Sunday, 9th June, 1716. Banda's cage was again hoisted on top of an elephant, and he was dressed in mock attire of an emperor, with a colourful red pointed turban on his head. His 4 year old son Ajai Singh was placed in his lap. The twenty odd sardars marched behind the elephant and this special procession then passed through the streets of Delhi, and headed for the Kutub-ud-din mausoleum of Bahadur Shah, near the present Kutab Minar. On reaching that graveyard, the captives were again offered a choice of two alternatives: conversion to Islam or death. Needless to say all chose death. The Sikh sardars were subjected to tortures before being executed. Their heads were then impaled on spears and arranged in a circle round Banda who was now squatting on the ground. There were hundreds of spectators standing around watching this scene. Here they made him paraded around the tomb of late emperor Bahadur Shah and put him to a barbarous death.

"Banda Singh was then given a short sword and ordered to kill his own son Ajai Singh. As he sat unperturbed, the cxecutioner moved forward and plunged his sword into the little child cutting the hody into two. Then pieces of flesh were cut from the body and thrown in Banda's face. His liver was removed and thrust into Banda Singh's mouth. The father sat through all this without any signs of emotion. His powers of endurance were to be tested still further. But before that, Mohammed Amin Khan, who was standing near spoke as follows: "From your manner so far you appear to be a man of virtue, who believes in God, and in doing good deeds. You are also very intelligent. Can you tell me why you are having to suffer all this here ?"

"Banda's reply was, "When the tyrants oppress their subjects to the limit, then God sends men like me on this earth to mete out punishment to them. But being human, we sometimes overstep the laws of justice, and for that we are made to pay whilst we are still here. God is not being unjust to me in any way."

On 11 March 1783,when the Dal Khalsa under the leadership of S.Jassa Singh Ahluwalia and other Misl Sardars including S.Baghel Singh entered the Red Fort in Delhi and occupied the Diwan-i-Am and hoisted the Khalsa Flag (Nishan Sahib) at the Red Fort.

The Mughal emperor, Shah Alam II, made a settlement with them agreeing to allow Sardar Baghel Singh to raise gurdwaras on Sikh historical sites in the city and realize six annas in a rupee (37.5%) of all the octroi duties in the capital.

S.Baghel Singh stayed in Sabzi Mandi, with 4000 troops, and took charge of the police station in Chandni Chowk. He located seven sites connected with the lives of the Gurus and had shrines raised thereon within the space of eight months, from April to November 1783. Gurdwara Sis Ganj marked the spot in the main Mughal street of Chandni Chowk where Guru Teg Bahadur had been executed under the fiat of the emperor and Gurudwara Rakab Ganj Sahib near modern day Parliament House, where the body of Guru Teg Bahadur was cremated by the Lakhi Shah Vanjara, a disciple of the Guru, who burnt his house in order to cremate the Guru's body.

Gurudwara Bangla Sahib. And Bala Sahib commemorated the Eighth Guru, Guru Har Krishan Sahib.

Three other gurdwaras built were at Majnu Ka Tilla,Moti Bagh and Telivara.

Shaheed Udham Singh Ji

On 31 July 1940, Udham Singh was hanged in Pentonville Prison in London. Udham Singh was an Indian independence activist, best known for assassinating Michael O'Dwyer in March 1940 in what has been described as an avenging of the Jallianwalla Bagh Massacre.

In 1940, almost 21 years after the Amritsar Massacre of 1919 in Punjab province of India, Udham Singh shot the unsuspecting 76 years old Michael O'Dwyer while he was attending a lecture meet at Caxton Hall in London. O'Dwyer had been Governor of the Punjab in 1919, when Colonel Reginald Edward Harry Dyer ordered British troops to fire on unarmed Indian protesters, who included many Sikhs.

Udham Singh was also known as Ram Mohammed Singh Azad, symbolizing the unification of the three major religions of

India

: Hinduism, Islam and Sikhism.

300 Years of Conquering the Sirhand By the First Sikh King Sardar Banda Singh Bahadur

The battle was fought on May 12, 1710 By Sardar Banda Singh Bahadur who becomes the First Sikh Ruler of PUNJAB (India)

The Battle of Chhappar Chiri

The battle was fought on May 12, 1710 at Chhappar Chiri, twenty kilometres from Sirhind. On the Mughal side, Sher Muhammad Khan, the Nawab of Malerkotla was the leader of the right flank. Wazir Khan was in command of the centre. Suchanand, Diwan of the Nawab was put on the left. Suchanand instigated the death of Guru Gobind Singh's youngest two children. On the Sikhs' side, Baj Singh and Binod Singh (two of the five Sikhs sent by Guru Gobind along with Sardar Banda Singh Bahadur to the Punjab) headed the right and left flanks respectively while Banda Singh Bahadur commanded the centre facing Wazir Khan's army.

