These are certainly cancers that have been proven to develop from smokeless tobacco use.

Many people are not aware that smokeless tobacco has a more far ranging effect on the human body than those diseases mentioned above. It has been shown that smokeless tobacco can increase greatly the chances of developing bladder cancer. What is frightening is that so many people now using and those who will soon begin to use smokeless tobacco have no idea of the serious effects this substance can bring down upon unsuspecting users.

Carcinogins found in tobacco have been shown to increase the risk of bladder cancer by up to 400% in users vs. those who do not use. Even more frightening this risk factor remains for years even after the user quits tobacco completely. Scary thought, huh?

What educators in the tobacco cessation arena need to be aware of is finding a way to get across the truth that just because smokeless tobacco is smokeless it isn't harmless. Smokeless tobacco doesn't just stay in the oral cavity. It gets swallowed into the stomach and it gets into your esophagus and bladder.

I would like to add an interesting paragraph from a study called: Clinico-pathological features of bladder carcinoma in women in Pakistan and smokeless tobacco as a possible risk factor

."Transitional cell carcinoma is the most common bladder malignancy in women in Pakistan. Most women with bladder carcinoma have long history of use of smokeless tobacco. At the time of diagnosis 75% women have muscle invasive bladder carcinoma. In women using smokeless tobacco, there is significant correlation between stage of bladder carcinoma and duration of smokeless tobacco use. Further studies are required to clarify the role of smokeless tobacco in the development of bladder carcinoma."

Does chewing and dipping cause bladder cancer? We have seen a lot of evidence that points to a correlation of bladder cancer and tobacco use. There remains a lot of research left to do before the final verdict is in. In my humble opinion, the information that I have studied in preparation to write this short, general article has convinced me that the possibility that it does cause bladder cancer far outweighs any scientific information stating that it doesn't.

When it comes right down to it, knowing all of the things that the use of smokeless tobacco certainly does makes the use of it illogical. When we add the fact that there is much sound evidence that smokeless tobacco can affect the body to the degree of producing bladder cancer, it just makes good sense:

1) If you don't chew, dip or smoke - don't.

2) If you do use tobacco in any form - seriously consider finding a good cessation program and quit.
In recent studies, debate is emerging in regards to one theory – that lifestyle choices and the impact of living life a certain way may be related to bladder cancer. A recent study by the Department of Preventive Medicine of Nagoya University School of Medicine indicates that there might, in fact, be a strong and credible link between lifestyle and bladder cancer.

The department studied 258 bladder cancer patients in order to determine if lifestyle choices played a role in allowing medical professionals to prognosticate the possibility that patients might be susceptible to bladder cancer. This was a follow-up study of patients who had suffered from bladder cancer in metropolitan Nagoya, Japan and were recruited for study. Their personal survival information was derived from a database that was maintained by the Nagoya Bladder Cancer Research Group.

After reviewing the tests and their results, researchers were able to pinpoint several key factors that impact the occurrence and re-occurrence of this type of cancer. Univariate analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between 5 year survivorship and the level of education a person possessed, their marital status, drinking habits, and the degree of green tea consumption in males. Additional factors were the age at which the cancer was diagnosed, the histological type and grade of the any tumors, the degree of metastasis, and the state of metastasis in both sexes.

The results were adjusted for age, stage, histology (histological type and grade), and distant metastasis by means of a proportional hazards model. The consumption of alcoholic beverages was also significantly associated with the prognoses of bladder cancer in males. The ratio of adjusted hazard was 0.46 with a 95% confidence interval of 0.26 – 0.79 among males that consumed alcoholic beverages.

Detailed analysis revealed that former drinkers and every level of current drinkers exhibited hazard ratios smaller than unity, although no correlation between dosage amounts was detectable. Other factors, such as smoking habits, uses of artificial sweeteners and hair dye, and consumption of coffee, black tea, matcha (powdered green tea), and cola were detected, leading one to believe that it is reasonable to conclude that drinking any type of beverage, not just alcohol, plays a significant role in the development or re-occurrence of bladder cancer.

The significance of this is vague in terms of prognosis, although that ratio seems to indicate that at least among those who participated in the study and were bladder cancer survivors, drinking alcohol is not a very good idea. Additionally, the study showed that the higher risk factor in regards to bladder cancer and males can be correlated directly to drinking in terms of re-occurrence propensity.

If you are male and have had bladder cancer, along with dietary changes and other lifestyle choices, avoiding alcoholic beverages might increase the possibility of avoiding the sickness in the future.

This, however, is not, and should not be considered conclusive, but merely the very compelling result of one specific study. Also, the indication that other factors, such as smoking, did not seem to increase the risk of re-occurrence, should not be construed as rock solid justification for those behaviors.

For instance, the fact that smoking does not apparently increase the risk bladder cancer does not in any way obviate the fact that smoking has been risked to other diseases or maladies such as heart disease, lung cancer, strokes, or degradation of blood circulation. All of these conditions are just as life-threatening as bladder cancer.

One significant factor seems to be that dosage amounts of alcohol do not seem to correlate with the propensity of re-occurrence. In fact, this study seemed to show that among moderate to heavy drinkers, the re-occurrence rate was unaffected. If one were to take this at face value, one could conclude that any drinking at all increases the chances of bladder cancer coming back.
As a consequence of the above, different forms of treatment become necessary, depending upon different individual circumstances. Apart from the biologic behavior tendencies of cancer of the bladder, another unique characteristic is that the bladder serves the essential function of storage of urine so that if it becomes necessary to sacrifice the bladder by surgery, provision for urinary storage must be made. To date all such provisions are makeshifts.

Furthermore, cancer of the bladder, apart from threatening the patient's health and existence by local extension and distant metastases, is potentially lethal through secondary effect of damaging kidney function by ureteral obstruction with concomitant infection. And finally, not only recurrences of the original tumor, but the occurence of other tumors from oci, represent another undesirable characteristic.

For many years bladder tumors have been classified on the basis of their cystoscopic appearance. There are the multiple, small, benign papillary type of tumor which should be regarded as a Grade I carcinoma, for eventually these tumors may become invasive. Next there is the second type of tumor with a broad base and cauliflower-like appearance which is a malignant papilloma and usually infiltrating. Then there is the third type, an ulcerative lesion, which is quite frequently a squamous cell carcinoma.

Recently it has been suggested that all bladder tumors should be classified, not upon their appearance under the microscope, but rather upon the extent of their invasion through the wall of the bladder:
1.Those growing superficially on the bladder mucosa.
2.those that have become invasive and the invasion has been limited to the tunica propria.
3.those that have invaded into the muscular wall of the bladder.
4.those that have invaded all the way through the wall of the bladder and finally,
5.those with metastatic growth outside the bladder.
It is twice as common in Caucasians as in African-Americans, four times more common in men than women, and is usually diagnosed later in life.

Causes and risk factors The cause of bladder cancer is not known. Smoking is the number one factor associated with bladder cancer. Also linked to bladder cancer are exposure to certain chemicals, such as benzidines, aniline dyes, naphthalenes; radiation exposure; heredity; possibly extremely high consumption of saccharin; a history of schistosomiasis (a tropical disease); chronic urinary tract infections or inflammation; and working in the dye, chemical, rubber, and leather industries.

