Socks are a simple thing that makes our lives so much better! There are several benefits to wearing fresh socks. Some benefits of fresh socks are keeping your feet dry and warm, helping to prevent odor and they give us a tool to express our style. We love our socks! There are other reason we love our socks as well. Unlike the reasons just mentioned, these reasons are less practical and more 'individual'. We love wool socks, cotton socks, spandex socks and all socks because they touch our emotions. Fresh socks make us feel good. Think of all the memories you have that include you sliding across the floor in your socks. The warm feeling you get when you put some warm socks on your cold feet. The mysteries surrounding all the socks that you have lost in the washer and dryer. The yucky feeling you get when you step in some water in your nice dry socks. It is the summer time and many families take their vacations because the weather is warm, the kids are out of school and summer time has such a nostalgia when you think of great vacations. I have lived on the east coast of the United States for all of my life and I always enjoyed traveling to New Jersey to visit my grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. It seems that now days the family vacation road trip is not the 'in' thing, but I always tell people that there are so many places in the continental Untied States that are awesome vacation destinations. Instead of going to Cancun or some other destination outside the country, save some money and spend your vacation on American soil.

New Jersey is within driving distance of anywhere in the upper half of the east coast and is an easy plane ride from everywhere else. New Jersey is more than mobsters and 'Jersey Shore'. There is a rich culture and there are plenty of attractions for vacationers of all ages. If your were there today you could have taken in some good music at The New Brunswick Jazz Project or seen Motown recording artist, Kem. There are plenty of museums and galleries including the Center for Latino Arts and Culture at Rutgers University - New Brunswick, Through the Moongate - Highland Park, Rutgers Geology Museum - New Brunswick and many others.

If your not the concert or museum type, there is plenty for you too. There are several historical sites and tours that you can experience. There is the Bill of Rights Arch Public Square - Perth Amboy, which is a great place to take the kids for a Revolutionary War lesson. The kids will also love all the parks and recreation areas that are in central New Jersey. There is about 7000 acres of park area! The parks are equiped to accomidate all your outdoor activities. Boat ramps, soccer fields, tennis and basketball courts, baseball and softball fields, picnic groves, playgrounds, ponds, tracks and paths for walking/running/biking, street and roller hockey rinks, football fields, bocce courts, performance and observation gazebos, theaters, handball courts and cricket pitches can all be found in the various parks throughout central New Jersey. If that is not enough you have the perinail favorites like Six Flags - Jackson and Crystal Springs Water Park - East Brunswick. These two destination are a definite win with the kids. There are many places to shop as well, if that's your thing.

Take some time to check out New Jersey for your next great family vacation or even that weekend getaway with that special someone.

I had a deadline yesterday for a project that I have been working on for a long time. Unfortunately, like I usually do, I put it off until the last minute. I am really bad about waiting until the last minute to get things done. Somehow, I have convinced myself that I work better under pressure. I know that it can’t be good for my health because I get really flustered and anxious when I don’t have things done on time. Well yesterday, I hit myself with a double whammy and sent myself into some serious stress. While I was working on my computer, I decided that I was going to take a five minute break and log onto http://www.giveadish.com/ and check out the new television packages that were available. My husband and I have been considering upgrading for a while. I was trying to load the page and something was wrong with the internet. All of the sudden my computer froze and wouldn’t respond to anything. It took me forever to even get it to restart. I was terrified when I realized that half of what I had written for the report, hadn’t been saved. I was forced to stay up all night to finish the report. I will never let that happen again!

My husband and I are thrilled that we are expecting our first baby this summer. We recently saw an ad for some Wild Blue Deals, so we decided to get satellite internet. I am so glad we did because I have wanted to sign up for some kind of pregnancy newsletter via email. A friend of mine told me about the one she subscribed to and I decided to subscribe to the same one. It gives me weekly updates on my pregnancy. Each week it compares the baby’s size to a type of fruit. It also gives examples of the types of feelings you may be experience each week. For example, it told me around week 15 that I should start to feel the baby move, although I did not feel any flutters until week 17 or 18. I like knowing what to expect before I experience it. However, I know that every pregnancy is different and I have to remember that when reading these emails.

