Nadine + Graeme | Towerbosch, Knorhoek

noreply@blogger.com (Taryn Ward) — Fri, 20 Jun 2014 14:07:00 +0000

So glad to finally blog this wedding!! It is my last wedding for the Summer wedding season and what a way to end it off :) Nadine and Graeme had a festive celebration at the stunning Towerbosch venue at Knorhoek wine estate with pops of bright colours and natural surroundings.

The decor was simplistic and pretty with colourful fynbos and wild flowers in vintage Bashews bottles, which were easy to clear away for when the main course came. The main course consisted of a variety of warm hearty dishes that everyone at the table needed to share and pass around as they wished, which was such a great social way to presenting the meals and getting the guests to mingle :)

It was so sweet, when I arrived at the girls..the little flower girl came running up to show me her big ring and the bride brought to my attention that the little girl also insisted she wanted to have the same nails as the bride...so you'll see a shot further down of the two of them with matching pink fingernails and matching blue toenails :)

The bride arrived in a newly remodelled vintage 4x4 (did I get that right Graeme??)..because the couple are very fond of going on 4x4 trips..at the ceremony that was held under a canopy amongst trees and a forrest background with a colourful ribbon banner to add to the festiveness of the day where the couples said their 'I do's'. After the ceremony the couple walked through a cloud of 'cornfetti' into the garden to take a group shot that was followed by a small burst of rain that sent guests ducking back to the venue..was quite entertaining!

We were blessed with clear skies and sunshine for the most part of the couple shoot that involved some pretty white balloons on an abandoned tennis court on the estate :)

All in all it was such a fun day and Nadine and Graeme looked so great and were up for anything during the shoot! Thanks for being such great clients to photograph! And thanks to my assistant Debbie for all your help on the day..you were a star!

Annette + Johann | Gansbaai

noreply@blogger.com (Taryn Ward) — Tue, 17 Jun 2014 08:51:00 +0000

I got to photograph these two sweeties recently at their wedding held in Gansbaai! They are Anette and Johann and they have such a beautiful relationship and love for God and they incorporated that into their wedding day. I just loved the decor with all the fynbos, wild flowers and proteas for days!

I photographed the main bits of the wedding and my friend Lizelle Lotter captured the getting ready and couple shoot part - reason being that she was a bridesmaid...woohooo - nonetheless, we made a mean team!

This wedding is so special and pretty it speaks for itself - so enjoy the pics :)

Tanya + Egbert | Riebeek Kasteel

noreply@blogger.com (Taryn Ward) — Sun, 01 Jun 2014 15:17:00 +0000

What a beauty of a wedding that I got to capture in Riebeek Kasteel! Tanya and Egbert looked absolutely incredible! It was one of those warm Summer days that made you want to sit and soak up then sun all day and in the afternoon it lit up the sky with an amazing colourful sunset.

The decor was a mixture of white textures with succulent greens and royal purples and the cake was made up of Lindt chocolate balls! The ceremony was sweet and intimate under trees next to a river on the Delsma Farm estate.

It was so wonderful to photograph this couple. Tanya has this elegance about her and she looked exquisite in her lace dress alongside her dashing groom in his blue fitted suit. We had lots of fun with their shoot as they were playful and silly in front of the camera and it made for some really great shots :) We then head to the rest of the festivities happing at the venue and what a fun group of guests they had! The photobooth was so funny to document and I added some of the pics at the end of this post.

Enjoy the pics!

Meet the Newton family. They are Lilly (5), Natalie, Jamie (6), and Richard. And we had a super fun family shoot in the forrest in Stellenbosch recently. We left the kids to run around and play and I just documented whatever was happening..was so fun and natural :)

Really had such a great afternoon with the Newton's and you can see the energy in the pictures! Jamie and Lilly are such cuties and did so well with the shoot :) Enjoy!

Yvonne & Duran | Stellenbosch

noreply@blogger.com (Taryn Ward) — Mon, 26 May 2014 16:43:00 +0000

It was so fantastic to photograph Yvonne and Duran's wedding in a forrest in Stellenbosch, it was such a magical setting on a truly stunning day!