Signs and symptoms Often symptoms do not appear in the early stages. The first warning sign is usually blood in the urine. Other symptoms can be pain and burning with urination, increased frequency of urination, and difficulty urinating.

Natural Bladder Cancer Treatment Nutritional recommendation Taking vitamin A, vitamin C and E, and a multivitamin and minerals have shown reductions in the risk of getting bladder cancer. Dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) is an FDA-approved, nontoxic solvent that has been shown to aid in treatment. Eating the USDA-recommended number of servings of fruits such as apples, berries, cherries, oranges pears, and tomatoes can reduce the risk by 45percent. Drinking especially pure water, and a lot of liquids, helps to dilute carcinogens and increase urination, lessening the time any carcinogens in the bladder have to do any damage. Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli and kale have been credited with lowering the risk of bladder cancer due to their antioxidant and other cancer fighting compounds.

Another important alternative treatment for bladder cancer is the application of "The One Minute Cure. Madison Cavanaugh, author of the Ebook, The Secret to Healing Virtually All Diseases" has a message of hope, however. She insists that, "Microbes, germs, harmful bacteria and viruses, and all kinds of cancer, do not cause the problem they're only effects of a hidden cause," she states. They do only seek their natural habitat such as an oxygen- deficient body rather than being the cause of the disease. Oxygenated body is uninhabitable by viruses and all kinds of diseases, Madison further states, any viruses and malignant cancer cells can neither survive nor thrive in it. Therefore, the best defense against microbes, germs, harmful bacteria and viruses, and all kinds of cancer cells is to keep the environment of our body oxygenated.
It is four times more common in men than women, twice as common in Caucasians as in African-Americans, and is usually diagnosed later in life.

Detection and diagnosis Bladder cancer can be detected by examining the bladder through a cystoscope, examining cells in the urine, or having intravenous pyelography (IVP, a special kidney x-ray) performed. Sometimes a large tumor can be detected through a rectal or vaginal exam. Researchers are studying a new screening test that detects telomerase, an enzyme produced by bladder tumors.
This means that if you're genetically susceptible to bladder cancer, you must be diligent about testing and early detection. To learn more about the risks of bladder cancer, its causes and its symptoms, keep reading.

Signs Associated With Bladder Cancer

The most common bladder cancer symptoms include bloody urine (should be a deep or brownish red) and painful or frequent urination. Incontinence can also be sometimes associated with the disease.

These symptoms, though almost always present in bladder cancer, are also always present in other urinary and bladder problems like urinary tract infections, prostate issues, prostrate infections, gall stones, cysts and more.

Diagnosing and Detecting Bladder Cancer

The patient at the highest risk for developing bladder cancer is the one with a genetic predisposition for the disease, meaning one or more immediate family members or two or more extended family members have been previously diagnosed with the disease. If a person is at risk, he or she should consult a urologist regularly for cytology, a method used to detect the presence of the malignancy.

There is also the cytoscopy, which is essentially a flexible tube with a small camera that is inserted into the urethra and bladder. Urologists then look for suspicious lesions which, if found, are then removed and biopsied.

Treating Bladder Cancer

The method used to treat bladder cancer will often depend on the stage of the disease and what form it has taken. For example, a superficial tumor may be easily removed in surgery simply by shaving it off. In other cases, immunotherapy is used to treat tumors, while chemotherapy may be used with others.

However, tumors or lesions that are not considered superficial must be removed by removing all or part of the bladder. Some skilled surgeons can even construct a new bladder out of the remaining skin. This is done either in conjunction with or as an alternative to radiation and chemotherapy - often used to finish off any remnants of the cancer.

Are You At Risk for Developing Bladder Cancer?

Though genetic disposition is the most common factor in determining a patient's risk for developing the disease, most urologists agree that environmental factors can play a huge part. For example, holding excessive amounts of toxins and carcinogens in the bladder can become a major cause of bladder cancer.

Born out of concern for these results, recent studies have shown that drinking more than 8 glasses of water in a day can dramatically reduce an individual's risk for developing bladder cancer.

If you are at risk for developing bladder cancer, then you should take action before you see evidence of bladder cancer symptoms. Often, these outward signs are not present until the disease has advanced to a sometimes untreatable stage. So, if you have a strong family medical history that includes multiple instances of this malignancy, you should talk to your doctor and get tested.
Different types of malignant growths may lead to cancer inside one's urinary bladder. It is a stage when abnormal cells multiply inside the bladder. there are different types of bladder cancer that occur in human body but the most common one is that where the growth begins in cells in the internal part of the bladder. The medical term of this disease or disorder is transitional cell carcinoma or urothelial cell carcinoma.

Bladder cancer, though a fatal diseases is curable if detected at an early stage and to detect it fast one needs to be aware of its signs and symptoms. The most common signs of bladder cancer are blood in urine, pain during release of urine, frequent urination, or frequent urge to urinate. However, none of these symptoms are specific to malignant growth inside the urinary bladder. these things also occur in case of non-cancerous disorders like prostate infections and cystisis. Besides, these are also symptoms of kidney cancer.

Tobacco is considered as the biggest encouraging factor for urinary bladder cancer. Excessive tobacco smoking causes more than 50 per cent of the total number of urinary bladder cancer cases in men and also a significant percentage in women. Quiting smoking is a very simple way to stay away from urinary bladder cancer. Researchers have found that men who have the habit of drinking water frequently are safer compared to those who drink less water, as far as possibility of occurrence of urinary bladder cancer is concerned. Presence of higher quantity of water inside the body means more dilute urine which reduces the possibility of bladder cancer. Apart from smoking, there are several occupational risks like working at rubber factory, metal industry, textile industry and printing press that often lead to bladder cancer. Physicians are of the opinion that due to continuous exposure to petroleum-based chemicals and hydrocarbons, auto mechanics are more prone to bladder cancer. Hairdressing is also considered as a risky profession as permanent hair dyes contain chemicals that can encourage this fatal disease.

Like other forms of cancer, biopsy the best way to diagnose bladder cancer. Known as urine cystology, this biopsy is obtained in voided urine and during the washing of bladder (cystoscopy). However, nowadays, several advanced urine bound markers are available for faster diagnosis of urinary bladder cancer, but they are quite expensive compared to ordinary biopsy.

Being a urological disorder, a urologist is the best person to visit in case urinary bladder cancer has been noticed or any of its symptoms have been noticed. The level of treatment of bladder cancer depends on the level of invasion of the tumor into the inner wall of the bladder. Superficial tumors that do not enter the muscle layer can be easily removed by using an electro cautery device. Besides, immunotherapy is often applied to treat and diminish the chance of recurrence of such tumors. Immunotherapy can be effective up to second and third stage of the disease. Beyond that instillation of chemotherapy is the only option for treatment of urinary bladder cancer.

ISN'T THAT AN AMAZING BREAKTHROUGH? A ONE CURE FOR ALL DISEASES INCLUDING CANCER!
From skin disease to lungs, to bladder, ever blood related issues can be cured if followed directly as told.Expensive medication, wonder drugs, surgery, chemotherapy, etc.Countless researches are ongoing towards the discovery of a drug that cures all illnesses. That's John Lennon's Imagine. But at the back of the human mind is the belief that eventually there will be a cure for all diseases. Is there a way to finally cut the interaction with these dreadful health demons? "Imagine a world living life in peace.

