Here are some invaluable tips for setting yourself on the right course.

Lighting This is the most overlooked aspect of creating a nursery, but it can have a big impact on the overall decor and ambience. It's important to have both central lighting for changing, and a softer side light for feeding and bedtime.

Flooring Nursery flooring needs to be practical and warm. Floorboards have afresh look, but can be hard underneath - especially for babies' heads.

Carpet is softer, but you do risk stains (an occupational hazard for life with children!). A good solution is to invest in a mechanical carpet cleaner. This will pay for itself many times over. Be warned: you will probably get asked to lend it out quite a few times.

Furniture Should you choose a cot or cot bed? The second option will save you money in the long term, but you need to balance this saving with the extra expense when you are already spending a lot.

A comfortable chair is a must for feeding. Check you have somewhere to rest your arms to stop you having to support the entire weight of the infant during feeds.

Walls There are a number of choices for decorating the walls:

Wallpaper - be careful that you don't buy very babyish wallpaper because it has a shelf life. You may adore fluffy little animal friezes right now, but once your baby becomes a toddler, such designs could just seem too 'young'.

Paint - an easier option. It's very easy to go over the top with pastels. Pale colors are popular because of the calming atmosphere that they create. However bolder, primary colors balance this out - and babies love them.

An interesting way to mix calming colors with bolder shades is to use wall stickers. Even better are nursery wall murals. There are some outstanding designs out there - from nursery rhymes to under the ocean to horses and ponies.

So don't fret preparing your nursery - have fun!

Also some of them believe that formula is equally good as compare to breast milk, although there is no scientific proven on this belief but it is true that the children fed with breast milk is healthier than the children fed with formulated milk. The main difference over the comparison between formula and breast milk is that breast milk extends into toddler-hood and exits as long as breastfeeding continues.

Breast feeding is widely encouraged by WHO and UNICEF over few years back. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) also suggested that breast feeding should have to continue for at least 6 months and is recommended to extend to 1 year if the situation permitted. AAP also voice out that there is no scientific evidence proven that breast feeding would harm the health for mom as well as for the children as it goes on after the first year. In fact, the scientific study reveal that breast feeding could lead to several health benefits include nutritional, cognitive, emotional as well as immunological.

Breast milk is basically a food with ultra rich of nutritional, after all, it is completely free with unlimited supply! Following are some of the benefits for breast feeding:

- Nutritional, immunological and development benefits for your child

- Reduce the probability in getting breast cancer with long term breast feeding

- Reduce the risk in getting ovarian cancer

- Reduce the risk in getting uterine cancer

- Reduce the risk in getting endometrial cancer

- Protect against osteoporosis

- Reduce the risk of rheumatoid arthritis

- Decrease insulin requirement for diabetic patient

- Better weight control (breast feeding consume up to 800 calories per day)

Breast feeding is a very delicate decision that has to be made by the mother herself. There is no offend and the mother shouldn't find themselves pressured whether they want to breast feed their children or not. Overall, breast feed is not only good for the children but also carry good health to the mother as well.
Fundamental learning processes develop as the child begins to seek autonomy, explores the world, learns how things work, begins to tolerate limitations, express desires, and develops relationships. It is also the magical time of childhood encompassing the tumultuous twos and the terrific threes. The toddler's excitement and frustration make this a period of incredible challenge for caregivers, especially as toddler behavior problems begin to arise.

Negativism is an expression of the toddler's constant search for autonomy. The toddler resents being given directions or not being allowed to explore. The toddler delights in doing the opposite of what is asked and responding with a "no" to all requests. As disrupting as negativism can be, another characteristic developing simultaneously is ritualism, or the need to maintain sameness. Rituals or routines provide repetition where the child may gain comfort and security. Disrupting these rituals will make the child experience stress, respond by exerting autonomy, and frequently regress to dependence and negativism to cope with the situation. Regression is a return to an earlier, safer, and more familiar behavior.

Sibling rivalry which is defined as intense feelings of jealousy between siblings is also often seen when an infant is born into a family with a toddler. The toddler perceives that the arrival of the new baby as a competition for the caregiver's attention. The toddler also begins to fear loss of love or abandonment. Temper tantrums are also common among toddlers. These are outward explosive reactions to inward stressful or frustrating situations.

Dealing with toddler behavior problems may indeed be difficult. One important part of toddler discipline is limit setting or letting the child know what they are able to do and not do in a particular situation. These limits may be established by the child, adult caregivers, or the external environment.

But regardless of the methods used, it is essential that the caregivers teach the toddler the reasons for the discipline.
Unfortunately this is not very practical when your baby reaches the toddler stage. Now you should be thinking of functional clothing. Clothing that will allow your little girl the freedom to crawl, learn to walk and eventually climb, run and tumble. Toddler clothes should be easy to get on and off as during this stage not only will most little girls go through the potty training phase, they will also start wanting to dress themselves.

Toddler girl clothing must be comfortable and durable. You should be able to relax and let your toddler girl explore things without the stress of fancy clothes that cost a fortune and must be kept clean and tidy at all costs. This exploration stage is an important learning phase during which your little girl needs to develop a lot of skills that will stand her in good stead throughout her childhood. During the toddler years your little girl will learn to feed herself, dress herself and help herself with a toilet routine. You are going to need clothes that will help her to master these skills and stand up to all the spoils. It is recommended that all her clothing should be machine washable and winter clothes should preferably be suitable for tumble drying.

