Another Year...

Another year has passed for Gerald Chen and another year is added unto him. i am officially 28 now. No trumpets, No Fanfare..just another normal typical day. Looking back at my past 28 years of my life. i realised the things i have accomplished and done are not numerous in many ways. there are many things in my life i wished that i could have done much much more and achieved a better outcome in them. However, i believed that everything i have been through has molded me to be who i am today and i am thankful for it.

Many times i have wondered what is my purpose in life and what defines me as who i am. If u noticed that in the beginning of this year, i have been asking that same question. This year i have begun to see more of who i am, my strengths and weaknesses. I believe that there is something great in store for me and i am in the stages of preparing for it.

Thank you to my family, friends and loved ones for being with me and believing me. i am not the best person and over the years i may have let you down at one point. Thank u for choosing to be part of my life.

I want to be a world changer. In what way? i am still praying for the vision and direction.

Yet with all my melancholic laments, i find the peace within that God has placed in my heart.

i just thank God for music in my life. With my guitar i can transfer all my emotions to every note and chords. With my voice i can lift my Lord with heart-felt worship. its a wonder how we are made to worship God.

God created me this way with a specific reason and i pray each day that He will lead and change me to be more like Jesus.

A Man's True Strength

What defines a man? What defines his strength? Is it his achievements? Leadership skills? Things that he does that make people go "ohh" and "ahhh"..what is the quintessential state of being a man?

Several questions and thoughts that i have pondered over the last few months. It is something which i had gone through for quite awhile but i had never seriously gave much thought into..*maybe this had lead to the lack of posts on my blogs..haha*

Looking hard at myself and going through all that is within me...i would say i have a lot of work to do. I AM WEAK.

i am not saying this in a way that is negative or putting myself down. For me, i think the first step in being a man is to identify his weaknesses. I have many weaknesses and will never be perfect until i hit the grave and see God face to face. But i will not give up in running after God, changing myself to be more and more like Christ. It hurts, it is tough. To go against the flow of people's expectations, stereotypes, comments, my own fears and selfish desires . Sweat, blood and tears flow freely in the process. I fall and stumble time and again, but i have to pick myself up and continue running. Why? Because this is who i am..this is the process that defines me.

What defines a man? God does. He defines me and i am created in his image. Father, let me run after you more and more. Amen.

An English Test For a Singaporean!

Hi All! Sorry for the lack of updates again! *bows* i will update my blog at least once a week from now onwards. Recently, i have just been busy applying for my Temporary Residency Visa. Just heaps of paper work to do and loads of time traveling to different places for various checks and stuff. Well, it's the least of my worries because the biggest hurdle is the IELTS test (International English Language Testing System).

Yeah, you got it. An english test for a Singaporean! Not that i can speak, write or extrude Queen's or British English but i believe my english is proficient for Aussies to understand me. *sigh* Australia Govt just wanna squeeze money from us hey..hehe. Wish me all the best friends!

New Year, New Beginnings..Fresh Start

Hi all! my humblest apologies for the ultra defunct blog of mine. It's been awhile since i have touched this blog of mine. Why do i return? hehe..mainly two reasons:
1) I want to record my online journal again. Many things i have been through and experienced and i need to record it fast! my age is catching up with me..can't remember stuff well nowadays.

2) Inspired by a close, personal and very loving person's Blog in Brissy. You know who you are..hehe.. wanna share my thoughts too!

2009 will be a new and challenging year for me! I'm still in the process of planning and structuring my goals and plans for this year.

Just a quick update for my buddies and friends back in SG of my life:

- I have just graduated! my final semester was last year and it was a blast! The crowning achievement of my academic life was the Final Year Project and Exhibition for my Tangible Media Studio. I will post my photos soon! My actual graduation will be this March 24th 2009.

hehe..kidding! You can post well-wishes here my friends as you will always be in my heart.

- I am working now as a web designer at Bluewire Media ....finally onto the reality of the real world!

Inspiration came from my friend Xi who asked me to try taking photos of matches. So i bought a box and start messing around with them. Had a crazy idea of doing a process of how a match burns from start to finish and i was off wasting matches. Took a while to get the set up and the desired look from the matches but i was satisfied with this shoot.

I am the Master of Procastination..haha..oh well..no more
yeah...this is the 1st entry since i can remember last year...haha
Folks here's a brief update of my life!

I'm in Australia now *if you dunno, well..you do now*
Currently in my 2nd year of Uni, Majoring in Communication Design
My current place of residence is upgraded to an apartment! No more crappy and old queenslanders *aka attap house*.. woohoo! My house mates are from my church which is awesome..
Darn Busy since then end of march..i have handed in the 1st half of my major assignments..yay! Will post up my assignment photos soon.. But more is in store! Gotta work on my animation clip, product ad design, photo assignments and yet another website...God help me.
Learning more about the true meaning of being a true worshipper of God since i joined the worship ministry. Get ready for some new musical equipment i plan to purchase soon.

That's all in a nutshell for everyone back in Singapore, just been really busy with Uni work and church ministry. Need to shape up on the time management to be really effective. i'm in need of more wisdom.

Well i will post all the photos i promised soon, as i have heaps to edit. Thanks for the faithfulness in waiting! i miss everyone in singapore and plus do take care and believe in God..HE is real..i will be sincerely praying for u all.

I AM BACK !! Yes..i have return on the 16th of October..muahaha..
but upon my landing on S'pore soil, i though that i have arrived in Genting coz it was so hazy!

Crunch period..gah
lack of exercise plus assignments plus late nights = bloat-ness aka bigger face ARGH!
but yesterday's 5 km run for RENew Walk was pretty good. timing = 21mins ??
my finishing position was 22th..quite okay..execpt this really seasoned elderly gentleman overtook me in the 3rd quarter of the run!
yup...another lazy weekend in brissy...30 days more till Singapore...miss u all!

hey people!!!! watsup?? really really really sorry for the lack of updates and stuff, but i have been really really busy as this semester is so packed with assignments, presentations and tests that my head is about to pop!

haha..anyway i will update you guys with my latest event: United Multicultural night!
its an event organised by Christian Campus Movement which is part of my church activity.
i was part of the sub-committee in charge of the program...hehe...
Dress theme is supposed to be cultural/formal..haha..i chosen to go formal coz i'm lazy to find a ethnic chinese costume.