THE ORIGIN OF CANCER
Aerobically, these cells are functioning normally in obtaining plenty of oxygen..Let's take a closer look at why numerous doctors, specialists, and other health care enthusiasts who consider this treatment are saying that this is.

COMMUNICABLE & NON-COMMUNICABLE HEALTH THREATS
Added to that, there are other non-communicable diabolic savages which agitate our body's normal functioning. It never chooses, whether you're rich, poor or middle-class, whether you're a girl or a boy, whether you're old or young.

This is a system that is so easy to follow. The body is then able to cure all human ills and in the process, even a one-minute cure for all diseases.John Lennon's vision in his song isn't impossible.

WHAT IS THE ONE-MINUTE CURE?
If the body lacks in oxygen supply, the cells deteriorate and thus possibly becomes cancerous.Sufficient amount of oxygen must be carried directly to the cells and tissues of the body. You will know an amazing, scientifically proven natural therapy that creates a body shield internally where disease cannot thrive-a therapy which does not cure the disease but makes the body cure itself of the disease.Every day activities and stress are causing oxygen depletion. This has been called "World's Greatest Healing Miracle of All Time", and you'll find out why.
Blood in the urine can be obvious red blood or more frequently the urine may appear darker in color, ranging from a slightly rusty color to dark reddish amber resembling tea.

What physician should I see if I am having bladder cancer symptoms?

Depending on how comfortable you are with your family doctor, you can see your them or a urologist (a doctor who specializes in diseases of the urinary tract, including bladder cancer symptoms.

How are bladder cancer symptoms diagnosed?

Generally a physician will check your overall healthiness and one or more of the following procedures:
• An in depth physical exam that includes checking the abdomen and pelvis for bladder tumors or other abnormalities. The doctor may also check for bladder tumors via a vaginal and or rectal examination.
• Generally your doctor will collect a urine sample for urinalysis. The urinalysis will show blood cells (red and/or white), cancer cells, and other signs of disease such as chemical abnormalities that can be present with bladder cancer symptoms.
• A common x-ray utilized to show images of the bladder is the intravenous pyelogram (IVP). Dye is injected into a vein and followed as it collects in the urine and travels through the urinary tract and into the bladder. When the dyed urine reaches the bladder, it will make the bladder show up on x-ray. Bladder tumors will be exposed as well.
• An urologist may perform a minor outpatient surgery called a cystoscopy. A small tube with a light at the tip (cystoscope) is inserted into the bladder by way of the urethra (urinary opening). The doctor is then able to view the bladder from the other end of the tube. A doctor can see any abnormalities such as a bladder tumor. Cystoscopy is also used to stage bladder tumors by collecting a tissue sample and examining it under a microscope (this is called a biopsy). With the use of micro-instruments, small tumors can sometimes be removed allowing diagnosis and treatment at the same time.

How do you tell how severe a bladder tumor is?

Once your doctor had performed the tests necessary to diagnose bladder cancer symptoms as cancerous, they will need to determine how severe your cancer is. The only positive way to confirm bladder cancer symptoms are cancer is with a biopsy. With other tests, a doctor may be reasonably sure, but not positive. One component of a biopsy is the staging (extensiveness) of a bladder tumor. There are five stages of bladder cancer symptoms:
• Stage Zero: The least extensive stage - The cancer cells are only in the surface of the inner lining of the bladder.
• Stage One - Cancer cells are found in the deep inner lining of the bladder but have not invaded the bladder muscle.
• Stage Two - Cancer cells have spread to the bladder muscle.
• Stage Three - Cancer cells have spread to through the bladder muscle to the surrounding tissue. This may include the prostate (in men) and uterus or vagina (in women).
• Stage Four - Cancer cells have spread and invaded the abdomen or pelvic walls. Cancer cells may now be present in the lymph nodes, lungs, and other surrounding organs. This is the most extensive stage.

How are bladder cancer symptoms treated?

Depending on the extent and type of bladder cancer you have will determine what treatment options are available to you. Early detection is the key to successful treatment. Consult your doctor immediately for bladder cancer symptoms if you have them.
To diagnose bladder cancer, the doctor will take a medical history, do a physical examination and request a urine test. He or she may order an x-ray test and perform a cystoscopy (described below) and if needed, a biopsy for bladder cancer. A urine sample is taken and then examined under a microscope for cancerous cells (for bladder cancer).

An x-ray procedure, called an Intravenous pyelogram (IVP), is used to detect any abnormalities or growths in the bladder. For the IVP x-ray, a special dye containing iodine is given to the patient through a needle inserted in the vein. The dye goes in the bladder, making the bladder easier to see on the x-rays.

A Cystoscopy is a procedure using a thin, lighted tube called a cystoscope that is inserted into the bladder through the urethra. If the doctor sees any abnormal areas or growths, he or she will remove some of that tissue (biopsy) for further examination under a microscope.

Treatment of Bladder Cancer in India

There are four main types of treatment for bladder cancer: surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy and biological therapy. The type and staging of the cancer, age, and overall health, determine which treatment method(s) will be used.

Surgery

There are three (3) main types of surgeries for bladder cancer :-

Transurethral resection (TUR) is an operation that uses a cystoscope inserted into the bladder through the urethra. The doctor then uses a tool with a small wire loop on the end to remove the cancer or to burn the tumor away with high-energy electricity.

Cystectomy is an operation to remove the bladder. There are two types of cystectomy - segmental (partial), and radical (complete). Segmental cystectomy is an operation to take out part of the bladder where the cancer is located...

Urinary diversion is an operation to make way for urine to pass out of the body so that it does not go through the bladder.

Radiation therapy in India

Radiation therapy (also called radiotherapy) may be needed when the cancer cannot be removed with TUR because it involves a larger area of the bladder. X-rays destroy the ability of cancer cells to grow and multiply. Internal radiation therapy, with radioactive material placed in the bladder, may be combined with external radiation, which comes from a machine located outside the body...

Biological therapy in India

Often a form of intravesical chemotherapy, biological therapy uses materials made by the body or made in a laboratory to boost, direct or restore the body's natural defenses against the cancer.
Is This for Real?

Cancer is one of our major fears. Why? The reason is many of us who have heard of someone having cancer died a brutal death. However, there are those who survived. You may have heard of someone who was cured medically by doctors. Or you might have heard of miracle cancer survivors who were cured in a natural way - that is often controversial. One of those controversial cancer cure or cancer treatment is the eating of asparagus. This not something new. It has been said that asparagus can cure cancer and has saved many cancer patients. Before we continue, let us give cancer a bit of introduction.

Well, cancer is the out of control abnormal growth of abnormal cells. Our cells normally grow, divide and then die at some time. On the other hand, cancer cells do not follow this pattern. They continue to grow and divide thus creating more abnormal cells. Not only that, these abnormal cancer cells attack other healthy cells which in turn make them cancer cells as well (much like vampires creating other vampires by biting them...). Cancer cells are abnormal because of the stated things above plus the fact that their DNA is damaged. Each of our cells has DNA (the "thing" which defines a cell and our body as a whole combined...) and when damaged to a certain degree becomes cancerous. That is why smoking of cigarettes is bad for us since it can damage our cells' DNA and will cause cancer.