It is a given that your little girl will have a party dress or two. If your little girl looks particularly sweet in pastel colors limit these to the party outfits. Choose practical colors for play wear for your little girl. Patterned fabric tends not to show up the odd mark or two whereas stains are almost accentuated on solid color garments. When selecting solid color garments bright reds, greens and blues are more practical than the softer hues. Pastel colors in sleep wear should be fine as most toddlers fall asleep shortly after bath time and therefore these clothes are usually not subjected to the same amount of wear and tear as day clothes.

When it comes to sizing make sure that you buy the correct size. Buying to last more than one season is just not worth it. Over-sized clothing never looks good on a toddler and inhibits play. There is no guarantee either that the clothing will fit properly when the next season comes round. Buying toddler clothing that is made with a stretch fabric makes more sense. This means that clothing that fit snugly will stretch as your toddler grows and most of this clothing will fit your little girl for an entire season.

If you are planning on potty training your little girl during the season make sure that all clothing can be put on and more importantly taken off quickly and with ease. Avoid one-piece clothing that buttons at the crotch during the potty training period. Look for pants with elasticized waists as this will make potty training easier for both you and your little girl.

As you approach the age when your little girl will want to dress herself make sure that you choose clothing that will make this easier for her to master. It is a big challenge for little hands and small things can make a big difference as to how well they cope. Shoes with velcro fastening instead of laces, necklines with rib knits that slip over the little heads easily and as mentioned before pants with elastic in the waist can all make dressing much more fun and less of a battle.
Babies grow up very fast in their first years both mentally and physically. During the initial stages of growth, children depend on their parents for all their needs and to be protected from the outside world. Since the world out there is so dangerous for an infant, it is very important for the home to be a safe sanctuary for the children. Here are some room-to-room baby proofing tips, beginning with the baby's nursery.

How to Baby Proof the Nursery

Baby proofing the nursery involves buying a crib that meets the current safety standards. The crib mattress should fit in the baby's crib comfortably, without leaving any space in between. If more than one finger can fit between the side rails and the mattress, then that mattress is not a perfect fit. In addition, the crib should not have prominent corner posts or decorative cutouts, as the child's clothing can get stuck in them.

Most of the pediatric organizations do not recommend the use of the crib bumpers as they are cited as a suffocation risk. Additionally, it is advisable to avoid using pillows, excess blankets and soft beddings on the child's crib. Furthermore, the crib must not be kept close to any window, especially those that have chords or blinds.

How to Baby Proof the Bathroom

Even though it is common sense to never leave the toddler alone or unattended in a bathtub, make sure to put the non-slip covers at the bottom. The toilet should have lid locks to keep the toilet lid locked, preventing the child from receiving any injuries.

Furthermore, medicines and cleaning supplies in the bathroom should be safely kept away from child's reach. Medicine containers must be kept in safety cabinets or stored away in locked cabinets. All the cleaning detergents should be moved to a tall hall closet or somewhere high in the kitchen.

How to Baby Proof the Kitchen

Make sure the little one has the safety straps on to keep them from slipping from high chairs. In addition, the high chairs should be placed on an even ground. Baby bottles must not be heated in a microwave as the milk formula does not usually heat evenly. The drawers and kitchen cabinets must have uncomplicated drawer stops that prevent the little ones from having access to the drawer's contents.

Learn about All the Necessary Precautions

While the baby proofing tips are not meant to alarm parents, the guidelines are designed to warn all the parents of the risks that are overlooked but are present in the house. The wellbeing and health of the baby should be the most important concern for any parent. There are other precautions that must be considered once the baby has been brought home. Parents should avoid smoking or using matches when the baby is around. Avoid giving the baby foods that can get stuck in the child's throat, such as grapes, nuts and popcorns. These are just some of the usual precautions that each parent should learn to keep the child safe.

