Hi,this is the last poll analysis and last article for this blog.The poll question of this week is "Do you think our blog provide accurate and clear information?"The results clearly shows that 77.8% of respondents say yes, and 22.2% of respondent say no.Most of the viewers think that we provide accurate and clear information. Our blog has briefly explain and intro about e-learning. We find the information from online and the text book of e-learning. We try to find a good topic and hope that the information that we post up is usable.

Some of respondents think that we not provide accurate and clear information, we are sorry about it and try to improve. I think some of article of this blog are not details enough so respondents cannot get what we trying to say. Anyway,thanks for support in this a few months.

My definition of E-learning

E-learning defined as delivery of a learning, training or education program by electronic devices like use of computer, mobile phone and so on. There are the most common definition of E-learning but after I maintain this blog, I have another definition of E-learning.

My definition of E-learning is people can learn through Internet or electronic devices, not only some courses or programs but knowledge. Other than that, I also think that when people read an article, a picture or anything that can give them some thought and make people think about it are consider E-learning.

For example, I read an article about a story between husband and wife. The story is about the fighting between them and how the husband using unexpected way to solve the problem. This article is very simple yet touching, the important thing is it teach me how to maintain or handle the relationship. Yes, I really learn from this article, although it just an email and I learn something from the Internet. Therefore, for me, It consider E-learning.

Actually, when a person who have a heart to learn something, they can learn anywhere no matter is at school, college, shopping mall, home, movie and so on.

There have a proverb said "Live to old to learn" and this blog is about e-learning. Therefore, whoever want to study but never take action because of the age or finance, you can throws away all the useless though. Take action now to choose E-learning to continue your study. At this field,nobody will care about what your age or look like. Have financial problem? In our post consist of a E-learning subjects which is free of charge.

So, what are you waiting for? Take action now!

Last but not least, maybe you might not agree with my definition of e-learning but what I try to said is everyone have their own thought and value. Hello everybody~!

This is the last post for me, haha

I'm EXCITED, LOL..

Recently I had found that an UTM ( University Teknologi Malaysia) has provide e-learning courses. UTM is the largest engineering-based university located at the southern tip of Peninsular Malaysia. It is renowned for being at the forefront of engineering and technological knowledge and expertise. UTM has also established a reputation for innovative education and leading-edge research, with a vision to educating technologists and professionals, towards the development of creative human resource and advanced technological innovations.

You can search more information from the homepage of UTM. The sites will explain to you what is e-learning, the advantages of taking e-learning courses, and shows you the example of how lecturer use e-learning in teaching and learning. Furthermore, they also provide the video about the opinion of the students and lecturer of what they think about e-learning and how the technology helps in their studies.

In my opinion, this is a good chance for some local students who are interested on e-learning to let them gain more information about e-learning. This is because there is rarely of university or college that has provides e-learning courses in Malaysia. UTM has explained in detail and solve some question of the students. The poll title of week 8 is "Would e-learning be a trend in Malaysia", the poll result indicate that 60% of respondent think that e-learning won't be a trend in Malaysia. Whereas, 40% of respondent think that e-learning would be a trend in Malaysia.

From the poll result we think that Malaysia still cannot accept self-studying at home because we are used to having lecturer to guide us. We do not have the motivation and determination of self-studying because it is said that procrastination is a popular Malaysian culture and as e-learning needs a strong will to study by oneself alone all the time. Therefore, it is most likely be unsuccessful for students in Malaysia. This is the opinion of majority of the students but there is always a small amount of people that would think otherwise.

Like in all other matters, there is always two sides with opposing thoughts, as said, this small group of people who thinks e-learning is workable means they have the will to execute the idea of self study or maybe they might also be people who have financial difficulties and because e-learning is cheaper, therefore they opt for e-learning. This is also more preferred by working adults where they want to expand their knowledge but work at the same time. As e-learning is considered as a self study method where you can choose where and when to study, they would have the flexibility to study according to their workload.

RIT's Distance Learning Program

Most colleges and universities have distance learning departments that are featured on the school's website. There are a model distance learning department at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) which has been offering distance learning courses to students for more than 20 years.

To get to the RIT's distance learning section on the web, log on to http://www.rit.edu/ and click the links Prospective Students and then Distance Learning. The direct URL is http://distancelearning.rit.edu/.

According to the RIT, the distance learning courses have the same objectives, rigorous workload, tuition, and academic credit as on-campus courses. Currently, RIT offers eight graduate degrees, three graduate certificates, three undergraduate degrees, and nine undergraduate certificates, all at a distance. Students can enroll in a single course, multiple courses, or in a complete degree or certificate program.