Now to asparagus as a cancer cure. There are reports that different types of cancers have been cured by eating asparagus. According to those reports, some have been cured of cancer of the lymph glands, cancer of the bladder, lung cancer and skin cancer. Those reports only show the claimed results. The "why and how" the cancer was cured stays a mystery. Some even say that the said treatment is a hoax! In any case, eating asparagus and using it as cancer treatment will do more good than harm. It has been said that asparagus contains antioxidants. This is probably one of the primary reasons why it can help in curing cancer.

Whether the asparagus cure or asparagus treatment is effective or not, it gives those with cancer hope and hope is the dearest thing in life when in danger. So if you know someone who has cancer you might want to bring this up to him or her to give them hope and try out something that might cure their sickness.

About the Author
Paul Roxas collates cancer cure and treatment reports to give hope to cancer patients. My beloved Akita of 13 years died of it. Although he had lived a long, happy life, especially for a large breed dog, I wish I had known what I know now. Although I can't go back and change his final six months with us, I can share what I learned with you.

First the facts. The cause of dog bladder cancer is unknown, but it is believed that flea and tick collars and sprays can be a contributing factor, so please get rid of these items if you have them in your house. Typically, female dogs are more prone to cancer than males and certain breeds have a higher incidence of cancer including beagles, fox terriers (Scottish, wirehaired fox and West Highland white varieties) and Shetland sheepdogs. Dogs that have been neutered also have a higher risk.

Left untreated, bladder cancer in dogs can block the urinary tract making it difficult or impossible to expel toxins from the bladder. The cancer can also spread to other parts of the body and is life-threatening. Dogs with a bladder cancer diagnosis can survive for up to a year, but that time is full of misery, suffering and humiliation.

Traditional medical treatment for dog bladder cancer includes surgery to move small tumors, chemotherapy (which is still considered an experimental treatment) and use of anti-inflammatory drugs which does not get rid of the cancer, but in some studies, has shown to slow its growth.

If you do not want your dog to undergo radical treatments which can increase pain and suffering, there are healthy options. These are especially important for older dogs who will not be able to tolerate chemotherapy, harsh drugs and may not survive the trauma caused by surgery.

The best natural treatment for dogs is simple and easy. First, feed your dog healthy, organic food (that has no chemicals, cheap grains, byproducts or preservatives.) Junk food kibble alters the pH of the bladder, making it hospitable to bacteria and disease. Healthy, organic food that is comprised mostly of good quality protein will give your dog the nutrients needed for healing.

Second, make sure your dog gets plenty of fresh water. Water is vital to keeping the body hydrated and flushing toxins from the bladder. Rather than give your dog tap water, buy a water filter to remove the chemicals that alter the pH which is a component for preventing bladder cancer in dogs.

Third, it goes without saying that love and attention is healing. Spend time with your dog. Talk to him. Take him on walks and adventures. Run and play with him. Exercise is healing: it relieves stress, bonds participants, removes toxins from the lymph system and increases a sense of satisfaction in life.

In addition to diet, love and attention and exercise, give your dog a daily natural remedy that contains antioxidants which build immunity and fight cancer. This supplement should contain a full spectrum of vitamins and minerals. Perhaps most important, it should contain herbs like Milk Thistle and Mistletoe which are strong antioxidants that make for a natural, gentle and effective treatment for bladder cancer in dogs. These two herbs also help rid the body of toxins.

Since your dog depends on you to make the best healthcare choices, it is up to you to find a method to treat dog bladder cancer that is gentle, yet effective and that does not worsen your dog's suffering. Think about it: if you choose to give your dog chemo, there is no way for you to tell your dog that even though his suffering is going to be worse, in the long wrong, he might get better. Of course, he also might get worse, since chemo is a poison that often kills the patient. Although this may seem harsh, this is something you must consider.

Dogs don't understand the point of radical treatments. They only know what they feel in the moment. Make your dogs moments as happy, comfortable and pain-free as possible by choosing to take the natural route. As your dog gets better, continue to follow the steps above and give your dog a daily supplement in order to build a strong immunity needed for a long, healthy and happy life.

About the Author
Laura Ramirez is a passionate researcher of products that help restore health and vitality to pets and people and keep their immune system strong for prevention of cancer and other diseases. You could be at risk of developing harmful health effects, including some forms of cancer, as a result of this substance.

Chlorine is a material that is used as a purification material for water. It is also used as a disinfectant. This has been found in water supplies in many places around the country over the years. In fact it is one of the most commonly occurring drugs among the more than two thousand drugs that can be found in water.

Water is not necessarily created but it is rather reused. When water needs to be used for a new purpose, it will be handled through the use of chlorine and other drugs to help and try to get certain materials out of the water. This can make the water harmful to drink.

Chlorine has been used in water as a means of removing various types of pathogens that can get into it and promote various diseases. This material has also been used for bleaching water. The problem with this material is that chlorine can actually cause cancer in some people.

If you swallow chlorine in its liquid form, you will be at an increased risk of developing one of various forms of cancer. The most common forms that can be developed are bladder cancer and rectal cancer. Some people can even develop breast cancer as a result of consuming high amounts of this material. Your skin can also become irritated when your skin comes into contact with water that contains chlorine.

As the twentieth century progressed, chlorine became more common in the water that we use everyday alongside other drugs that can be found. One out of every three people in this country is at risk of developing some form of cancer. This is different from the early part of the twentieth century when one out of every fifty people developed cancer. The water people use on a daily basis can be a major factor.

Many major cities in the United States have chlorine and other dangerous drugs in their water supplies. In 1998 the Environmental Working Group stated in a report that chlorine and a number of various other chemicals and drugs, including pesticides, were found in the water supplies of more than twenty major American cities.

An important reason for this deals with how over time the water that you consume on a daily basis can be contaminated with chlorine and various other drugs found in drinking water. Everything that gets into your lawn, your drain or even the bodies of water that you get your water out of will be impacted by these drugs that will make their way into the water.

The risk that you have of consuming chlorine in drinking water makes getting a water filter for your home a very important thing to do. You should definitely look into getting one for your home, not only to help with keeping your water protected, but also for the sake of your health.

Visit my website today in order to learn more about the different varieties of some of the most effective water filtration systems.

About the Author
Donald Spencer is a dedicated researcher of the different types of water filters and a passionate advocate of healthy lifestyle. In the 3rd trimester of pregnancy, most women complain of back pains. Cases, such as these, affect productivity greatly causing industries to lose billions of dollars while the government spent more than $15 billion annually for medical care and disability fees. Considered as a health problem, back pains take the 3rd rank with heart disorder as 1st and cancer as 2nd. Your legs feel weak, your groin area feels numb and your bowel and bladder become uncontrollable. Cancer of the spine. Back pains are caused by problems created in any of these parts.

TYPES OF BACK PAINS

The menstrual cycle brings along muscular back pains. You will experience continuous pain and stiffness anywhere from neck to hips. A stressful job, anxiety and depression belong to the chronic pain territory. When you feel pain every time you cough or bend from the waist, you have herniated disk.

TESTS AND DIAGNOSTICS

A physician will tap your knee with a wooden hammer to examine your reflexes. If he suspects tumor, fraction, infection or other disorders, he will order a complete examination and testings, to include: physical examination, blood tests, Mantorix tests, urine test, X-ray, magnetic resonance imagery (MRI), a computerized tomography (CT) scan, bone scan and nerve studies (electromyography or EMG). If you are standing for long periods, have a small stool available where you can rest one foot from time to time.

