The Fabian Society is a British intellectual socialist movement, whose purpose is to advance the principles of social democracy via gradualist and reformist, rather than revolutionary means. It is best known for its initial ground-breaking work beginning late in the 19th century and continuing up to World War I. The society laid many of the foundations of the Labour Party and subsequently affected the policies of states emerging from the decolonisation of the British Empire, especially India. Today, the society is a vanguard "think tank" of the New Labour movement. It is one of 15 socialist societies affiliated to the Labour Party. Similar societies exist in Australia (the Australian Fabian Society), Canada (the Douglas-Coldwell Foundation and in past the League for Social Reconstruction) and New Zealand.

Socialism Explained:
"You have two cows" jokes originated as a parody of the typical examples used in introductory-level economics course material. They featured a farmer in a moneyless society who uses the cattle he owns to trade with his neighbors. A typical example is: "You have two cows; you want chickens; you set out to find another farmer who has chickens and wants a cow". These examples were meant to show the limitations of the barter system, leading to the eventual introduction of currency and money.

The "two cows" parodies, however, place the cow-owner in a full-fledged economic system where cows are used as a metaphor for all currency, capital, and property. The intent of these jokes is usually to point out flaws and absurdities in those systems, although non-political jokes have been derived from them.

Jokes of this type attracted the attention of a scholar as early as 1944. An article in The Modern Language Journal discusses the classical ones, such as:

Socialism You have two cows. The government takes one and gives it to your neighbor.

Communism You have two cows. The government takes both of them and gives you part of the milk.

Fascism You have two cows. The government takes both, hires you to take care of them, and sells you the milk.

I know that America has seen great change in recent years, but what is going on today. A dozen people carrying guns protested outside the convention center where President Obama was giving his speech about health care. Have people lost their minds or do I perceive this wrong. The incidents happen in Arizona where it is legal to carry firearms in plain sight but were it necessary. President Obama was not addressing gun controls or a gun law so why was it necessary to bear arms? Unless the protesters saw President Obama as a threat but we know that is not true. In my opinion, there is a time and place for everything and that was not the time or place. What if everyone starts bringing guns to the rally and everyone has an itchy trigger finger? It sounds like the Wild Wild West all over again.

This is the first time in American history where protesters showed up with guns and the President was discussing health care. A country of mad men cause it is obvious that someone is confused over the issue. Paul Heimke, president of the Washington, D.C.-based Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, said people should not be allowed to bring gun to events where President Obama is. This is what Mr. Paul Heimke had to say, “To me, this is craziness, “he said.”When you bring a loaded gun, particularly a loaded rifle, to any political event, but particularly to one where the president is appearing, you're just making the situation dangerous for everyone"

Representatives of the National Rifle Association did not return calls for comment.

This is not God made food, this is man made food and that's scary. I see why the government is fighting against nation wide health care because they are allowing this stuff to happen. I guess someone finally put a price on human life. They say, "Money is the root of all evil" and someone has figure the price of human life just cost too much. So I ask my people to consider a veganterian diet cause it just my aide you down the road.

I remember I was sitting in class at Southern University in Baton Rouge, La when this event happen. I could not believe what happened. It was a very somber day and I remembered shedding tears for those who lost there life. It was the day America was attacked like Pearl Harbor. But who was the aggressors is still the question?? They said 19 men boarded the planes and hijacked them with box cutter. Two planes hit the Twin Towers, one hit the Pentagon, and one crashed in a field. Could the government which is for the people and by the people in turn prey on the people? After watching this video it made me think that some one could have planted explosives during Hurricane Katrina and flooded the 9Th ward. You tell me what you think. I also included some statistics so you can get a bigger picture. Am i just a paranoid individual? You tell me what you think.

OK, I see things have went from bad to worse to straight to hell. I mean somebody must have fell asleep at the wheel to let this happen. I mean the trip out part is that he was elected. The people knew his condition before he went into office. I mean I would cut the people some slack if he all of a sudden jump out the closet in a mini skirt but they knew and still voted for him. Then they got mad when he showed up at the school in high heels to talk to the children. I mean somebody is getting their signals cross here. This must be Sodom and Gomorrah and i got to get out of here cause you can smell the fire and brimstone. Where I grew up a man is a man and a woman a woman and that it. I can't stay in America with this madness like this going on because it wrong. I don't won't to be a partaker of her sins because that would be most unfortunate. Did you here about this? I can not believe this myself. They want the President Obama to apologize for saying the police acted stupidly. That is some nonsense!!! I am a black man in America and it still exist. Racism!!! Henry Louis Gates jr is a scholar. Some one who went to Yale university and Gates currently serves as the Alphonse Fletcher University Professor and the director of the W. E. B. Du Bois Institute for African and African American Research at Harvard University. But when the police should up, all they saw was a Nigger and Niggers can't have nice things right? President Obama should make the police officer go to a sensitive training seminar so he can understand that you treat everybody with respect regardless of skin color. I know America is a the tipping point with the racial line drawn in the sand. I know it just a matter of time before this whole thing blows up.