Suchanand could not withstand Baj Singh's attack and fled. Sher Mohammed Khan was about to overpower Binod Singh's wing when he was suddenly struck by a bullet and was instantly killed. His men immediately dispersed. Wazir Khan was rushing upon Banda who stuck fast to his ground and discharged arrows relentlessly. Baj Singh and Binod Singh now joined Banda. During their combined assault, Wazir Khan was killed.

Wazir Khan's death is variously described. According to the most accepted view Baj Singh rushed upon Wazir Khan, who threw a spear at the Sikh. Baj Singh caught hold of it and flung the same spear upon Wazir Khan. It struck the forehead of his horse. Wazir Khan discharged an arrow which hit Baj Singh's arm, before rushing upon him with his sword. At this juncture, Fateh Singh came to Baj Singh's rescue. It is related that he swung his sword with such force that Wazir Khan was sliced from shoulder to waist

Congratulations to Indian Hockey Team on winning their Opening Match with Pakistan on the First day of the current Hockey World Cup tournament being played at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium(formerly known as NATIONAL STADIUM) in New Delhi the Capital of India.

The third match of the tournament & the First for India-Pakistan started at 08:35PM(IST-GMT+5.30 Hrs).

It was a long awaited win for India which we won with the comfortable margin of FOUR Goals to ONE.

Sardar Sandeep Singh scored TWO Goals for India showing his brilliant technique of Hockey.The other two goals were scored by S.Shivender Singh & S.Prabhjot Singh.Sohail Abbas was the lone scorer from Pakistan.

Earlier in the day England won their First match against Australia.

Saka Sri Nankana Sahib

The cruel and cold-blooded massacre of the Sikh devotees at Nankana Sahib-the birth place of Guru Nanak Dev Ji,now situated in PAKISTAN, took place on February 21,1921 at the behest of wily and unscrupulous Mahant Narain Das who, unfortunately for the Sikhs, managed the affairs of the holy place at that time.

A group of more than two hundred Sikh devotees had gone to make obeisance as well as to liberate the holy shrine from the control of the Mahant by non-violent and peaceful means.

The Mahant caused this massacre through a few hired hoodlums. In his work, he also enjoyed the tacit support of the (British Ruled) Punjab government. Quite a large number of Sikhs were gunned down, many were slashed with axes and swords, while some were fastened to a land Tree nearby Janamasthan and burnt alive.

The event, because of its horribleness, is known as the bloodiest event of the twentieth century. On the following day, the government handed over the keys of the Gurdwara to Sardar Harbans Singh Attari, the then Vice President of S.G.P.C.

The supreme sacrifices made by these Sikhs Shaheeds have been acknowledged by the grateful nation. From that day onwards, the Sikh nation remembers these brave Sikhs in their daily ardas (prayer). Every year on 21 February at this Shaheedi Asthan,Guru Granth Sahib's Swaroop with Bullet marks is brought to Deewan (assembly) from 2pm to 4pm for darshan of the Sikh Sangat.

But I regret to say that your OUTER LOOK above the NECK is transmitting false signal to the world especially to the younger generation who is copying your outer look also. Instead of keeping long uncut-tied hair inside the TURBAN on their head they have shaved their BEARD, KESH etc. to some extend to look alike you.

As you have contributed towards popularizing the Punjabi Songs, Punjabi Pop/Folk songs etc.You can also contribute towards popularizing the message of the Sikhism, the message of our GURU to the world merely by your LOOK.

I appeal to you to make your look according to the Sikh norms i.e.

· Long uncut-tied hair & the TURBAN on your head.

On 24^th November 2009 is the 334^th Martyrdom Anniversary of GURU TEG BAHADUR JI who sacrificed his life for the protection of Hinduism in India at Chandni Chowk,Delhi

An extremely important event in Sikh history that had a profound impact on the future direction of Sikhism, the religion of the Sikhs,Guru Teg Bahadur undertook the supreme sacrifice for the protection of the most fundamental of human rights - the right of a person to freely practice his or her religion without interference or hindrance. In the modern day we tend to take this freedom for granted – but in 1675, millions of people were denied this basic right in India under the Mughal Rular Auranqzeb.

However, what is even more astonishing is the fact that the Guru was not protecting the right of the Sikhs to practise their religion but instead the rights of non-Sikh peace-loving people from Kashmir. These people from Kashmir were very respected Hindus who were being converted to Islam under the threat of death by the Muslim Emperor, Aurangzeb. In 1669, the Mughal ruler Aurangzeb departed from the policy of tolerance practised by his predecessors and unleashed instead a policy of religious persecution against non-Muslims. This caused large-scale demoralisation, fear and panic among the people.

