Maybe you're wondering why I’ve reached nine years here in college, because I spent more time working than studying because of the lack of financial support from my parents. I came from a poor family. My father when he is still alive was a fish vendor and my mother was a plain house wife. The income of my father is just enough for our daily needs like food and sometimes it is not enough. When I graduated from high school I searched for a job, so that it could help my family because I am the only son among five siblings, but I failed in my plan, because it is so hard to search for a job when you do not finish college. But I never loose hope , I decided to study in CPAC-Central Philippine Adventist College even if my parents did not agree with my plans to study there. They told me that studying in college is so impossible for me because of our financial situation and if I will work as a working student my parents think that it's hard for me to be working student because of my physical condition, I am thin and my right hand is not in shape because it was affected by polio when I was a baby. By God's grace I convince my parents to study in CPAC, bringing my faith and a little amount for my personal needs I came to CPAC. When I arrived there and apply as a working student, I have a hard time in finding a department to work because they think I cannot handle hard labor. But still I never loose hope, I was accepted in the janitorial department and the trials did not end there I got sick for almost a month and my supervisor took me home so that I could find rest. When I recovered, my parents did not want me to go back there because they are very much concerned with my health but I insisted and told them that if I will not pursue my plans nothing will happen to me.

Now I am very thankful to the Lord in my nine solid years in CPAC, God help me to survive even if a lot of trials have come to me that sometimes I get inside the class without eating, then working without meals because my parents cannot afford to send money and food for me. One time when I am working fulltime, our supervisor assigned me to dig a hole for the garbage pit. I was very upset because I did not have my breakfast because I don’t have any rice to cook. When I was digging I felt hopeless because my stomach is making a hungry sound and my body is getting weak. At that moment it came into my mind that the hole I was digging was for me and not for the garbage, but still God helped me out in that situation. I have worked in many departments and I have encountered many trials.
I am working fulltime for my older sister so that when she can graduate she can help me in my studies, but sad to know that right after her graduation she got married. I cannot blame my older sister for that because she was 30 years old at that time. Now she can’t help me in my studies because she has her own family and her husband has no permanent job.

At this time I'm looking forward in finishing my studies soon, so that I can help my younger sister who is also a working student and my mother because my father has passed already.

~my life story: Rodel Eramis~

Featured Central Philippine Adventist College-CPAC working student Blazers

Name: Leve S. I want to start my story when I was a little boy and it goes like this, I was born in a very poor family, my father’s work is a fish vendor, his school attainment is only grade four and my mother as well is a fish vendor, she haven't experience studying in school even in grade one in short my mother is no read no write that is why its hard for them to find a job and to send us to school, but by the grace of God they serve as good parents for us. I started as a working student since I was fourth year high school, I separate from them because of financial problems but in spite of poverty I really believe that hardship is not the hindrance to gain success, I’m trying to work hard while studying, I work as a student Literature Evangelist canvassers together with my brother until I graduate in high school. After my graduation I don’t know where to go and what to do, I want to study in college but my parents cannot afford to send me even if they wanted too, I looked for a sponsors but no one answer, so I said to my self maybe God has a plan for my life then I pray earnestly to God. After few days I decided to work for the ministry for God.

I dedicate my life to God in one year ministry at the age of seventeen, I join in Junior Volunteer Missionary in our place and I was assigned in one of the mountainous area in our place in Negros. I enjoy my work together with a Lay man missionary as my partner. We have a good partnership and I learned many things from him, when we accomplished our first mission we transferred to another mission field, to make the story short our one year contract to God was successfully done with many souls that was brought on the hands of God. After that challenge, I heard that there is a college in our place that offer working student program, then I decided to enroll and study without an assurance from my parents that they will help or support me even only in my food supply and personal needs, but God is really good at all times. On the month April 2008 I applied as working student full-time, I enrolled my only first subject P.E. 1(2units). My line of work is in the Park department (janitorial and campus maintenance services). I experienced mowering the grass on the soccer field the whole day and I could feel my body was shaking so badly after that. I woke up early in the morning around 4 am to collect the garbage bags of the girls and boys dormitory. Because of waking up early we find no time to eat even if we eat our meal we don't have food. One time we eat a leftover bread inside the garbage bag all because of hunger. I could not imagine myself at that time, I thought only street children are doing that but I am also one of them, but still God is good to me and because He never forsake me. He brought me in that place because He has a great purpose in my life and I will do my best to accomplish my goals in life here in CPAC.

According to the Bible in Hebrew 13:5 “Keep yourself free from the love of money and contented with what you have because has I said, I will never leave you or forsake you”

~My life story:Leve S.