It is funny how you make friends when you least expect it. I have always had friends from all walks of life. I even still have friends that I made in third grade. Facebook has made it easier to keep in touch with everyone. My best friend, I actually made when we moved to town. Our alarm system installer, Jim, happened to be one of our neighbors. He made us feel really welcome and introduced us to his wife and two children. We all became fast friends. His wife, Linda, and I have a lot in common. We both play tennis and have similar hobbies. I feel like we were so lucky to make such good friends in a town that is two thousand miles away from our families and friends. We have dinner together every week. We even take turns driving carpool at the school. Sometimes, if we are hanging out, Linda and I will both ride to the carpool together. I feel like she is one of those friends that you have when you are a teenager. You do everything together. We laugh at how we met all the time. We call Jim and Linda our Home Security Family.

Breaking my leg was the best thing that ever happened to me. No, really! Then I started thinking about how much I hated my job and how nice it was to be at home instead of in the office and it got me thinking: why don’t I do something different? Our New POOL!

We knew we were after one thing and one thing only when we started the search for our new home: a pool! Since we moved toCalifornia I’ve been dying to get outside and float around in the afternoons and I just couldn’t do that in our old apartment building. It was harder than you’d think finding places that have built in pools so I decided we needed to start looking online, on our own. I signed us up for www.wirelessinternet.net/wireless-broadband/Internet and it didn’t take long before I found the perfect place for us in the MLS listings online. We made an appointment with the owner and before I knew it, we were putting in an offer! He accepted it immediately and it’s now been 3 months since we moved in and we couldn’t be happier. I get to come home from work, put on my swimsuit and head outside to catch some rays…who could ask for anything more? It’s so much better than our old place I can’t even begin to describe it!

I say who cares. People are waking early and having gatherings to celebrate a wedding.... and a wedding that they could not get close to if they wanted to. Commoner Kate Middleton and Prince William decided to get married and that has gotten people so excited.... but for what. First off, 'royalty' in this day and age.... come on. No body covered the royal wedding of Turks and Cacos (not that I wanted to see that either).....lol.... but I would have much rather seen Lisa Rae than Kate Middleton.

As I turned on the news this morning, I was bombarded with all of the pomp and circumstance of this 'royal' show. 1900 guests, including crowned heads, war veterans, sports personalities and celebrities showed up for this ..... WOW! I am not surprised though, people love celebrities and that is what the whole 'royal-thing' is. They are little more than another celebrity couple that every one loves now and will be ultra-critical of, in a very short time.

Spring feelings

Though Spring has already been here for a while, we are now squarely in the middle of the spring season. The weather is pleasant, with the occasional extreme high and low. There are rainy days and rainy weeks. Major League Baseball is getting back in swing, the NBA is in high-gear and headed into the play-offs and the NFL is a-buzz about the Draft and there new prospects.

The best thing about spring is the feeling of renewal that you get. It's like your body and spirit gets a boost of energy and vibrancy. People are animals and in the animal kingdom, Spring represents a revival, the birth of a new cycle and a renaissance! Learn to take advantage of these feelings...

Picking The House I Like Best

One of my favorite shows to watch on satellite TV from www.ExpertSatellite.com is House Hunters. I love the way they give you three homes in a different city each week from which to choose to live in. It allows you to explore cities and neighborhoods you never would have considered otherwise. While mostly the houses they profile are more expensive than I could hope to own, I occasionally catch a show that features affordable houses or town homes. It's always interesting to me to hear what the people are looking for in a house and see how the real estate agent is able to find them property in their price ranges.
Naturally, I always find one house that I like better than the rest and I'm silently cheering it on to be picked by the buyers. I always wish I were the buyer being featured and they were helping me find my new home. My favorite part of the show is at the end when they showcase the new home that was picked and show you how the new homeowner has personalized it and made it their own. Sometimes, the homeowner hasn't had time to fully decorate it yet while others seem to have been completely ready for their new location.

Women... Just a few observations

This is just an observation, but it seems that woman always have something 'wrong' with them. They are always tired or tired of something. They are always pissed off by something (that they can't seem to readjust their attitude after). They don't feel well or they don't feel attractive... etc.

Nothing applies to every person or situation, but I have seen this in and around my life, for years and still can't understand.

I have woman co-workers and woman in my family, that always complain of being tired! These are not senior-citizens, disabled or otherwise, physically impaired woman.Most of the woman I hear complaining of being tired, don't work construction jobs or some other physically strenuous job, most work in offices and sit down most of the day. I understand metal fatigue. I understand that you can feel a bit sluggish at the end of the day, but these 30 and 40 somethings that are constantly tired... I don't get. Now, by no means, am I the model or prototype for anything, but I get a boost of energy when it is time to get off of work.

