Capitals Take # 14 when the beat the Penguins. It was by far one of the best games I have ever seen this season. Ovechkin had a Hat Trick and both Backstrom and Knuble had 10 minute Game Misconduct penalties.

The Caps go for 15 when the play the Canadians on Wed.

The Capitals win their Thirteenth in a row! Even though lots of fans were missing due to the expected 28 inches of snow. The thrashers scored first however the Caps came back and won it 4-2 ( I think it should have been 4-1) because Semin slid into Neuvy and bumped the puck in himself. so.. In my mind it was 4-1. Backstrom didn't show back up on the bench after the second intermission. I will post when i hear about him. Neuvy was GREAT he is 4-0-0 after being pulled in back to back starts He had 43 saves tonight.

High Scoring game between the Rangers and The Caps. The Caps increase their winning streak to 12 wins. There were lots of penalties and lots of power play goals. The Caps Took a lead in the 3rd period with Backstrom having the winning goal.

This was Olli Jokinen's, second game as a Ranger since coming from Calgary.

Washington Goes back Home for tomorrow nights game against Atlanta Thrashers. The thrashers will have a difficult time competing with the Caps Offense mainly because they traded away their star Kovalchuk to The Devils. Capitals go for 13 wins.

Side note on the NJD and ATL trade. I predict that Kovalchuck will really help the devils. He is great at scoring goals. ATL just didn't have other talent to back him up. I think it was smart for both teams. Watch Kovalchuck really get the devils out of the slump they are in, They are 3-6-1 in their last 10

Capitals beat the Boston Bruins to pass the current franchise record set at 10. Capitals just won their 11th game, and Boston just lost their 8th. This is great. The Capitals are absolutely tearing up their conference.

During their 11 wins, the Capitals have outscored opponents 51-22. Theodore and Neuvy have been outstanding recently

The Rangers had a tough month of Jan. Winning 6 out of the 16 games played. They have a current 1 game win streak and are going up against the LA kings tonight. We will see how Gaborik and the Rangers do.

Varly!!

Suposidly, Varly's Knee/Groin injuries are getting better and he is going to be day to day.. Varly has been out for about two months now.The capitals really need to have him primed back up before the playoffs. They will have time for him to rest during the Olympic Break. Lets hope that the young Russian is feeling better by then and is ready for another spectacular ending of a season.

If we can have theo on the top of his game, as well as Neuvy and Varly we will have a good post season.

The Capitals took the lead 2-0 in the second period. However, once in the third period the bolts stepped it up and tied it up.. Ovechkin had the game winning goal! Theodore looked solid in net. Lets hope it stays this way. Also, I haven't heard much about Varly recently. Hope he's doing alright. Capitals tie the longest winning streak in the franchise history (10 wins) set back in 1984. The capitals hope to break the record against the Boston Bruins. The Capitals haven't played the Bruins since the opening of the season. The Capitals won that game 4-1.

Goals: Laich, Backstrom, Ovechkin from the Capitals and St Louis and Stamkos from the bolts.

The Capitals Play Boston Tuesday Night in Boston 7PM EST. Bruins will be trying to end their 7 game Losing streak.
Also, The Caps Sent Neuvirth back down to Hershey because of Waiver Rules, they brought up Holtby.

Last night, the Washington Capitals beat the Florida Panthers 4-1. This is the 9th win in a row for the Caps. One more and they tie the franchise record. The previous record was established back in 1984. Second period, Caps defenseman Mike Green left with a injury after a knee on knee hit with Dmitry Kulikov. Mike Green was expected to return Sunday however this will not be the case. Prior to his injury, Green hit Michael Frolik with a elbow and today was given a 3 game suspension. Green will also lose $81,000 in pay. That money goes to the Players emergency assistance fund Honestly though, I don't think this was worth a 3 game suspension. Frolik was not hurt, and this hit wasn't nearly as bad as the hit as the hit Mike Richards gave to Booth

The capitals take on the Lightning to tie the franchise record Sunday at 3pm at home at the Verizon center. St Louis and the Lightning hope to break the capitals record.

Funny enough the last team to beat the Caps was the Tampa Bay..10 games ago. The series is tied 1-1.
