When I visited my little sister back in May we spent the afternoon here. It was great fun and I got lots of wonderful pictures of just about every under water creature imaginable! One of my favorites was most definitely the seahorse picture along with this fountain. You can find the seahorse here. There were some very cool exhibits designed from metal tiles to wooden planks. It was an adventurous day and I enjoyed every minute of it. You can find more pictures from my visit to Texas on Facebook by clicking here. The sky was so beautiful after a small rain shower. Some family looked at the photo and commented that it looks as though there is a small cross on top of that building in the sunset. It almost looks like Christ with outstretched arms. What do you think? I do love the colors of this shot as well as the silhouettes of the trees and buildings. I can't wait to see what you come up with this week. We enjoyed some time on our friend's party barge. The kids wore themselves out jumping off the boat into the water and swimming. It was great fun to get away even if for only a day. It was a nice day, just warm enough to enjoy being in the water but not too miserable when you were out. I am so glad that we live close enough to a large body of water to get out and enjoy it when the time permits. The kids had a great time and I must admit that I did as well!
Up first was the girl band, KSM. We missed a big part of their show because we were getting T-shirts ($30 - I am not even kidding!!!) for the girls and some sort of glow sticks with Demi's name ($10).

Before the show, we all watched Demi Lovato and her B/F/F in the newest Disney Release, Princess Protection Program. This is a movie that the whole family will enjoy. The DVD features the music video staring Demi with co-star Selena Gomez with their hit song, "One in the Same". One of my favorite Demi Lovato songs is also the premisis of this movie, "When Two Different Worlds Collide". I feel this movie will follow a similar path as the High School Musical Phenomena that also spun from the masterminds at Disney. Selena and Demi are what's hot right now with the "tween" population, and as demonstrated by my daughter and my neice, even younger. It is nice to see these girls presenting themselves as good role models for my daughter.

Speaking of good role models, The Jonas Brothers are right up there at the top of my list. I saw these guys on Larry King and they are very intelligent young men. I remember the crush I had on a certain "Joey Joe" from a little band some of you might remember called New Kids on The Block. As I watched this DVD, I was taken back to 5th grade when NKOTB came to Arkansas and EVERYONE in my class (or though it seemed) went to this show but me. I was devastated, but it was short lived, I'm sure. This DVD, The Jonas Brothers: The Concert Experience is just like being at the Jonas Brother's Concert, only you get an all access backstage pass at what the guys are doing off stage as well. If you have a Blue Ray disk player, you're in luck, because the set comes with DVD glasses and you can enjoy the concert in 3-D from the comforts of your own non-crowded home! If you've got a "Jo-Bro" fan in your household, this is a must have!!!
We don't get to do this kind of shopping often. It's a treat to go to the mall. We live in a small town with very limited shopping centers. We have a JC Penney, Bath and Body, and a few clothing shops but mostly we shop at Wal-Mart just because that's really all there is. The closest Target is in NLR (about an hour's drive). There are lots of Mexican restaurants, pizza joints, doctor's offices, probably even a mesothelioma clinic, just not a big mall.

Shelby loved being at the mall. She has not been in a long time and she proudly procclaimed as we left that "The mall is WAY more fun than Wal-Mart".

Every day since our venture she's asked if we were going to the mall today. So, what do you think? I believe that I might have created a monster, a shopping monster that is!

***Thanks for subscribing to my feed.

If you've not seen this one, you're missing out! This is a great suspense thriller. Any mother will sit on the edge of her seat while watching this one. The decisions that Jamie Taylor has to make in this movie are gripping and will make you wonder yourself if what you would do if you were held captive and told you were to kill your husband in order to sacrifice your son's life. That is just what happens to her and as the events of this movie unfold, you will move closer and closer to the edge of your seat. When Cena's character, Fisher stumbles upon a million dollar heist gone bad, he takes down a notorious Irish arms dealer. In the process, the bad guy's girlfriend gets killed. He vows revenge against the cop. When he is released from prison, 12 rounds of hell begin for Fisher who's wife is kidnapped by the notorious criminal. Fisher is put through a series of mental and physical challenges in order to proceed to the next round. If he makes it through all 12 rounds safely, he will be reunited with his kidnapped sweet heart. This is a good action movie. Jon Cena is great eye candy if nothing else. Unfortunately, it was a bit predictable to me, but there were some great action scenes including an exploding house. The DVD includes, the making of featurettes, deleted scenes, and the ever popular gag reel. Grab it today, from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment! All in all it's an entertaining event.