According to The Times, Michael Jackson was the victim of a homicide. The Los Angeles County Coroner has concluded Jackson died from a lethal overdose of sedatives. It has been revealed that Jackson was probably killed by an overdose of propofol. His doctor, Conrad Murray, is under investigation for manslaughter.
Murray told the Los Angeles Police Department that for the six weeks prior to the singer's death he had administered a 50 milligram dose of the drug every night to help Jackson to sleep. He had begun to cut back on the dose after fearing Jackson was becoming addicted and for two days before the death gave him only lorazepam and midazolam.
On the day of his death, Murray said, he injected Jackson with lorazepam, then administered midazolam amongst other drugs. Finally, he gave in to Jackson's insistence upon propofol, giving him 25 milligrams before going to the toilet. Upon his return, Jackson was no longer breathing.
Investigators have not been able to trace any records of propofol purchases by the doctor. It is also reported that another doctor had previously been approached by Jackson and asked to sell him the drug, but that doctor refused.

Steve McNair Found Dead. Updated!!!

UPDATE 7/06 7:45PM: CNN is reporting that the pistol found at the shooting scene was bought by McNair's girlfriend Sahel Kazemi two nights before the fatal incident, according to police.

Steve McNair's death on the Fourth of July has revealed that the former football star may have had a dark side that had been hidden from public view, the AP writes. Indeed, even McNair's wife may have only become aware of the romantic affair he had been carrying on with 20-year-old Sahel Kazemi after his death, sources told the New York Daily News McNair, who was shot four times Saturday in what police have ruled a homicide, was known for his charity work and volunteering and was viewed publicly as a happily married man. But as the details surrounding his death emerge, the picture has become more complicated.

Even McNair's longtime agent said he didn't know about the former quarterback's relationship with Saleh Kazemi until news broke of the deaths. Now police call 36-year-old McNair the victim of homicide, though they aren't yet ready to label Kazemi's death a suicide despite her single bullet wound to the head.

"As good as he was on the football field, that couldn't touch the person," agent Bus Cook said Sunday, still shaken by McNair's death. "I mean it just couldn't."
Hints of a problem with alcohol surfaced in May 2003 when a Nashville police officer pulled McNair over on suspicion of drunk driving. Police said the quarterback's blood alcohol content was .18 percent -- well over Tennessee's legal limit. He also was charged with having a 9mm weapon with him, but all the charges were later dropped.

McNair was charged with drunken driving in 2007 because he let his brother-in-law drive his pickup truck. Those charges were later dropped when the DUI charge against the brother-in-law was reduced to reckless driving.

And McNair could have been charged again Thursday night when the same officer who arrested him in 2003 stopped a 2007 Cadillac Escalade driven by Kazemi and registered to both her and McNair. Kazemi was arrested on a DUI charge, and he was allowed to leave in a taxi.

The breaking of the sound barrier is not just an audible phenomenon. As a new picture from the U.S. military shows, Mach 1 can be quite visual.

This widely circulated new photo shows a Air Force F-22 Raptor aircraft participating in an exercise in the Gulf of Alaska June 22, 2009 as it executes a supersonic flyby over the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis.

The visual phenomenon, which sometimes but not always accompanies the breaking of the sound barrier, has also been seen with nuclear blasts and just after space shuttles launches, too. A vapor cone was photographed as the Apollo 11 moon-landing mission rocketed skyward in 1969.

The phenomenon is not well studied. Scientists refer to it as a vapor cone, shock collar, or shock egg, and it's thought to be created by what's called a Prandtl-Glauert singularity.

Once again the question is what is really going on. If you have not seen the movie V for Vendetta then you might feel left out but check it out. It makes for a good Saturday night movie. Anyway, thing theme about the movie was the power of an idea. I will not spoil for you. Have you ever seen a movie like Equilibrium, where everything is the society is controlled by government and you were not allowed to feel emotions? Back to the present situation, is this natural or an unnatural occurrence? That the question I asked because we know that fear is used as a factor of control. Like cattle so some one had said. Will this affect my life in a manner in which I wear a mask on my face? With economical decline that follow that doesn't seem so distant. I just a reporter and that is my spin on it. A hotline set up the previous day fielded 2,366 calls from frightened city residents who suspected they might have the disease. City Health Secretary Armando Ahued said 10 new possible cases of infection have been discovered in the metropolis of 20 million people.

