New Seat Belt Law

I was reading that we have a new seat belt law in Illinois. Now everyone in the car, even in the backseat has to have a seat belt. Now I think you should be able to choose weather you want to wear one or not. But that is just my thought.. But they say if the cop can't see a belt in the back seat he can pull you over. Well for me and probably many others this is going to be a problem. I have two shoulder belts and a lap belt. So every time a cop doesn't see the middle one I'm most likely gonna get pulled over. Fun Fun.

I really love doing research on my family history. I research probly 3 or 4 hours a day and work on my website. I have been called a Gene-Aholic but thats ok. I really enjoy doing it and you learn so many things, some are good and some not so good lol. The best thing I have found about doing this, would have to be the fact that I have been able to connect with long lost family and some new family members. So this has been alot of fun and a interesting journay for me. So as I said in my last post you will probly be seeing alot of Genealogy stuff coming up. I would really like it if you could visit my family website as well. I'm still working on it and hope to have the site as big as I can.

Well I have not been on here in so long I don't really remember most of it..lol. I do miss my random blogging though :). I mean who wouldn't miss just writing about what ever they want when ever they want right? Anyway my new thing as been Genealogy. I started it along long time ago but stop doing it about 5 years ago. Well alittle while back I sat down and decided to get back into it. I started from scratch, and now I'm building a website to go along with it. So be sure to check out the link to it. And of course you will probly be seeing more stuff on here about Genealogy as well. Its good to be back :)

The "Twilight" story originally came to writer Stephenie Meyer in a dream. Bella, a human teenager, moves to the Pacific Northwest, and there, amid the rain, the ferns, and the redwoods, she falls in with rival gangs of vampires and werewolves. Chaos (and romance), of course, ensues.

But Meyer, an aspiring writer and mother of three, could never have dreamed of the success she would experience thanks to her books. Fans have snatched up 100 million copies of the four novels ("Twilight," "New Moon," "Eclipse," and "Breaking Dawn"), which have been translated into 39 different languages.

That success helped Meyer earn $40 million this year, ranking her 59th on the Forbes Celebrity 100 list. Last year, thanks in part to her non-"Twilight" book "The Host," Meyer ranked 16th with $50 million. Her newest book, a spinoff of the "Twilight" series titled "The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner," should bump her up the list again next year, especially since the story's release is timed to coincide with the third "Twilight" film, "Eclipse," which hits theaters June 30.

And "Eclipse" should be a blockbuster; it's expected to make $75 million during its opening weekend alone, according to Exhibitor Relations. The series is already one of the most profitable in recent movie history. The first two "Twilight" films cost a reported cumulative $90 million to produce and have earned $1.1 billion at the box office. That's helped turn tiny Summit Entertainment into a growing film studio. Summit is also behind films like Oscar-winner "The Hurt Locker," "Knowing," and "Furry Vengeance."

The films also created three insanely popular movie stars: Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner. Pattinson makes his debut on the Forbes Celebrity 100 this year in 50th place with $17 million in earnings. Most of that is from the "Twilight" films where he plays vampire Edward Cullen. But Pattinson also starred in the film "Remember Me," which was a modest success at the box office, and he'll appear in the film adaptation of "Water for Elephants" opposite Reese Witherspoon in 2011.

Kristen Stewart, who plays Bella Swan, also debuts on the list this year. Because Stewart has fewer non-"Twilight" projects than Pattinson (her only other recent work was in the tiny film "The Runaways" where she starred as Joan Jett) she earned $12 million between June 2009 and June 2010, ranking 66th on our list.

Both stars were paid relatively little for their initial work on the films but they have become indispensable to the "Twilight" franchise. That means they can both ask for pay raises for upcoming movies. The final book, "Breaking Dawn," will be split into two films, which will give Stewart and Pattinson the opportunity to double their upfront pay for their final "Twilight" work.

Taylor Lautner didn't make the list this year, but he's sure to debut on our next list. Lautner, who plays werewolf Jacob Black, made a big impression in "New Moon," which hit theaters November 2009. He was such a hit that Hollywood studios immediately started fighting each other to cast him in superhero franchises. Universal Pictures won out, offering the young actor a reported $7.5 million to star in "Stretch Armstrong," based on the Hasbro toy. The movie is slated to hit theaters in March 2012.

Quileute Indian Tribe

Encompassed by the Olympic National Park rainforests, the Quileute tribe's 640-acre reservation lies at the mouth of the Quillayute River in La Push, Washington. The Quileute tribe resides midway between the Makah Nation and the Quinault Indian Nation.

Legend holds that a supernatural transformer fashioned the Quileute from wolves. The tribe's ancestry purportedly reaches back to the Ice Age, which would make them the most ancient inhabitants of the Pacific Northwest. The Quileute dialect was part of the Chimakuan language family tree.

The Quileute hunted sea mammals and fished. They were accomplished whalers and sealers. They built cedar canoes that ranged in capacity from two-man crafts to vessels capable of conveying 6,000 pounds of freight. The Quileute spun long dog hair into warm blankets and wove fine baskets — some of them capable of holding water. Interaction with neighboring tribes involved intermarriage, trade, and the potlatch, an important status ceremony that redistributed wealth. On occasion, trespassing triggered warfare or slave raiding.

