “You’re irresponsible” lecture. Especially at our ages.

This is definitely my last pregnancy. After having 6 children in 4 pregnancies; I’m officially done. Once the twins are born, I’ll be having my tubes tied or cut and due to my high fertility, Tom will also be getting the snip. No more accidents for this momma.

I didn’t get a copy of my ultrasound picture right away this time. I’m not sure why, other than the technician said that the doctor needed to see it first before I can get my hands on it. I scheduled an appointment to see my doctor tomorrow afternoon to get the results, then I’m going straight to the imaging center to pick up my picture. Although I did get the chance to see the twins on the screen and hear both their heartbeats, I don’t have anything to show Tom or anyone else for that matter. Gotta love the waiting game!

Needless to say, Tom was NOT happy about it. Don’t get me wrong, babies are always a blessing and he knows this; but after 6 children of his own and the big FOUR-OH coming up, he’s so ready to be done. This baby is number five for us; unless we’re blessed with twins again (my heart secretly hopes for this; bank account, not so much) which would bring us to six.

Now that I seem to have SO much on my plate lately; I need to blog.

We are exactly 19 days away from moving across the country and starting a whole new life. A new life it certainly will be. I’m going from living in the big city (which I love!) to out in the country where my closest neighbour is a 10 minute walk away. HUGE changes for me.

Some of the biggest changes?

NONE of my family is even remotely close by. Yeah my husband’s family is out there, but considering only his father’s side of the family likes me and his mother hates me, this provides absolutely no comfort what so ever.

Closest store is 20 minutes away (by car).

Closest Hospital is 30 minutes away (by car).

No garbage pick up. You have to burn your garbage and recycling (any) needs to be taken to the depot.

My mother in law is a meddling *****. Considering she doesn’t like me, I wonder how long it’s going to take for her to try and take over our lives and push me out. I know this will happen, just a matter of how and when.

We’re going at attempt to grow most of our food. Including chickens for eggs.

Restarting my businesses (photography, jewelry and the kennel) all over again.

Although these aren’t all the changes and challenges I’ll be facing, it’s some of the bigger ones and the ones that concern me the most.

In the meantime…I have the rest of my house to pack, 7 puppies to place in forever homes and a boatload of stuff I still need to purge. All before December 14th.

One pair the fly wouldn't stay up and the other pair pinched his "package".

I told him not to get rid of them since I could recycle the denim into something else. When I was a kid I always wanted to make the ol' denim pocket purse. I knew I would never use for myself since I have the tendency to need a backpack for everything I carry. So I decided to make it for Mac since she has a weird obsession with purses lately.

What started off as a "pass the time" project ended up being a really cute purse. I decided to use Grandma's old sewing machine to sew the denim together in the shape of a pocket. Originally this was supposed to be a very plain purse made only for the enjoyment of my daughter. I was going to simply just attach a strip of denim for the strap and glue the pocket on the front and call it a day. As I looked at it, I realized it had the potential to be so much more.

I decided that it needed an inside lining and because I had intentions of leaving the red Levi's tag attached for "authenticity" I figured it'd look better if the inside lining was the same colour as the tag. Tom had brought home tons of red bandannas from work for the kids and the dog; the print on it made for an awesome lining.

For the handle, I braided three long strips of denim and sewed the ends to keep the braid intact. I sewed the handle to the inside of the purse and inserted the lining.

With a little bit of fabric glue...I attached the pocket to the front.

Here's the finished picture...

The purse came out way better than I expected or originally planned and Mac couldn't be happier. :D

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly ...

First rule of **********....you don't talk about **********. Depending on where you go, you may be bashed for even having it installed. I won't even publish the real name...I'm not getting in trouble either. Look around and you'll find it.

The Good:
* This app/installer is a solution to the extremely flawed app store.
* Allows you to "try-before-you-buy". Something the App Store doesn't allow.
* Easy to use.
* Supported by a great community.

The Bad
*  Leechers
* Theft

All in all, I love **********. I've been able to try out various apps before to committing to actually buying one. Only now have developers begun to offer "Lite" versions of their applications but many still don't which means if you hate an application that you paid $9.99 for...you have no option of a refund.

Check out the Hackulo.us forums...you just might find what you're looking for ;)

An Introduction to Cydia 2.0

Cydia can be a very helpful application to any iPod/iPhone user. Cydia is automatically installed when a device is jailbroken. This application can be used to download tweaks, ringtones, themes, wallpapers, lockscreens and games not available in the App Store (think game systems); all for free.

