Buffet Reveal It's Finally Here!

Welcome to the new year! Wow! can you believe it's 2019? I hope your holidays were the best ever, and you have a New Year planned for greatness!

For me, this holiday season has been easy and hard. Easy because I didn't decorate fully since our grandbabies were not with us. Yay! for less work. Normally there are a lot of decorations!

We had company since the first of Dec. and I wanted to spend quality time with them and that meant I had to put my schooling and business aside until our visit was at an end. We have been spoiled to have my mom and my sister visit us. Very thankful for getting the time to share with each other.

I am very thankful for my husband as well, especially on the holidays; he is one of God's greatest blessing to me. We all had fun and were able to share some intriguing conversations, played some games, had some laughs, and that of course was at the expense of each other. All in fun, all smiles, good times and great memories together.

My mom was here the longest. I will miss her sharing her conversations, opinions and her love day to day, but all things come to an end and I have to get back work if I am to accomplish anything.

The Buffet

This is how this beautiful piece looked
when I purchased it.
She was a worn and thirsty girl.
There was water and termite damage.
The wood was so dry that I was not sure
I could save it to it's original beauty.
I was going to love her no matter...

I sanded her completely down,
and at first I was thinking that if
I sanded the whole thing it would take all the
beautiful pinned strip painting off
and that would make me sad.
I didn't want to do that if I didn't have to.
I then wondered if it may be wood inlayed,
so I sanded it a little bit to see that it was!
and...YAY!
I did a happy dance!

Who ever made this buffet took some time to make it so elegant.
Isn't that beautiful work?
That's inlay folks!
I didn't do that, I just brought it back.

At this point I could compare
how the old looked against the new.
As I began to apply the clear wax coat,
it came to life again.
It took two coats of clear wax to cover
and shine when buffed.
This is only a clear wax, no color.
The wood grain is so gorgeous!

I wanted new knobs for the drawers and doors so
I made a set of "Birds Sing to Me", which
are some of my favorites, but I was
pulled between the originals and
my little birds
sooo...

Even the top has the most beautiful grain patterns.

After the initial clear waxing, and a buffing,
I used a dark wax to make it enhance the grain even more.

How To Paint The Staff

How Baby Jesus, Mary and Joseph

look painted...

Here is part two.

Joseph is just a great piece.

He is handsome and the way he is standing is very nice.

This set is a happy find for me.

I Love how the three look.

Here are the paints I used for the staff:

*Delta Ceramcoat- Dark Burnt Umber

*Ceramcoat- Raw Sienna

*Patio Pain Outdoor- Woodland Brown

You can use any brand for these colors.

Painting the Staff

Using Raw Sienna and a little water,

paint the whole staff

with this color.

Next, using the Woodland Brown,

and holding the

brush more on it's side,

just hit the raised

places on the staff,

making sure not to cover too

much of the first color.

Lastly, using the Dk. Burnt Umber

paint in places here and

there, making sure not to cover

the first two colors too

much.

Be sure to paint any colors left on the staff

or any other parts, to make sure they match

in every area. If there is a large area you have to patch.

or a large area with different spots, you will probably

want to paint the whole area a new color.

This shows where I used the first color

with no water and then lower, down with

a little water. The water will make it more

transparent.

Second color applied. You can see that

there is quite a bit of paint, but it is on the

raised areas, and not competing with the

first color. Same as below, the last,

darkest color is on the very highest, raised

places and doesn't cover the first 2 colors

much at all.

Don't forget the top of his staff.

Paint other pices the same colors and

work with them as if they were also

in need of repair, so that they will

match in the end.

I wanted Mary a bit more subtile on her clothes

and head cover, so I used a lighter blue and a medium blue.

When I patched the few chips she had, I had a bit of

trouble with the color or her clothing, so I matched

the whole area to the same color.

I like the new colors.

Baby Jesus was a little bit of a problem when

getting rid of the dark spots. After applying

some of the putty with a paint brush, and letting

it dry, I re-painted his whole body.

Once again he needed to be

one uniform color to look right. I added some

flesh tones to make him look real.

He looks way better, don't you think?

Nativity Set Repair

Is your nativity set in dire need of repair? Does baby Jesus, Mary and Joseph all need a bit of TLC?

We have the tutorial here, right now for you, on how you can fix chips and broken pieces.

Baby Jesus is a little spotted and stained.

Here Joseph's staff is gone, and needs to

be replaced.

Here, more damage to his foot, and on

part of his clothing.

Items needed for your repair.