Our kids learn from us every minute. When you favor nutritious foods, good nutrition becomes your child's expectation. When you choose to go for a walk, exercise, or biking instead of watching television, your child gets the movement and fitness message. Being a positive role model by early example is very beneficial on so many levels. I will concentrate on fitness and exercise in my article. How to be a positive role model and create our babies habits and needs to active and healthy lifestyle? Spending quality time outdoors, while walking, jogging, and exercising with a jogging stroller brings so many benefits for you and your baby: - You get back into shape after your baby is born, and lose weight, - you'll feel energized, - you'll gain self-confidence and self-esteem, - exercise helps to reduce stress level and helps you to stay positive and relaxed, - the latest research points to another important benefit: physical activity, even moderate, helps to extend your life span significantly! There are also multiple benefits for children: - babies love to be outdoor, they enjoy it a lot, - it is a great way to entertain even the youngest babies, - outdoor environment stimulates kids development, - being outdoor children build up their immunity system better, it helps to reduce risk of asthma and other health problems, - kids get a very important message from us - they learn that being active and exercising is our lifestyle and most likely they will get that habit. Jogging stroller is a great tool to implant that very important life long habit to your kids. Jogging stroller is recommended for children from 6 months old and then is a good time to start exercising with your baby next to you. There are many ways to do this, you can enjoy a stroller group in your area and exercise with other mothers and their babies or do it on your own. Consistency is very important, so make sure you have a plan and do it regularly. Later, when your kids are old enough, you can start biking together. Bicycle trailer is another useful tool that can give your children impulse to exercise, to be active, healthy, and great role model. It is not easy goal, especially now when number of obese children is growing and watching television, and playing computer games, is a strong habit and getting even stronger. We parents want our kids to be healthy with great and life long habits of active lifestyle. Important is to start early, continue, and be consistent. That way we will send the strong, solid message to our children - active lifestyle is a great way to spend free time. It is important to make healthy eating and exercise more then just a part of your life, but also part of your entire family's life. It is up to us, as parents, to help our children practice healthy eating habits and get regular exercise. We establish a pattern for our kids to follow by what we say, what we do, and yes, by what we teach them. If we practice what we teach, they will follow our lead. We are their role models! If we eat right and are physically active, the odds are far better that our children will make the same healthy decisions. And by making these choices, each child will find it easier to maintain an appropriate weight and have a great attitude about daily exercise. US Department of Health and Human Services research shows that 16% of the children and teens in America are overweight! What does that mean to your child? - socially, it means - it's harder to keep up with other kids, usually they don't like recess, because they're athletically that fit, - their self-esteem is lowered, - they're more prone to be teased and bullied by other kids, - on a health level, it means - they're prone to Type 2 diabetes, a disease that was rare in children, now 45% of newly diagnosed cases of childhood diabetes are Type 2, which often can be prevented by proper diet and regular exercise, - children who are overweight tend to become overweight or obese adults. What can we do? If you want your family to be healthy, make it happen! Moms have that power. The impact you have on your children's eating and exercising habits begins immediately. Everything you do right now gets absorbed by your children, every smile, every walk, and every food choice. If you place a high value on healthy foods, make them available, eat them, so will your children. The same goes for exercise. From infancy to the toddler years, your child will learn that physical activity is a priority if you make it a priority. Whether being pushed in a jogging stroller as a baby, playing in a park as a toddler, or riding in a bicycle trailer, your child gets into the mode of outdoor activity. As your child gets older let him or her participate in team sports and spend time playing ball in your backyard. Encourage them to try different things and sports to catch their talents, needs, and enjoyments. Parental encouragement and involvement raises children's interest, enthusiasm, and self-esteem. So grab a ball, take your jogging stroller, or put your kids into the bicycle trailer. Enjoy a family hike and enjoy physically active family time together for many, many reasons and benefits! Be a positive role model for your loved ones and create a life long attitude for many years ahead.
A cradle, a bassinet a crib, or a convertible crib is suggested by me.

A snugly solution for making baby feel safe is a cradle - Your baby will fit perfectly inside of a cradle for about 3 months, providing him with the security he needs.

The best thing is to have someone lend you a cradle because they get pricey and you won't need one for long.

A new mother does not necessarily need a new bassinet, but it can be really helpful because of its light weight and mobility. Not too many people buy a bassinet these days as the car carrier is far more popular but it cannot serve as a cradle or bed on a temporary basis as much as the bassinet can for several months if needed.

Your baby's crib provides a soothing environment, and it is the foundation and security centre of the nursery. A baby can sleep in a crib until the age of three, although some parents choose to upgrade to a regular bed earlier than that. There are so many kinds of cribs, made from a variety of materials to pick from.

The final possibility would be a convertible crib, which can be more costly in the beginning but is worth it. With this piece of furniture, your baby can use this bed for up to five years or more so you will not have to spend money on a new bed. Once your baby is ready for a toddler bed, it only takes a few minutes and some simple tools to convert the crib to a toddler bed.

When you have a baby, you need to choose the type of furniture that will make your little one feel at home and comfy. Infants do not require pillows. Cover the crib mattress with fitted sheets and a soft blanket for extra comfort, besides just clothing baby in a sleeper gown.
So you start planning for the next baby.

Once your baby is due, though, and you turn your thoughts towards the decorating of the nursery; you realize with trepidation that there were things you had not considered. Your toddler is still tottering around in training diapers and tripping around the house looking for crevices to poke his tiny fingers through.

How are you going to care for both? How will your toddler react to the 'invasion' of the new baby into his surroundings? How will the shared bedrooms theory work out in practice? Sit down, take a deep breath. While we cannot help you actually run after the toddler with baby in arms; we can help ease your tensions about the shared accommodations of your precious babies.

Guiding Principle 1: Ensure the Room is Safe for Baby and Toddler

a. Safe Furniture - Check the baby crib, if you plan to use the same one, for any wear and tear. The toddler bed or twin bed must be set up with bed safety rails. Move the rocking chair away from the window as your toddler learns to climb.

b. Safety Accessories - Invest in a baby monitor (and keep it out of reach of curious fingers). A mosquito net will keep bugs, toys and blankets from finding their way into the crib (these are potential hazards for baby).

c. Decorate at a Safe Distance - Your toddler is reaching new heights. He is able to grasp, pull, push and do a multitude of new activities. The wall hangings and décor that worked well in a nursery, needs to be adjusted in the shared bedrooms. The baby will soon begin to ape his siblings actions...ensure the toys you buy are appropriate for both their ages.