MIRACLE BACK PAIN CURE

Activate your joints freely by doing a lot of stretching, just endure the pain and soon you will experience relief. Listen to your muscles since this is the core of the ache. If pain is decreased, you do not need to consult a doctor. You need medication, homeopathy, herbs and supplements.

HOME REMEDIES TO CURE BACK PAINS

A muscle relaxant such as diazepam, prescribed by a doctor, will cause drowsiness and gives you time to relax completely. Muscles that are strained from excessive physical activities or become spasmodic will usually heal after some time. Here are useful measures.. Acute back pain occurs suddenly and might last for 3 months and chronic back pain, which develops gradually and may last for more than 12 weeks. This type can be relieved by over the counter (OTC) painkillers such as paracetamol; and if a stronger one is needed, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) such as ibuprofen or naproxen.

COMPLEMENTARY AND ALTERNATIVE THERAPIES

Transcutaneous electric nerve stimulus (TENS) TEN delivers electrical impulses in the body by means of electrodes placed on the skin. This therapy may require several sessions. Aside from improving your physical fitness; it is also an effective therapy in reducing back pain which will last for several months. Laboratory studies showed that the shoe insole can be a help in preventing and treating back pains.

EXERCISE TECHNIQUE

Repeat for 3 more minutes. You may discover that one of these techniques is more beneficial and effective for you; then you can continue using it to relieve your pain. Stand with feet together. Technique 1. With your heels firmly on the ground, bend your knees and hold on until the count of 10. Assume this position for a while, holding your breathe.

___________________________________________________________

Learn how to get back pain relief http://8b73774l70o30wd0b3ubnhtwgx.hop.clickbank.net/

About the Author
I have been writing for over 30 years. The bladder can actually expand manytimes its size with the incoming urine. The muscularity of the tissue is rendered by the three layers of cells that are found in the bladder covering. These specialized bladder cells are called transitional epithelium. The layers are the ones that prevent the absorption of urine back into the body fluids. The bladder cells when affected by the cancerous growth is called bladder cancer. The cancer arising in the bladder cells can be seen as in different stages of development according to the layers of the cells that are affected.

The bladder cancer is affecting almost millions of persons every year. The bladder cancer is of many types, may be transitional cell carcinoma, adenocarcinoma, lymphoma or squamous cell carcinoma. These types of carcinomic cancers are the most generally occurring types in bladder cancer. The bladder cancer also is characterised by many symptoms that can be considerably easily identified and the bladder cancer like all other cancers is best treated when done at an early stage of teh infection. There may also be the other symptoms associated with abnormalities occurring in other organs due to the metastasis of the cancerous cells in the bladder. This stage of the cancer is most developed one and requires more treatment techniques to ensure effective cure. But when treated initially the cancer can be completely and wholly removed, though not guaranteed it ll not recurr. The main aspect of metastasis is that the nearby organs are affected and when left untreated the whole organs of the body like liver, lungs, kidney are badly affected.

The symptoms are the ones that we need to be aware of to keep the bladder cancer at bay. The symptoms of the bladder cancer can be more definitive than with other types of cancer because of the fact that the abnormalities with the bladder affects the whole urinary system and thus leads to a change in the behaviour of entire process. The bladder is the store house of urine and when it gets disoriented then there occurs many impacts like frequent urination, blood along with urine... etc.

The treatment methods for bladder cancer are of many types and the doctor will prescribe you the appropriate treatment for you based upon the ohysical state of you body. The most effective treatment is mostly the most suited one for you. But as seen with all types of cancer the best treatment is always got when it is done at an early stage. The bladder especially is of vital importance the fatality rate is also high when bladder cancer is concerned. It is always best to take the preventive policy rather than treatment because there is always a chance of affecting vital oprgans like kidney when abnormal bladder is concerned, because all the organs surrouding bladder are responsible for vital function of urination.

About the Author
Buy Designer Sunglasses at http://www.spectglasses.com , A venture from Status Eye Care, Opticians in Mumbai. A secondary aim was to compare a conventional plan with a theoretical online process where positioning is based on soft tissue position on a daily basis and treatment plan choice is based on bladder size. A conventional treatment plan was derived from a planning CT scan in the radical radiotherapy of five patients with muscle invasive bladder cancer. In this offline adaptive protocol using CBCT, the patients had 10 CBCT: daily CBCT for the first five fractions and then CBCT scan on a weekly basis. The first five daily CBCT in each patient were used to create a single adaptive plan for treatment from fraction eight onwards. A different process using the planning CT and the first five daily CBCT was used to create small, average and large bladder volumes, giving rise to small, average and large adaptive bladder treatment plans, respectively. In a retrospective analysis using the CBCT scans, we compared the clinical target volume (CTV) coverage using three protocols: (i) conventional; (ii) offline adaptive; and (iii) online adaptive with choice of 'plan of the day'. Daily CBCT prolonged treatment time by an average of 7 min. Two of the five patients demonstrated such variation in CTV that an offline adaptive plan was used for treatment after the first five CBCT. Comparing the offline adaptive plan with the conventional plan, the CTV coverage improved from a minimum of 60.1 to 94.7% in subsequent weekly CBCT. Using the CBCT data, modelling an online adaptive protocol showed that coverage of the CTV by the 95% prescribed dose line by small, medium and large adaptive plans were 34.9, 67.4 and 90.7% of occasions, respectively. More normal tissue was irradiated using a conventional CTV to planning target volume margin (1.5 cm) compared to an online adaptive process (0.5 cm). An offline adaptive strategy improves dose coverage in certain patients to the CTV and results in a higher conformity index compared to conventional planning. Further research in online adaptive radiation therapy for bladder cancer is indicated.
More Information at : Skin Cancer

About the Author
Start by going to Kinds Of Bladder Cancer and for more information and alternatives on this subject try Cancer Network. I am an ex-smoker, but quit the habit years ago. Last week I was diagnosed with early stage bladder cancer. Is it true that my smoking could have caused this? How serious is bladder cancer? What are the latest treatment options?

Answer: The good news is that bladder cancer is highly treatable when diagnosed at an early stage. Unfortunately, bladder cancer is often a repeat offender - even early-stage bladder cancer is likely to recur. For this reason, your doctor will probably schedule multiple follow-up exams even after you have had treatment.

Your bladder is a muscular, hollow organ that stores urine, which is the liquid waste filtered from your blood by your kidneys. Urine is eliminated from the body through a narrow tube called the urethra.

The bladder wall itself has multiple tissue layers. Most bladder cancers have their start in the bladder's inner lining (urothelial cells). From there, depending on the type of tumor, and the cancer's aggressiveness (grade), it may grow farther into the bladder's outer layers. Cancer in the bladder's urothelial cells is generally classified (staged) by how far it has grown into bladder tissue layers.

You mention that you have early-stage bladder cancer, which is called non-muscle invasive (superficial) cancer. This means that only the innermost surface layers of bladder tissue have tumor cells. Because the cancer hasn't extended into the muscle, successful treatment is likely.

If the tumor had invaded your bladder's muscle wall layer, it would be considered muscle invasive cancer. Even more serious, metastatic cancer, is when bladder cancer has spread beyond the outside wall of the bladder and invaded other parts of the body, such as the lymph nodes.