Durham’s water putty

Wood glue

Dowel (measured length)

Drill and Bit size of

Toothpicks

Bowl to mix

Plastic ware for mixing

Small putty knife

Pencil

Pliers

Awl

Water

Paint Brush

Paper towels

Chances are you may have something different than the picture

shown, but this will work on any type of resin or plaster type

statue used for display at Christmas.

To begin you will need to have your area set up with

all the supplies listed.

To replace a long piece such as the staff, you will

need to give it something to hold on to. I began by

drilling into the hand where the staff originally

was. Then taking the toothpick, I glued the end and

inserted it into the drilled hole. You will need

to let it dry completely.

Using the awl, push or tap, (with a hammer) a hole into the bottom of the

dowel, deep enough for the toothpick to fit into. (Do not glue yet.)

Next lay the dowel into the position it was originally,

or where you would like it, and mark it with a pencil,

where you want the cut off to be. It needs to fit nicely

without too much extra length. This is where the staff

or piece will be for the final placement.

Notice in the next picture, how the toothpick is at the same

angle as the dowel? This will help you as you place your

dowel at the right angle. This way the toothpick won't be

stressed and break.

Mark where your cut will be.

Next, cut the toothpick off at about one inch down from the glued area.

Cut your dowel at the mark, using the pliers.

Pinch around all sides.

It will snap in two.

At this point, when gluing the dowel to the hand

and toothpick, you want to make sure that it is in the exact

position to begin to use the Water Putty on.

Apply a dab of glue on the end of the toothpick

and insert it into the dowel and let dry in place.

Following the directions on the Durham's Water Putty,

make a small batch, as it goes a long way.

Using your putty knife, apply the putty to

the top of the staff, working your way down

to the bottom, as shown in the following

pictures. You will build the layers as you go

so they will be the thickness you need.

As you apply additional layers of putty,

it will cause the stick to look more like a

branch than a dowel.

Add more putty in areas to enhance the

branch look.

Clean up any of the putty that gets onto

places you don't want it to be.

I placed the staff on the inside of the

sandle for added support. I'm not sure, but I think,

it was on the outside where the break is on the foot.

(I purchased this recently)

I began building up the staff and foot

so that is will be bonded nicely.

Let this dry completely before moving it around.

Joseph's sandle and toes needed to be fixed as well.

Use the same putty mixture for the rest of the cracks

and chips on the items needing fixed. You can use

the paint brush too, as it makes it easier to smooth out

these areas.

When the putty begins to set, you can use the putty knife

to form it as you need to.

Fill in chips and then

gently wipe them smooth with the paintbruch

or a wet papertowel.

Baby Jesus was very pitted and stained so I used the putty

and the paint brush to smooth over his skin areas. This

did not cover very well so he will be painted again.

The manger only has a small chip so it will be painted too.

Within Home Decor

I'm Finally Back... Yay!

It's been too long. How is everyone?

I am sure you are gearing up for the Christmas holiday.

I have to say this year is a lot different for me.

My husband and I have had one of our sons and

his family live with us for awhile and this year they

have moved into their own place.

This has made room for our lives together to

begin again with just us, and

our guard dog...

can you say Scooby Doo.

and his side kick...

It is amazing, as there will be

No more little eyes so bright and expectant.

No more little people running through the house to

get the first hot cookies.

We will miss their precious faces

Christmas day but,

we are happy for them more.

In this day and age it seems our kids

need more help then we did,

and we are happy to do that for them.

Decorating at my home will begin soon and I will be sharing!

Wow! It's been awhile since I have written.

I love bunnies and all the lovlies that go with the decorations,

Jesus gave up so much to ignore His sacrifice for us.

Baby Mum Mums and Your Babies Christmas Advent

Being a Grandma is such a special job.

You are always looking for the best

for your babies Christmas or just always.

When my 2 year old sweet baby love was

1 year old, I wanted him to be part of our traditions

at Christmas time and be able to open

some of the little gifts that we do in our

Advent calendars, but he was too young.

He couldn't eat candies or have

small toys but he did

love Baby Mum-Mums.

I had purchased a couple of boxes for

him to stuff his stocking with when

I thought up the following idea. It was

a great way for him to join

in at least one of our traditions.

He LOVED it!

Wasn't too sure what scissors

were and cutting, but in time he will.

This was easy to make

and fun for him

to unwrap and eat.

Here is what you will

need to make one for your

little Bug.

Supplies:

*10 Baby Mum-Mums

*Wrapping paper (about 4ft.)