Guiding Principle 2: Create a Room that is Fun to be in

a. Fun Furniture - Buy some fun new furniture for your toddler; perhaps a table and chair set or a stepstool. Involve him in the decorating process. He will enjoy the room more when he recognizes things that he helped pick out.

b. Fun Decor - Give separate themes for the individual spaces in the shared bedrooms. Choose area rugs that will be age appropriate for each. Decorate their walls with funky letters that spell their names.

c. Fun Mural - A wall mural that ties both themes of the shared bedrooms together will soon become the focus of the room and the backdrop for many imaginative plays between the two as they grow older.

Guiding Principle 3: Be Prepared for Conflicts and Try Different Solutions

a. Let your kids guide you - Each child has his own personality. It is not possible to give any one solution to solving the conflicts that arise. Know the nature of your children and let them guide you to the best way to deal with their tantrum. Talking to your toddler (when he is calm) might help reduce the stress.

b. Sleeping Habits - If your toddler keeps baby awake with his antics, take the baby out of the room and let him sleep in your room. You can bring him into the shared bedrooms after both kids are asleep. If middle of the night feedings disturb the toddler, your best bet is rough ride it out. Eventually the toddler will learn to sleep through the disturbance. Being prepared for such conflicts keeps your stress level under control.

Today more and more western families are opting for shared bedrooms for their young children. This is a common trend in many countries around the world. Children adapt quickly to each other, grow closer and enjoy a deep bond that later physical separation also cannot affect.

So go ahead and chalk out your plans for that lovely nest to be shared by your toddler and baby...and as the bumps begin to smoothen out, see your kids spend more time together and soon leave you in peace (and planning your next baby, perhaps?).
From a baby's first nursery to a teenager's bedroom, decorating a room for your children can be a tricky look to get right, but there are a few basic rules to follow to get it right. Ideas for a nursery When you plan a room for a newborn, bear in mind that decorating a nursery can be as much about creating a comfortable space for you as for your child. Decoration Calm and comfort are all-important for newborns, so choose delicate shades and tactile fabrics for cosiness. Add a pretty mobile above the cot but make sure they are hung high enough to be out of reach when your child is old enough to stand. Furniture Rather than furniture specifically designed with babies in mind, choose well-made items that can adapt with your child. For example, a chest of drawers can be topped with a mat to make a changing table, and a two-in-one cot bed will last until your baby is ready for a grown-up bed. Window treatments Blackout blinds are a good choice for babies' rooms. They make it much easier to settle small children during the day or on light evenings and should help stop them waking up at dawn in the summer months. Roller blinds also allow you to let in as much natural light as possible at other times. Temporature To avoid your baby becoming too hot or cold, don't position their cot right next to a window or by a radiator. It may also be a good idea to invest in a room thermometer and try to keep the room at around 18°C. Ideas For a toddlers bedroom As they grow, energetic toddlers will need a place for supervised play, as well as a secure and cosy bed to encourage them to snuggle down alone at night. Decorating Children grow out of the latest fads as quickly as their first pair of shoes, so rather than succumbing to an entire room of Dora the Explorer, choose a neutral backdrop and introduce colour with textiles, graphic wall stickers and fun accessories. A feature wall in a bright and lively wallpaper is also an easy way to change a nusery into bedroom. Furniture Opt for a wardrobe with a pole that can be raised as they grow older. Secure free-standing furniture by fixing it to the wall with anti-toppling devices such as straps or fixing brackets. Open drawers can be used to climb, so use child-proof drawer latches on lower drawers. Storage Store toys in a variety of containers, according to their size. Combine see-through plastic storage crates, trunks and toy boxes with tubs, baskets, over-door organisers and mini-drawers. Categorise things so that they make sense to your child and arrange them so that they're easy to take out and put away. Lighting Dimmer switches are a boon for checking on a sleeping toddler and can be left on low for an infant who's afraid of the dark. A glowing lamp or nightlight is also a good idea, but make to keep it out of reach. Safety Cover electrical sockets and keep trailing cords out of reach. Childproof the windows with latches that will allow the window to open no more than four inches and keep window areas clear of furniture so that children aren't tempted to climb onto them to reach windows. Ideas for older children's bedrooms Older children will relish having some input in the way their bedroom looks and will hanker after their own den for games and sleepovers with friends. Decorating Use their favourite colours, textures and motifs in a way that suits your home - If bubblegum pink and electric blue go against all your interior style principles, compromise with powder pink or dove grey. Instead of dousing whole walls in vivid colours, add accents with soft furnishings and framed pictures, which can be easily and cheaply updated. Furniture Have a spare bed ready for sleepovers. If space is limited opt for a hideaway bed with a pull-out truckle underneath for when friends come to stay. The White Company has stylish designs. Storage Adjustable shelves can accommodate big picture books for small kids, then be adapted for paperbacks as well as CDs and DVDs. Make use of wasted hanging space inside a standard wardrobe by fixing up a two-tier system of rails or fill the space at the bottom of the wardrobe with small plastic baskets for storing underwear, socks, nightwear and smaller items. Lighting Fairy lights are an easy way to add a magical touch - string twinkling lights round a mirror for a little girl, or pin up a net of lights to create a personal cosmos for a budding spaceman. Finishing touches Murals and wall stickers can create a fun focal point in a kid's room. Help them to personalise their space in a shared bedroom by spelling out their names with funky lettering so that they each have their own dedicated area Ideas for teenagers bedrooms A teenager's bedroom is a place to study, socialise and sleep. Use spots of bright colour and clever storage to ceate a multi-functional space that meets all their needs. Decoration Find the middle ground when you're choosing a colour scheme so that you end up with a look that you can both live with. Instead of all-black walls to ceiling, why not compromise with a single painted feature wall so that they still get their colour fix? Storage The key to getting a teen to put anything away is to make sure that it is easily accesible. Hang bulky items like guitars, skateboard helmets and backpacks on heavy duty wall hooks , add clear containers to bookcases to give at-a-glance storage for folded clothes and fix a brightly coloured peg board to the inside of a wardrobe for accessories, jewellery, belts, scarves, bags, sunglasses, etc. Furniture Create a dedicated spot where teens can study in peace. Choose a desk big enough to write comfortably and pack in extra space for books and notes with wall-mounted shelving above the workspace. Invest in an adult-size wardrobe and chest of drawers to accommodate a growing collection of clothes. Style extra Make a chill-out corner with beanbags, stacks of cushions and low-level seating to keep your living room teenager-free. Make it personal Let your children put their own stamp on the decorating scheme and they'll be more likely to take care of it. Get storage sorted Keep bedrooms tidy by making sure there's a place for everything. Get serious about safety From baby-proofing your nusery to ground rules for teens, basic safety measures can keep kids safe from harm. Use the space wisely Create zones for sleeping, work and play with functional furniture and fun accessories.
Planning Planning a decorating project will save you time, money and effort and produce professional looking results. Paint, wallpaper and fabric calculators Work out exactly how much you'll need to complete the job and save money on waste and leftovers

