Blade Runner Ultimate Collectors Edition

One of my favorite films is Blade Runner. This DVD set is really kwel, it comes on five discs and includes heaps of extras. Also included in the collectable tin are art cards, a letter from Ridley Scott and a film clip lenticular. But most important are all the versions of the film itself, the five discs line up as follows.....

Disc 1: 2007 Final Cut Version of the film.
Disc 2: Dangerous Days: Making of Blade Runner.
Disc 3: 1982 Theatrical & International Version & 1992 Director's Cut
Disc 4: Bonus Disc Enhancement Archive.
Disc 5: Work print Version of the film.

Doctor Who Goodies

Found this today, I seen a Dalek and that was enough for me to pick it up.

So what is it..... Its a Dalek from Doctor Who, a dalek bubble bath, which I did not realize at the time. It is pretty cool with some nice detail and with a custom paint job it will be a great display piece.

On the note of Doctor Who, I seen this ad today on the television for The Doctor Who DVD Files. Its a partwork publication that will suck all your money away for the next year or so and I am a sucker for partworks (more on that in a future post), I shall try to resist, but that first issue at the low price just kind of grabs you.

Cheap Plastic Airplane Kits

I picked these plastic airplane kits today by Starfix. Found them in a cheap Euro store at twenty five cent each. They are mixed between 1:48 and 1:72 scale. I grabbed one of each of the following.....

Northrop T-38 Talon
Supermarine Spitfire F.MK.21
North American P-51D Mustang
Messerschmitt BF 109G
Douglas A-4F Skyhawk
Spitfire MK IX
Mitsubishi A6M5 Zero-Sen
Messerschmitt BF 109E

Not bad at all, even though the Starfix kits are not known for their accuracy or detail, but at two Euro for eight model airplanes it was a Kwel find. I’m sure I will have a bit of fun putting these together as it has been quite a while since I have built any plastic models like this.

Starfleet On DVD

Yes its coming to DVDat last, on the 19th January. I never thought I would see this be released officially on DVD, but it is.....Wahey!

Starfleet is a Japanese puppet science fiction show that was dubbed into English for the UK television broadcast, it was originally called X Bomber in Japan. The show drew on influences such as Star Wars, Japanese Anime and Gerry Anderson's various puppet shows.....

The DVD set will contain all 24 episodes, remastered, and restored. It is available to preorder from Amazon

Here is the plot outline taken from Wikipedia.

The year is 2999 and the Earth is at peace following the Space Wars. The safety of the human race is ensured by Earth Defense Force (EDF). Shortly before the turn of the fourth millennium, the peace is broken by the appearance of a gigantic alien battle cruiser. Powerless to defend itself, the EDF's Pluto base is completely destroyed and the evil Bloody Mary (Commander Makara in the English dub) reveals that the same fate awaits the Earth unless the mysterious F-Zero-One is handed over to her.

Unaware of the nature of F-Zero-One and fearing retribution, the EDF presses into action an untested, incomplete weapon, codenamed X-Project, from its hidden moon-base. The X-Project is revealed to be a powerfully-armed spacecraft named X-Bomber.

The series then follows the adventures of the crew of the X-Bomber, namely Doctor Benn, Shiro Ginga (Shiro Hagen in the dub), Bongo Heracles (Barry Hercules in the dub) and Bigman Lee (John Lee in the dub), who are joined by PPA (Perfectly Programmed Android), Lamia and her Wookie-like guardian Kirara. They set off to discover the nature of the F-Zero-One and try to protect it from the increasingly desperate and unstable Bloody Mary (Makara) and her demanding overlord, the Imperial Master.

I have fond memories of this show as a kid, it was on every Saturday morning in the early eighties and was the reason to get up early on a Saturday. The Theme tune was a classic, so much so Brian May of Queen covered it with Eddie Van Halen. Just check out the videos to see how Kwel , this show is. This DVD is going to be top of my list to relive those fond memories I have of children's Saturday morning television.

Baked Beans Microwave Credit Crunch Lazy Snack

Here is one of my crazy, lazy recipes, a baked bean snack to beat the credit crunch. Its a cheap snack for when you want something tasty but cant be bothered to cook.

If I had to give this snack a name it would be .....

Poor Mans Pizza.

For this snack you will need:

can of baked beans.
some cheese (cheese slices will do)
some bread.
some black pepper.
tomato ketchup (to thicken up the sauce of the beans)
a microwave (the lazy way)

First pour the can of beans in a microwavable container and add black pepper, a generous squeeze of tomato ketchup, then stir.

Then add the cheese, to your liking and heat in the microwave for 1 minute, remove and stir.

Toast some slices of bread, as you heat the mixture for a further 2 minutes or untill the cheese is melted.

Stir the mixture of beans and cheese and leave to stand for 1 minute then pour over the toast slices, for a lazy cheesy baked bean snack.

You could also add chilli powder to the beans for a hotter snack.

Done!!!

If the answer is yes, you should check out Slice the Pie. Its free to join and you get paid to write reviews and rate music tracks by a variety of artists. The more you review and rate the more you earn as your scout star rating goes up. The star rating breaks down as follows.

1 Stars = £0.03 per track
2 Stars = £0.05 per track
3 Stars = £0.07 per track
4 Stars = £0.09 per track
5 Stars = £0.12 per track

So far I have rated so far 281 tracks and got a 3 star scout rating.

Your scout rating will rise higher, the more reviews you write and also how accurate you are at rating the tracks. I discovered Slice the Pie a week ago and any time I have a spare half hour or so, I have been writing some reviews and have already earned nearly £15. The minimum amount you can withdraw is £5 via paypal.

I requested a payment of £10 two days ago and it was credited to my paypal account today, not bad at all. What makes it even better payment is in British pounds so when paypal did the currency conversion to Euro that £10 became 11.12 Euro. Below is a shot of the paypal transaction, I was well pleased with it as it is the first bit of extra cash that I have earned online so far, its not a fortune but its a start.

If you were to get serious with Slice the Pie and set a few hours a day by to write reviews and rate songs, there would be no limit to how much you make. I was impressed with the earnings for the little amount of time I have spent writing reviews on the site, I would say its well Kwel.

Yes Christmas is coming! and so is the new Doctor Who Christmas special, I’m excited to say the least with the trailer and the sneak peek of the fist two minutes of the episode as first shown on this years Children in Need telethon. Hopefully it might give some clues as to who will take over from David Tennant as the new doctor.

Its something I can not wait for , I think I may be more looking forward to the new Doctor Who special than Christmas itself. David Morrissey may or may not be in the running for the as the new doctor, but said he would jump at the chance.

Who will be the new Who.

Who knows?

What is Kwel Stuff ? Well its stuff that’s cool. The urban dictionary has one entry that defines “Kwel” as :

“A word that means about the same as cool, but started as a way to differentiate between the two meanings. It has increasingly been used to replace the word cool in texts and notes between friends. It is used to express that something or someone is held in high esteem, an item is wanted, something is valuable, and/or and action was admirable.”

Kwel stuff is going to be a random mix of…., well stuff… Covering action figures and other odds and ends that I have collected over the years. If I had to put up a quick list of the kind of stuff that I will be posting about, it would go something like this.

Movies (mainly Horror and Sci fi)

Music (mainly metal and rock)
Comics and books
Some general randomness
A bit a humor
Maybe earn a little extra cash
And the odd recipe for disaster

The blog will be an ongoing work in progess and will be tweaked here and their over the coming months.