Officials say more than 1,000 people have been infected nationwide. Tests show 20 people have died of the swine flu, and 48 other deaths were probably due to the same strain.

This virus is a mix of human, pig and bird strains that has epidemiologists around the world deeply concerned. The World Health Organization convened in Geneva Saturday to consider whether to declare an international public health emergency — a step that could lead to travel advisories, trade restrictions and border closures.

The agency's director-general, Margaret Chan, said the outbreak involves "an animal strain of the H1N1 virus, and it has pandemic potential" — but it is too early to say whether a pandemic will actually occur.

The CDC and Canadian health officials were studying samples sent from Mexico, and some governments in Asia and Latin America began monitoring passengers arriving on flights from Mexico.

But it may be too late to contain the outbreak, given how widespread the known cases are. If the confirmed deaths are the first signs of a pandemic, then cases are probably incubating around the world by now, said Dr. Michael Osterholm, a pandemic flu expert at the University of Minnesota.

The same virus also sickened at least eight people in Texas and California, though there have been no deaths north of the border, puzzling experts at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

No vaccine specifically protects against swine flu, and it is unclear how much protection current human flu vaccines might offer.

The News... They say they discovered another planet that might be similar to Earth. They say it might have water on it. I still wonder who the one or group to decide if Pluto was a planet. I mean really. I think that judgment was out of bounds but that my opinion so take it for what is worth. I know i will not be the first in line buying tickets on that plane. But a wise man did tell me that those planets are little eggs waiting to be fertilized and i believe him. So the human race is held for the stars just like Star Trek. A Young Pulsar Shows Its Hand

A small, dense object only 12 miles in diameter is responsible for this beautiful X-ray nebula that

spans 150 light years. At the center of this image made by NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory

is a very young and powerful pulsar, known as PSR B1509-58, or B1509 for short. The pulsar is

a rapidly spinning neutron star which is spewing energy out into the space around it to create

complex and intriguing structures, including one that resembles a large cosmic hand.In this

image, the lowest energy X-rays that Chandra detects are red, the medium range is green, and

the most energetic ones are colored blue. Astronomers think that B1509 is about 1,700 years old

and it is located about 17,000 light years away. Neutron stars are created when massive stars

run out of fuel and collapse. B1509 is spinning completely around almost 7 times every second

and is releasing energy into its environment at a prodigious rate -- presumably because it has an

intense magnetic field at its surface, estimated to be 15 trillion times stronger than the Earth's

magnetic field.The combination of rapid rotation and ultra-strong magnetic field makes B1509

one of the most powerful electromagnetic generators in the galaxy. This generator drives an

energetic wind of electrons and ions away from the neutron star. As the electrons move through

the magnetized nebula, they radiate away their energy and create the elaborate nebula seen by

With the recent rash of violence in the cities we live in thes days make you wonder. A man shoot 13 people and himself. Is that the norm now? Did you forget about the student a Virgina Tech, who went on a rampage and shoot all those people? Or the ones who emptied bullets in the mall of the twin cities? What is really going on? I saw the movie of "Lord of War" with Nicholas Cage and they said it is one gun to tweleve people in the world and the job is to find out how to arm the other eleven. I remember reading a book call Fall of America by The Honorable Elijah Muhammad. It talk about these hard times. I have to give credit where it is due because every body talks about and Nostradamus what he had to say about the future. I say you should give them a good look and tell me what you think. I really you like to know. I am doing my part to help shape the future by asking you to think about it. A wise man told me that steel sharping steel. Think About It!!!

State May Loosen Laws On Storing Guns

AUSTIN — Texans would be allowed to stow their guns and ammo inside their locked cars or trucks while at work and parked on employer property under a controversial bill passed Wednesday by the state Senate.

The Senate voted 31-0 to prohibit employers from enforcing restrictions against employees possessing a legally owned handgun or ammunition inside a locked vehicle while in a company parking lot. Firearms and ammo must be stored out of sight.

“Here in Texas people like their firearms and … if they want to bring them to the workplace they are going to do it whether there’s an employee policy against it or not,” said state Sen. Glenn Hegar, R-Katy, the measure’s author. “This is designed to stop employers from punishing employees who legally bring weapons to work" .