***Thanks for subscribing to my feed.

We survived a wonderful extra long holiday weekend. I hope you did also.

I have lots of things that I need to post about, including but not limited to:

* Shelby's first concert experience: Demi Lovato with David Archuleta...dinner at a Japanese Steakhouse.

* Emily's first 4th of July including fireworks.

* Shelby's trip to the mall (I think I've created a monster).

* DVD Reviews including: 12 Rounds & The Betrayed., and much more in the coming days!

* Diet updates...well, there's really nothing to post about there. I have fallen off the wagon. I'm not doing any work outs and I'm eating horribly. There, I said it. I wish I could find some sort of magic fat burners to just melt away the pounds.

For now, I'm going to go join Emily in sleep. She is in her bed now, but this was a photo I took of her earlier today at the office while I was working, she was kicked back comfortably in her car seat, just living the life! I promise if you've e-mailed me, or asked me questions in comments that need answering, I will get to you eventually. Some day I will be caught up with everything including housework, phone calls, e-mails, blog reading, etc. Well, a girl can at least dream can't she?! Maybe some day when my children are grown?!

***Thanks for subscribing to my feed.

This case stemmed from a group of so called Baptists. I, for one refuse to refer to these monsters as Baptists. There is no way that God would condone such behavior. These people are idiots who take advantage of their first amendment rights at the most inappropriate time possible.

Let me explain for those of you who have not heard of this group of gay-hating, anti-war, small minded (so called) "Baptists" from Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka Kansas. I refuse to link to them here but their domain name includes "godhatesfags". These people travel all over this great country, attending funerals of fallen soldiers. They carry signs that would make any red-blooded American's red blood boil! I cannot even imagine saying the things that these signs proclaim to anyone, much less to a mother after her son has given his life so I could stand on that street corner and protest!!! They protest at the funerals of fallen soldiers. Yes, you read that correctly! They protest at the funerals of fallen soldiers!! The thought of this makes my stomach turn. This has to be one of the best appetite suppressants ever. I can only imagine the pain that a family goes through after sacrificing a loved one in such an unselfish way. It is something that I have never experienced and pray every day that I never have to.

I just can't understand where these people think that they are in the right. No matter how you feel about our country, our government, or our military what right does that give you to make an appearance at a funeral holding a sign that says that God hated that person so that their family could see. What makes anyone in their right mind think that God HATES anybody?! Aren't Christians supposed to LOVEstand and unite against such action everyone as GOD loved everyone?! As a country, I believe that we should ! There is a time and a place for everything. This is clearly not appropriate. Click this link and find out just how hateful these people are!!! This is an interview with Shirley Phelps-Roper as she protested at a funeral in Arlington National Cemetery. This woman spits pure hatred as she speaks about the impending doom of our nation and how this country is waiting to "vomit". We're all going to be running for the hills because we've called God a liar one too many times. Come on, woman p-uhlease?! Get your head out of the sand and get some love in your heart!

America, no matter whether or not you support the war in Iraq, our president, or gay marriage surely you have a daughter, son, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, father, mother, neighbor, or friend who has served this great nation. What if you were attending their funeral and had to walk past signs that degraded them and rejoiced their death? It's unimaginable and should NOT be allowed. An anti-protest law needs to be upheld stating that NO ONE should be allowed to protest within boundaries of a funeral, first amendment or not! Let them go the steps of the US Capital, Congress, Supreme Court, or wherever else they feel the need to spit their venom, but keep them away from funerals. It's unnecessary and repulsive!