The commitment by the Sikh Guru to protect and support the liberty of all the people of a country was unprecedented. This type of supreme sacrifice had never previously been recorded in human history. On May 25, 1675 in reply to an appeal of a large group of revered Kashmiri Pandits, Guru Tegh Bahadur made the momentous decision that has forever changed the level of moral commitment, dedication and sacrifice required by followers of God. The Guru made this critical decision to risk laying down his life if necessary to protect the right of the Hindus to follow their religion freely without interference or duress.

The Guru was put in chains and ordered to be tortured until he would accept Islam. When he could not be persuaded to abandon his faith to save himself from persecution, he was asked to perform some miracles to prove his divinity. On his refusal, Guru Tegh Bahadur was beheaded in public at Chandni Chowk on 11 November 1675. Guru Ji is also known as "Hind Di Chadar" ie to save Hinduism, Guru Ji gave his life

Fourth Mehl:

One who calls himself a Sikh of the True Guru,

shall rise in the early morning hours and meditate on the Lord`s Name.

Upon arising early in the morning, he is to bathe, and cleanse himself in the pool of nectar.

Following the Instructions of the Guru, he is to chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.

All sins, misdeeds and negativity shall be erased.

Then, at the rising of the sun, he is to sing Gurbani;

whether sitting down or standing up, he is to meditate on the Lord`s Name.

One who meditates on my Lord, Har, Har, with every breath and every morsel of food

- that Gursikh becomes pleasing to the Guru`s Mind.

Ishmeet Singh,winner of the "Amul Star Voice of India-2007" award (One of the Reality show of Indian TV) was a very soft spoken upcoming singer.

He did his schoolings from Guru Nanak Public School,Sarabha Nagar,Ludhiana (Punjab,India) & was doing his Bachelor's Degree study from MNC College Mumbai when the tragic incident of drowning in a swimming pool took his life on July 29,2008.

He was 19 & had gone to Maldives to participate in a stage show along with other "Amul Star Voice of India" contestants.

His aim was to complete C.A.Studies and singing was his passion.

He learn singing from Principal Sukhwant Singh of Gur Shabad Sangeet Academy,Jawaddi Taksaal Ludhiana Punjab India.

When Guru Sahib met Jahangir immediately after his release, he insisted upon Jahangir for the release of other fifty-two Hindu Princes on his personal surety (These Princes were said to be the rebellious ones).

The request was obliged and all the prisoners were released in 1612.

Then the title of "Bandi Chhor Baba" was given to Guru Hargobind Sahib and is still remembered by this name.

From Gwalior (where Guru ji was imprisoned) Guru Sahib reached Amritsar on the occasion of Dewali. This was a big occasion for the Sikhs. It is said that Baba Budha Ji littered the earthen lamps throughout the Amritsar city.

The Sikhs celebrated this occasion enthusiastically. From this day the Sikh Nation began to celebrate Dewali festival as " Bandi Chhor Diwas " also.

Now the attitude of Jahangir and his empire towards Guru Sahib changed considerably and remained favorable and friendly till his death.

On his 102nd birth Anniversary,I pay my tribute to Shaheed-E-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh ji.

He was born on Saturday,28th September 1907 and at the age when every Young Indian Boy prepared himself for his Marriage this young Sardar Bhagat Singh was trying to cut the roots of the British Empire from the Indian Soil.

He 100% succeeded in his Goal.

Sardar Bhagat Singh comes of a well known Sikh family from the district of Lyallpur. His ancestors were Khalsa Sardars who, under Maharaja Ranjit Singh, helped in the spread of the Sikh Kingdom against the turbulent Pathans on the west and the dangerous English on the east.

1) The Founder of Sikhism is Guru Nanak Sahib ji
2) Sikhism is a practical religion. It does not consist in a certain set of beliefs or mere words.Religion does not imply wandering to shrines and tombs, or following austerities of Yogis. Sikhism is a way of life, something to be lived according to a pattern. Its main virtue is simplicity. There is no supernaturalism or mythology on which it rests. It does not believe in devils or angels or heavenly spirits.
3) Sikhism is a universal religion.
4) Sikhism is opposed to all ritualism and formalism.
5) Sikhism does not enjoin blind faith. Blind obedience to an external authority is dis-couraged. The death of the intellect can not be a condition of the life of the spirit. Faith does not start with surmises or absurdities.
6) Sikhism is a faith of hope and cheer. Though it affirms Karma, it recognises the possibility of the modification of one's Karma with the grace of the Guru or God. It does not lead to despair and defeatism.
7) Sikhism is a democratic religion. The decisions of the Sangat are regarded as resolutions having the force of law (Gurmatta) Guru Gobind Singh Sahib vested the authority of the organisation in the Panth.