To get an idea of how RIT provides distance learning courses to its students- which is similar to that of most colleges and universities- click the Programs and Courses link in the left sidebar. Go to the Select a Link pull-down menu and select Q&A. It will shows a page that explains exactly how to register for and take a typical distance learning course at RIT.

Recently i found a site which is call One Stop Online Open Tuition from Malaysia. The purpose of this site is provide online tuition to the students. It is mainly focus on primary to secondary school students. This site provide the question from each state and share with the students. Other than that, it is also provide any latest education information to the students.

Furthermore, it is also provide method of study and promote other sites of e-learning site in Malaysia. This is really make me surprise because now only i realize e-learning is start to "hot" in our country.

In my opinion, This site is quite interesting for me, although i am a college students, but i still can revise the previous lesson that i had learn in secondary school. This make me gain more knowledge. But, it need to pay, so i think i won't register because i am poor. Do you think that e-learning can change behavior and attitude of a prisoner?

The poll 7 result shows stated that 66.70% of people think that e-learning can change behavior and attitude of a prisoner. Then, 11.10% of people disagreed of e-learning can change behavior and attitude of a prisoner and 22.20% of people think that knowledge can change their destiny.

From the results of Poll 7, it shows that e-learning can change behavior and attitude of a prisoner. This is because most of the people think that everyone have a chance to change. The purpose to keep the prisoner into jail is to let them change their behavior and correct their minded. E-learning is a good method to help the prisoner. It can let the prisoner gain more knowledge and find their purpose of life. This will bring benefits for themselves and also the society. So, this is why around 22.20% of people think that knowlege can change their destiny.

Moreover, there is also 11.10% of people disagreed with this topic. They think that e-learning can't change behavior and attitude of prisoner. This is because people don't believe that a prisoner deserve to change because they have do wrong for once. They judge that prisoner can't change themselves because they had did the wrong things.

In my opinion, i think that everyone should have the chance to change. We cannot judge a personality of a person just because they do wrong and we don't think that they will change their attitude and behavior anymore. I believe e-learning is the best choice to help the prisoner by let them gain more knowledge, let them know what is suppose to do in certain situation. Open University Malaysia is the seventh private university in Malaysia and it adopts the motto “University of All” which consistent with its philosophy on democratization of education. OUM actually targeted at working adults who need to take care of their families at the same time manage their careers while pursuing higher education.

In my opinion, OUM have a good principles which means that everyone in the world can learn, no matter how good or how bad your result is, what is your economic background, who you are, you still can study in OUM. The best thing is, even you stop study for few years, but you still can study at OUM and the working experience can help you in your study as well. Through OUM, working adults can upgrade their knowledge and skills which can help them in their career to get better job or better allowance. Other than that, the working adults can also take care of their family likewise study in the campus.

Do you think e-learning is effective for nursing program?

Below is the result of poll question of week 6 shows that 12.5% of people agree that e-learning for those who have no time. Besides, 25% of people agree that the course sites consists of video, with specific instructions for effective demonstrations. Other than that, 43.8% of people disagree that e-learning because students can understand better through live demonstration and actual demonstration. 31.3% of people disagree e-learning for nursing program because nursing programs need a lot of practical.

From the analysis of this poll question, we can conclude that e-learning is not effective for nursing program, because more than half respondents disagree e-learning for nursing program. I think that nursing program does not allow learner to see the live demonstrations. Moreover, nursing courses need a lot of practical but learner just can study at home without touching and practice.

Furthermore, people who agree e-learning is effective for nursing programs, it because e-learning more save time and some of the learner may work and practice at the work place. Besides, nowadays most of the organization that offerred online nursing, the course sites also consists of video, with specific instruction for effective demonstration. It because it can let learner more understand.

For me, I don't think e-learning is effective for nursing programs because nursing program really need a lot of practical, but for e-learner they even can't feel and touch the actual demonstration. Other than that, e-learner can't know their reaction of the spot when operation.

With e- learning becoming a important part of your learning architecture, there will be a number of changes in classroom based learning strategies.

How the Web will Change the Classroom?

The classroom will no longer be the default delivery system

In the past, the development of classroom training was almost automatic action and it is a only way to continue our studies. As e-learning systems are established, the use of classroom learning is where more justification will be required.

The synergies between e-learning and classroom learning will become more refined.

As e-learning capabilities are organize, organizations will find new uses for classroom learning. This will cause the amount of classroom training decrease, but the importance of classroom experiences that still stay will certainly grow. The combination of the two will become central to a successful learning architecture, each contributing and perform its unique value.