...and in my best Forrest Gump voice, "That's all I've got to say about that." :)
I'm putting away my soap box and going to bed now.

***Thanks for subscribing to my feed.

I have ultimately decided to give a small piece of my opinion on the subject and try to be objective. I watched Jon and Kate Plus 8 last week in tears when it was finally announced that they were going to be divorced. I was so sad for the Gosselin family. I am sad for the children, and for the couple who is parting ways. Say what you want about Kate or Jon, it's still a sad situation. This week's episode took us back into happier times, reliving the past 10 years with the Gosselin family. Seeing the couple sit in the same interview chair and laugh with one another while discussing the antics of their children was refreshing to me. That is why I watched the show.

I am sure that the show has had a profound effect on not only their relationship but also their lives. Those children know nothing of life outside of TV cameras and paparazzi. I can say that's sad, but I am to blame. I watch the show. I feel like I know the children because I have watched them grow up. So, those television cameras are there for my benefit. As far as the paparazzi go, I don't read tabloids. I believe in boundaries. I don't think that those tabloid photographers have any. They cross the lines every day photographing families and trying to get people at their worst moment to generate a headline.

With a heavy heart I wish the Gosselin family all of the best. There are no online greeting cards for healing the broken hearts in divorce. It's sad to see a family split up, no matter what the reasons are behind it all. I can only hope that in the end the decisions that have been made are what's best for the kids because ultimately that's what really matters.

***Thanks for subscribing to my feed.
Linda also had this to say, "As a mom with two daughters, I kind of have to agree with Travis on this one - especially considering that with both of my girls their hair always grew out really fast. There are so many cute haircuts out there that are short and very easy to take care of but I would be willing to bet that Dad likes Shelby's hair a little long, right? Most dads do!"

This got me to thinking back to when I was a girl and wanted my hair cut and my step-dad wouldn't allow it. He had the old school mentality that little girls should have long hair. He always told us that when we were grown we could do as we please with our hair but as long as we "lived under his roof" we would have long hair. While Brien said that he didn't want Shelby's hair any shorter than shoulder length, I think that he could probably be swayed pretty easily otherwise.

I have always been pretty lenient with Shelby on her hair. She has never really wanted it "short" until last week after my Dad took my little sister while he had her (unbeknownst to her mother) and had her hair all cut off. While the style looks really cute on her, I knew that it wouldn't fit Shelby's hair texture so I wanted her to just cut it to her shoulders and told her that we'd talk about getting it cut shorter if she chose to do so. Her hair is very thick and coarse, so the short, stacked style would be a bouffant on her.

When we got home and she washed it and we styled it she totally fell in love with her new hair cut. She actually has quite a bit of body and wave to her hair and with it's current length she can get a little bit of "curl" to it with some styling product. She decided that for now she didn't want it to be any shorter.

So, this leaves me to ponder the fact. How do you feel about cutting a girl's hair, namely your daughter's hair. Do you, did you, or will you give your children creative control over their hair styles, color, and cut? At what age do you think this is appropriate? It's not that I didn't allow Shelby to not get her hair cut short. I just postponed the inevidable. I am still up in the air on how I feel about this one since I was once a little girl who wanted her hair short and was not allowed. I am looking forward to hearing your comments on this subject.

***Thanks for subscribing to my feed.

It was such a beautiful weekend. You might remember a Ruby Tuesday post I did where Tyler did a nose dive from the monkey bars and fell face first into the rocks below.. That incident also occurred while we were in beautiful Mountain View, Arkansas. Thankfully, the search for river rock ended well. They both had a bag full of shells, rock, and other odd sticks and what not. I loved this shot because of the depth of the photo. The beauty of the scenery just seems to go on and on just as the search for rocks would have if it were up to the children. They enjoyed the rock search. I enjoyed photographing them and Brien enjoyed lounging in the boat enjoying some peace and quiet while waiting on us. I'm not too sure he didn't catch a bit of sleep while he waited. Although relaxing in Las Vegas hotels after a fun night of gambling is fun, but I just don't know that anything can beat the peaceful, serene, and relaxing setting we enjoyed on this beautiful day.