My Theory....
I believe people talk themselves into being tired everyday. I think they believe they are supposed to tired after a days work, so they convince themselves that they are. If you say "...I'm so tired..." at the end of every work day then your mind and body start to react. I believe many woman speak that "tired" condition into being.

We all have things that irritate us and we get tired of things, but as I go about my day at work, speaking with clients, dealing with family, etc., I always here "I am so tired....". OK, lady, your tired of something everyday. Maybe it is the fact they your tired of something everyday and you let it affect your general disposition. It's OK to be tired of something, right now I am tired of a few persistent situations at my job, but I don't project the irritated, 'I'm tired' to everyone. No one wants to be around some one that is always complaining or 'bitching' about something.... what a downer!

I understand that women tend to have more health issues than me, due to reproductive system, menstruation and all that goes with that, but wow. Every time I turn around something is physically wrong with you? As I am writing this, I here a woman complaining about her feet hurting. Earlier, a different woman was saying she must of ate something bad because her stomach hurt. Now if something hurts that's what it is, but all the time? I think people can speak themselves into feeling sick or feeling bad as well.

How often have... "I heard I hate my hair.... I'm not going..." or "I have nothing to wear". I understand this if you are going to a formal event or really 'going out' somewhere, but for theses things to cause you to have a irritated disposition .... I don't understand that.... Ladies, you must feel beautify for yourself. No one can do that for you and if you look to others to make you feel 'pretty' you will be let down a lot.

Life is very short... live life, don't sweat the small stuff or the stuff you can't change!

These are just my observations and opinions, based on my experiences.....

Is it Really the Thought that Counts?

Here we are at another Holiday season. The time when every one gathers with family and friends to catch up whats happening, share in a good meal and exchange gifts.

Now you have all heard it before..."...it's not the gift, but the thought behind it..."

My questions is (in relation to your 'friend' or 'significant other')

Is the gift (what it is) more important or is it the "thought" that really matters?

A lot of thought can be put into a lame gift and very little thought is required to buy the most expensive gift

Try First!!!

I don't mind helping people when they are unable to do something. I will even go out of my way to be of assistance, but there is one thing that gets under my skin. Don't ask me for assistance if you have not even tried to perform the task for yourself!

I understand that there are exceptions to everything, but, practically speaking, if you have not given something an honest effort, then how do you know your not capable of doing it? Is it just easier to get some one else to do it for you? What happens when there is no one around to help?

I contend that people, often want you to do them a favor, but disguise it behind the "i-can't-do-it" act. They figure that a person is more willing to help if they think the person they are helping, simply, isn't capable. This also plays to the helper's ego, because they get a feeling of being needed. People will quickly get tired of too many 'favor' requests, but are more tolerant of 'helping'.

If you had a friend that was putting together a computer desk and you stopped by to visit for a moment. They have all the parts out the box, spread across the floor and they are holding two pieces in their hands; looking to you they say "how do I connect these together". My question to them is "Have your read the directions?", "Have your tried to use a screw?".... etc.

My point is this... try before you seek assistance! You just may learn something new.

Driving me Crazy

Most people can't drive! I really believe that. I ride around and wonder if I was the only one that had to go to driving school. Now we all have our moments, but the things I see on the road are crazy. Be a defensive and on-point driver... an accident is just too much hassle ...even if you aren't wrong

How about:

Use a blinker.... You don't want any one hitting your ride and me as the dude behind you ... don't want to hit you. if you about to make a move (pull out of a parking place, changing lanes, turning), throw your blinker on.
You see the merge sign just like I did! If you are riding down the road and you see a big flashing arrow telling you that your lane is ending.... just get over don't try to ride the lane out then force your way in... you gain nothing from doing this, maybe a few car lengths.
Why are you riding me so close? Give me some space... suppose I have to slam on my brakes.... boom you hit me in the back.... your wrong !
Are you racing light to light? We will probably still get there at the same time
Don't block the driveway or intersection.... just because your light is red, don't hold me up! Stop short of the driveway or intersection you idiot. It's not like you can go on a red light any way.