*Coordination ribbon

*Cute Card or Decoration to put

at the top.

Keep Mum-Mums in their wrappers

Cut a 4 ft. piece of wrapping paper into

two pieces.

Cutting LONGWAYS in half.

Cut 12 pieces of ribbon

about 9 inches long each.

With the right side facing down,

fold the long sides in 1/3

of the way as shown.

Do this on both papers.

Tuck a Baby Mum-Mum inside. With a

piece of ribbon tie a knot at the

bottom of the paper , leaving

about 2 inches. Tie another knot

at the top of the Mum-Mum.

Continue until you have 5 on each

piece of paper. Leaving enough

room to cut at the top of each

Mum-Mum

When both sides are complete you can

tie the tops together with more ribbon.

Fasten a name tag or other decoration

to the top of the papers that come together.

Hang your Baby Advent somewhere

that they can cut a Mum-Mum each

day when you are doing other

advent calendars.

(Note): You can make it for

12 days of Christmas by adding

more Mum-Mums. Be sure to calculate

your paper for the extra Mum-Mums.

You could add small baby toys if you like.

I also used extra string to tie a small

pair of scissors onto the top so I

would have them to cut each day.

Have FUN!

Hope your (grand)babies love them as

much as mine did.

Oh Such A Cutie!

Today I want to share the latest piece I have finished for Auntie Em's. I love how this turned out and love the

Sweet Pickins paint line I used on it.

****First Steps****

I used Flour Sack as

the base color for the whole piece and for the

two colors, of the green and blue.

This is two pieces that come apart so

I started with the top piece and sanded it so it

had a bit of a tooth for the paint to grab.

I painted the whole piece in the Flour Sack

and added some Extra Bond,

also from SP paints, just to

make sure it would adhere to the piece.

After the paint dried I sanded it

smooth.

****Painting The Top Piece****

Next I used some Vaseline in areas

so that the paint would come off in

specific spots.

Worked great!

It sanded right off

when the paint dried,

and I began sanding again.

You can see in the photo above

the areas that are

still white is where I used the Vaseline to

get it to chip away.

****Mixing The Green Color****

I began by mixing Flour Sack and Sweety Jane,

3 parts Flour Sack and 1 part Sweety Jane.

It was a bit too dark and I wanted it to

be even lighter so I added more

of the Flour Sack until I got the shade I wanted.

Sorry bit I didn't measure, but easy enough.

****Mixing The Blue Color***

The Blue was a mix of Flour Sack, and

then I mixed Colbalt and Ole Blue in

randomly until I reached the color

I wanted, which was something of

a light, light blue.

Sorry, again I didn't measure.

(I cook the same way!)

I painted and sanded.

****The Drawers****

Since there are 2 drawers

I needed some knobs, but they had to

go with the theme of the piece.

I didn't have one yet...

I had been wanting to use these

beautiful napkins

I had ordered for a

unknown future piece and

so decided this would be the one.

Since knobs is my business I began

running through all the designs I offer

and was so pleased to get to use

these NEW little birdies.

They are so adorable

and like I said, they are NEW!

Whoot!!!

I get to use them too!!!

As you can see the napkin and the

"Birds to Sing to Me"

are a perfect match.

****The Wrap Up****

I layed the napkins out the way I wanted

them and then used a clear glue to glue them

down. When they were dry I lightly sanded them.

After a good dusting I used SP Oil Wax to

go over the whole piece.

You don't have to buff it out but I did a bit.

She is fini!

Milk Painted Pistachio and Butter Dresser

Just finished this adorable little dresser for a customer. I love how it turned out. I used Sweet Pickins Milk Paint and created a new accent color using 3 of the colors in that same line, the Pistachio. Today I have another project to share with you. I finished this a couple of weeks ago and it is now in Auntie Em's store in Tehachapi.

When I found this piece for sale and didn't get to see it until it was delivered to me at my home. It had some great bones but was a little beat up and I had no ideas what I was going to start off doing. I did my research and dug up some great designs that had been done to other pieces. When I found my inspiration piece I began to incorporate it into my beat up little sewing machine case. This case didn't come with a machine so someone would have to need it for the machine it was intended for or I would have to re-purpose it, so

I re-purposed it,

BUT if you have the machine that

will fit in there, it is still useable.

This is the way it looked after I sanded it down to

get ready to be painted.

Like the way the little squares

are on the legs? No purpose for them

except to screw the wheels on.

Pretty rough.

I decided to paint the main parts black and black stripes.