If you`re hoping Cydia will get you free apps...think again. Cydia contains mostly tweaks that personalize your device. Recently, Cydia introduced the Cydia App Store. If you don`t already know, Apple, has very strict guidelines for developers when it comes to apps that can be submitted or even considered for distribution within the App Store.

This is where Cydia has upped the ante. Since many developers are unable to get their apps approved for sale within the official App Store, Cydia is a developers dream come true. These backseat developers will finally have a chance to sell their apps even after Apple refuses admission to the app store.

Rumor has it, the possibilty of an "Adults Only" app store is in the works.

While Cydia remains, for me, my personilaztion tool...it may very well be a developers gold mine.

Jailbreaking... What is it? Should I do it?

The biggest thing that you'll hear about when buying an iPhone or iPod Touch is the term "jailbreaking". In this post I'll do my best to try and explain exactly what jailbreaking is, why you should do it and I'll try to direct you to the easiest ways.

Jailbreaking. What it means and why you should do it:
When Apple ships out their iPhones/iPod they're basically in jail. You can't customize your device to your liking because Apple puts restrictions on what you can't and can do. Jailbreaking means you can restore to a custom firmware that takes Apples' lock off your device and allows you to add third party applications and add/create themes to your hearts content.

What's the difference between "jailbreaking" and "unlocking".
Jailbreaking allows you to add features to your device whether it be through the Appstore, through SSH or to customize it is you see fit. Unlocking is a term used when you remove a cellular carriers restriction on the phone so it can be used under a different carrier.

Will jailbreaking void my warranty?
Asolutely NOT. There isn't anything that you could do to a jailbroken device to void the warranty. Why? If anything happens to your device all you need to do is restore it to its factory settings through iTunes. It sets the device so that it's as if you just got it out of the box.

I heard jailbreaking bricks your phone...
First of all, lets define the term "brick" or "to brick your iPhone/iPod" means to completely break your device esentially causing it to become nothing but a brick. Anyone who tells you that a jailbreak can brick your phone is lying. The only times its ever bricked are if the battery has lost its charging ability, its gotten wet and fried itself or you physically break it. There isn't anything you can do to your device during a jailbreak that can't be fixed by either giving it a hard reset or placing it in DFU mode.

OK. I'm convinced. How/where do I jailbreak?
Jailbreaking is actually really easy and have seen 11 yr olds do it. I suggest searching the iPod Touch Fans forum for information and instructions pertaining to your device. Make sure you know which generation your device is and the current firmware installed on it. or from other developers. Unlocking is a term used when you unlock your iPhone from its designated carrier (e.g. removing Rogers' restrictions to use it on the Fido network).

**Disclaimer**
I do not recommend or endorse the ability to obtain illegal applications through the jailbreaking method.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://ready2rant.blogspot.com/2009/03/jailbreaking-what-is-it-should-i-do-it.html' title='Jailbreaking... I bought myself a 2nd generation 32GB iPod Touch and haven't put it down since I bought it. Since I have an extremely bad habit of leaving shopping and to-do lists at home but always manage to carry my iPod everywhere I go; I figured this was the best way to keep me organized. So far, this is working out better than I could have expected. I haven't left my iPod (or my lists) at home since and I haven't forgotten anything at the store either. I have the iPod set-up to sync with iCal on my macbook so its easier to make appointments and know which days I have available and don't.

My iPod has become my "computer" of choice while at home or on the go. The built in WiFi is the best thing ever! You'd be surprised at how many people don't lock their routers and how many restaurants and businesses offer free WiFi. You can almost always pick-up a signal from any parking lot. Mind you; the lovely WiFi sucks the life out of the battery depending on how much you use it.

Now that I've boasted about how much I love my iPod Touch, I've decided that the next little while my lowly blog is going to be geared towards it. More specifically; jailbreaking, third-party apps and tweaks. I have intentions of reviewing applications that I have downloaded as well; but not till I've fully used it. None of this, using it for an hour then reviewing, will be going on here. I plan on giving full reviews about applications, their features, what can be improved and of course things I hate about it.

Look for my next post, I'll have it up shortly.

Why can't she just fall off a cliff?

Ok, so I wouldn't really wish that upon anybody...then again...
Yes, I know I think evil thoughts, but if you put up with the garbage she puts out; you'd feel the same way. So for the first time ever, I decided to splurge on the Baskin Robbins pre-packs because anyone who loves this flavour knows that only Baskin Robbins sells it. They must have either copyrighted the flavour or there's some type of conspiracy in regards to it because its the hardest type of ice cream to find. It's been my favourite since I was a kid and still have yet to find it anywhere but at Baskin Robbins.

