Things seemed normal until a friend of mine pinged me on Google talk. A movie was discussed, agreed upon and joy knew no bounds. Voila! I was going to see Rockstar. Finally the movie for which plans were drafted, almost executed but never implemented was going to happen. I had read numerous reviews of the movie but someone with the calibre of directing JAB WE MET couldn’t go wrong could he?

Reached mall by when movie had still more than 2 hours left. My friend and I embarked into Costa Coffee. Genius a chap would have been to name it so. Coffee left us with a hole of 500 bucks but we moved on, multiplex was good as expected and kudos to Cinepolis for coming up with such kind of leg space. Bingo! Rockstar was about to unravel! I will not go into the details because frankly speaking I only remember so much though being fresh out of the movie.

First half was a stroke of genius to say the least. How witty an adjective is “Palang Tod” to describe a girl especially newly introduced Nargis Fakhri? Just enough humour, suspense, romance and calming effect to leave the audience gaping at the end of it. I should have held onto my horses but I already had concluded in my mind that this movie is worth every nickel spent so far. Little did I know that what’s going to unfold as second half was going to be atrocious.

As happens in most of the bollywood flicks Ranbir Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri ramify. They go their own way and the movie also starts to ramble in its own vague way. Ladies and gentlemen frankly speaking I always heard of songs befitting into a movie but this flick is about movie wedged in between a series of songs. Song after song so on and so forth and a series of events sandwiched in between. Ranbir is arrested in Prague then in India, then again in Prague and I am not too sure as to where this recursion ended. You might also find an endorsement of a B-Grade movie named “Junglee Jawaani” sporadically. I swear on god, I thought of lighting up the whole multiplex and fleeing through the Emergency exits half way into the second half. The florescent lights that highlight its(emergency exit’s) presence were so appealing BUT I sat through the torture. I had lost the whole plot but the songs continued which reminds me that I have made a mental note of never again wearing a T-Shirt which has strings dangling through the collars, they could turn suicidal. To sum up the second half:

i. Nargis Fakhri has leukaemia and she undergoes bone marrow surgery.
ii. Ranbir is psychedelic and continues on his spree of bashing the reporters, getting caught by cops and similar irrational stuff.
iii. Songs and more of it.

The good thing was, by now movie was approaching the end. I had a small ray of hope that there would be a meaningful end but that was crushed brutally. Movie concluded without any conclusion. Just like that names started scrolling from the bottom of the wide screen and people started moving. I was staring helplessly at the crowd that someone would protest and demand a better ending but looked like everyone had surrendered.

Such was the end to an otherwise brightly started Sunday morning. Office beckons and I feel relaxed after sharing my thoughts. Some of you might disagree with my take on the movie but I would like to clarify these are purely my views. I am a cog in this democrapic wheel and I have every right to have my opinion. If you agree well and good, if you don’t we can sort out the matter in comments.

Wishing you all a very happy week ahead and to me, well a better spent forth coming weekend would do.

Rahul.

If only wishes were horses :(

I know I have been dead in the real essence of it. It wasn't intentional but whatever I thought is interesting enough to be going in here be it the match between Brazil and Netherlands when we 4 were supporting Ned and they won, be it the trip to Kerala for my dear colleague Richin's marriage and all the expertise that we had ;) or be it the recent trip to Kudremukh with my team, everything by the time got cooked up enough there was no hunger left. Anyhow some wise men like Murphy are there to prove things wrong and he again fits in aptly. Who would have imagined that a twitter addict like me who inhales tweets instead of oxygen would delete the account :O. I never did so did all the people in the vicinity but chemistry and nature are the ones who always stabbed me at the back.. "Ouch Reality Hurts" but yeah it gave me a topic to write about.

This blog is totally intended for two kinds of persons.
1. Who know me as twahul
2. Who don't know me as twahul

People belonging to the first category please read ahead. People belonging to the second category I am sorry but you can still read ahead and try making sense out of it.

