The day started with a fabulous butt kicking hike up Fryman Canyon with Paria and Lady Grace. After that - a candle lit bubble bath and I sipped champagne while soaking in the tub. Indulgent to the max and I loved every moment of it, but isn't that what Sundays are for?? A day of rest, a day of rejuvenation, a day to get ready for the week. Speaking of the week, time to run a few errands and do a little online shopping.

It's finally here!! My new wedding ring set, with my grandmother's "North Carolina ruby" right there as the center stone. Breaking my wrist was certainly a low point of this year, but had I known this ring would be the result? Well, I might have smiled my way through the pain because I absolutely LOVE this ring set. I've noticed that it's getting harder and harder to read the fine print on packaging. At first I thought they were using smaller print, never thought I could be having a problem with my 20/20 eyes. Then I put on a pair of my husbands magnifying reading glasses... oh my goodness I could read everything!! Although on some packaging you really don't want to be able to read the small print, but that's besides the point.

So I went out and bought this pair of magnifying glasses for my own. I know, I know... I should get my eyes tested but I'm waiting until my good health insurance kicks in January. Meanwhile, I've got these cute little Foster Grants to wear when I need them.

I use dry shampoo every other day on my hair and I really think it's helped me reduce the stress on my hair that would normally happen if I was blowing my hair out every day. Plus dry shampoo is a major time saver since I'm not spending that 20 minutes blowing my hair out.

Right now my favorite brand is Oscar Blandi, he makes a classic powder and a spray. I prefer to use the powder, I just put the powder in my hands and then run my hands through my hair. Don't squeeze the powder right onto your scalp - I've over applied the product more than once using that method.

So do you use dry shampoo? Is there a different brand I should try??

By far this has to be THE best spot for breakfast/brunch or lunch. I'm sure they do a great dinner too but I've never tried it. For me this is a daytime spot, they have an absolutely lovely outdoor patio (so rare in Vegas) so if the weather is cooperative make sure to sit outside. Everything is made from scratch and to die for! The granola was amazing and perfect mixed in the house made vanilla bean and honey yogurt. If you look just above it - you'll spy an amazing cheese danish, one of the best pastries I've had in my life. At the top of the photo is my sisters breakfast - ratatouille with a super fluffy scrambled egg on top with a drizzle of some kind of red pepper sauce. She LOVED it!

This spot is my go-to spot EVERY time I'm in Vegas, it won't be the cheapest breakfast you'll ever have - but I bet it's the BEST breakfast you'll ever have in Vegas.

It's almost done! My new wedding ring set that is. This is the C.A.D. design that my jeweler sent to his guys that make the wax model from his drawings. I'm getting so excited the wait is killing me!

Worst part of Las Vegas last weekend

So I went to Las Vegas for the weekend and I really did have a fabulous time and I'll elaborate on those moments in the next post. For now I want to tell you what NOT to do in Vegas.

1. Don't fly Spirit Airlines to get there. This is a super cheap airline that nickles and dimes you all along the way. You have a carry on bag? Well that's $40. you want water on the flight? $3. You want to get there on time?? Pick another airline. The saying "You get what you pay for" couldn't be more true.

My other big disappointment -

2. Don't bother going to check out the pawn shop on the TV show "Pawn Stars" (I'm a fan of the show). Major disappointment. It was like a $20 cab far to get there from the strip and the place is super small and the floor space is filled with t-shirts, shot glasses and other crap that you can just buy on their web site if you really want 'em. I thought I might get Q a cool kitchy fun something and everything in the store seemed to start at $1000. Working in television I should have know better, everything looks bigger and better on TV. So trust me on this... skip, Gold and Silver Pawn.

Otherwise, I had a FABULOUS trip and I'll highlight some of my favorite spots and shows soon.

It's from the Miss Universe collection and it's called "Crown Me Already"

I'm on the fence about it... it really appeals to the little girl in me that still loves glitter but the adult in me is all like "Are you serious with this?"

Even a really good manicure only lasts about 3 days on me before the chipping is too much and I'll have to remove it. Meanwhile if I get lost hiking I know the helicopters will be able to find me if I just wave my hands backwards and let the sparkle do all the work for me.

New wedding ring design?

I've been searching for a new wedding ring set for a while. I picked one out on the Tiffany's web site that I adore, but I wanted to try it out for a while and see if I like it so I found a look a like for a really reasonable price -

My last ring had channel set diamonds across the band (see photo from last post) and I wasn't sure how I would feel wearing a ring that had a 2 carat prong set diamond setting up pretty high. Well I LOVE it! So we are having our jeweler make a copy AND to make the ring even more special - my Grandma's ruby will be the center stone instead of a diamond. Actually my family has always called it a "North Carolina ruby". So who knows it may just be a garnet for all I know but the stone is very special to me so I really don't care what it is.

So hopefully the ring will be ready in a couple of short weeks and I'll be sure to show you the results.

Oh and having an extra wedding set is pretty awesome because you can bet that's the set I'll be wearing when I travel or go to a water park or the beach etc... Or just because I can I might wear it on my right hand all the time.