There will be less teaching and more facilitating

As the classroom learning moves from teaching facts to applying concepts, from reviewing procedures to generating new ideas, the role of instructor willc hange from the all. In addition to the instructor, knowledge will come from a greater variety of sources, including exchange knowledge communities with learners via Web access, and outside experts ( either live or via technology).

Course start and end dates will become increasingly irrelevant

With Web access, learning can begin the previous class if they missed and continue long although the class is over. This is especially true for commnunity building among the students and for follow-up access to updated content and expertise. Furthermore, because of the increasing differences in the backgrounds, knowledge level, motivation, and availability of people, it will become increasingly difficult to find enough people who are ready at the same time for the same classroom course.

After this discussion, i felt that there is certain strengths and weaknesses of this topic. In my opinion, we have to maintain the quality in both sides to avoid the problems before it's happen,thx..:)

Recently, i had found a Articulate blog called World of Mouth. It is talk about web-publishing, software support experience and also information about e-learning. One of the post is talk about a professor from Miami University, Ohio - Middletown campus. The main subject she teach is physics courses. She holds an undergraduate degree in physics and a master degree in education.She tend to change the way of learning physics.Miami University was invited her and the Center Online Learning (CoOL) to assist the distance learning courses of school of nursing.

The nursing school needed to build up activities immidiately for associate the degree nursing student who were searching for bachelor's degree in nursing. In this situation, most of the nurses are working , and their working time sometimes is different with others. So, attending a normal lecturer class tend to be a problem for them. The evaluation team, led by Hurn, has recommended Articuate Rapid E-learning Studio as the technology to assist creating the online courses.

Says Hurn:
“Our lectures were PowerPoint-based, so Articulate Presenter was a natural fit. The fact that our instructors and course authors could work within PowerPoint and easily enhance the courses for online learning was exciting in and of itself. The results have been excited. Hurn has observed the following:
-She can able to deliver a lecture in a 15-minute e-learning course instead of took one hour in a classroom lecturer who need to waste one hour.

-The Articulate-authored courses provide for easy navigation and allow students to repeat sections or even skip sections altogether. This allows students to learn at their own pace.
Class time can be used for more lab-oriented or collaborative activities.

-Some lab demonstrations are difficult to reproduce. She purchased a Flip Video recorder and records her lab demonstrations. After this article, i had found that e-learning is really helpful for nursing programs. This brings a lot of convenient to the students and absolutely for the lecturer. Although there is not face-to-face interaction, but the student and lecturer also can discuss their problem via many social network features. Financial aid is assistance meant to help you pay for school. Some of schools allow students taking e-learning courses online to have financial aid but others do not. You will need to contact any school you're interested in to see what their specific financial aid policies and requirements are for students taking online courses.

Most financial aid programs fall into two categories:

Grants and Scholarships
Grants and scholarships are types of financial aid that you don't have to repay under normal circumstances. If you withdraw from a course or fail to maintain eligibility by sucessful meeting certain criteria, you may be required to repay part or all of a grant or schorlarship, depending on the particular award's rules.

Self-Help Financial Aid
Self-help financial aid consists of student loans and work study programs. Loans are types of asistance that you have to repay after you complete your degree. Normally, student loans have lower interest rates than other kinds of loans and some don't require interest payments while you in school.

In my opinion, financial needed not necessarily the amount of money that we think we will need to take course. This is the different between the cost to attend school and the amount that our family expected to pay toward our education. For me, I would apply student loan toward my study because it can treat as a preparation of emengency use. If our family facing financial problem suddenly,we still can rely on this student loan to continue our study.

Maybe it just a few money, but when we really need money, it really very useful for us. Maybe it can help our family to go through the financial, but at least we can release their burden. So, I recommend that those who want to continue their further study, please try to apply the financial aid, its really very useful for those who facing financial problem. Are you agree?

Do you think e-learning is an effective way to continue your studies?

The poll 4 result shows that 69% of respondent think that they prefer study at college or university that study through internet. 22% of respondent think that it much more convenience and flexible. 8% of respondent have no comment with e-learning.

This analysis shows that most of the people like in-campus study than e-learning although it much more convenience and flexible. For my opinion, this is because people like to feel and face to face to lecturer or other. Study in campus actually can improve personal communication skills and enhance the relationship between each other. This can help in learning and student can actually experience it.

For those who will choose e-learning to continue their studies, maybe they have no time to go to the campus. They maybe are career people or businessman,or those who have their own business to handle but they want to learn something new or extra that may help them in their industries. E-learning really is a good investment for them, it can let them continue learning at the same time doing their business.