In the early stages of bladder cancer, it's not unusual to have no signs or symptoms. However, some patients do see blood in their urine. Other possible signs and symptoms of bladder cancer may include pain with urination, a change in bladder habits (such as increased frequency or an inability to urinate despite the urge to do so), abdominal pain and back pain.

While it's impossible to say for sure what caused your cancer, we do know that smoking is a major risk factor when it comes to bladder cancer. Compared with nonsmokers, smokers and former smokers are two to three times more likely to develop bladder cancer. That's because the body processes chemicals found in tobacco smoke and then excretes some of them in urine. The presence of these chemicals in urine may damage the bladder's lining.

Those at greatest risk of bladder cancer generally are adults over age 60. Exposure to certain chemicals also is linked to bladder cancer. These include arsenic and chemicals used in the manufacturing of dyes, rubber, textiles and leather and paint products. In addition, the use of certain anti-cancer drugs - notably high doses of cyclophosphamide (Cytoxan) - can increase bladder cancer risk, as does radiation treatment of cancers in the vicinity of the bladder.

As with other cancers, treatment options for bladder cancer are determined by the type of cancer and how far the cancer has progressed.

Because you have early-stage bladder cancer, your doctor may recommend transurethral resection of bladder tumor, or TURBT. During this procedure, a small wire loop is passed through the urethra to the bladder. The loop burns away cancer cells with an electric current.

In some special situations, it may be best to remove just the portion of your bladder (partial cystectomy) where the tumor is located by way of an open or laparoscopic surgical procedure. This procedure is done if your cancer is limited to one area of the bladder that can easily be removed without harming bladder function.

When cancer has invaded deeper layers of the bladder wall, removal of the entire bladder and other nearby tissues is commonly performed. After bladder removal, a new urinary tract is constructed by your surgeon.

Additional therapies for non-muscle invasive bladder cancer may include immunotherapy, which activates your body's own immune cells to help fight cancer cells. Chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy can also be incorporated in the overall treatment of bladder cancer.

Fortunately for you, one of the keys to successful treatment of bladder cancer is early detection. However, you will need regular and lifetime follow-ups with your doctor. Recurrence remains an ongoing concern once you've been treated for bladder cancer.

About the Author
For More information About Joe Harry Please Visit Bladder Cancer Blog

Moreover it also relaxes muscles in the prostate and bladder neck to improve urination in men suffering from benign prostatic hyperplasia or enlarged prostate. This enlarged prostate is a walnut sized gland surrounding urethra and it mostly affects men over the age of 50. In order to rule out serious problems such as prostate cancer it is important to immediately seek the advice of the physician as soon as its symptoms are noticed. Some of the common symptoms associated with this problem are weak urine system, urine urgency, leaking or dribbling and more frequent urination. Patients suffering from either of this problem can buy Flomax after discussing it with their physician and have its benefits and effects. Flomax is the brand name for tamsulosin and is used in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) that mostly affects men over the age of 50 years.

Vital facts about Flomax

It is important to know vital information related to Flomax so that one can take the necessary precaution before buying and taking Flomax. Moreover this will also help in taking the medication in the right manner. It is important to know that Flomax can cause side effects that might impair thinking or reacting ability. One may feel dizzy on getting up from a lying or sitting position while taking Flomax. Flomax should also be avoided by patients who are allergic to tamsulosin, or are taking other alpha adrenergic blockers like alfusozin, doxazosin, prazosin, or terazosin. If one has to undergo cataract surgery then he should inform his doctor about his taking of Flomax.

Flomax Dosage Instructions

Flomax should be taken exactly as prescribed by the doctor as taking Flomax for longer or shorter duration can change the effect of Flomax. Available in the form of capsule of 0.4mg it is usually recommended as one capsule once a day. It should be taken with a meal, infact at the same time each day to have its best effect. Flomax capsule should be swallowed whole and it should not be crushed or chewed and each dose should be taken with a glass full of water. While taking this medication one should be regularly in touch with the doctor in order to know the effect of Flomax on the body. If for any reason the intake of Flomax is stopped for few days then one should re start Flomax only after discussing it with the doctor. Flomax should always be stored at room temperature and kept away from moisture and heat.

Avail Flomax at the Click of the Button

Today buying Flomax or any other medication is not a tough task where one has to wait in queue to buy drugs. Infact with the online availability of all the popular drugs, buying drugs has become quite convenient and easy. Now from the comfort of one home, one can buy Flomax online by just clicking on few buttons and the drug is delivered at their home within 24 to 48 hours depending on the distance it has to be covered.

About the Author
Buy Flomax from CanadaDrugPharmacy.com which is the most trusted and fastest growing online Canadian pharmacy service and also Buy Flomax online from here at the cheapest prices.

For many conservatives, a bill must exclude such a public plan. For others, the crucial issue is how much money Congress spends covering the uninsured.

My litmus test is different. It's the prostate cancer test.

The prostate cancer test will determine whether President Obama and Congress put together a bill that begins to fix the fundamental problem with our medical system: the combination of soaring costs and mediocre results. If they don't, the medical system will remain deeply troubled, no matter what other improvements they make.

The legislative process is still in the early stages, and Washington is likely to squeeze some costs out of the medical system. But the signals coming from Capitol Hill are still worrisome, because Congress has not seemed willing to change the basic economics of health care.

So let's talk about prostate cancer. Right now, men with the most common form - slow-growing, early-stage prostate cancer - can choose from at least five different courses of treatment. The simplest is known as watchful waiting, which means doing nothing unless later tests show the cancer is worsening. More aggressive options include removing the prostate gland or receiving one of several forms of radiation. The latest treatment - proton radiation therapy - involves a proton accelerator that can be as big as a football field.

Some doctors swear by one treatment, others by another. But no one really knows which is best. Rigorous research has been scant. Above all, no serious study has found that the high-technology treatments do better at keeping men healthy and alive. Most die of something else before prostate cancer becomes a problem.

"No therapy has been shown superior to another," an analysis by the RAND Corporation found. Dr. Michael Rawlins, the chairman of a British medical research institute, told me, "We're not sure how good any of these treatments are." When I asked Dr. Daniella Perlroth of Stanford University, who has studied the data, what she would recommend to a family member, she paused. Then she said, "Watchful waiting."

But if the treatments have roughly similar benefits, they have very different prices. Watchful waiting costs just a few thousand dollars, in follow-up doctor visits and tests. Surgery to remove the prostate gland costs about $23,000. A targeted form of radiation, known as I.M.R.T., runs $50,000. Proton radiation therapy often exceeds $100,000.

And in our current fee-for-service medical system - in which doctors and hospitals are paid for how much care they provide, rather than how well they care for their patients - you can probably guess which treatments are becoming more popular: the ones that cost a lot of money.

Use of I.M.R.T. rose tenfold from 2002 to 2006, according to unpublished RAND data. A new proton treatment center will open Wednesday in Oklahoma City, and others are being planned in Chicago, South Florida and elsewhere. The country is paying at least several billion more dollars for prostate treatment than is medically justified - and the bill is rising rapidly.

You may never see this bill, but you're paying it. It has raised your health insurance premiums and left your employer with less money to give you a decent raise. The cost of prostate cancer care is one small reason that some companies have stopped offering health insurance. It is also one reason that medical costs are on a pace to make the federal government insolvent.

