Classic early 80's party/ski flick featuring the first single from Mitch Ryder's 1983 "comeback" album, Never Kick A Sleeping Dog. It's actually a cover of a Prince song from 1980 called "When You Were Mine" (I know, it sounds like I'm making this up). The album was produced by John Mellencamp and basically flopped. I really don't understand why. This is a great song. And this movie, which was hugely successful, should have made it a hit. Mitch moved to Europe shortly thereafter, and he's been there ever since. Pity.

When he's told that because it's the 4th of July most of their agents are not around so they might have trouble getting people to get the hackers. So he instructs them to get local PD'S to take care of it. And one of the cops they ask is John McClane who is tasked with bringing a hacker named Farrell to the FBI. But as soon as he gets there someone starts shooting at them. McClane manages to get them out but they're still being pursued. They also are accused of kidnapping the senator's dog, Reinaldo after he EATS the pork roll including the chip. Jane gets arrested but Jim the bike messenger helps her out. They can't fail or Roxanne could end up in a convent school and Jane might not have her college dreams come true.