Hmm! so people all of you out there who know me better as "twahul" than the name which was inscribed by my dearest parents, twitter is just a social networking site and there shouldn't be any catastrophic reactions to a person deleting twitter account. Hey Bhagwaan the number of calls and comments that I got is still a number to be defeated. Hope this 15th would be the day or else I better be doomed. BTW people who have forced an answer out of me don't believe any of those :). All that is the purest form of what people call "bull shit". The real reason is too close to my heart to be shared. So PLEASE STOP ASKING AS TO WHY I QUIT TWITTER.

Secondly I don't know why I am so mind effed these days. Everything seems to be in place in fact I am doing better than ever but still somewhere inside it hurts. Whatever it is, it hurts. May be its illogical, may be its insane, may be its a feeling that would sink but still while its there its making my life hell. Hope none of you reading this most ambiguous piece of mine would be in such a nasty state :). I blame it all to the vicious wishes of mine. Some one truly said "If only wishes were horses, beggars would ride".

Leave the last stanza to me and yeah finally I am back to blogging. Hope this would improve my indiblogger rankings :P.

Mumbai The So Called Mayanagri Of India

This would be my most unprepared and adhocly prepared blogpost ever. The reasons will be apparent to you very shortly.
Well I love the city about which i am gonna talk about, to the core. I cant accept any kinda disrespect given to it and here comes my First reason for writing this blogpost.
I am writing this blogpost from the Chatrapathi Shivaji Domestic Airport of Bombay standing right in front of the internet kiosks at the airport. Funny but true the experience is both unexpected and funny.
There are three of these cylindrical machines in front of me, with the Airtel logo smiling at the people approaching it and Complimentary Internet Service board hanging above. Like most of the passengers who are victims of delayed flights I thought this would be a nice place to see some time pass by.
So here comes my second reason for this post, I am travelling by the Indigo Airlines to Bangalore and the flight is delayed by 20 mins.
OK back to the internet kiosks. The two of these complimentary machines are making mockery of every single passenger who think they are lucky enough to find vacant kiosks in 2009. I was one among them and thought its time I gave something back to these insensitive but sadistic devices. The 3rd one seems to be fine and is helping me do this, But this poor guy doesnt seems to be far away from breaking down. The keys are like cement which has been watered properly, you wont believe but I am using my thumbs to type. Feels so trapped but a better choice instead of hitting backstroke before I even start the word.
Well I came to the economic capital of India and am thinking whether It would be the same at the Imternational Airport too? I dont know the reality but my conscience says that It would be working fine, any of you guys reading this please tell me whether I am correct?
The intention of this blogpost was pretty much clear I guess, but the answer I am seeking is more significant. Why does it happens that In Our country and more significatly a democratic one we are often neglected? We pay our taxes, we obey the rules, we care for the country, we respect it but still more often than not we find people with money and rarely patriotic get all the attention.
All said and done I Love the Mayanagri and as a sign of protest for the disrespect shown to it I wrote this blogpost. Even in worse states it will end up doing some good to you. See it somehow made me see off 30 mins and Now I head for my boarding. B Bye!!!

THE FOUNTAINHEAD!!!

I know the book I am going to write about would have been in the favourite list of many of you guys. Well i dont disagree with you at all. This is one of the best novel by far i have ever read. Owing to the fact that the book is the brain child of the legendry writer Ayn Rand, me judging the book would not make any sense but even for one who has no zeal for novels and doesnt knows who Ayn Rand is, the book would still be a memorable crusade.

Its about the life of an architect howard roark, who loves his drawings to an extent that he will reject clients but will never compromise with his designs. Its about the hardships he faces, his love life and finally how this typical character of his makes him the fountainhead.

I wish or any reader would, that i could defy "Human Nature" and be like Mr. Howard Roark the character around which this hefty some 640 pages long novel revolves around. Taken into consideration the fact that its a fiction, still there may be possibility of a person like him existing, or may be Ayn Rand thought of someone she personally knew while writing this, wherever this character came from, he is pretty close to impossible but ideal. Extremism of self respect and egosim would be an apt punch line for this novel.

One hears all the good words (should have been said by someone really great)

that one should focus on doing the job which one likes rather than trying to like the job one is in but how many really succeed in this? Now dont pounce upon me giving examples, In a larger sample space the probability of what I stated would be much higher. You know a mundane man adjusts and no denying the statement "Life itself is an adjustment".