The result shows that there are still some of the people do not know about e-learning. This really disappointing me. Let tell them "Is time to learn something new!". Anyone have any comment, please leave a comment. Thank you.

e-learning in prison

Prisoners are encouraged to take courses on e-learning in prison. Prisoners can do their learning in their free time, without missing out on other structured activities and can choose from a wide range of courses on e-learning. E-learning have many advantages for prisoners that staying in prison. Besides, it can take a fresh approach to learning and learning upon release.

Other than that, it will give prisoners choice and opportunity to develop new skills and gain qualifications which will strengthen their employment prospects after leaving and working in the outside world. Some of the prison is providing the relax environment to allow prisoners to build their skills and knowledge.

In my opinion, taking courses on e-learning in prison is really useful for prisoners. It can makes them spend their time wisely. In my imagination, prisoners keep fighting and killing in prison. It because they can do nothing in prison, so just can do such things to spend their times. But all of this just my imagination, may be i watched a lot of movie that telling us "one day in prison equals to uncountable days in hell".

Moreover, i totally agree it will increase opportunity of employment upon leaving. Nowadays, there are many learning centre that offerred e-learning in prison. Unfortunely, in Malaysia there are no organization or learning centres offerred e-learning in prison.

E-learning for Kids is a free learning website and it established in late 2004. It is a global, nonprofit, foundation committed to fun and free learning on the Internet for children from ages 5 - 12. The staff on this website are all volunteer which included committed education e-learning experts and business professionals from around the world.

The courses that they offered include science, math, language arts, computer skills, health and life skills, English language and so on. The courses in this website are all in game form which can let the kids more interested and willing to learn.

This website is very colorful and it can really attract children attention. This is because, children pay more attention on color and game. When the kids are happy, they will easier to absorb and learn. Besides that, it also willing to help parents on the education.

In my opinion, Children is our future and also future of our country. Therefore, education is very importance to them. One of my lecturer said, learning will be easier and fast when we learn through touching and watching. I will introduced this website to my brother and sister because they have their own children and this website can really help their children. So, what is you point of view? Is this website cool? Analysis of the poll 3 result

What personal qualities and values does anyone need to become a successful e-students?

The poll 3 results states that 45.5% of people have agreed that highly motivation is the main requirement to become a successful e-student, while 27.3% of people think that stress management will be the appropriate personal qualities and value to become a successful e-students. Moreover, 18.2% of people think that self-confidence is the most suitable qualities and value to become a successful e-students. Besides that, 9.1% of people think that a successful e-student should able to manage paperwork and there is 0% of people think that intelligence will be the appropriate way to become a successful e-students.

From the result of the analysis, it is clearly shows that high motivation is the most appropriate personal qualities and values to become a successful e-student. A student who choose e-learning should have highly motivation to continue their studies compare with student who study in college or university.The main reason they choose e-learning is they lack of time to college, they have to work, they can't afford to study at overseas and they have highly motivation to upgrade their studies even they know e-learning need to put more effort compare with the normal students who study in college or university. This is why highly motivation is the most important values a e-learner should have because you are working alone and you must be able to work independently.

Besides that, stress management is also the main requirement to become a successful e-students. This is because e-learning has not fixed time classes. Students should have the ability to manage their time so that they can study with convenience and flexible.

Students should have self-confidence to their own decision in their studies because the lecturer or instructor will not always lead you or help you for your decision making, so you must have confident to think carefully with your subject and able to manage the paperwork without the face to face interaction with lecturer.

Intelligent is not a main values to become a successful e-students. A student who only have intelligent but not hardworking would not become a successful and responsible e-students. I think this is why people agree with intelligent is not a important qualities and values to become a successful e-students.

Online distance learning is obviously not for everyone. You are not suitable to choose e-learning if you need to face to face feedback from your lecturer or teacher and if you need interaction with fellow student in order to successful for your studies. Furthermore, taking an online classes will be working alone at your computer workstation, although you do have some interaction via electronic communication links, but it is different as face to face interaction and feedback. So, taking online classes take a lot of discipline and ability to work independently.

There are some web-based resources available to help you decide if you are cut out for online distance education. You will have the opportunity to take some online quizzes that can tell you more about the possibility of your online success. There is also some methods for evaluating distance learning programs.

1. About.com site, in the Distance Learning section, is an suitable place to start investigating what it takes to be a successful online student, as well as what you should know before enrolling in any online courses.

Where did you know about e-learning?

The poll 2 question of this week 2 shows that 16.7% of respondent know about e-learning from book. 33.3% of respondent know about e-learning from their friends and family. Besides, 50% of the respondent know about e-learning from internet.