I loved the simple and minimalistic DIY decor with touches of fynbos and proteas (my fave!!) and how cool are the table numbers! Also how gorgeous is that cake with the adorable little his and hers hedgehogs :)

The ceremony was held under a canopy of trees crackling softly in the background whilst Yvonne and Duran exchanged their vows and tied the knot. We played in the forrest for a bit with all the photos and then head back to the venue were the celebrations and festivities continued!

Enjoy the pics :)

I did some second shooting for Du Wayne Denton in December at Chantél and Jean's wedding held at Ashanti Estate and it was such a pleasure to work alongside Du Wayne! He is an incredible photographer and had so much fun on the day :)

I thought I would share a handful of pics from this wedding which was simply gorgeous with incredible detail everywhere and stunning decor for me to snap away. Have a look at the photos Du Wayne took here.

Silke & Billy | Landtscap, Stellenbosch

noreply@blogger.com (Taryn Ward) — Fri, 11 Apr 2014 10:03:00 +0000

Yay I finally get to share the amazing wedding of Silke and Billy that was held at the stunning venue Landtscap!! This is definitely one of my favourite weddings! I can't get over how gorgeous this couple is along with their beautiful pastel themed wedding - do yourself a favour and look at that decor!

I remember visiting Silke and Billy at their home in Stellenbosch for our last meeting with timings etc.. and they showed me their garage filled with glass jars of every size that had been painted with an array of pastels - so I can vouch that these guys put in a lot of hard work and many hours into making this wedding the best day ever :) It was such a treat to be able to see the final result of the painted jars on the tables filled with soft white flowers. Also the quirky table names playing around with the word 'tafel' (which means table in Afrikaans) just added something extra to finish off the decor with names like 'hooftafel', 'tafeltennis', and 'tafelberg' :)

Oh and how could I forget Silke's pastel rainbow coloured bouquet! Simply gorgeous! Even the room where Silke got ready in had pastel colours in it :)

The Stellenbosch weather played along well - have a look at the end of the post to see the incredible sunset on the mountains. Such a stunning Summer's evening ended off with dancing and customised ice-cream with B+S engraved on the sticks....the brownie cheesecake ice-cream was out of this world good!

I think these photos speak for themselves and show how in love these two people are with each other. Enjoy the post and show these lovebirds some love and appreciation of their special day :)

PERSONAL POST // Life on a farm in Stellenbosch

noreply@blogger.com (Taryn Ward) — Tue, 25 Mar 2014 11:25:00 +0000

So a few months ago I decided that I needed a change of scenery for my home and office (which are one and the same) and somewhere that would make my heart happy :) After weeks of searching I found an awesome little cottage on a farm just outside of Stellenbosch that I got to share with two other girls and their two cool cats.

However, I only got to spend 6 or so months in Stellenbosch and had to move again due to unforeseen circumstances and am now temporarily living in a little retro house in the Strand - which I also love :) Yes, I am sad to leave the cottage behind. And yes, farm life is very different from living in the suburbs and I found it so good for ones soul, but it seems everything happens for a reason.

The farm had lots of animals like ducks, geese, cats and cows that kept me amused and entertained. Like on rainy days the ducks would waddle into the garden and graze on our lawn and swim in puddles near the cottage, and on warm sunny days I got to lie on a blanket in the sun on the lawn and watch the sun filter through the trees leaves and afterwards go for a walk around the farm closely followed by the cats of the house - namely Alex and Alfie. In the week on my way to meetings I needed to wait for geese to cross the road into the damn and on quiet evenings I could hear the soft mooing of the cows in the distance.

I have some special memories from living on a farm and I wanted to share some photos from the time that I stayed there.