***Thanks for subscribing to my feed.
This morning as I searched through Tyler's closet for some clothes for him to wear I smelled a strong urine smell. I asked him if he'd peed in his closet last night. He said that Oscar peed in his closet. Obviously this was NOT an animal (one of the four legged persuasion, anyhow).

Fast forward to our arrival to the house this afternoon. I had forgotten about the smell. I am preparing dinner when Tyler brings me a play cell phone and asks why his phone was wet. I hold out my hand and ask him where it was. He says it came from his closet. I immediately flashed back to this morning's conversation and sniffed the phone. Oh yes, it was covered in urine! I put the phone in the sink, washed my hands and grabbed the floor cleaner and told him to show me where the phone was. I sniffed all around and could not find anything else that had this strong smell. I was a bit perplexed because I realized that with urine dripping from the thing there had to be a pool of it somewhere.

I threw away the phone, scrubbed my hands and went back to dinner preperation and was once again interrupted by my three year old son. He said that his toy truck and four wheeler were "stinky". I smelled them and said show me where you got them. He took me to his room and pointed to a small plastic drawer that slides in and out of his toy box. THIS was the culprit. I had found my small pool of urine that he claimed was in the closet. Obviously this was not the work of a dog.

My guess is that he woke up in the middle of the night and probably half asleep needed to pee, so he relieved himself in the toy container thinking that he was in the restroom. I think that everyone has probably done this at some point in time. I know that once Shelby peed in her floor on some toys one night. Hubby (when he was a kid of course) peed in the closet. Myself, I don't remember peeing in an odd place, but I'm sure I did. I'll have to ask my mother. What strange places have YOU peed?!

***Thanks for subscribing to my feed.

You can still see some of the smoke billowing in the trees. I walked outside to let the dog take care of his morning business and was mesmerized by this sight! I stood there admiring it for a while and then realized I needed to rush in to grab my camera because this was a perfect sight for a "LATSOF" post!!! I am often greeted by sunsets but rarely do I experience a sunrise. Usually Oscar goes out front, but I wanted to check up on the fire so we went out back. I am so glad I did! I can't wait to see what you all come up with this week. Don't forget to sign Mr Linky after you leave a comment so everyone can visit you.
Since the movie opened on a Wednesday night I thought we could take the kiddos and it would't be as crowded as a Friday night. Unfortunately that was not the case. We got to the theater fifteen minutes until showtime and it was a packed house. We ended up sitting on the third row which the kids LOVED...my neck, no not so much!

The plot had a great mixture of comedy and drama as well as action, loads and loads of action. A lot of the old characteristics of what I remember of the cartoon were brought into this one, such as more than one transformer combining to make a super transformer. There are some sad parts in this one, like when Sam goes off to college and his mom (and eventually Dad) get very emotional. Okay, so that wasn't sad but there were seriously some emotional scenes for me but I won't spoil the plot for you here. There were many more funny parts in this one than it's predecessor. Sam's Mom eats some "organic" cookies while dropping Sam off at college which ends in her getting high. This ends in quite a funny scene for the viewers but very uncomfortable for Sam and his father.

There is a whole slew of new characters in this film. Among my favorites were the affore mentioned twins and Wheelie, a blue radio-controlled monster truck. When you hear the voices of these three characters keep in mind that they are all the same person. His name is Tom Kenny. You might recognize him if you have children from his work on a little program on Nickelodean about a square pants wearing sponge. I kept thinking that I knew that voice from somewhere but couldn't put my finger on it.

Overall it was a great movie with an intriguing plot. By the end of the movie, I was on pins and needles to find out what happened. I would recommend this movie to anyone who enjoyed the first one. If you haven't seen the first one, I would recommend doing so before you see this one, or some things might not make as much sense. This movie was definitely an A+ for me. Go see it, let me know what you think when you do!

***Thanks for subscribing to my feed.