I used Sweet Pickins "Butter" on the light

areas and then I used

Behr's black satin enamel paint for the

dark areas.

I have the

"Door Pulls Gentlemen of Distinction 4pc Set"

that I just LOVE but nothing matched

them so far, so I decided I would make

this piece masculine, sort of and use them. I mean

how masculine can a sewing cabinet, really be?

I collect vintage scripts for just this reason.

The one that is on the lid is from the

Graphic Fairy's collection.

She has such great picks.

I am not sure where I picked this one

on the front from.

All of the designs were printed

and then I used alcohol and the

pics in reverse to apply to the painted surfaces.

I used dark wax over the whole piece

to give it a soft, and old look to

match the feel of the knobs.

I was having a hard time trying to figure out

what a guy would do with this piece...until I thought

of it being...

A Beverage Cart....

Perfect for a guy, or ladies to entertain with.

I loved how the colors went over the left over

sanded parts that had the finish still on it a bit and how the

black didn't cover all the way, but let some of the original, beautiful

stained finish through.

It was manly! and yet I am still in love

with it.

Here is the beautiful finished piece

in all it's new purpose...

No ice, I know but use your imagination...

I think it is a conversation piece, don't you?

No more wheels either.

A New Year Ahead...the Jewelry Box part 2

Well here we are again in the new year. So far things are humming right along. It took me a little bit longer then expected to complete this piece, but it did turn out really nice. I am happy with the results. So...here is part 2 for you.

The colors I used are from Sweet Pickins

in Butter and Moody Blue.

I love how the top lid and the whole piece

has a nice chippy look.

The drawers were appliqued with papers

I purchased awhile ago from

the Graphic 45 line.

All the pages match in color and design and

are easy to use.

I forgot to take pics of the lid in the open position and the lighting isn't what it was yesterday, as we have a rainy day today and not the best lighting.

I printed out the Charity and Faith,

traced and hand painted them

on the side doors in the Moody Blue.

I then distressed them.

The doors were painted Moody Blue on the

insides and the trim on the whole piece.

I am really pleased with how this

piece turned out.

It is now in Auntie Em's

for sale.

What a great jewelry box.

One of a kind.

A New Year Ahead...A Happy One!

Happy New Year!

I hope you are blessed and happy. I am so thankful for such a loving God and family.

This holiday was rallllly busy for me. I had many things that needed to be completed and not only that but get ready for the holidays decorating and fixing dinners for friends and family. I had a wonderful visit with my sister and her son, whom I haven't spent time with for awhile. All of our family that are close by had time together the day after Christmas to share a yummy dinner from another one of my sisters and her husband. Thank you Dani and Steve it was scrumptously good.

Thank you to my family and friends for sharing the holidays with us as well.

So glad to be able to share God's blessings with the ones we love.

We love you all.

Now that all the festivities are over I now am concentrating on the new year ahead.

I am working on getting my door pulls ready for wholesale. I am still working on the details but hope to have it all together asap.

I also have quite a few pieces of furniture to re-do,

and I am excited to get to work on all of it.

Today I am working on a

jewelry box that is super nice

and it is looking great so far.

We have freezing temps here so

I am working in my art room to

get my work done.

I am glad I can.

I have taken the whole thing apart to make the

painting easier and totally

painted, even where you don't see.

I have made new knobs ( of course) for

the front where the old lion pulls were.

It is themed in tulle and stripes. I chose

Sweet Pickins Butter on most of the

box and will be using Moody Blue for the accent color.

I am wanting to finish this by this weekend. Fingers crossed.

Roll Top Desk and A Vintage Letter

Recently I finished this plain

roll top desk in Shabby Chic.

It turned out beautiful.

I wanted to add the before

picture but I cannot find it.

It was just a plain oak desk,

nothing specially painted.

I love the letter on the front and top.

It was a bit of a task but all worth it.

It is available in my shop at

Auntie Em's, take a look.

I used my knew knobs "Letters" from the "Books Series",

with a white base and white letters.

It turned out so sweet.

Continuing the 3 Piece Set with Chalk Paint

Today I am continuing on with the 3 pc. set that I started sharing with you earlier. But before I start I would like to share some of what has been going on at Kimberly Madson Art & Design.
I have opened a new shop in Auntie Em's here in Tehachapi. It is an Antique, shabby chic sort of shop. Great owners and the store itself is one of the best in this little town. Here is a link to their Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/AuntieEmsAntiques

I had been working on getting everything in the shop set up and then after it was complete I was offered a larger space and decided to take it. I have moved into the larger space and I have been working on getting it set up properly. In the mean time I have found some pieces here and there that I wanted to re-purpose and also use the chalk paint on. I have used Anne Slone's paint and I have made my own. Annie's is a bit thicker but mine works just great for me as well and it is a lot easier on my pocket book.