Colour ideas Be inspired by three different looks aimed at all ages Nursery Soft-grey walls are the perfect neutral shade for a new baby's room. Warmth can be added with vibrant limes, pinks and blues in stripes and checks, while pale furniture creates a restful feel and keeps the look clutter free. Boys Blues and green's combine to make a striking feature wall and are a good foil for warm, wood furniture and natural flooring. Cheerful motifs on the window treatment add to the sense of fun and create a welcoming look. Girls Pink is the obvious choice for a girl, but to prevent it becoming too sugary use a mix of patterns in vibrant shades of raspberry, red and orange. Temper them with white walls and furniture to keep the look fresh and contemporary. Safety guidelines Keep kids safe and sound with our essential guide to child-proofing your home Think about bed location. Don't position the bed underneath a window, directly against a radiator or with shelves, ledges or appliances above that a child can get hold of.

Avoid hanging heavy pictures or mirrors above the bed.

Secure free-standing furniture by fixing it to the wall with anti-toppling devices such as straps or fixing brackets.

Avoid open drawers that can be used as a climbing frame - use child-proof latches on lower drawers.

Avoid bunkbeds if your child is under six. Cabin beds are a better option if you can squeeze them in - there'll be plenty of extra storage underneath too.

Use socket covers to keep plug sockets safe from probing fingers.

Secure all dangling lamp cords to prevent injury from pulling on them.

Childproof the windows. Use latches that will let the window open no more than 10cm.

A new baby requires a great deal of attention and work. But when you already have a young child at home, it is difficult to keep them from feeling neglected.

An expecting mother with a 20 month old at home recently told us, "One of my biggest fears is that my toddler will hate our new baby". Her concerns are not unfounded. Therapists have described a toddler's experience to a newborn being introduced to the family would be equivalent of finding your significant other cuddled up on your couch with another person. As you can see, this can be a very traumatic experience for the toddler.

A mother of three, with a fourth one on the way, told us that she always made it her goal to keep her older children from feeling left out. She often asks her family and friends to bring gifts for her older children instead of the newborn to prevent feelings of jealousy.

Her youngest child, who is four years old, asked her whether she would love the new baby more than her. This is a common question that children have when a new baby comes into a family. "I try to change the way my kids see the new baby. They think that the baby is competition, but I ask them for help. I ask them to be my helpers and take care of the baby with me." Making your older children become a part of the parenting process helps in more ways than one.
Layers of lighting add warmth to a room, and several different fixtures are needed to illuminate all areas evenly. There are four different types of lighting available: table or task lighting, floor lighting, wall lighting, and overhead lighting. Any or all of these light fixtures can combine to create dynamic and attractive spaces for a kid's bedroom.

Table Lamps for children's rooms provide bright focused lighting on a small area. Lamps can be placed on a nightstand for bedtime reading or on a desk for projects and homework. Some lamps are even available that have a nightlight in the base, performing another essential function for your kids. Table lamps can be fun as well when they extend the theme of the room. RoyalBambino.com carries many fanciful designs, from cowboy boots to frogs, from crystals to bunny rabbits.

Floor Lamps are another option for lighting a small or large area. They tuck nicely into a corner, behind chairs, or next to dressers. Floor lamps direct light upwards, lighting a room more softly and creating a brighter space without harsh angles. The upward lighting can fall short of lighting all corners of a room on its own, but with further layering you can provide ample illumination.