Caitlin + David | Cape Town

noreply@blogger.com (Taryn Ward) — Fri, 21 Mar 2014 10:48:00 +0000

So thrilled to finally be sharing this stunning wedding of two special people that I can call friends :) It is that of Caity and Dave and they tied the knot in Cape Town on a hot Summers day that couldn't have been more perfect if they tried. It was so awesome to see Caity all done up and looking exquisite in her wedding gown that fitted like a glove along side her equally dashing groom as they exchanged vows.

I arrived to photograph the decor and just had to smile and appreciate all the hard work and DIY that Caity and friends put into it, like the candlesticks that Caity made out of collecting old chair legs and spray painting them - so ingenious! Then I joined the girls as they prepped and helped the bride get to the church on time followed by the ceremony and an explosion of confetti in the courtyard.

Then came the bridal party pics which were nothing short of fun in the long grass near Kirstenbosch and had a good laugh photographing all the guys and girls who were game for anything :) We then head to the reception for all the formalities and eventually the opening of the dance floor - I've honestly never seen a dance floor so packed with guests right through the night - they even had to keep clearing tables to make more floor space for the party animals! Then you know it was an epic party!

I just need to say that these are two are an exceptional couple and their love for each other is truly undeniable. I wish them many years of happiness and love in abundance!

P.S I did a crazy cool couple shoot with Cait & Dave prior to the wedding - you can view it here.

Thomas newborn shoot | Hout Bay

noreply@blogger.com (Taryn Ward) — Mon, 10 Mar 2014 09:19:00 +0000

Meet baby Thomas! He is an adorable little munchkin and at the time of this shoot he was 7,5 weeks old. He was born on 19 November 2013 at 12:55am. His gorgeous parents - Joelle and Mike - contacted me to take some maternity photos of Joelle in Oct/Nov last year as she was due to have Thomas in Dec, and due to unforeseen circumstances we had to move the shoot date around 2 or 3 times and then started wondering if we had enough time left. Mike then organised a surprise maternity shoot for his wife on a weekend away and I was to meet them there and document it all and a week before the surprise shoot Thomas decided to surprise all of us and arrive early :)

So instead of a maternity shoot I got to photograph a little baby and his proud parents! Oh and the furbabies featured too...see at the end of this post :)

It was such a pleasure photographing this beautiful new family and all the excitement that comes with babies. Thomas is too cute for words and I love how his parents decorated his nursery with a Winnie the Pooh theme!! And how awesome is his moustache vest?

Michele + Bart | Paternoster

noreply@blogger.com (Taryn Ward) — Fri, 07 Mar 2014 08:00:00 +0000

Bart and Michele are a stunning and chilled couple residing in Johannesburg and had their intimate wedding on Christmas eve in the equally stunning town of Paternoster - so naturally it was a chilled day with a special ceremony on a secluded part of the beach with only a handful of family and friends in attendance.

Yes, the wind might have half blown us away at one point, but it was such a beautiful ceremony and I almost forgot about it when I was busy photographing Michele and Bart and their radiating happiness :)

I loved Michele's grey/blue dress that was so fitting with the seascapes and the blues of the town. Also it was fitting that the decor be Christmas themed including baubles and crackers!

The speeches were so special and touching I had to hold back my own tears as I photographed people crying during the reception.

I hope you enjoy your photos and memories Michele and Bart :)

Riaan 21st | Stellenbosch

noreply@blogger.com (Taryn Ward) — Mon, 03 Mar 2014 19:46:00 +0000

I got to document the birthday celebrations of an awesome guy recently along with his close friends and family. The event was held at the gorgeous Mont Marie in Stellenbosch and the weather held long enough for guests to enjoy dinner before the rain descended upon us.

This has definitely got to be one of the nicest 21st's I've attended and Riaan's mom Hanlie did such a great job with the decor and flowers!