Extended families of Quileute resided in long winter houses at the mouths of streams. Each structure was occupied by a headman, nobility, commoners, and sometimes slaves taken from neighboring tribes. During the summer, they disbanded into small units, some heading upriver to hunting camps.

Quileutes relied upon, and were answerable to, supernatural powers. Youths searched for their personal guardian power (taxilit) on individual "spirit quests." The first-salmon ceremony ensured the salmon spirit's good will. Other similiar rituals addressed the spirits.

The Quileute people remained isolated from white contact until American captain Robert Gray arrived in May 1792 and took up trading with them. There also are early accounts of shipwrecked Spanish explorers who ended up living with them.

Aggressive, land-hungry settlers began to arrive in the 1830s. The first official contacts with the U.S. government occurred in 1855, when the Quileutes and others negotiated the Quinault River Treaty with representatives of Territorial Governor Isaac Stevens. On January 25, 1856, Chief How-yak and two assistants trekked to Olympia to ink the treaty.

In so doing, they relinquished more than 800,000 acres of old-growth timberland, flush with fish and wildlife, in the Quillayute River basin. In exchange, the treaty provided rights for the Quileute to hunt, fish and gather in the ancestral way on relinquished lands. In addition, they were promised health care, schooling and vocational training. The document also assigned the Quileute people to live on the Quinault Reservation in Taholah, but they refused to move. However, the Quileute territory was so remote that the stipulation was not enforced.

In 1882, the dominant society's bent on acculturation reached the Quileute at the village of La Push in the person of teacher A.W. Smith, who set up a school. Among other things, he proceeded to rename Quileutes from American and Scriptural personages, as well as to anglicize Quileute names.

In February 1889, an executive order of President Benjamin Harrison established a one-mile-square reservation at La Push, which had 252 inhabitants at the time. That year, all 26 houses at La Push were torched by a settler who coveted the land on which they had stood.

An act on March 4, 1904 prompted the commissioner of Indian affairs to declare the Quileutes eligible to receive land allotments on the reservation as stipulated in their 1856 treaty. In 1928, the government completed the allotments by granting each of 165 Quileutes an 80-acre tract on the Quinault Reservation.

In 1936 the tribe adopted a home-rule constitution and bylaws. That was, in part, a response to the Indian Reorganization Act of 1934:

"An Act to conserve and develop Indian lands and resources; to extend to Indians the right to form business and other organizations; to establish a credit system for Indians; to grant certain rights of home rule to Indians; to provide for vocational education for Indians; and for other purposes."

Robert Pattinson wins Performance of the Year

HollywoodNews.com: For the Best Performance of the Year 2010 category of the National Movie Awards, the UK honored one of its own. Beating out 18 other nominees (including “New Moon” co-stars Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner), Robert Pattinson walked away with the prize.

Though Rob wasn’t there to accept the award himself, the show aired his acceptance speech as part of a video statement: “As you can see, I’m on location shooting my next film, ‘Water for Elephants’. Thank you for honoring me with the award for ‘Best Performance’. It means a lot to me because you, the fans, decide the winner. Thank you again for voting for me and voting for everything Twilight.”

The UK-based 2010 National Movie Awards aired tonight in London at 8PM local time. Though not all Twilight actors managed to score wins, the franchise did as well as it possibly could. Kristen and Taylor lost to Rob in the ‘Best Performance of the Year’ category, but “New Moon” and “Eclipse” both won in the categories in which they were nominated: ‘Best Movie: Fantasy’ and ‘Most Anticipated Movie of the Summer’, respectively.

Though Rob has been written off by some as a dispensable beyond the world of Twilight, current projects with Oscar-winning co-stars and, certainly, this award, are coming just in time. Fans who believe in the actor are thrilled by accelerating signals of Rob’s artistic credibility.

Stephenie Meyer's life changed dramatically on June 2, 2003. The stay-at-home mother of three young sons woke up from a dream featuring seemingly real characters that she could not get out of her head.

"Though I had a million things to do, I stayed in bed, thinking about the dream. Unwillingly, I eventually got up and did the immediate necessities, and then put everything that I possibly could on the back burner and sat down at the computer to write—something I hadn't done in so long that I wondered why I was bothering."

Meyer invented the plot during the day through swim lessons and potty training, and wrote it out late at night when the house was quiet. Three months later she finished her first novel, Twilight. With encouragement from her older sister (the only other person who knew she had written a book), Meyer submitted her manuscript to various literary agencies. Twilight was picked out of a slush pile at Writer's House and eventually made its way to the publishing company Little, Brown where everyone fell immediately in love with the gripping, star-crossed lovers.

Twilight was one of 2005's most talked about novels and within weeks of its release the book debuted at #5 on The New York Times bestseller list. Among its many accolades, Twilight was named an "ALA Top Ten Books for Young Adults," an Amazon.com "Best Book of the Decade...So Far", and a Publishers Weekly Best Book of the Year.

The highly-anticipated sequel, New Moon, was released in September 2006, and spent more than 25 weeks at the #1 position on The New York Times bestseller list.

In 2007, Eclipse literally landed around the world and fans made the Twilight Saga a worldwide phenomenon! With midnight parties and vampire-themed proms the enthusiasm for the series continued to grow.

On May 6, 2008, Little, Brown and Company released The Host, Meyer's highly-anticipated novel for adults which debuted at #1 on The New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestseller lists. The Host still remains a staple on the bestseller lists more than a year after its debut.