Wall Sconces can brighten dark spaces in your child's room, and can even be attached to a dimmer switch to provide different levels of light. Sconces can highlight wall art or stand alone as a striking décor element. They create an elegant feel instantly with their addition to any space. Because of their placement high up on a wall with no cords hanging down, sconces are even considered safer options for lighting a nursery or toddler's room. RoyalBambino.com features wall sconces ranging from streamlined modern styles to intricate crystal-draped finery.

Many rooms that become children's bedrooms are not equipped with any sort of ceiling lighting, yet light from overhead fills the entire room, shining on all corners and walls. A Chandelier is the perfect solution for overhead lighting. Chandeliers can draw the eye upward, providing a focal point for the room's décor. A chandelier can be a stunning accent piece that completes a room and ties a theme together. RoyalBambino.com carries children's chandeliers in the timeless antique styles that first come to mind, as well as in many fanciful and charming designs to delight your children and make them feel as if they are living in their own wonderland.

Children's lighting can be as dynamic as lighting any room in the house. As with any room, many levels of light can work together to provide the perfect ambiance for your child's living space. Children will appreciate the inspired designs and added brilliance of a variety of light fixtures, transforming their bedroom from a flat and lifeless design into the sparkling room of your child's dreams.
You'd be partially right. It does strike women, but they aren't the only ones who get yeast infections. Men can get them, and so can children. All it takes is a warm, moist environment, and the yeast that is in our bodies naturally can start an infection. This usually happens when a child is taking antibiotics which kill both the good and bad bacteria. Without the good bacteria to keep the yeast under control, the child becomes at risk for a yeast infection. This same scenario is true for babies being nursed by a mother who is taking antibiotics.

Toddlers have two areas that provide the proper environment for a yeast infection to get started. One is around the mouth, and the other is the area that is covered by the diaper. Inside the mouth a yeast infection is called Thrush. The symptoms include white spots on the tongue and gums. In the diaper area, you need to be able to make the distinction between yeast infection and diaper rash, both of which have similar symptoms. Diaper rash comes on suddenly and goes away quickly. Toddler yeast infections, on the other hand, start gradually and can become much more severe without the proper treatment.

So how do you treat toddler yeast infection? Start by keeping the child's bottom as clean and dry as possible. If you can, allow the child to wear no diaper for extended periods of time. This will help to dry up the infection. Change the child's diaper often so that he doesn't have to sit around in a wet diaper for long periods of time. Using baby powder will also help keep the area dry.

Giving your toddler a bath in a tub of warm water with ½ cup of vinegar in it will be a natural treatment for yeast infection. Vinegar kills many types of bacteria, fungus, and mold. Since yeast infection is caused by a fungus, vinegar can be a very effective treatment. In addition, there are topical anti-fungal creams you can purchase over-the-counter. If the yeast infection doesn't begin to clear up within a few days of starting treatment, take your child to see your doctor.
It can be quite a challenge to make the trip run smoothly, and you don't want to be the parent who elicits stares and grumblings from all the other passengers. Since you have the potential to run into problems anywhere along the way, from Heathrow airport parking to losing a toddler in a crowd to trying to stop a baby from crying or a toddler from fidgeting during flight delays, it's best to be prepared with plenty of contingencies.

Step one: Plan ahead. Make sure you have the following items in your carryon: snacks, baby wipes, tissues, Children's Tylenol and possibly Benadryl, more bottles and nappies than you think you'll need, a change of clothes for both you and the children, and plenty of things to keep them entertained. Now is a great time to tantalize with new toys-quiet ones without small parts. Art supplies, like crayons or Play-Doh, can use up nice chunks of time. If the new toys are wrapped, that will enhance their appeal as well as use up extra time.

Step two: Time it right. If your children nap, take advantage of their natural schedules. For example, you might try to schedule a flight that coincides with nap time. Let them enjoy the car ride to Heathrow (or not, but at least if they're fussing, it won't be bothering strangers), stay awake through the unloading and check-in, and hopefully be well tuckered out by the time you board the flight.

Step three: Make it as easy on yourself as possible. It's always preferable to have two adults along: one can handle the luggage and travel details while the other handles the young ones. Even with two of you, rather than dealing with lugging both children and suitcases from the Heathrow airport parking garage to the terminal, arrange for a "Meet and greet." You can drive directly to the terminal, unload, and have a valet take your vehicle to inexpensive offsite parking. When boarding the flight, you might not want to take advantage of airlines that let families with young children board first, particularly if you have active toddlers in tow. Instead, let one adult board first with the carry-on luggage, while the children expend as much energy as possible in the boarding area. You'll have a difficult enough time keeping them entertained while confined to their seats without extending that time.

Final tip: expect the unexpected. All the planning in the world cannot help you foresee every possible problem; it can simply make you more ready to deal with it. Be prepared to go with the flow and adjust as necessary, so that you all arrive at your destination ready to enjoy it.
This article offers a variety of fun finger-food recipes for your toddler introducing healthy eating and making meal times enjoyable for all the family.

Make Finger Food Yourself

Young children need to eat more often than adults. They tend to graze rather than eating large portions so there is a lot of wasted food. Processed foods are expensive which impacts on your food budget. They are also high in salt and sugars and can promote bad eating habits and tooth decay from an early age.

If you choose to make food for your baby and toddler yourself you can be sure of the exact ingredients and fresh food always tastes better. Mixing up the flavors, although they might get spat out at first, will give your child a varied palate and make them less fussy as they get older.