These costs are the single most important thing to keep in mind during the health care debate. Making sure that everyone has insurance, important as that is, will not solve the cost problem. Neither will a new public insurance plan. We already have a big public plan, Medicare, and it has not altered the economics of prostate care.

*

The first step to passing the prostate cancer test is laying the groundwork to figure out what actually works. Incredibly, the only recent randomized trial comparing treatments is a 2005 study from Sweden. (It suggested that removing the prostate might benefit men under 65, which is consistent with the sensible notion that younger men are better candidates for some aggressive treatments.)

"There is no reason in the world we have to be this uncertain about the relative risks and benefits," says Dr. Sean Tunis, a former chief medical officer of Medicare.

Drug and device makers have no reason to finance such trials, because insurers now pay for expensive treatments even if they aren't more effective. So the job has to fall to the government - which, after all, is the country's largest health insurer.

Obama administration officials understand this, and the stimulus bill included money for such research. But stimulus is temporary. The current House version of the health bill does not provide enough long-term financing.

The next step involves giving more solid information to patients. A fascinating series of pilot programs, including for prostate cancer, has shown that when patients have clinical information about treatments, they often choose a less invasive one. Some come to see that the risks and side effects of more invasive care are not worth the small - or nonexistent - benefits. "We want the thing that makes us better," says Dr. Peter B. Bach, a pulmonary specialist at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, "not the thing that is niftier."

The current Senate bill would encourage doctors to give patients more information. But that won't be nearly enough to begin solving the cost problem.

To do that, health care reform will have to start to change the incentives in the medical system. We'll have to start paying for quality, not volume.

On this score, health care economists tell me that they are troubled by Congress's early work. They are hoping that the Senate Finance Committee will soon release a bill that does better. But as Ron Wyden, an Oregon Democrat on the committee, says, "There has not been adequate attention to changing the incentives that drive behavior." One big reason is that the health care industry is lobbying hard for the status quo.

Plenty of good alternatives exist. Hospitals can be financially punished for making costly errors. Consumers can be given more choice of insurers, creating an incentive for them to sign up for a plan that doesn't cover wasteful care. Doctors can be paid a set fee for some conditions, adequate to cover the least expensive most effective treatment. (This is similar to what happens in other countries, where doctors are on salary rather than paid piecemeal - and medical care is much less expensive.)

Even if Congress did all this, we would still face tough decisions. Imagine if further prostate research showed that a $50,000 dose of targeted radiation did not extend life but did bring fewer side effects, like diarrhea, than other forms of radiation. Should Medicare spend billions to pay for targeted radiation? Or should it help prostate patients manage their diarrhea and then spend the billions on other kinds of care?

The answer isn't obvious. But this much is: The current health care system is hard-wired to be bloated and inefficient. Doesn't that seem like a problem that a once-in-a-generation effort to reform health care should address?

About the Author
Joe Harry has a Bladder Cancer blog, this is : http://info.bladder-cancer-lung.co.cc/

Bladder and planning target volumes (bladder/PTV) from CBCT and planning CT scans were compared with respect to bladder center-of-mass shifts in the x (lateral), y (anterior-posterior), and z (superior-inferior) coordinates, bladder/PTV size, bladder/PTV margin positions, overlapping areas, and mutually exclusive regions.

A total of 262 CBCT images were obtained from 10 bladder cancer patients. Bladder center of mass shifted most in the y coordinate (mean, -0.32 cm). The anterior bladder wall shifted the most (mean, -0.58 cm). Mean ratios of CBCT-derived bladder and PTV volumes to planning CT-derived counterparts were 0.83 and 0.88. The mean CBCT-derived bladder volume (+/- standard deviation [SD]) outside the planning CT counterpart was 29.24 cm(3) (SD, 29.71 cm(3)). The mean planning CT-derived bladder volume outside the CBCT counterpart was 47.74 cm(3) (SD, 21.64 cm(3)). The mean CBCT PTV outside the planning CT-derived PTV was 47.35 cm(3) (SD, 36.51 cm(3)). The mean planning CT-derived PTV outside the CBCT-derived PTV was 93.16 cm(3) (SD, 50.21). The mean CBCT-derived bladder volume outside the planning PTV was 2.41 cm(3) (SD, 3.97 cm(3)). CBCT bladder/ PTV volumes significantly differed from planning CT counterparts (p = 0.047).

Significant variations in bladder and PTV volume and position occurred in patients in this trial.

About the Author
Joe Harry is Author of Bladder cancer Site.

Then came radiation and hormone therapy because my cancer was more aggressive than expected - Gleason 9, Stage T3B - and had breached the prostate.

In a culture where the micro-second has become a viable unit of time, one year seems to be an eternity nowadays. We are addicted to the idea of instant closure, have knuckled under to the myth that media time is real time. But biological time, that unerring clock whirring at the cellular level, still has plenty to teach us.

My body, that once-sturdy vessel, sustained a lot of damage in the past year to be rid of its cancer. Incontinence and impotence, deep fatigue and weight gain were among my most constant physical companions.

As spring blossomed, though, so did my spirits. My energy surged, I started running again and even talked about doing a marathon this fall. But in my vernal cheer I forgot one of the most important realities of recovering from serious illness. Complete recovery rarely arrives as a wide and smooth ascent. More often it's a pinched and bumpy road full of ups and downs, with no shortage of switchbacks and dead ends - even one year later.

Most noticeably, in the last month, my energy level has plummeted. (Don't worry, my doctors are on the case.) Typically, my energy falls off the table by mid-afternoon, then dwindles from there, kind of like how the Wicked Witch of the West fizzes and shrivels at the end of "The Wizard of Oz." Sometimes I need a nap right after work. On weekends, I sometimes need a nap at noon, then another at five, leading me to wonder whether I'm turning into a cat.

Even though I haven't received any treatment since February - and there's a good chance I might be cancer-free - I understand that I'm still a cancer patient. I try to embrace the "patience" part of being a patient.

But physical fluctuation brings with it mental frustration. I just want my body and the treatment for my cancer to kiss and make up, already. I'm not complaining, but trying to explain how I feel in this particular ongoing biology experiment of one. These issues aren't about vanity - well, maybe a little - but about wholeness.

As far as the fatigue, one of the culprits could be low testosterone. In April my testosterone level was 364, within the normal range of 241 to 827. But late last month it had tumbled to 202, prompting me to come up with a new medical rule of thumb: It's not good when your testosterone is lower than your weight.

The fatigue also didn't help my running. Neither did the hamstring pull.

My runs were going well. I was pleased to have progressed from baby-stepping to shuffling to walking to running since last July. Six miles felt comfortable, and the goal of a fall marathon seemed reasonable. Now it seems unlikely. The hamstring injury has been stubborn, and with my energy AWOL I'm back to taking long walks.

And walking does put less stress on my bladder than running does. My bladder control keeps improving, and I'm still man-pad free. But if I stand for a long time, or if I bend in an odd way ... well, let's just say that I needed to modify the position in which I clip my toenails.

I probably shouldn't be, but I guess I'm surprised and disappointed that erectile function is still a work in progress. My penis is simply a mutt that doesn't come running when it's called, even when it's given a little blue Viagra treat. In addition, when your testosterone level is nomadic, your libido seesaws, too. And when your sex drive is hibernating or absorbed in rereading "The Lord of the Rings" for the sixth time, the idea of the actual sexual act sometimes seems faintly silly.