OR:

Why are you driving so slow.... until I want to pass you.... then all of a sudden you feel the need for speed. It's ok if you want to go slow, but don't hate on me cause I want to go around you
Why are you blowing your horn.... the light just changed ... not even 2 seconds ago.... hold your horses!
Stop being so nosey. If you wan to know whats happening on the side of the road.... pull over..
Please, if your in a hurry and must turn out in front of me ....when there is no one behind me.... then at least keep pace and don't slow me up.
Pay Attention!!!!

The Pursuit of "STUFF"

A lot of people work hard every day so that they can get "stuff". Understand, I like "stuff" as much as the next person, but why do you really want all that "stuff". Think about it.

People buy the biggest house, they ~~can't afford~~ can barely afford. They buy the luxury car that they ~~can't afford~~ can barely afford to have the oil changed. They spend their last on the most expensive and trendy clothes. People vacation 4 and 5 times a year.

All of which is fine if that's your thing, but really, why?

I don't want to work just to pay bills!

Do we ever consider saving a few dollars? Do we ever think of investing a few dollars? Do we ever think of getting ahead of the bill payments? Do we ever think of building wealth instead accumulating "STUFF"?

You don't celebrate Thanksgiving?

This Thanksgiving was great for me, but, honestly I can't remember a bad Thanksgiving!

I heard some interesting comments this Thanksgiving. I heard people say "I don't celebrate Thanksgiving". OK. I am thinking,'Thanksgiving is not a religious holiday...' why don't they celebrate Thanksgiving? I don't knock any one for what they choose to celebrate or not celebrate, but the reason I heard (from more than one person) for not celebrating Thanksgiving were a bit lame to me!

The main reason for not celebrating Thanksgiving was like this:

"I don't celebrate Thanksgiving because I don't need some one to tell me to get together with my family and have dinner, I do that regularly and everyone should already be doing that any way."

Men Are Just Happier People-- What do you expect from such simple creatures. Your last name stays put. The garage is all yours. Wedding plans take care of themselves. Chocolate is just another snack. You can be President. You can never be pregnant. You can wear a white T-shirt to a water park. You can wear NO shirt to a water park. Car mechanics tell you the truth. The world is your urinal. You never have to drive to another gas station restroom because this one is just too icky. You don't have to stop and think of which way to turn a nut on a bolt.. Same work, more pay. Wrinkles add character.. Wedding dress $5000. Tux rental-$100. People never stare at your chest when you're talking to them. New shoes don't cut, blister, or mangle your feet.

One mood all the time.

Phone conversations are over in 30 seconds flat. You know stuff about tanks. A five-day vacation requires only one suitcase. You can open all your own jars. You get extra credit for the slightest act of thoughtfulness. If someone forgets to invite you, he or she can still be your friend.

Your underwear is $8.95 for a three-pack.. Three pairs of shoes are more than enough. You almost never have strap problems in public. You are unable to see wrinkles in your clothes. Everything on your face stays its original color. The same hairstyle lasts for years, maybe decades. You only have to shave your face and neck.

You can play with toys all your life. One wallet and one pair of shoes -- one color for all seasons. You can wear shorts no matter how your legs look. You can 'do' your nails with a pocket knife.. You have freedom of choice concerning growing a mustache.

You can do Christmas shopping for 25 relatives on December 24 in 25 minutes.

No wonder men are happier.

Social Cues - Learn to Recognize

I am convinced that more and more people have no concept of social cues or at the very least, cannot recognized them. Just a few things....

1. If your talking to a person and you notice they are still bobbing their head to the music and giving you short answers; stop talking, they aren't paying you much attention and your probably becoming annoying.

2. If your on the phone and people keep saying things like...'well... just holla at me..." or "wow.. it's getting late..." or their answers are reduced to "yeah.... oh, ok.... really". Recognize that they either want or need to get off the phone. Don't use that moment of silence before the 'good-byes' to start a new topic of discussion.

3. If some one is reciting significant parts of the story you are telling, you probably have told that story to that person too much. They know the story and don't really need you to repeat it.

4. If your speaking to some one and you notice they take a step or two back.... don't you step forward, recognize that they feel that you are too close. Respect their space!

5. If they didn't answer the phone... they were busy, the phone was not near, they couldn't talk or they didn't want to talk! Just because I have a cell phone does not mean I am always available... what did you do when it was only home phones.... you left a message or just called back later.