Fruit and Vegetables

Fruit and veg should be the staple of your toddlers diet. Pureed fruit and vegetables can be given from weaning onwards. As they grow make the chunks bigger. Cut up cucumber or celery into strips or cooked veg like carrots, asparagus, green beans, sweet potato are fun. Cooked and diced yellow, orange and red peppers add some color.

Banana pieces are great as are pieces of (soft) pear, apple, pineapple or peach. Add natural yoghurt.

Meats and Protein

Well cooked pieces of chicken, fish or meat accompany vegetables well. Hard boiled egg can be sliced or chopped.

Seeds and Dried Fruit

Dried fruit such as raisins, apricots or prunes are good as a treat as they contain a lot of natural sugar, they usually come in small boxes which are handy for trips out. Sunflower seeds are good for the older toddler.

Toddler Sandwiches

Use easily spreadable fillings such as soft cheese, peanut butter (the natural variety), mashed banana or almond spread. Cut the crusts off the bread and cut into 'fingers' to make them easier to hold.

Toasted 'soldiers' are also great with dips such as soft cheese, avocado, vegemite, hummus or guacamole...watch out, this is where it gets messy!

Cheese

Grated cheese keeps toddlers entertained as they love grabbing the small bits. Full of calcium, cheese is vital for bone growth. Cut cheese into strips if you are out and about.

Cereals

Dried cereals such as cheerios or cornflakes are great, avoid the sugary cereals though.

Pasta

Well cooked pasta shells or macaroni are an interesting texture for toddlers as well as a good source of complex carbohydrates. Create home made bolognese sauce for more flavor.

Drinks

To add to the staple drinks of tap water. Why not create fruit smoothies or squeezed fruit juice drinks. Water them down for younger children as they are strong to taste.

Choking Hazards

Always supervise your child when they are eating. They will have to learn how to chew food so make sure everything is soft and chopped up into small chunks.

Making Food Preparation Fun

As the child gets older (or if they have an older sibling), why not get them involved in the preparation of your toddler finger food recipes? It will teach them about nutrition and let them get creative too.

Another great idea is to make up batches of healthy foods, spoon them into small toddler-sized-meal pots and freeze them.

I hope you find my suggestions useful, be creative and try everything. They may not like something at first but persevere, especially with fruit and vegetables.
Totally dependent on you, but now your baby finally turns 6 months old and there are just so many things that he can do. He can sit up on his own, eat solid foods and so many tricks that make you feel nostalgic and a little teary-eyed because your baby is growing too fast.

When these important milestones start to happen in your baby's life, you should always provide him with all the support that you can give for him to develop properly into a happy and healthy toddler. Highchairs are some of the things that you should buy when your baby reaches this age. Choosing the best among all the available highchairs in the market can be a bit difficult, especially since you are also considering your baby's needs. Highchairs should be easy to use, easy to clean, safe, and comfortable for your baby's daily use.

Highchairs can be very beneficial, not just for the baby, but also for you as a parent. To know more about the benefits of highchairs, read the next few paragraphs.

Feeding time is one of the most difficult times in taking care of your baby, especially when your baby can already crawl or walk on his own. Imagine running around after your baby, trying to spoon feed him. It can be an unwelcome exercise. It will take you a longer time and will require you to spend more energy if your baby is not sitting on a high chair securely. Highchairs in this sense can prove to be very beneficial to the mother.

A high chair also allows the baby to sit by him/herself. This also develops their back strength. You do not need to always support your baby's back with your hands if you have a high chair because highchairs have backrests and adjustable straps that make your baby sit upright without your help.

Finally, you can do other things while your baby is sitting on his highchair. You can wash the dishes, do the laundry, and cook meals and so many other things while your baby is sitting securely on his high chair. You should provide him with different toys so that he will not get easily bored. And do not leave your baby for a long period of time in the high chair without checking. You will never know when your baby will try to stand up and get out of the high chair which can be very dangerous.

About the Author
Since recently having a new baby son added to our family, I've become interested in just about anything that has to do with babies whether it be moses baskets, highchairs or strollers. Their comfort comes from our response to these actions and when they are performed routinely, the baby learns what to expect. It is a never-ending world of learning during those first few years of the infant's life. If you do not give them, some sense of order they are not able to process all that they are experiencing.

In many ways, you are setting the Childs biological clock as well as giving them stability. This is important in several ways but one significant point is it helps them discern between day and night. This is something that is most beneficial to the parent who does not want to deal with the infant who has his days and nights mixed up. With a routine, they come to know what to expect and when to expect it. This teaches them reaction.

You must also take into account as to what level of routine a baby is able to comprehend. Naturally, a week old infant is not going to be able to adjust to a routine as quickly as a six week old for example. In the beginning, it is going with what the baby's body is demanding. If they are hungry feed them, if they are tired let them sleep. As they progress, you can slowly introduce a pattern.

Setting the baby's routine in most cases will come naturally to the new parent. You will soon find yourself adjusting your baby's routine to coincide with yours. Experienced parents learn from the mistakes that they made with their first-born. So quite often, the instilling of a routine the next time around is more consistent and easier to do.

This routine building sets the foundation of the little ones future as they go through various growing stages. If a baby is given a bedtime routine then that pattern carries forward with them into the toddler stage and finally into the school age. This makes for a much easier pattern of living for the young one. It means less fighting at bedtime or at meal schedules.