Despite my current trough, there's good news, too. My weight has dropped from a hormone-induced high of 226 to 209, and my PSA, the number that signals whether my cancer is gone, is still less than 0.1.

I'll fully admit, though, that before my surgery last summer, I didn't expect that I would feel physically diminished one year later. Even so, I still suffer from chronic optimism. But today it's also tempered by cancer-induced realism.

About the Author
More Information at his Bladder cancer site.

Now science has backed up what folks have long known to be true: its now been shown that an enriched extract of the Somalian Frankincense herb Boswellia Carteri can actually kill off bladder cancer cells.

First, a few stats on bladder cancer. It is twice as common in males as it is in females and in the US, bladder cancer is the fourth most common type of cancer in men. A team from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center along with the Oklahoma City VA Medical Center, recently evaluated frankincense oil for its anti-tumor activity in bladder cancer cells by investigating the effects of the oil in two different types of cells human bladder cancer cells and normal bladder cells. They found that frankincense oil is able to discriminate between normal and cancerous bladder cells in culture, and specifically kill cancer cells. Best of all, the scientists feel that Frankincense oil may be an inexpensive alternative therapy for patients currently suffering from bladder cancer, which may come as a great relief to those footing expensive chemo and radiation bills, not to mention the side effects.

Other bonuses of this ancient oil: it has long been known to soothe and calm the mind, slow down and deepen breathing and it has also used for meditation. It is said that it can help calm anxiety and obsessive states linked to the past and it also clears the lungs and helps with shortness of breath, asthma, bronchitis, laryngitis, coughs and colds. Ladies, you in particular should remember Frankincense which can even be useful to ease heavy periods, as a general tonic to the uterus and it has a calming effect during labor. The can also help rejuvenate an ageing skin and is effective with sores, carbuncles, wounds, scars and skin inflammation. It surrounds the neck of bladder & the first part of urethra and condributes a secretion to the semen. The gland is conical in shape and measures 3 cm in vertical diameter and 4 cm in transverse diameter. It has got five lobes anterior, posterior, two lateral and a median lobe.Since the first part of the urethra pass through it any lesion in the prostate will produce difficulty in passing urine.

Diseases of the prostate gland:-

1) Prostatitis:-

This is the inflamation of the prostate gland due to bacterial infection.

2) Benign enlargement of the prostate:-

This is a non cancerous tumour of the prostate seen after the age of 50. 3,Cancer of the prostate:-This is the 4th most common cause of death from malignant diseases in males.

Cancer of the prostate.

Cancer of the prostate is directly linked with the male sex hormones(androgens). If the levels of sex hormone increases the growth rate of cancer also increases. It is found that after the removel of testes there is marked reduction in the size of tumour.

Site of tumour:-

Prostate cancer is seen mainly in the posterior lobe.Non cancerous enlargement is seen in other lobes.

Changes in the gland in cancer:-

The gland becomes hard with irregular surface with loss of normal lobulation .Histologically prostate cancer is an adeno carcinoma(cancer of the epithelial cells in the gland)

Growth :-

Growth rate is very fast in prostate cancer .The tumour compresses the urethra and produce difficulty in urination.

Spread of tumour:-

Metastasis in cancer of prostate is very early.

1) Local spread:-

From the posterior lobe the cancer cells go to the lateral lobes and seminal vesicles.Tumour cells also move to the neck and base of the urinary bladder.

2) Lymphatic spread:-

Through the lymph vessels cancer cells reach the internal and external illiac group of lymph nodes. From there cells move to retroperitonial(Behind the peritonium) and mediastinal lymph nodes(in the chest)

3) Spread through the blood:-

Spread of cancer cells takeplace through the periprostatic venous plexus and reaches the vertebral veins while coughing and sneezing and finally enders the vertebral bodies of the lumbar vertebrae.

Signs and symptoms of prostate cancer:--

Signs and symptoms depend upon the stage of the cancer. The following symptoms may be seen.

1) No symptoms:-

Tumour is small and only in the posterior lobe. This is diagnosed accidentely.

2) Slight difficulty in urination:-

Here the tumour is enlarged and urethra is slightly compressed.Shortly there will be frequent urge for urination with difficult urination.

3) When the tumour spread to all nearby areas including neck of bladder and urethra there will be painful urination with bleeding.Urine comes drop by drop.

4) Retention of urine:-

When the urethra is completely compressed there will be retention of urine. This can lead to hydronephrosis, renal failure ect.In this condition patient may get convulsions due to renal failure and finally coma.

5) Signs of metastasis:-

Some patients come with the signs and symptoms of metastasis.

a) Lumbo sacral pain due to spread of cancer cells to lumbar and sacral vertebrae.

b) Fracture of spine due to cancerous growth in the spine.

c) Swelling, pain and fluid collection in the abdomen due to lesion in the abdomen.

d) Respiratory complaints due to cancer of mediastinal lymphnodes and lungs.

e) General weakness due to spread of cancer to different parts of the body.

f) Anaemia due to involment of bone marrow and increased destruction of RBCs.

Clinical examination :-

Includes per rectal examination to feel the prostate gland, palpation of abdomen to feel the swelling in kidneys and any tumours.Patient is examined from head to foot to find out any lesions.

Investigations:-

1) Complete blood investigations;-

RBC,WBC,Platlets,ESR,bleeding time ,clotting time ect.

2) Urine analysis:-

Microscopic examination to detect pus cells, occult blood, casts,Crystals ect.

3) Renal function tests:-

Blood urea level, serum creatinine level, electrolyte level ect.

4) Serum acid phosphatase:-

Increased in cancer of prostate.

5) x-ray of the spine:-

To detect any tumour or fracture.

6) Ultra sonography;-

Gives idea about prostate,bladder,kidney ect.

7) C T scan:-

More detailed information about organs and tumour.

8) MRI of the spine:-

Gives detailed information about spine ,disc and nearby soft tissues.

9) Lymphangiography:-

Gives idea about lymphatic spread of cancer.

10) Biopsy to confirm cancer:-

Biopsy is taken from the tumour and is send for histopathological examination under the microscope. This will detect the presence of cancer cells.

Treatment:-

1) If there is retention of urine catheterisation is needed. 2) Dialysis if kidney failure. 3) If there is coma monitoring of all vital functions along with parentral nutrition and electolyte supply. 4) Specific treatment is prostatectomy(removal of prostate)

Partial prostatectomy :-

Here only the affected lobe is removed.

Radical prostatectomy :-

Total removal of prostate along with nearby lymphnodes.

5, Hormone therapy :-

Stilbestrol is given to reduce tumour growth.Since this treatement increases the chance for cardiovascular disease phosphorylated diethyle stilbesterol is used nowadays.

6) Chemotherapy:-Drugs like cyclophosphamide, cisoplatim ect are given.

7) Radiotherapy is also done for some cases.

8) Homoeopathy:-

Homoeopathic drugs like carcinocin, conium, sabal, crotalus, thuja, iodum, selinium, staphysagria, sulphur ect can be given according to symptoms.Constitutional homoeopathic medicine will give great relief and can increase the life span.

9) Yoga and meditation is also healpful.

About the Author
Mike Handy is Dragon Meditation practitioner and Trainer almost 18 Years.