Here is the recipe I used:

CHALK PAINT
1 cup paint
2 1/2 Tbl. Plaster of Paris
2 Tbl cold water

Mix the plaster into the water until there are no lumps and it is smooth. Let it thicken a bit. You don't want it watery. The thicker you let this set the thicker your paint will be. Just don't wait too long or you may have a plaster brick.
Mix with paint and stir until smooth.
You are now ready to paint.

For 1 Quart:
4 cups paint
10 Tbl. Plaster of Paris
8 Tbl. cold water
Follow directions as stated above.

You can use the waxes on this paint as well.

An Old Piece

I began with the little case that I shared last time and then I found this Martha Washington Sewing Cabinet at Auntie Em"s, bought it and then painted it to go with the first case.

It was pretty bunged up with scratches.

It had these delicate little flowers

on the front of the drawers and the top

that I really hated to paint over

but they were not in good shape either.

Such a cute piece.

I removed the drawers and the knobs.

I made new knobs to match the design I was

going to use.

(That is a great opportunity for me

to get to making knobs :)

Painting begins...

I needed a creamy white to start with so

I headed down to Home Depot to

see what I could find. I chose Honeysuckle

White and then made it into

chalk paint. I painted the whole top of the case

with white except the inside of the drawers and the

rounded sides.

I used Annie Slones Coco on the drawer fronts and the legs.

Next I added vintage looking post cards

on each drawer front. I found them on

www.digitalcollagesheets.com.

At this time they have been sold and

are in transition to the new owner.

I love them.

I then took it outside and distressed it by
sanding it down to look worn out.

Funny how the other worn out wasn't good enough. Huh!

Finally sanded and ready for the most fun part.

Placing the Designs on...

I decided to use this print,

which I found on Graphic Fairy.

It reminds me of my Grandmother

who is now passed and I miss so very much.

I began by mod podging it on each side.

I think it is lovely. So vintage.

(The top photo has the wax already applied)

the one on bottom is with no wax)

I had a bit of trouble when I wanted

to tie things together since I was using

old vintage post cards. So I search

through my treasure of saved files

and thought these butterflies

would be a good match.

Not my original intent but

I liked how they looked so they

were the next things I added.

They were only applied to

the top along with more post cards.

I am not sure where I got these particular ones

but Etsy has many to chose from.

This is the top without the waxing.

After Waxing...

I used Annie Slone's clear wax

first and then used the

dark wax to age it.

I then added the knobs.

These will be available

soon in my Etsy shop.

It is painted the same white and

then waxed and

custom made knobs were applied.

My first time

My first time using Anne Slone paints.

I have to say I have been a painter for many years and was getting the same results with acrylics, washes and sealers at much less cost, but I do love the colors and waxes she offers.

Here is the tutorial for the small cabinet

I re-finished with Anne Slone paints and waxes.

The colors I choose for this piece was Coco and Old White with both clear and dark waxes.

LETS BEGIN

This little case had seen better days when I spotted it at

a local thrift store. After much thought I

choose my paints and emblem and began working.

I took everything I could apart to begin with.

I removed all the shelves so I could

get to the ugly green felt backing and take it out.

I then removed the glass so I could paint

without getting the paint in places I didn't want

it to be.

I discovered the metal piece in the center was removable

and replaced it with the one shown below.

This was attached once the whole thing

was completely painted and waxed.

I used E-6000 to attach it. E-6000

works great and doesn't come apart easily

once it is dry.

After removing the green felt I glued some of my

favorite scrap paper to the back side.

I painted the shelves and the door

along with the side panels and top.

PAINTING and WAXES

Painting is easy enough. Nothing new when

you use the paints. Just use your favorite

color, paint and let dry. You may want 2 coats.

I then waxed all the pieces before re-assembling.

When you want to use the dark wax there

is a process you might want to take.

In order for the dark wax to be easier to work

with you will need to apply the clear first.

By putting the clear on first you

seal the pores in the wood so that the dark wax

doesn't hold as well and it can be moved

around or wiped off without too much work.

If you apply the dark first it will be much

harder to remove, darker and permanent.

After I re-assembled the whole thing

and put a new pull on the door and

I fell in love with this once ugly

piece.

