I’m a bit sad because I’d never seen an LCD shine like that before. I only had it set up in my living room for a short while. A little HBO, some movies, not much gaming at all. But it would have been long enough to pick apart a TV by just watching it. And during that time Sony’s picture defied any major complaints. Standard definition TV looked colorful, clear and without too many artifacts, reminiscent of how good it did on ye old standard def CRTs, before flat panels started hamfisting the upscaling. On the high end, High definition content from a Blu-ray disc felt like pricks from hypodermic needles, 1920 x 1080 of them, filled with a solution of video joy suspended in photons, as well as some unknown meds that made my chest tighten and my eyes unable to blink. It was by far the best LCD I’d ever seen, and as David Katzmeier from CNet said when he reviewed it, one of the best sets ever, although not as fine of a picture as the now extinct Pioneer Kuro plasma sets.

Click Here To Read The Full Article @ Gizmodo

Moebius Makes Music More Natural And Intuitive

Fed up with the static recording and playing practice of contemporary music players? Here is an innovative sound system by Swiss designer Windlin Charles that combining cover art with modern technology promises to take the music to another level. Called “Moebius,” the futuristic player enhances the cover art with integrated digital technology, letting you enjoy all types of digital audio media with minimum fuss. For you may load the music automatically by simply holding your cover art closer to the sound system. The Moebius lets users organize the track as well as sound by just bending and twisting the flexible remote control, making music listening a more natural and intuitive process for trendy music lovers.

Source : TheDesignBlog

N900 Outed In Proto Expose

Amazing. The Mobile-Review team out in Russia have had a prototype N900 for a while and because of the leaked information they have seen on it they have chosen to air some initial thoughts including device images and a ton of images about the OS. There’s a lot to analyse here. It’s a phone. It’s running Maemo 5. It’s looking like Nokia really is moving to Maemo as their high-end OS. I’m quite stunned that Maemo has come this far. Hats off to Nokia. I’m going to try and get myself down to Stuttgart for Nokia World now because clearly this is going to be on the agenda there in just a few weeks.

We’ve added all the specifications we could confirm from the article into a new N900 information page which we’ll be updating as new information comes in but for now, the best information is over at Mobile-Review. As usual there’s a lively conversation over at Internet Tablet Talk. Your immediate thoughts are welcome in the comments below.

Source : UMPCPortal

CD/DVD Player That Blends Acoustic With Advanced Visual Effects

Blending the acoustic with advanced visual effects, designer Denis Belmas has developed an innovative CD/DVD player that not only sounds good but also looks good. Featuring a hexagon surface finished with black glossy plastic resembling a vinyl disk, the CD/ DVD player by the Ukrainian designer comes integrated with light-emitting diodes (LEDs) at the back side that illuminates to create an aura of light around the player. The music player hides two glass flaps within the case and presents simple controls, so you may enjoy your favorite tracks without any interruption. Apart from resting the player on the table or shelf, you may also mount it on the wall, which makes it ideal for the small apartments. It’s not too bad a pick for spacious living spaces either!

Source : TheDesignBlog

Move In Style With Samsung’s N310 Mini Laptop

Samsung’s N310 netbook is a result of class leading design and sophisticated styling, designed by Naoto Fukasawa, a leading international designer whose work have won more than 50 design awards. Sharp’s latest JD-7C1CL/CW cordless phone is different from the rest since it comes with a 7″ touchscreen LCD display can actually be used to access basic phone functions including voice mail, while displaying other features such as a clock, calendar, phonebook with images and even your collection of digital photos. The 800 x 600 resolution ought to be more than enough for most people, while 128MB of internal memory should serve this Sharp offering well. We would like to see future versions incorporate email support though – that’d make it a clear winner.

Source : UberGizmo

Kohjinsha's 11.6-Inch EX6 Convertible Tablet Says XP, Means Windows 7

With Windows 7 on the horizon, multi-touch support in tow, people are suddenly interested in tablets all over again; a form factor that didn’t quite revolutionize portable computing as envisioned by an enthusiastic Bill Gates showing that first prototype way back in 2001. And with an Apple event just weeks away (presumably), fanboys of both persuasions seem convinced that tablets are once more the future of mobile computing. Manufacturers are certainly on board. Case in point: Kohjinsha, that just announced its EX6 convertible tablet with 1366×768 pixels slathered across a 11.6-inch LED-backlit capacitive resistive touchscreen. Inside you’ll find a 1.6GHz Atom N270 and 945GSE chipset, up to 2GB of memory and 160GB of disk, 802.11n WiFi, gigabit Ethernet, a pair of front and back-facing cameras, 2600mAh battery, 2x USB, and slots for SDHC/microSDHC, ExpressCard 34 cards, and even DVDs. Unfortunately, it’ll be shipped with XP when it hits retail at the end of this month for ¥59,800 (about $635) — something we expect you’ll rectify on October 22nd. As to whether it’ll support multi-touch under Win7, well, anybody see the appropriate sticker?

