It looks like the Droid 2 has the same specs as the Droid x, but a smaller screen and a physical keyboard. It will be nice to have a choice between a huge touch screen or a average touch screen and what looks like a nice keyboard since they have updated the keyboard from the Droid 1 keyboard.

I just read the previous post and I have to respectfully disagree. I must be a regular guy because I liked the Google Mobile Services Integration and even felt that the new version of MOTOBLUR is a much needed step up from the previous versions.

Although there are features (and perhaps lack thereof) I am very impressed with the product. My best friend has an iPhone (his second) and he has said on numerous occasions that this will be his last iPhone. He also is impressed with the Droid X. His main concern with his iPhone(s) is the lackluster performance by the iPhone carrier (ATT) as well as the fact that the Driod X seems to be overtaking the iPhone when it comes to available applications. My experience with the Droid X is that Verizon is a solid carrier. This may have something to do with location. I live in a large metropolitan area so I can see where even Verizon may drop the signal in more remote areas of the US.

Overall, I would opt for the Droid X. Pricing is relative and if you need the Mobile HotSpot it really is the way to go. Also, the photos were perfectly acceptable to me (however I do not plan to be a professional photographer) and the pre-configured menus were not a problem. Like the previous reviewer said, all you have to do is remove them.

I understand how the previous reviewer must feel - I had an older Motorola MOTOBLUR equipped phone and hated it. If a person is more used to the iPhone look and feel I am sure that this phone would cause some heartburn! I just happen to be in the "other court", meaning that I prefer the Droid X over the iPhone. I mean no disrespect to the previous reviewer - I just have a different opinion of what I have experienced relative to the Droid X.

Comment on Blackberry Tour by Jim

I have had a Tour for about 3 weeks now. I upgraded from the Pearl, which I had for over 2 years.

I relied exclusively on the features of the Blckberry for my business (lawyer). I use the Calendar, email (all 3 of them), tasks, boradband access, etc. The biggest problem I had with the Pearl was the small amount of on-board memory. Every few days, at the direction of my service provider, I woudl have to shut down the phone, remove the battery, and then reboot. This essentially cleared the cache, allowing my phone to run more smoothly.

Now, with the Tour, I have been "told" that the on board memory upgrade shoudl prevent me from having to do the "battery refresh". The transfer from one Blackberry to the new one was easy using the Blackberry Desktop program. I even added one more email address (god help me)

The pros to the Tour: Faster access, user-friendly interface, FULL qwerty (NOT the touch screen epic failure of the Storm), 8GB memory card, functionability, better camera and video resolution. Blackberry platform.

cons: Here is where I get a bit nit-picky. I'll rely on Brian's full review to give a comprehensive Plus and Minus, but as an 'every day' user, here are my issues:

I cannot seem to figure out how to make sure that ALL of my information (incoming emails, applications, calendar, etc.) is being saved to the memory card. every time in plug it into my computer, it says that my memory card is basically unused. That will eventually have a significant effect on the performance considering I forward 4 email addresses to the phone.

The phone has arbitraily reset itself 3 times in the past week. I regularly update my software on my phone. it seems the most recent update caused some issues. The phone hasnt locked up or rebooted on its own in 5 days, but Im still waiting.

Suddenly, my Tour will not connect with Blackberry Desktop 5.0. not sure if it is a software or hardware issue, but I cant sync my phone up with Outlook or my other applications. Im wokring with Blackberry Tech Support (another 'con' in my opinion), to see if hte issue resolved. Ill keep you posted.

The keys on the keyboard are TINY. This coming from a person with statistically-small hands. I keep making typos that i never did before. it gets frustrating at times. I figured it was just part of the learnign curve, but it takes me nearly twice as long to type a message than before.

Overall, I will definately say the Tour is a significant upgrade from the Pearl and the Storm. If you are looking to upgrade from a Curve, wait for the 2nd generation or even a new model. There is no substaintal difference between teh curve and Tour to warrant the purchase; just upgrade your software.

Looking forward to Brian's review!

I agree, but knowing you, you haven't really had a mobile device that was truly capable of decent web browsing or RSS reading, I don't think rss will ever go away, and I will continue to use my readers for a long time to come.

P.S. You should really get an iPhone....

I find RSS feeds far more useful than any other way of being told of new postings on a web site. I am not a twitter follower, as I view it as having far too much "fluff" that clouds the landscape, thus obscuring the stories that I would really want to know about. For a hand-held device, twitter may be more effective than an RSS reader, but I personally view a handheld device as a "better than nothing" means of getting access to a web site or e-mail. I still view my computer as the primary place to access and store this information.