It turned out quite nice.

Anne Slone paints were smooth and easy to use as well

as the wax. Love the colors! They are beautiful!

The buffing is a little bit labourous but the

results are worth it.

There are 2 more projects that I will be sharing

soon that go with this one. They make a

3 piece set that have turned out to be

some of my favorites.

Almost a year...

Hello Everyone,

It has been almost a year since I have posted on here.

A lot has changed in my life since then, and some have remained the same.

It feels like recently but it is actually about 6 months now

My family and I moved to our new home in Tehachapi , CA.

We love it here and have been settling in,

which has taken every bit of the 6 months.

I have many things I have worked on and tutorials I want to share with you.

I have new Door Knob designs to share as well.

I will be posting items here that I have worked on this year

and the tutorials I have made for you to see and use.

My Etsy shops have been going strong without to much disruption

along with my Pinterest and Facebook sites.

These are still available any time and are

featured on the sides of my blog here.

Today I would like to share the following

tutorial.

DECORATIVE PENCILS

Decorative pencils that I made to help organize my new art room.

They go together with the Ikea BYGEL Rail found here: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/50072645/

They come in two lengths of which I choose the smaller size.

If you need the larger you would need to use one dowel for each rack.

They are made with the following supplies:

*1/4 inch dowel 36 inches long, cut into 2-20 in pieces.

(You will need one for each rack you install and

you will have some left over)

*1 dowel for each rack if using the longest size.

*Acrylic paint colors of your choice

*Black acrylic paint (for lead)

* Eraser colored acrylic paint if you

choose to have an eraser end.

*wire cutters

*straight knife or belt sander

(Have not tried it but a pencil sharpener might work)

*A glue gun and glue sticks.

To begin:

Before you begin you need to decide if you want your faux pencils

to have and eraser end or just two sharpened ends. I choose two sharpened ends for mine.

Measure and cut your dowels. Using your wire cutters, pinch at the 20 in. mark on one side and then turn the dowel and pinch at the same place again. The dowel should snap and break at the marked point. If you are making one end the eraser end then you will sand one of the ends to look like that of a pencil's eraser.

Next you want to make the sharp end. I used a grinding wheel for mine, since that is all I had. I have suggested a belt sander since this is easier. You can use a straight knife if you don't have access to the other two. Just wittle the tips out.

Place a small amount of the black paint onto your pallet

and dip JUST THE TIP of your point into the paint.

Don't go up too far on the tip. You should now have your faux lead.

Since I did not paint an eraser on my ends I don't have pics for that but I at this point you want to place an eraser color of paint on the pallet and dip the flat end into that. I would then take a silver

pen and draw some lines around the top of the eraser part to look like the metal on a pencil.

After all the tips and (ends if you chose them) are completed begin to apply the colors you have selected for the pencil colors themselves. I chose my favorite colors with some browns and a silver and gold for mine.

You may seal each pencil but it isn't necessary.

After mounting the Ikea rods to my wall I then added the faux pencils under each one so that the paints would not fall through. I used a glue gun but have to say I have had to re-glue a couple of them because they do not stay attached very well.

For me I really don't mind

because if I decide to move them I won't have too much

to repair on my wall to do from the pencils,

just the holes from the rods. Easy enough.

You can drill holes into the dowels at both ends and

then nail them to the wall if you prefer.

I installed this behind my door for easy access.

That is it. Load your 2 oz. paints into the rods and be organized.

It feels great!

Note:

I found the tutorial for the racks online in a blog, and I have spent most of the day trying to re-find it to no avail. I don't think the pencils where included in that tutorial but If you

Getting Attacked...It's fun this way!

Got you attention huh? Well it's true. When I opened my first Etsy shop I was attacked. By who you may be asking. Here is the best attack that anyone could have happen to them. If you have never heard of The Handmade Movement: Home of The Sneak Attack then you may want to read on as the answer lies just ahead.

The Sweet ladies of The Handmade Movement did a sneak attack on my shop when it was just starting. I was Sneak Attacked on December 17, 2008. What they do is find unsuspecting newbies and set a time for the attack. They notify their followers and then they all shop the newbies site, buying things the site has to offer. BAM! You have been sneak attacked by a number of orders and now are fully on your way to do great things. It is quite a confident booster and after the dust settles you have a great group of friends.
I received a email from Amanda asking me to reflect on the experience so she could include it in the Handmade Movement blog. I wanted to share it with you all. She did a great job with the article and again I am very thankful for their kindness.