It being a novel, the hero has to succeed in the end and this novel is no exception, but how many such howard roarks end up being successfull in real life? Well thing to ponder upon may be.

One more character whom I really liked was of Gail Wynand. He has been depicted as a business tycoon, one who almost rules the place, only strange thing to me was when a guy got such a dynamic introduction he should have been ended in a more positive way but unfortunately he ends up being a humble and kinda gloomy character, giving the entire limelight to be gobbled by Mr. Roark.

Last but not the least Dominique, she is the heroine of the novel and hence is `depicted as as beautiful as it can get, she takes the center stage at few instances but one wont remember her much after completing the novel, Roark would be the one who eventually will be the only character blueprinted wide across the mind.

To keep the long thing short awesome novel, roark rocks and if you want to read something really nice and peppy, go get one copy of "THE FOUNTAINHEAD" for yourself...

Cheers!!!!

Can they do it without Ronaldo??

I want them to but not sure how much my optimism weighs. Can manchester United do what they have done for the past 3 years without "Cristiano Ronaldo" and defend the EPL trophy? Frankly speaking if community shield match yesterday was any indication I dont think United are the favourites.

Albeit the first half was a crackerjack, second half was disappointing and penalty shoot outs just added to the misery. I thought Evra and Nani combined brilliantly in the left flank but just when i started believing that nothing has changed with United, came the shocker. Injury to Nani, foul commited on Evra and a tragical second half.

It had to be Rooney to save United and he lived upto the expectations. What a saver it was. A brilliant goal though he was offside but i guess the foul on evra and the goal against united during that evens it out. As the match progressed my belief that Rooney has "matured a lot" just got stronger. A match leveler in the dieing minutes of the game said it all. Making the final scoreline 2-2. Dont want to discuss the penalties that followed but for the interest of those who missed it. United lost 4-1. It was a hopeless display as far as the penalties were concerned.

I dont know whether rub of green was going Chelsea's way or they played superior soccer but if this is any indication of things to come can united end this season on a winning note is my question. Was ronaldo such a huge factor or is it only my belief? Well, only time will answer that. In the meanwhile all I hope for is that Michael Owen the new prestige owner of the famous No. 7 jersey of United comes good, Van Der Sar and Nani hopefully recover from their injury soon, Rooney continues the way he is playing and last but not the least "Manchester United win the Premier League again".

Recession- Time to get united.

Recession- seems to be the only word hovering over the minds of profssionals now a days. I Dont deny the fact that i was also bogged down by the R phenomena of late but now have kinda left it behind me.

With all sympathies to all those who have been affected by it all i can say is the world is not worse around us. There are many positives to derive out of these turbulent times. Being united is one of the first and foremost. Dont be shy to share the impact of recession with your family members. Its not a good time to make them your enemies when you need them the most. Being loyal to yourself and the people who care about you is common sense isn't it.

Plan out cost saving measures and derive fun out of it as i have already started. Can we replace our cars/bikes with bicycles or our corporate/local city buses? Is it a good time to start investing? Will there be any more instances in the future when the stock market will hit such a low? If not why am I not taking advantage of it already? and last but not the least what is that i am doing to change the things around me? are some of the questions which should be flodding our minds than cribbing about the current system.

True that the things will not change overnight but nothing is permanent in this world is also a fact. Atleast when the things turn pleasant we should have soemthing to hatch upon. "Don't wait for extraordinary opportunity . Seize common occassionals and make them great. Weak men wait for opportunities; strong men make them."

Bring your outlook calender onto your desktop!!!

The other day I had an important meeting at 4'o Clock and thanks to my awesome mind I completely forgot about that. Only before 15 minutes of the meeting did i get the reminder that I have got myself screwed and should be ready for the presentation in another 10 mins. It freaked me out completely but was able to complete the task on time somehow. Well that was a lucky day for me but one doesnt turns out to be lucky everyday. Does he?