So for $14 I came home with two 1L pre-packs of my favourite flavour ever! I think I'm more shocked to finally hear him refer to Ontario as home and not Nova Scotia. Since I haven't been getting a real answer as to when he'd be home, I just assumed it was all bologna.

Until today that is...
Tom showed up at my door with 2 dozen long-stem red and pink roses to wish me a happy Valentine's day! Was I shocked? Yes! Was it the sweetest thing he's ever done? Yes! Am I letting him spend the night? Sure am ;)!

With that said...I'm off to get the rest of my Valentine's gift ;)

It's been a full year since I lost you...

...and my heart still breaks as if it happened yesterday.

Today is the one year anniversary of my son, Angel's, death and it certainly was a difficult day.

At least I mustered up the strength to order the engraving on his tombstone. Since I couldn't decide on exactly what I wanted, nor could I please anyone with my choices, I kept putting it off. Karen took the kids for the night and Ry and I went to see "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" in the theatre. I totally recommend waiting for it to come out on video. I opted to go out and get them rather than purchase them over the internet in hopes that I would be able to compare seats and if possible find better ones.

I looked up the closest Ticketmasters since I knew that the one in Square One had closed down and made my way out with a very excited little boy and cranky baby. I made my way to the Ticketmaster in Sherway Gardens in Etobicoke. After wandering the mall looking for Jean Machine, with an anxious little boy in tow, they tell me that their Ticketmaster computer is down. I mutter rude things under my breath, grab Cody and push Mac out in the stroller feeling disappointed. After explaining to Cody that the "ticket machine" is broken and realizing I really did park all the way on the OTHER SIDE of the mall, I seriously considered just saying "Screw it!". Especially after hearing Cody whine the whole way back to the van about how he wants his tickets.

So I shoved everyone back in the van and headed over to Cloverdale Mall for the next Ticketmaster location. After finally finding the store in the mall and waiting for this OLD man buying rock concert tickets I was able to request mine. Just my luck....the damn computer freezes and we had to wait for it to be restarted. By now Cody is getting on my damn nerves about these tickets and on top of it, Mac wants out of the stroller. I was seriously wishing that I had just bought them on the internet.

All in all, I finally got the tickets and didn't really get any better seats than I would have gotten on the net. Oh well. At least they're bought and we got out of the confinement of my mother's place.

Bah-humbug

I'm beginning to think Christmas just isn't at all for the adults anymore. Last time I heard from him was when the roof was leaking. Ry's been telling me for days he's probably ran home to Mommy, but I didn't believe it. I figured he wasn't stupid enough to do that again. Last time he did was when Angel died and it was almost the end of us.

I guess I really shouldn't be that surprised. He had no place to go and whenever the going gets tough...he runs to Mommy. Oh, well. Better her dealing with his crap then me. He definitely needs to live with his mother. He needs constant motherly care of which I'm not willing to do anymore.

The guy thinks he's going to be able to get help with his mental issues out there. I swear I bought him just to take pictures of his face.

So far he's getting along with the kids quite well. Yesterday Evening everyone got together at Swiss Chalet, had a wonderful dinner and left. Unfortunately I felt as though everyone seemed to make the dinner about the money and not about my Grandmother. Grumpy faces, lack of "Thank you"s and my Grandmother sitting there without a soul talking to her was heart-breaking. I tried to sit and talk with her as much as possible and thanked her tremendously, including when I got home and today as well. I NEED her to realize what this money was able to do for me and how much I appreciate it.

I was able to go out and buy not only my Macbook Pro, but my camera and one other "surprise" which I'll blog about tomorrow.

Since I'm completely fascinated with my Macbook...I'm going to play :D

Double girls night.

So this time I'm posting for two good reasons.

Last night Ry (my cousin) took me out for dinner and it was absolutely wonderful. Thanks so much for that. I needed it more than you could imagine. Although I do feel bad that I'm such pig and therefore cost her a fortune :( Surprisingly enough...Tom put both kids to bed, on time AND changed diapers. Hell froze over, so this is definitely one for the books.

So tonight Tom went to a stag tonight and actually suggested that I invite Karen over for company. I was shocked considering he can't really stand her and would rather I not speak to her at all. Having her over was a blast. We played with the Wii and I sent another person home wanting to buy one.