Congrats on turning 21 Riaan :)

Christine + Wesley | Hathersage, Somerset West

noreply@blogger.com (Taryn Ward) — Fri, 14 Feb 2014 07:08:00 +0000

I'm so excited to share this gorgeous wedding with you all today! It is that of Christine and Wesley Moore that got married at the stunning Hathersage venue in Somerset West, and it was my first wedding in Somerset West after growing up and living there for several years - you can only imagine how ecstatic I was for this wedding :)

Some highlights from the day were Christine's BEAUTIFUL dress that she made herself - whaaaat!? Literally every bead you see on the dress and belt was put on by Christine and her mom. Crazy beautiful right! The cool and stylishly designed wedding stationery, table seatings with guests last names, thank you stamps etc..just look at the decor and you will see all the hard work that went into it - and Christine designed everything! The brides funky and different bouquet. The grooms stylish, simple and elegant suit. The special ceremony held under a tree in the garden of the wedding venue. The brides black diamond ring! Oh man I can go on and on.

Its so touching to see a husband so devoted and in love with his wife and that is exactly what Wesley is. The two of them have strong chemistry and its always a pleasure to photograph them!

See their engagement shoot that I photographed here.

This wedding is definitely one of my favourites :)

Meet baby Kira | Somerset West

noreply@blogger.com (Taryn Ward) — Mon, 27 Jan 2014 12:09:00 +0000

I got to meet this little princess late December last year as well as her adoring parents, Michelle and Christo Zietsman, who are absolutely glowing when they are around their little girl. Little Kira was just 3 weeks old when I came round to photograph her :) Such a precious little girl!

She did very well despite it being a hot 30 degree day at her home in Somerset West. Even Michelle and Christo's fur-babies were there to come check up on the baby every time there was a little niggle or baby noise...you'll see the dogs feature later in this post.

Enjoy the pics!

Megan + Dewald wedding | Stellenbosch

noreply@blogger.com (Taryn Ward) — Tue, 21 Jan 2014 08:53:00 +0000

I'm so glad I got to photograph Megan and Dewald's beautiful Stellenbosch wedding! It was a perfect hot Summers day and their venue De Ouwe Klok is situated on a farm with horses and donkeys and tall oak trees creating a canopy where these two got wed.

I got to meet this totally sweet couple some weeks ago when I photographed their engagement shoot (view here) so by now they were completely comfortable in front of the camera :) I just loved their couple shoot! Megan simply radiated timeless elegance next to her dashing groom!

The ceremony was really special...I was right in front of the aisle photographing Megan walking up to her groom and I turned to Dewald to get some pictures of his reaction, and he had tears in his eyes, which made me want to get all teary....hehe..such a special emotional moment for those two.

I wish you many happy years of marriage and may you guys party as hard in your old age as you jammed at your wedding!

Update: I forgot to mention that Dewald is in the Navy and you may notice that their wedding cake topper is a man in uniform next to his bride...thought that was an awesome touch! Well done Delana on the cake!

Chris + Yani couple shoot | Boschendal

noreply@blogger.com (Taryn Ward) — Tue, 14 Jan 2014 09:06:00 +0000

In December I got to meet this lovely couple! They were NEWLY engaged and so smitten with each other during the shoot and it was so great to get to capture those moments :)

Yani and Chris currently live in Miami, USA, and Chris is originally from South Africa. They came on a family holiday with Yani's parents to South Africa and met up with Chris's folks and then toured the country. Chris finally popped the question when he and Yani had a private moment on top of Table Mountain and the family joined in after to celebrate their engagement!!

Kudos to Yani and Chris for organising an engagement shoot on such short notice and getting hair and make-up and outfits - and I was happy to help! They wanted to do the shoot on a wine farm in Cape Town with old Cape Dutch buildings and vineyards as you don't see anything like that around Miami and its part of Chris's South African background so it just made sense, so after much research - as most of the wine farms had weddings on around the time - we were able to do the shoot at Boschendal Wine Estate, Franschhoek.

We were spoilt for choice with gorgeous scenery and a beautiful hot Summers day! Yani and Chris took advantage of some wine tasting during the shoot and we all talked for ages. These two are so easy to get along with!

Yani and Chris left for home the day after the shoot, I was kind of sad that they were leaving as we just got to know each other and they are such a sweet and awesome couple!

Enjoy the pics :)