So building a routine for the infant is building the foundation for many factors of their future. No doubt, mistakes will be made along the way but if close attention is paid to the important aspects the little mistakes will not be that significant.

About the Author
Thomas B. That's why I'll do my best to help you make your choice.

Actually, it isn't a rocket science to realize that the new parents would definitely need a good stroller/carseat combo. They'd think about you and your kindness and generosity every time they use it. They'd be even happier, if the stroller you give them is the "Cadillac of strollers."

I am referring to the Graco Quattro Tour Deluxe Travel System. It is an amazing stroller/carseat combo that has long been a bestseller on the market and a top item in baby shower gift registries. If you can't wait for more details, keep reading!

First of all, that Graco stroller has extended weight limit and is capable of holding a child up to 50 pounds. It would definitely last past the toddler years, so you don't have to worry that the kid is going to outgrow it quickly. It has aluminum welded frame that maximizes its durability.

This stroller can totally take the hardest beating test that you can come up with, and still would come out looking great. It also has a multi-position reclining seat that keeps the little one in it very comfy. It is very easy to adjust the seat recline, even with a child in the seat already. The extra soft fabric also adds to the pleasure of riding.

It is also of essence to note that it is completely functional and has everything you'd need in a stroller. The wheels are big and sturdy and it rides very smooth; it maneuvers very easily and can make 360 degrees turn on the spot; another great thing is that the push bar is high enough that the parents won't have to slouch.

The grown-ups would also enjoy the two beverage holders, huge basket, snack tray, and the room for bottles, keys, and phone. Yet another amazing thing about this Graco stroller is that it is very easy to assemble - it would take you only about 10-15 minutes to put it together, since it comes almost completely assembled.

You just need to put the wheels on, and a few accessories. And it actually doesn't weight as much as you might have expected it to, and once folded it fits in the trunk without problems. Just the whole thing is perfectly thought out.

The other part of that Graco travel system, the car seat, is VERY simple to place in the stroller and snaps in perfectly. You just secure it with the latches, and you're good to go! Believe it or not, the stroller doesn't even feel too heavy with it in. This combo is just amazing.

The car seat is comfortable and sturdy - it is, without a doubt, very well made. It fits up to 32 lbs, folds up with ease, and doesn't take too much room in your car! The installation of car seat base is very easy and it is very, very secure in a car - it won't budge at all.

Another great thing is that the carseat fabric can be removed very easily, so you can wash it to prepare for the little one. What more can new parents wish for?

Worry no more! I am sure that by now you're convinced that this is the best baby shower present ever. The Graco Quattro Tour Deluxe Travel System is the most amazing stroller/carseat combo that would please even the pickiest new parents.

If you think that Graco Quattro Tour stroller is what you need but don't know where to buy it from than you will want to listen to what I want to tell you.

A few days ago I was comparing stroller prices online for this article when a website called my eye - it kept poping out as the online merchant with the lowest price on almost all models strollers I was searching for.

I decided to take a closer look at it and I am glad I did. The website offers free shipping on the Graco stroller within the US in addition to the low price. To sweeten the deal even more it also offers 30 days money back guarantee in addition to manufacturer's warranty.

If you want to see for yourself what I am talking about - click here.

About the Author
Click the following link to read more customer reviews and compare prices on
Grago Quattro Tour Deluxe Travel System

If you have spent time reading to your children, then you already know that children love to hear a good book. Favorite stories can be read over and over, and a child still likes guessing what will happen next and turning pages. Besides a bonding opportunity, it can teach children things they will use in school, such as letters and pictures.

For success in school, many other skills depend on the child's ability to read and comprehend instructions. Starting on this important skill early will teach your child to love reading and that it is not difficult. At an early age, you will want to start a routine of reading to your child if you hope to have strong readers when they begin school. Teachers aren't the only ones to teach the skill.

You should select books differently for a baby or toddler than you would for older children and small babies might enjoy colors and shapes versus pictures and letters. Select books with characters and a story line for older children, in order to keep them interested and progress in difficulty as your child masters each level.

Story time should be a routine that your child looks forward to. Creating a comfortable space and routine is important, and if you use it as part of their bedtime routine, letting your child pick the story will give them a reason to look forward to bedtime. Budget reading time or you may find yourself reading indefinitely.

Your child can participate and you can make up a sound for when it is time to turn the page. If you have more than one child, taking turns is something important for them to learn, as well. You can have them point out certain things in the pictures or see if they can find certain letters or words.

Extend your child's reading into real life. Find comparisons with things they know shapes, letters that start the same words, or even going on trips to find things you have read about. Perhaps a trip to the zoo will help a book come to life.

Children can learn new things from reading a book. Even scary experiences, such as starting school can seem easier if they have heard a book about it before experiencing it. Reading a book can make it seem manageable to your child and can ease their fears.

Reading to your child is important, but it is just as important that your child see you reading. If it has been awhile since you have been a reader, there is not a better time to start. Even if it's something as simple as a magazine, your child needs to see you reading. Pick up a book on a trip to the library for yourself.

Reading with your child will teach your children not only the basic function of reading, but will create a bond that will last a lifetime. What better way to prepare your child for success in not only school, but in life?