I guess its over

So I called Tom at work this morning to let him know I wanted him to get off on his regular hour so we could talk. Considering it had been two days since the results arrived and we hadn't really talked about the situation at ALL, I took the inititive, and said we needed to talk. An hour later he walked through the door. He said he couldn't work knowing that everything was over. Considering he put in ten hours of overtime yesterday...I'm sure it wasn't a problem for him to leave.

I sent the kids to play in Cody's room and put my gloves on...I was laying it all out on the table. I let him know that I was tired of my life and financial situation being affected by and revealed to the past women in his life. As much as I know it hurt, I told him I didn't want his other children around anymore creating problems in my life and causing emotional strain. I have enough with my own kids never mind others that didn't come from inside me. I told him that all the paperwork, research and heartache I put into HIS children wasn't worth the outcome to me. I'm not willing to watch as his daughter walks into my home acting like SHE owns it (very much like her mother in that sense) and breaks all the rules that Cody is still expected to follow. Oh, wait...she doesn't break the rules...they just don't apply to her. Among other things, I'm certainly not willing to hear another child scream in my face: "You're NOT my MOM!". If you haven't had the opportunity to have stepchildren to do that to you; your lucky. It hurts like hell. Especially when you bust your ass through paperwork and bullshit to be able to have her there so she can see her dad. Yeah you little shit, if it weren't for me, your father would have stopped fighting your mother to see you long ago....

He told me he understood. No arguments. He then told me that he just wants me to be happy and if that means with someone else or just not with him, then that's what he wanted. We came to the conclusion that when Mac and Cody are staying with his mom (next week), he's going to leave too. We're going to spend anywhere between a couple days to two weeks apart. I need to sort out where I want to be in my life.

Regardless, I love him to death. I just can't handle all this added stress.

On a lighter note...
My mother called today to say that my grandmother's settlement cheque cleared. Woohoo! Everyone (kids and grandkids I guess) is getting dinner on Saturday. Along with dinner the grandkids all get their inheritance cheque. I got mine in a wire transfer to my mother's account since these crazy women and Ontario Works can't see "other" income. So because my mother is off to the bank tomorrow to make out all the cheques, I get mine tomorrow. I'm not willing to use MY inheritance on Tom's kids or his women, so I'm splurging on myself. I bought my van, I'm getting my camera and finally a new laptop. Too bad even that isn't cheering me up.

Whoever said money can't buy happiness was absolutely right.

All it takes is a phone call

Okay so it's 10:43 p.m. and Tom still isn't home from work. I talked to him an hour ago and he said he was punching out and walking out the door. My ass! It takes fifteen minutes to get from his work, especially at this hour.

Just got off the phone with him again. Yeah he's still at work. What the hell is the damn point of putting in overtime? His stupid ex-wife is going to get it all anyway. See, according to the FRO, we're $3500 in arrears and until its all paid off, his paycheques are garnished by 50%. In actuality, we're not, we're even but Kelly (the ex) is too lazy to report it. So now they're threatening to suspend his license; like taking it away is going to get him to and from work in order to pay the arrears. I don't understand their position on certain certain aspects at all.

I don't know what I'm more mad at...him for not calling...or this stupid laptop for overheating and shutting off on me every ten minutes! I can't wait till this Saturday. I'm finally splurging on a new camera. One that actually takes pictures when I ask it to, not seconds after Cody or McKenzie have finished their cute smile/moment! I can't even begin to tell you how frustrating it is. Dumb camera jumps through settings so bad that I don't think it has any settings anymore. Back to the laptop...since it just shut off again...I'm replacing this hunk of junk with a 15" Macbook Pro.

I better publish this before it shuts off again. It has taken me an hour to type this post. Saturday can't come soon enough.

Ghost dogs in my kitchen

So I put the kids down for a nap and ran to smoke a joint in the bathroom. Mind your business on that one. Live in my shoes for awhile and you'd be trying to grow it just for personal.

When I came out and walked into the kitchen; I found these:

Now, for anyone who is blind or can't make out what they're seeing, these are muddy paw/foot prints on my kitchen floor. From what I can make out they were either made by a medium to large size dog or possibly even a small child walking on their tip-toes.

Just to clarify, I don't own a dog and the kids were down for a nap. I ran to get the mail so I know I tracked in mud, but I was wearing my crocs.

Mud:

Many chunks of mud:

Bottom of Crocs:

Size Comparison

Close-up

I've come to the conclusion that
1.