Source : Engadget

Canon Selphy ES40 Photo Printer

Canon’s a well known name when it comes to printers, and one of their latest photo printers would be the Selphy ES40. This model comes with a voice-guidance system – pretty much unheard of where printers are concerned, as it works in tandem with a 3.5″ LCD display alongside a scroll wheel to navigate through the myriad of menus. This printer will retail for $149.99 when it is released. End users will find the Selphy ES40 to be pretty useful as it offers more opportunities to personalize their photos with new frames and clip art made available under the Creative Print function.

Source : UberGizmo

Green-House 17-Inch Tablet

Green-House is famous for its LCD display and Digital Picture Frame. Canon has bumped up the internal memory to hit the 64GB mark, which is more than ample storage space to hold up to 24 hours of HD recording with the proper compression. Just in case you feel that this isn’t enough, there is the option to slip in an SDHC memory card. The Canon Vixia HF S11 is tipped to arrive later next month for $1,500, where you can opt for a $120 RA-V1 Remote Control Adapter if that’s your cup of tea.

Source : UberGizmo

Asus Eee Top ET2002T

Asus’ latest Eee Top ET2002T is an all-in-one desktop PC that comes with a 20″ 1,600 x 900 resolution display, while featuring a dual core Atom 330 processor for added punch alongside NVIDIA’s ION graphics chipset that is more than capable of handling all of your living room entertainment with aplomb. Strictly classified as a “thin-and-light,” this three-pound machine measures in at just one-inch thick and ships with a 1.2GHz Celeron 723 processor, a 1,366 x 768 LED-backlit panel, 2GB of DDR2 RAM, a 250GB (5400RPM) SATA hard drive, GS45 integrated graphics, WiFi, a 3-cell battery and nary an optical drive to speak of. There’s also a 1.3 megapixel camera, twin stereo speakers, an Ethernet port, three USB sockets, a 3-in-1 multicard reader and an HDMI output, though we get the feeling Windows Vista won’t be too happy with the hardware. Thankfully, you can drop your $399 now and snag Windows 7 on the cheap here in just a few months.

Source : Engadget

MSI X-Slim X610 Leaked, Reviewed By Russians

If the gang at 3D News are to be believed (and why not?), this familiar looking notebook isn’t MSI’s X-Slim X600 at all, but the not-yet-announced X-Slim X610. And if a leaked ultraportable isn’t enough excitement for you, wait’ll we tell you that they actually got their hands on one of these beauts and gave it the full-on review treatment. As you’d expect from a machine that shares chassis, specs, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330 graphics, a 250GB hard drive, 4GB RAM, and all but one digit of its name with the original, there is not too much to report. The major difference is that the X610 foregoes Intel’s 1.4GHz SU3500 CPU in place of an AMD Athlon MV-40 (1.6GHz), which results in some slower benchmarks, but not enough that you’d readily notice in everyday use. And then there is battery life — the new guy clocks in at slightly less than two hours, or around 20 percent less than the X600. Same machine, same specs, poorer performance — not really a step in the right direction, MSI. Perhaps you can at least give consumers a break on the price?

Source : Engadget

Kanto Syd 5 iPod Speaker

Straight from Japan Kanto’s Syd 5 iPod Speaker packs in 80 watts of power, a bass reflex port, and a frequency response of 45hz to to 20Khz. He did an excellent job with the design, but too bad that he chose a very, very, very bad movie to showcase on the screen (the failure called “The Happening”). This futuristic iPhone will presumably retail for $399 and pack 32GB or 64GB of internal memory, while the MacPad comes with 80GB or 160GB memory and a $599 price tag. The tablet pictured above can be used as a diary to scribble down ideas, writes notes and view media. Also, we have to mention that the device recognizes handwriting and formats it in pages.

Source : The biggest new revelation is that the iPod touch and nano are about to get themselves on-board cameras, revealed by case manufacturers who apparently didn’t get the memo that this stuff is secret.

Nice. In one swoop, iPods suddenly gain a significant additional reason to carry them around all the time. The thing about having a camera or camcorder on a music player that you have with you all the time is that, well, it will turn out to be the most useful camera you own. Why’s that? That’s 22 per cent on the first half against a market that is down to a similar margin overall.” In fact, there are so many Xbox 360s in Europe now, you could probably build a 15 foot wall around Liechtenstein … twice.

Source : JoyStiq

Patriot Launches High End SSDs For Macs

SSDs aren’t usually thought of as platform specific, but Apple has this month been made to feel very special by Patriot. The high performance memory specialist has announced its ‘Koi’ line of SSDs designed especially to work with Apple Macs. The explanation?

“In designing the Koi, we wanted to bring a product to market that was specifically designed for the performance found on Apple platforms”, said Patriot Flash Product Manager Meng Jay. “The Koi Series has been thoroughly tested in Apple’s Development Center to ensure optimal compatibility and stability. We have also backed our Koi Series with one of the best warranties in the industry, 5 years.”

Click Here To Read The Full Article @ TrustedReviews