From this analysis on this poll question can see that most of respondent know about e-learning from internet and there are nobody do not know about e-learning. Moreover,some of respondents know about e-learning from books and their friend and family. From this analysis,I realise that searching and chatting online are more popular than before even some of them can't live without computer. Online already become their daily routine, it is main reason why e-learning become more popular and people that choose to study through e-learning are increasing.

Minority of the respondents are know about e-learning from books it because we cannot read something that related e-learning from our text book. Unless we go library and book shops to get it. Moreover, some respondents that know about e-learning from friends and family. They might know about it from their friends and family that studying through e-learning. Through this poll, we know that every respondents know about e-learning.

I know about e-learning from books. I saw this kind of books in Inti's library accidentally. If you're free and interested on it, may be you can go there to borrow some books.

Who are e-learning students?

E-learning students are people from all walks of life who want to further their educations but cannot commit to on-campus program for one reason or another.

According to a 2008 survey by Department of Education, the average of e-learning student is over 25 years of age, employed, and has some previous college experience. Besides, results that chose e-learning, female and male students are the same. And e-learning have proven to be highly motivated and disciplined in their studies.

Nowadays, people who taking courses through e-learning are increasing. It because people can complete most of the coursework for online classes when it's convenient for them. Most online courses are asynchronous,which means they need not attend a lecture at particular place and time, this convenience is entirely suited to today's society.

All degree institutions of higher education learning have Web sites, but their URL (it's also call domain names) are not dot coms. As a reminder, URL stands for Uniform Resource Locator and is a Web sites global address. The URL suffix(also called TLD for Top Level Domain) for colleges and universities worldwide is .edu.

You can find the college or university that you interested easily by entering the school's name into your selected search engine. You will see the .edu suffix in your search result. :)

Today, we will discuss the result of the poll question

"Would you choose E-learning to your further studies?"

According to the result, it shows that 58,82% of respondent would not choose E-learning to their further studies and 41.18% of the respondent would choose E-learning to their further studies.

Most of the respondent would not choose e-learning to their further studies. E-learning need higher motivation so people that low self control would not choose e-learning to their further studies. Besides, most of the people would think that on-campus are more interesting than online study. On-campus can makes many new friends but e-learning just taking online courses from home doesn't commuting, it would be less social life compare with on-campus.

For me, I would choose E-learning to my further studies. It because E-learning can saves more time, i can study and work at the same time and this saves my time and money as well. Moreover, I being able to take classes from home and working on assignments on my own schedule . This is my opinion. How about you?

Nothing is perfect,no doubt e-learning having many advantages for e-student but everything have disadvantages. Today i want to share some disadvantages of e-learning, it's problem of access, software and files, high motivation, isolation. Through this article, we will let you more undertand about e-learning.

By combining the latest technology and new thinking of the Internet on how people learn, it really bringing people a lot of convenient. In fact, completely rely on internet and computer also not a best way to study and learn.

Below is the 4 major disadvantages of e-learning

1.Access
At first, learners need to have access to a computer as well as the Internet. Besides that, they need to have computer skills with programs such as word processing, Internet browsers, and e-mail. It is impossible for the learner to succeed in e-learning without computer skills and software .

Slow internet connections or older edition computers will difficult on accessing course materials .

This is the big trouble for those are not comfortable using computer so this may cause learners to give up.

2.Software and files
Another disadvantage is managing computer files, software comfortability and learning new software, including eLearning. For learners with beginner-level computer skills it can sometimes seem complex to keep their computer files organized. The lesson points you to download a file which the learner does and later cannot find the file. The file is downloaded to the folder the computer automatically opens to rather than a folder chosen by the learner. This file may be lost or misplaced to the learner without good computer organizational skills.

3.High motivation
One of the advantages of eLearning is it requires time to complete especially those with assignments and interactive collaborations. This means that students have to be highly motivated and responsible because all the work they do is on their own. Learners with low motivation may not complete modules.

4.Isolation
Another disadvantage of e-learning is that students may feel isolated and unsupported while learning. Instructions are not always available to help the learner so learners need to have discipline to work independently without assistance. eLearners may also become bored with no interaction.

In my opinion, for everything learning that without teacher or lecturer, the way of learning become more difficult, we have to rely on ourselves and put more effort. Moreover, we also need higher motivation than studying in college. It because when we studying in college,our lecturer and course mate may force and encourage to do assignment and study but as a e-learner we just can rely on ourselves . Other than that, we are studying at home through e-leaning so that is no social life, we can't make new friend and enjoy the process of reaching tasks together which is called ''team work". For e-learning,everything is individual assignment, the happiness of reaching task together, that is e-learner never understand and feel this kind of happiness.