As goes the saying "Necessity is the mother of invention". Ofcourse i didnt invent this but took the pains to find DeskTask with which you can have your entire outlook calendar displayed onto your desktop. If you're hooked on Outlook for scheduling at work or home, DeskTask is an awesome add-on for keeping a close eye on your schedule. You can avail it from millions on site querring for the same via google. I downloaded it here.

There are plenty of other features to it like you can align it to wherever you want onto your desktop, tweak it to show whatever details of the appointment you need to see and lots more. I hope the post is useful for all the outlook users like me.

SUMO PAINT - The best paint tool available on web.

Looking for a comprehensive paint tool avilable online? Well then anyone would suggest you to GOOGLE to find the answers. In case u are wondering is this the reason i am writing this blogpost then definitely NO. Where i come from is that google provided me with other web based paint tools like web paint etc. which are far behind than what i am writing about.
Its called sumo paint. I liked the painting part of it but guess what u can use it for photo editing too, but for that u need to have a sumo account and obviously have ur photos uploaded there. The beta version is avaiable as of now and it looks pretty similar to MS Paint and the famous saying "Looks are always deceptive" holds apt here, though both the tools are pretty much same the way they look. There are a lot of additional features which i already explored in sumo paint. To give you a glance of what i am talking about here is a list of few tools

1. The move tool: You can move the painting made by you over the dashboard. Must say this is one unique and very good tool.

2. The free transform/rotate tool: In case u wish to wanna rotate or transform the demensions of the painting this tool holds good for that.

3. The pie tool: This particularly is usefull for creating pie charts and stuff.

4. Custom shape tool: This one is the most fascinating of all the tool. In case u are fed up of using the normal shapes like polygon and stuff u can actually go ahead
and develop a whole new shape for yourself.

5. Symmetry tool : This one is my favourite. It actually symmetrisises the entire painting. Now one needs to try it to know why it has so much of beauty attached to it.

6. There is a filter option also avilable which basically allows u to customize the background and paintings with options like blur, emboss etc.

Now to explore the beauty of this and to obviously know why i said this is the best paint tool available online you need to go and try this out. So, why hold your self back. Go and explore your creative side. Here is where you can access sumo paint
Hope you will enjoy it as much as i did.

PICASA 3: The version is released

I was just about to close up all my applications and shut down my PC just because of a simple reason that i could not make modifications to one of the picture when one good friend of mine thanks a ton him suggested the new beta version of picasa. Wow!! Now this is what i call a perfect photo manager.

It gives me almost all the options I needed to optimize the photograph. Unfortunately its only available for windows right now while the MAC version seems to be on its way. The most signigicant feature as suggested in most of the google blogs too is the "sync to web" switch which allows to synchronise the new snaps or any editing to the existing one to be synchronised with the picasa albums right away with one mouse click.

Another fabulous addition was managing the text over any picture. I could add text, align it the way i wanted and guess what? could sync it with the background. Yes!!! you heard me right apart from chosing a colour for your text picasa allows the user to make the text compatible with the background. Now that's one feature i must say i loved to the core and is one fundamental reason for invoking me to write this blog post. The basic features though of editing and cropping remain the same as earlier picasa versions.

As every coin has the second side there are few shortcomings to go along with all these striking features. You can't just increase or decrease the width or height of the picture independently. The adjustment to the width or height goes hand in hand with the other. It offers us a crop but then sometimes we require more than that.

With very little to share on the bad part of it overall its one awesome photo manager tool which is fun to work with and in case you wanna own it, its available totally free here

. Go, download and dont forget to share the experience with me.

FireLick- Finally On The Way!!!

hi all,
Lemme break the ice and break free into blogging world with the whole story of how I got into blogging "FINALLY".

It all began with the discussion with my friends Rohit and Vijay. With lot of crap discussion on tech stuff and a fact that Rohit has a lot of girl friends because of blogging finally i sealed that I have to be a blogger. Its as simple as that.

Thanks to blogger dot com, i had to force off some thousand names before i could stick to one coz of the simple reason that they were unavailable. Uff! Must say there are a hell lot of bloggers around, most of them just create and leave it for GOD to fill the rest of things though.

After that here I am sharing my first blog with the world. With a fond hope that i will also end up being friends to a good number of folks.

Thanks!!
Rahul
